This is a really great location: Cool outdoor area, plenty of space for food trucks, and a large indoor space with games and a variety of seating. Every time we've been here the staff has been friendly but not overly so. Other breweries we've been to want to talk about their beer, but everyone here seems friendly but aloof. I've also been on weekends where they don't have enough people pouring to keep up with demand. I just really wish I enjoyed their beer. To be fair: I prefer porters and stouts and all of their beer is light, so I'm a little biased. However, they have a large selection and nothing really stands out to me. I agree with many who say the Creek Life is nice and would be enjoyable on a hot day. But for the most part they blend together and nothing stands out as a really amazing beer. To sum up: the location warrants four or five stars. The beer one or two. I'll be back as new beers are released and hope to be able to update my review! read more

Checked this place out last night for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the vibe inside the brewery, and enjoyed playing some board games that they had available for us. The bartenders were very friendly and so were the workers at the Boxcar food truck (food was delicious too!). I had a flight chock full of IPAs and NEIPAs- they were bomb!!! I'm a self-proclaimed NEIPA connoisseur and was so impressed by the quality of their beers. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere here! If nothing else I just come to play Jenga and stare into there brewing room! The way the place is set up you can look into the back at their giant tanks. Everyone who works here is super nice. The food trucks are always on point. Lots of seating, a great atmosphere, board games, oh and of course beer! Now my only criticism is that they only have light beers. Most of their beers are saison style, in my personal, non expert opinion, which I do like. A lot of light, crisp summer beer. I do love myself a good stout or porter in the winter and I hope that they come up with some heavier things for the cold summer months. Who doesn't love a meal in a glass! Made the trip down to check this place out for nostalgia reasons. When my brother and I were growing up, whenever we would make a good play in a sports game we would hear one of our parents scream 'ATTABOY!' from the stands. When I saw that there was a brewery by that name, I knew I had to stop in, try a few, and grab some gear. The beer was excellent; the venue was clean, modern, and fun. The food truck had some tasty options. The staff was friendly and the new hat I got is rad. Glad I made the trip. Keep up the good work! You guys definitely earned your 'ATTABOY' from me. read more

Second time here - first was 2017. Both times we brought subs (from Gemellis in Gaithersburg) for lunch. They do crowlers and the barrel house around the block sells large bottles as well. The beer is very good, between our two visits we pretty much liked everything. They're heavy on IPAs and pale ales, and the barrel house focuses on sours. All tasty and very good quality, and no overly complicated fruity beers or anything too experimental. The alcohol is pretty high on some of them, as much as 9 percent, so watch how much you have. They're very smooth and don't taste that strong! Pretty good selection of beers on tap, but flights are only 3 small glasses, so I'd suggest going for a pint. Any selection will probably be good. Lots of free parking (on weekends the office building across the street is okay to park) and very nice outdoor seating area on a patio and inside an open garage (it's in an industrial building). read more

Heard multiple good things about this brewery, so decided to check it out while in town. We arrived at 9pm and ordered our beer. They are a smaller brewery, so their selection is limited. I believe they had 6 beers on tap, give or take 1. I tried the Sporto. It had great color. The downside of the place is that they close at 10pm. Last call was at 930ish. We were only there enough to try one beer. The staff seemed friendly but do to time, we didn't get to talk to them much. read more

Loved this brewery! It has this very industrial feel that's very casual and comforting. The staff also helped with the friendly feel as well. I had the hefeweizen (6.4) and the golden strong (8.8) while I was there and they both were really good! You would think that the golden string being such a high % wouldn't be as light as it was but omg this is a dangerous beer! Try it! So good! Also love that they have a lot of different games to play.. board games, Jenga, connect 4, corn hole, ring toss, etc. Definitely give this brewery a try the next time you're in downtown Frederick you won't regret it! read more

The beer got my boyfriend and all his roommates so sick the day before graduation. They almost skipped their once in a lifetime graduation because of the beer. They were throwing up all night and until the late afternoon. They only had two beers (that were brand new release). They were miserable all ceremony and at subsequent graduation parties. They ate food before drinking and shared the same meal with other people who did not get sick. However the people that bought the new beer which are the 4 graduates were sick to their stomach for at least 24 hours. read more

First visit to this lively Utilitarian brewery. Fun place to bring friends and children. Everyone is having a good time. Nothing fancy with its concrete floors and block walls but that is part of the charm..the momentary sniff of old beer as entering through the loading dock lets you know this is a working establishment. Tried 4 brews. They were all drinkable beers that I would be happy to have again. They do seem to have a spread to meet most beer palates. IPA, Heffeweisen, Saison, etc. Enjoy! read more

My husband and I drove up to Frederick with our boys to check out Flying Dog, one of my husband's favorite breweries. They had to turn us away at the door as they do not admit anyone under 21 on the premises. Luckily, they were gracious about it and gave us a list of four other Frederick-area breweries that are family-friendly. We went to Attaboy, the first name on their list. Attaboy has a nice, chill vibe and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The beers were certainly good, but not great. The main disappointment was that the promised food truck, which usually opens on Sunday afternoons, was having major issues getting set up. They said it would be 20 minutes, I got in line again 20 minutes later and they again said it would be 20 minutes. That's ok. It was just that with a hungry husband and kids, we had been looking forward to eating while sampling beers (and delicious McCutcheon's root beer for the kids). Luckily, the owners must have understood that people needed some food and brought around baskets of assorted chips and snacks which they offered free of charge. That was greatly appreciated. All in all it was a fun and positive experience. :-) read more

Been stopping by here consistently for a few years because it's on the list of my favorite breweries. That should be enough to sway you to check the place out, but if not, you'll find a biased yet equitable review below. AB seems to embody the Frederick community - which is what makes breweries stand out these days. I feel like they've picked up little bits of the local culture over the years like a brewery bee building a hive for hop heads. They've established a rotation of local food truck vendors throughout the week and host some special events with independent crafters or beer swaps. The vibe is laid back. You can bring in outside food, your dog and even children (if bold enough). I always see folks around the shuffleboard table or tiki toss, and most people have one of the board games set up at their tables. For someone in their early 30's, it's nice to be able to invite friends with young kids to go get a beer and set up raging cribbage match. Staff is hilarious, and kind. Quick story - I stopped by on NYE one time to pick up some canned stuff and accidentally walked in on their team having a closed potluck party. Carly, one of the owners, just laughed and turned me away.. with two 4-packs of their latest stuff on the house. Pure class. Beer is beer. But if you're wondering, it's legit here, with options for non-beer drinkers as well. Styles generally include belgians, a range of IPAs, and the occasional saison. They have not offered anything in the scope of brown ales, porters, or stouts to my knowledge. This is a bummer. However their selection has evolved since opening and is always rotating, with a few perennials, which is a must for local fans. Attaboy is okay, nothing too much sets it apart from other breweries in Frederick. The inside is pretty big and they have tons of games to chose from and on weekends they have a foodtruck you can order form. It can be tough to find a spot to sit if you have a lot of people with you and ordering beer can take awhile sometimes. read more
