I'm writing with a BIG thank you for Senior Care Solutions, and their care and expertise in placing my mom into care. I reached out to Senior Care Solutions near the end of October. My mom had been taken to the ER and it was time to start looking for care options. Christine met with my mom and I the next day and we discussed the need for care. On Halloween my mom fell, resulting in another trip to the ER. I contacted Christine that day (a Sunday) and didn't expect to hear from her until Monday morning. To my relief, she called back right away and began looking for places that would accept my mom. I found out later that Christine wasn't even home while she was doing this! And it was a Sunday and everyone was getting ready for Halloween--this was truly above and beyond. Many of the facilities she contacted would not take mom because she needs a high level of care. She continued to call places and look for solutions, keeping me informed the whole time, until mom was placed. There's no way I would have known who to call or how to get mom placed, especially since I was so worried about her being in the ER again. We recently ended up in a situation where we needed to find assisted care for my father-in-law in fairly short order. Unfortunately, it was difficult to find a facility that was a great fit for dad and also fit our budget. I could not be more impressed with and grateful for this organization and the help they provided for my family. My elderly (but capable of living independently) retired parents and disabled sister were told they had 60 days to find a new home when the owner of the house they were renting decided to sell it. I was panicked - they have very little income and I just couldn't figure out how they were going to find another place that they could afford. I got the referral to Senior Care Solutions from Lee Mahla, the wonderful realtor who helped my husband and I find our home here, and called them right away. As my family and I combed craigslist, zillow, government websites looking for subsidized housing, and came up empty, Amanda from Senior Care Solutions got back to me WITHIN THE SAME WEEK THAT I CONTACTED HER and had found two possible solutions for my family, one of which was absolutely perfect and even better than their current living situation in so many ways - within their budget! I cannot thank Amanda and Senior Care Solutions enough for the professional, above and beyond help she provided for us. Amanda was responsive by phone and email and gave us all the information we needed to move forward, then checked in afterwards to see how it all went. She and the team at SCS clearly collaborated beautifully and really thought outside the box to find a home that would fit our unusual situation (my family was living outside of the Sacramento area, so relocating, low income, a mix of ages (my sister is only 44 while my parents are in their early 70s), all capable of independent living...and they were able to find something so quickly that suited all of those needs and more. Christine helped our family make some critical decisions when both parents' health had declined to the point that we knew drastic changes were needed. I can't say enough kind words about Carol Kinsel She performed a miracle for a forgotten wheelchair bound, cognitively disabled, 58 year old woman, who was left alone and penniless to simply fend for herself after her creepy stepfather died in January. He knew he was dying and made no provisions for her whatsoever. She was living in a make-shift room in the garage. A neighbor took pity on her and brought her food. Finally,10 months later the neighbor worked her way through the system and got Debbie's benefits restored (they were cut off when the step father died). After dealing with several state and local people that were no help whatsoever, Juliane Bigelow (Thank you!) from Care Quest in Walnut Creek (925-935-8811) referred us to Carol-who recognized the severity of the situation immediately and moved mountains to make sure this woman had a new, safe place to live. It was not an easy task because of her limited income, but she made it happen. Carol is a good woman, with a good heart, who truly cares about the welfare of others. Thank you again, Carol. read more
