The nurses, CNAs, staff, therapists (OT, PT, Speech), doctors, and Zina were absolutely spectacular and very attentive to my mom's care and my many phone calls. I truly appreciate how this facility sets itself apart from the vast majority - they care about their patients. It's clean, the food is good, and the care is top notch. From the moment my grandma moved into Oakmont of Carmichael, we knew she was exactly where she needed to be. Lindy, who oversees the facility, is truly exceptional. She is kind, compassionate, accommodating, and genuinely cares about both the residents and their families. During every interaction, she made us feel heard, supported, and valued. Her leadership is reflected in the culture of the entire community. What stood out most to me was the staff in Memory Care. Every single person went above and beyond for my grandma. They were attentive, patient, loving, and treated her with dignity and respect. It never felt like they were simply doing a job--it felt like they truly cared about her as a person. As a family member who spent a great deal of time at the facility, I had the opportunity to get to know many of the caregivers, staff members, residents, and families. The warmth and genuine kindness I witnessed every day was something special. My grandma loved living there. There were always thoughtful activities to bring joy to the residents, from fun events like Mocktail Mondays to musical guests and entertainment throughout the week. The staff work hard to create meaningful moments and a sense of community for everyone who lives there. As my grandma's health declined, the care and compassion shown to her never wavered. Knowing that she spent her final days surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her brings our family an incredible amount of comfort. The facility is frequently cleaned and they provide lots of activities. The staff is kind and the Executive Director is amazing. She really tries to meet family needs with empathy. The food is better than you would expect and I have lunch here regularly with my mother in law. The central courtyard and outside gardens are well kept and peaceful. My wife has made friends with others dealing with their parents in memory care and it has truly been a community.

There are nice seating areas outdoors and in. In the main lobby is a WII, which was being used as we toured. I was impressed with the number of residents that were out an about and friendly and engaging. Other senior apartments did not seem to have as many happy residents. Only two meals are served each day, lunch and dinner, with a limited selection of choices, but apartments include a full (albeit small) kitchen. Apartments have a nice patio or balcony. There is only one elevator for the entire facility, which seems like a potential hazard if the residents on the second and third floors have mobility problems and need to be evacuated in an emergency. Hallways are covered with smooth industrial (though tastefully patterned) carpet. Apartments however, are carpeted in a deep plush. This makes it difficult for residents using walkers to maneuver in their own apartments. Winding Commons is owned by the same company as Campus Commons Senior Apartments. Winding Commons is the better of the two.

My mother spent the last 2 1/2 years of her life under the care of SOC and their very competent staff. I could not be happier to have provided my mother with the level of attention and compassion they give to all their clients. I had previously had my mother in a larger facility with a very high patient to staff ratio and was very disappointed in the level of care she was receiving. Moving her to a board and care facility, which I had never heard of before, turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. My mother was always taken very well well care of as their low client to staff ratio provides for much more attention to detail and personalized care. The manager Maria Williams is a particularly gifted person with decades of experience. She kept a constant eye on my mother and communicated with me regularly and very openly about the progression of her disease. She also took time to make sure that I was informed and Ok person ally during this time. She not only takes care of your loved ones, she also take care of you. The owners Martha and Bruce were always incredibly helpful with logistics around moving and anything else that might come up. If I ever had an issue they were always there to help me solve the problem. If you've never considered a board and care facility before I would highly recommend reaching out to SOC. Their facilities are not only beautifully appointed they're well-maintained, they take care of almost every detail you will encounter.

I could register a claim under a section of the business and professions code which would trigger treble damages for failure to pay. I sent the required letter to the proprietor, and lo and behold a cashiers check was delivered to my Mom and it did not bounce when cashed. It took a lot of work to get this money back. You should just be aware if your loved one stays in a care facility with monthly rates and they pass away, you are entitled to a refund for the unused portion of the month that they were not there to be cared for.

Laundry is now completely free, the dining menu has significantly improved with more variety and better food, and management is approachable, friendly, and genuinely receptive to resident feedback. It's refreshing to see a team that truly seems to care about making this community a better place to live. I believe this community offers exceptional value, especially for seniors living on a fixed income. You get a lot for your money, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for affordable independent senior living. Some of the repeated negative comments stem from frustrations with previous management and situations that occurred long before the current team arrived. All the staff that interact with us are very professional caring and knowledgeable. They offer so many activities that we have to make appointments with them so we don't interrupt bingo or happy hour. We recently attended a forth of July celebration with bbq, ice cream sundaes, and a live band. Everyone had a wonderful time. We have been to thanksgiving,Christmas, and st. Patrick's day celebrations. My wife and I have witnessed so many acts of kindness and respect by staff to the residents. I am a registered nurse and appreciate the low turner over of staff and the professionalism of the staff and management at Fair oaks estates. My wife and I feel very comfortable knowing that our mom's are safe and happy.

The care she received was phenomenal! She had the best care. I cannot speak highly enough about the beautiful facility, the quality of food, and the quality of care she received. They treated my mother, as well as the rest of the family with respect and genuine compassion during one of the toughest times of our lives. My mother passed away over a year ago and I am just now getting to posting about the experience we had. I couldn't bring myself to do it until now. I will never forget our experience. We could not have found anywhere better. I cannot speak highly enough of this facility. We were treated like family and my mother passed away peacefully after her short stay.
