Wonderful, caring staff at Eskaton Gold River Our family recently moved my dad to Eskaton Gold River, and we couldn't be happier with how quickly he has adjusted. The staff has been incredibly warm, kind, patient, and hardworking, and it gives our family tremendous peace of mind knowing he is in good hands. Billy, Marsha, and Cassie have been especially wonderful about keeping us but the entire care team deserves recognition. They genuinely take the time to get to know the residents and make them feel comfortable and welcome. They even know my dad's favorite breakfast--two eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon or sausage, toast, and fruit! They make it for him every morning. And they have been so warm and welcoming to my dad's dog when she visits. They have a great outside courtyard where dad and his dog Coalee can play and enjoy the comforts of home. After a comprehensive and exhaustive search, I decided on Eskaton Village in Gold River for my moms recovery from a broken hip/partial replacement at 86 (ouch) After 1 month in skilled/rehab, 1 additional month in care, mom was back home. After another month of continuous rehab/PT, mom was living independently again dancing (slowly and surely), playing cards, volunteering and being as active as ever. 5 months total after breaking her hip, she was on a plane for a once in a lifetime trip back to NY to see her Grandson get married. They ask questions and encourage and praise them when they are working and improving their mobility and well-being. The executive director and the memory care executive director are compassionate and work in collaboration to meet the residents needs for individualized care. My LO has been here less than 3 years and flourished. She didn't move eagerly but we felt it best to try living near her peers and in a setting where meals and activities are provided, allowing her kids to be her kids and not her mom. The facility staff are very friendly and loving. They are super responsive to all concerns and seem to try their best to respond. My only complaint is the decor has gone WAY downhill. It used to be 'lodge like" in appearance with earth tones and wood tones, and now it's got blue paint everywhere and the color scheme is less comfy and more institutional. I give the Eskaton Designer a huge "F" because they never involved the residents or the families. They even uglied up the sign out front to look white, bleak, and not in keeping with Gold River earth tones. If it were not for terrible interior design, I'd give five stars. read more

My dear mother has been an assisted living resident at Eskaton Lodge Gold River for two years. She has been pleased with the care she has received from the dedicated staff. She receives assistance with her medications, bathing, and dressing. I visit my mom often and have personally witnessed the staff extending friendly and professional care to my mother, from administration, nursing, recreation, housekeeping, and food service divisions. The activities staff provides lots of events in which my mom loves to participate: movie nights, music concerts, cooking/ craft classes, pet visits, spa days, chaperoned weekly field trips, grocery shopping outings, and bingo/blackjack games. The well-maintained assisted living facility has modern decor, a large dining room, a comfortable lobby, wide halls, a sunroom with a grand piano, a library, a movie theater, and a landscaped patio. My mother's air-conditioned unit is very comfortable with a spacious living area which includes a small kitchenette (equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven), and a separate bedroom with a large accessible bathroom and walk-in closet. My mom finds the meals adequate but repetitive; she would enjoy a more varied menu which includes authentic ethnic foods, sparkling flavored waters that do not contain any sugar/false sugars, and larger protein portions. Prior to living at ELGR, my mother was living alone and suffered a few falls. She is definitely safer, more active, and eating healthier since she moved to ELGR. read more

The staff, the management, the residents everyone at Eskaton Lodge Gold River are awesome! The staff are always very attentive to anyone asking for any type of help, little or big. This place is very peaceful and calm yet live and cheerful. The food that that they prepare you will never find anywhere. The meals are always varied and surprise you with every bite. The residents here are taken very good care of, despite their levels of care. If you are looking for a place to take care of any seniors you might have or know this would be the place. read more

My Father was brought here from the hospital. He was there for 3 weeks. The first night he fell out of bed and had cuts on him that they cleaned and put foam bandages on them. They called me right away and informed me. I was really pleased. Second night he was there, he woke up to someone going through his wallet. His roommate informed me the next morning, he was so surprised how alert my Father was to know what was going on. Third night, both my Dad and his roommate tried to get the staffs attention for help so my Dad could get to the bathroom. No one came and my Dad soiled himself. Evidently it took quite a while before they cleaned him up. After two weeks of physical therapy he still couldn't walk up a step, so they kept him another week. My Dad is 91 so they didn't really bother with him. They were much better with the younger ones. I observed them not answering the buzzers or lights out in front of the rooms, the Doctor I overheard him say, he's 91, come on. Like because of his age they aren't going to get him better. I personally have a friend 97 that jogs a mile every morning and started at 87. They're food is hot and my Father wasn't able to eat it. They were not going to get him anything else and just said he didn't want to eat. He ended up very dehydrated when he left. They were to send him home with different programs and he got 2 out of the six. I noticed when families weren't around the care went down hill. One nurse was wonderful, but he was only part time. The full-time people were not very good from nursing care to physical therapy. I don't know of a better place but I suggest you look! read more

If you want individual attention for your loved one don't use this facility. My husband had dementia but didn't like participating in their group activities. Thus he was left alone in his room unsupervised or left to roam the halls without any individual care. Staff are not trained to defuse anger issues and use physical force to diffuse situations rather than take their time with patients to work through their issues. They are severely under staffed in their memory care unit. Despite their affirmation they watch residents via security cameras they were never able to confirm seeing video of falling incidents my husband experienced yet he frequently had cuts and bruises on him. When he needed one on one supervision I was forced to pay for 24/7 outside healthcare provider services without being given any other options other than immediately take my husband from the facility. I paid for these services even while he slept. When I did move him they delayed Covid testing causing me to pay for an additional 24 hours of caregiver services at $34 an hour before I was able to move him. Then since he was there less than 90 days I was entitled to 40% refund of the maintenance fee I paid. I had to call this to their attention and it took me 4 months to get it reimbursed to me. Don't place your loved one here. They are all about the money. They put on a good show when family is visiting but when family isn't there your loved one will be neglected or shuffled around. My husband had was so unhappy at this facility. I've moved him and he is now thriving elsewhere where he is receiving compassionate and patient care. read more

Have a relative here for memory care. I like that they are in a big chain, I'm not the one paying for it or overseeing it, but when I come by the center or lodge is clean, safe, stress free, and smells good. Smell is important at these places!!! read more

I looked at more than a dozen assisted living facilities before choosing Eskaton Lodge Gold River. It is conveniently located near my home and work. The staff is professional and caring. They go out of their way to meet the needs of the residents. They were very accommodating in providing two respite stays before my mom was willing to relocate to the area. The staff's compassion and empathy was so appreciated as we were making this decision to leave her home and get more assistance. I am relieved to have her well cared for and close by. Making this decision is not easy and the staff is there to help you every step of the way. read more

As my mom grew frail, we knew it was time to move to an assisted living community, but which one? We visited many, but the feeling you get when are greeted by staff at Eskaton Lodge Gold River convinced us that this was the place. Plus the building is beautiful. My mom loved her private apartment and joined in on many of the fun activities. When we found out she had cancer, we thought we would have to move her to a more intense level of care, but they wanted her to stay in her familiar surroundings. And they literally surrounded her (and me) with love and care. And helped us both through the hospice process. I would highly recommend Eskaton Lodge Gold River. read more

Our family has been very pleased with our decision to relocate Mom to Eskaton Lodge Gold River, Memory Care. We have been impressed with the high quality of the programs, the lovely facility, and the well-trained, caring staff. Everyone is helpful and friendly and so caring towards the residents. Mom especially loves the music performances, Kids Connection and the variety of activities throughout the day. The staff goes the extra mile to make life simpler for families. Services such as medical appointments, hair cuts, manicures, and pharmacy deliveries are available in-house. This alleviates many of the errands that we juggled in the past when Mom was at a different facility. At Eskaton Lodge Gold River we can enjoy our visits with her and not have to manage the appointment calendar or make pharmacy runs. It gives me peace of mind to know that Mom is receiving such high quality of care and that she is so content in her new home. read more

I had the opportunity to visit Eskaton Lodge Gold River about a week ago. At the time a celebration was going on inside. The room was filled with purple and green decorations to give the feel of new Orleans, all the residents were dressed up in beads and colorful masks, and there was a live band playing wonderful music. The staff members were very friendly and it was nice to see how they made sure all the residents were taken care off and enjoying themselves. read more

This place is clean, but the dinning room is a disaster, they always have food on the floor, I think they sweep the floor one time a day, its nasty, the food is always the same and takes for ever, the kids in the kitchen are always playing around I'm not sure why they dont hire adults, im disappointed how nasty it is. I'm definitely going to move my mother soon I can't take it any more. I've also told the rest of my family to also rate their experience with this hole in the wall. read more
