Executive director Pouya and marketing coordinator Marissa are just wonderful. They go out of their way to attend to the residents. I have made many friends here and there are lots of activities. My favorite is bingo and rummikub. There is always something to do. Outdoor excursions, shopping shuttle on Friday's. There is nothing to want here. Everything is all taken care of.

And our father was extremely pleased to be a resident and member of the community. The one thing that stood out for him and our family was the relationships that were formed with all levels of staff. Our father referred to Oakmont as his family. Our father spend the last 9 months of his life at Oakmont. Each day was different with many things that were offered and available to him. He took the bus tours, he played (and a force to be reckoned with) Bingo. He started a putting club and got people interested in putting around on a green. He enjoyed the entertainment that came in regularly for "sing song" as he like to say. And he really enjoyed the themed holiday decorations that came out. He felt a part of. The care staff did a fabulous job keeping him informed and with any kind of assistance. When he had a question they were eager to help. Everyone knew his name and he appreciated being recognized and talked to like a friend or family member. Anything he needed was taken care of. Any questions that came up, the staff communicated with our family and were also available to answer any of our questions. The Chef and Dining experience. Oakmont of Fair Oaks did not serve "restaurant" food each day. They served gourmet meals that were very delicious. The staff formed relationships with our father and he came to have a standing order, "the usual". For the holidays we as his family were invited in to share in holiday celebrations. If you appreciate direct and open communication with your questions answered or additional clarification needed from the family. And you value the forming of relationships, personal relationships, Oakmont of Fair Oaks did both of those with our father and my brother and I. My father felt as though he was at home and could spend the remaining months of his life with people who cared about him.

They only get to eat at their three scheduled meals and that is the only time they get anything to drink. They lose weight they become dehydrated. All of them. They will not listen to any family members they do whatever they want they constantly complain and want to put them on drugs. They don't report to the family when the loved one is in critical condition needing to go to the hospital. They swear there's nothing wrong. They lie all the time. They yell at the residence and they also yell at the family. They were not allowed to watch TV. There are no activities or anything for them to do. There is no entertainment whatsoever at any time. They are not allowed to go outside. They will try to dictate to you when you can come see your person and how many times you can come and they want you to call before you come. Carolyn tricks everybody into thinking that everything she says is right and she knows what she's doing because she's a Gerontologist. They have no clue how to handle anyone that has dementia or Alzheimer's. The residents that have a little bit of their mind left still, are afraid of them. The place is a rundown piece of junk. The yard front and back is never taken care of. It's not kept clean inside. The residents aren't kept clean. No matter what the owner gets cited on or in trouble for in that facility and how its ran she goes right back to doing it again. The owner will call you a liar to your face and try to act like she is in charge of your family member and you have no say. No matter what facility you choose, Do your homework and know your rights and residents rights and read the social services website about the facility it will show you all complaints, citations and visits that the state has made. Don't ever let any facility intimidate you or treat you like you have no right. But employees administrators and owners should always treat you with the utmost respect and be very kind. And it doesn't matter who has the power of attorney over the resident. If you are a friend of that person or a family member they damn well better listen to you. Don't put anybody you know in this place ever please believe the reviews that are on Google believe the reviews in Yelp. Hopefully this place won't be available for anyone else to make a deadly mistake.

I noticed when I first walked in with my mom that all the residents appeared heavily medicated, I soon learned why. My mom in a place she had never been before made 3 attempts to walk outside each time she was told no and listened. Then was singing with the group, talking and then went to join them for lunch. This is when I went back to the assistants office to complete paperwork. Then what do you know another phone call. Seems after having me spend a good part of yesterday in the doctors office to complete all necessary test. I called and told her they were completed she said great, she was busy trying to leave for vacation but wanted me there at 11am today so she could personally evaluate her along with here assistant and to bring all items to stay. Now back to the phone call, it seems she was too busy to see me and felt mom was a flight risk because she went to the door 3 times. (If no body ever goes to the door why the alarms?) She ask me to keep mom at home for another week and get her properly medicated then try again. ( thats code for vacation )Morel to this story, they talk up activities but want residents to be to medicated to participate Wasted a lot of time here price is cheap compared to most but you get what you pay for. As for me I wouldn't leave my dog there for any price. No morales or integrity. T.J. Auburn, ca P.s This is the same company/person that owner Lakeview Terrace in Auburn, ca

Having been there, I know how hard this transition can feel. I don't have enough words to express the difference Ophelia, and the staff at Phoenix Manor of Fair Oaks CA have made in both my Mother's life, and that of our family . My Mom has been a resident at Phoenix Manor for the past 3 years. We chose this place after an exhaustive, and often demoralizing search of other facilities. Once I met Ophelia, I knew our search was over. The care, love, and attention she gives her residents is a beautiful thing to witness. They truly do become apart of her family. Everyone is treated with so much empathy and respect, and cared for as individuals with individual needs. Before we moved Mom in, we were free to personalize her room with things she loved from home. This made the transition so much smoother. The food at Phoenix Manor is home cooked, healthy, and delicious. The home is kept immaculate, and all the residents are tended to with T.L.C. Ophelia was even available to help with Doctor appointments. Mom's quality of life was greatly improved by her time spent there. My Mom had many struggles, especially in the last few months of her life. It would have been impossible to navigate them or provide proper care at home. The dignity and care with which was provided by the Phoenix Manor team are immeasurable. As she entered the final days of her life, words fail in describing the gratitude I feel for the amount of love, tenderness and compassionate care she received from everyone at Phoenix Manor. We have laughed and cried together, and everyone there will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

When the…read morehospital planned to discharge him, we realized he wasn't ready to go home alone and would need assistance to regain his strength. We toured Carlton Senior Living and were impressed with the facility. However, after less than three weeks, we discovered it wasn't suitable for him and moved him out. While the staff were friendly, the place was clean, the food was good, and the grounds were pleasant, it was not a fit for someone like my father that needed more assistance. Knowing what I do now, the place is ideal for those who want to avoid housework, engage in activities, and not cook. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for someone needing assistance with basic tasks like using the bathroom or showering. My dad required more help, which led to significant additional costs--almost doubling the original quote. The staff didn't respond quickly enough when he needed assistance. On one occasion, he needed assistance and couldn't wait any longer for help. He tried to get up by himself and fell, hitting his head and requiring paramedics. I also requested multiple times that his night lamp be connected to the Alexa outlet for voice control, but that never happened. He was frustrated with the lack of assistance, in a timely manner, so we looked for alternatives. After moving him out, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $10,000 more than expected. This added to the emotional stress I was already experiencing. After pointing this out, the bill was corrected but I should not have had to do their accountants job. We eventually moved my father to a board-and-care residential facility, which is providing the care he truly needs, and I wish we had made that choice from the beginning.

Thank you guys for really putting the residents first!
