Her foot, but the both look like this and worst

The cares sucks, I know for a fact that my Mother's friend is there, and prison would be more humane than this facility Sunrise. She looks awful legs and feet swollen, she's almost blind now due to the staff not putting her eye drops in her eyes daily. If you love your Parent(s) never use Sunrise of Carmichael, they regret it, and so will you. There are a few caring members of the staff, but that's it!! Unfortunately they aren't helping my Mother's friend. Those are her pictures posted.

I decided to pay a visit to a friend of mine that has been in this facility. I was appalled to see some pictures of her legs and the condition that they are in prior to my visit. So I decided to go in person to see. The outside of this facility and the downstairs look very lovely but once going upstairs it's almost like it's a lockdown. You need someone to enter a code to let you in and out .Once in, we knocked on our friend's door and it's locked from the outside so she basically was locked in her room. One of the staff members opened her door for us .The whole second floor smelled like urine. We were able to visit with our friend but we had to keep the door open to visit with her per a staff member there who was not too friendly. The heat was on in her room on 70. The temperature in her room was 85. When it's a lovely summer day outside, there's no reason for a heater to be on. Unbelievable ! I don't think the staff is caring for this individual very well because of the condition of her lower extremities. Why isn't a physician called for her? What is preventing care for her? It's obviously the staff doesn't care. It almost looks like some sort of elder abuse.

This time was even more difficult because of COVID and the statewide restrictions in place, which prevented family from visiting their loved ones, but for good reasons and safety of the patients and staff. For this reason and more, I couldn't have imagined sending her anywhere but Eskaton The Village. The nurses, CNAs, staff, therapists (OT, PT, Speech), doctors, and Zina were absolutely spectacular and very attentive to my mom's care and my many phone calls. I truly appreciate how this facility sets itself apart from the vast majority - they care about their patients. It's clean, the food is good, and the care is top notch. From the moment my grandma moved into Oakmont of Carmichael, we knew she was exactly where she needed to be. Lindy, who oversees the facility, is truly exceptional. She is kind, compassionate, accommodating, and genuinely cares about both the residents and their families. During every interaction, she made us feel heard, supported, and valued. Her leadership is reflected in the culture of the entire community. What stood out most to me was the staff in Memory Care. Every single person went above and beyond for my grandma. They were attentive, patient, loving, and treated her with dignity and respect. It never felt like they were simply doing a job--it felt like they truly cared about her as a person. As a family member who spent a great deal of time at the facility, I had the opportunity to get to know many of the caregivers, staff members, residents, and families. The warmth and genuine kindness I witnessed every day was something special. My grandma loved living there. There were always thoughtful activities to bring joy to the residents, from fun events like Mocktail Mondays to musical guests and entertainment throughout the week. The staff work hard to create meaningful moments and a sense of community for everyone who lives there. As my grandma's health declined, the care and compassion shown to her never wavered. Knowing that she spent her final days surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her brings our family an incredible amount of comfort. We will never forget the kindness, patience, and love that was shown to her during that time. To everyone at Oakmont of Carmichael: thank you. Thank you for caring for my grandma, for treating her with dignity, for supporting our family, and for making a difficult chapter of life a little easier. You made a difference in her life and in ours. She loved it there, and we will always be grateful that she called Oakmont home.

I moved my mom in a few months ago and, like many families, was a little concerned about the changes that were taking place. However, I've been very impressed with the new management company. The new Executive Director has been attentive, positive, and genuinely engaged, which gives me confidence that the community will continue moving in the right direction. No community is perfect, but when you compare the cost of senior living today with what The Landing provides, there is a tremendous amount of value here. The staff has been caring, the residents are friendly, and my mom has been happy with her experience. If you're looking for an affordable independent living option for a senior parent or loved one on a fixed income, I highly recommend taking a look at The Landing at Carmichael.

Over the years, this community has been managed by several different companies, each with its strengths and weaknesses. The current management company took over in June of this year and inherited quite a few problems from previous management. Since then, they've been doing a fantastic job addressing longstanding issues, making improvements, and creating a more positive living environment, all while navigating some challenging situations. Some of the improvements have been wonderful! Laundry is now completely free, the dining menu has significantly improved with more variety and better food, and management is approachable, friendly, and genuinely receptive to resident feedback. It's refreshing to see a team that truly seems to care about making this community a better place to live. I believe this community offers exceptional value, especially for seniors living on a fixed income. You get a lot for your money, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for affordable independent senior living. No community is perfect, but the progress being made here deserves recognition. I also encourage anyone reading reviews to consider the full picture. Some of the repeated negative comments stem from frustrations with previous management and situations that occurred long before the current team arrived. Others appear to come from individuals with personal grievances, including disputes over unpaid rent. While everyone is entitled to share their experiences, I think it's important to recognize that not every review provides a fair or complete representation of what's happening here today. As someone who has actually lived here through multiple management changes, I can confidently say that the current team is making a meaningful difference. They deserve credit for the improvements they've made and the difficult work they're doing to turn things around. I'm happy to call this community home, and I'm excited to see it continue to improve!

She moved in with us, and it was then we learned that while she was physically pretty fit at 90-ish, she was experiencing some significant cognitive and memory issues. Because of her limited income, we were able to secure a Med-Cal subsidy for her memory care residential expense. We personally checked out all types of facilities that accepted Medi-Cal recipients, and Courtyard Terrace (under CiminoCare) was the only one that "checked all our boxes": --Memory Care --Smaller facility (approx 40 residents max) --A home-like atmosphere: open access to a small outdoor courtyard, a spacious and cheerful cafeteria, an activity room on the small side but where residents are encouraged to socialize instead of remaining alone in their rooms. What the facility lacks in modern and "spiffy", it is a comfortable place where there is always some interaction going on among residents and staff. It doesnʻt feel cold and clinical, as some of the larger facilities with Memory Care did. --Appropriate staffing levels: there always seems to be staff working throughout the facility, helping residents, completing daily tasks, assisting family visitors. --And the Clincher for us: at least a few Spanish-speaking staff, since my Mother-in-Law has reverted back to speaking Spanish, although she is still able to understand English. Finally and Most Importantly: My mother-in-law has lived at Courtyard Terrace for 2 1/2 years now. Their on-site Administrator, Magda Luis and her "second-in-command", Jamie, have handled all our momʻs administrative paperwork and medical needs promptly and without any issues. They communicate with us immediately if a problem arises. They make every effort to address our concerns in a friendly and caring way. Similarly Courtyardʻs Caregiver staff have been handling our momʻs personal care patiently and professionally. We can see that she is being well-taken care of physically. After my sister complaining about things my mother was doing while living with her I decided to look for a little apartment for her to live on her own. After spend a few days with my mother it was clear that there was no way that she could live on her own ever again. This was right in the heart of Covid so I had to scramble to find a memory care facility that I could place her in as I live in Oregon and she wasn't willing to move from Sacramento. A friend told me about Eastern Manor as her friends mother had lived there in the past. They accepted my mother and after her living there for two years I would come visit her every month and take her out for a drive and spread her wings. Her room was always clean and tidy as was the whole facility. The staff was always friendly and caring. Never ever had one problem during her two year stay. It's a wonderful environment and the grounds are so beautiful and tropical. I could only hope for such care if I ever get in a situation that I need that level of care. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.
