Some from this company reached out after I did a cost estimator inquiry online to set an adequate budget for a roof replacement we were looking to have done. Someone came out the next day, he was very pushy, took a look in my attic and immediately started sighting various things that were done incorrectly and that would be expensive to fix etc. Sounded like typical over selling marketing. I had 3 other companies come out that day, and none mentioned any of these things. All 3 other companies were in and out and took less than an hour for the total inspection. The rep from Atom builders wanted to sit in my dining room and negotiate with a pen and paper and phone calls to his manager to get the best price on the table. Which their initial quote was 3x more than any other bid. The man would not leave until I told him I needed to be at another appointment and even then it was a struggle to get him out of my house. Very unprofessional and intrusive. They continued to call my cell for the next 3-4 days with their quoted price dropping by another $10K each and every voicemail they left. This is not the kind of company you want to entrust your home to. There are other more honest and trustworthy businesses out there. read more

I'm sharing this experience so others--especially families--can avoid the dangerous mistakes we lived through due to Atom Builders. They were hired to re-roof our 1920s apartment building in Santa Ana. Despite clear forecasts days ahead, they left the roof uncovered during a storm. The building flooded. Ceilings collapsed. Water soaked walls, floors, insulation, and electrical. Mold began growing rapidly. Instead of taking responsibility, Atom Builders immediately began downplaying everything. They started demolition work without pulling permits or performing mandatory testing for lead or asbestos--even though the building is nearly 100 years old. The project manager, Art, told me "this isn't my first rodeo" and tried to deflect when I pushed for proper environmental testing. I'm a designer and engineer who works in construction--I knew how serious this was. He claimed "mold takes 3-6 months to form," which contradicts clear guidance from the CDC and EPA, who state that mold can begin forming in 24-48 hours. When pressed, they sent someone claiming to be a certified mold technician. He used a phone app with a thermal feature to "inspect" for mold, then admitted he was still "taking classes" and never provided a license or certification. He was not independent--he worked for them. It took a report to the City of Santa Ana for the truth to come out: no permits had been pulled, and no official testing had been done. The city ordered Atom Builders to stop all work immediately. Only then was a third-party tester brought in--but they were clearly guided to test a few select locations instead of inspecting the full extent of the water damage. Even so, lead was detected in the paint, contradicting the landlord's claims that all materials had been updated. Our family--including our 1-year-old--was displaced and told to find an Airbnb "for a week." That week turned into over a month. We fronted the full cost--more than $5,000--and were only reimbursed after threatening legal action. Other tenants are still waiting to be paid back, having racked up credit card debt just to find shelter. When we finally returned, we found our home poorly repaired: walls still damp, lead dust in corners, paint sloppily applied over outlets, switches, and furniture. They left cleaning products half-used, trash in our toilet, and paint across our floors. This wasn't a miscommunication. This wasn't a tough customer. This was a company caught red-handed cutting corners, falsifying testing, and exposing residents--including children--to real, preventable health risks. Harry was the first to call me after I posted my need for fixing my leaking patio roof using silicone. He impressed me with his understanding of the situation & also took initiative to clean my drain gutters. I was very pleased. After a few more estimates which were quite a bit more, I chose Atom Builders because Harry showed me his willingness to serve my needs. He also gave the best price & value. They also were responsive to come even the day it might rain. They almost got done, but then it started raining. They had to come back another day to finish the job which they did. That really impressed me that Harry sent someone even though there was the chance of rain. They sufficiently stopped any leak with the one coat. But the second coat was smooth & very nice. I used atom builders out of Glendale. The salesman was pushing. The quote they were trying to give me was 36k. Then they said they could do it for 27k because. They were going to use labor and dump from other job. But they still charged me $6750 for tear off and disposal. I went on roofing to see what would cost for my roof it said between 12k and 32k for a shingle roof. The I had to change my ply wood because I have 3/8 and I needed half inch. So that was another 21k or they said the permit might not pass. So my total bill was 50655. There work suck for how much they charge. They did not even paint that is shown in open weather. They did not clean up all there trash. You call them out on it they say I will get someone out there. Three days later nothing I clean up for them my self. I am still waiting for copy of permit. It should of been done in 1 week took almost 3 weeks. They complain about other companies. But they are no better. I had to keep telling them why u using staples if you said. That the other person used staples and they said that is wrong. I had them remove solar to get roof replaced they kept saying we will be here at this time and don't show up. This job should of cost 32k for everything but they over charged. I had 6 people lined up for quotes but they kept saying how great they are. I will never use them or tell anyone about them. Do not use them you will regret it. They charge 10 dollars sq foot. For my area it should be between 4 and 6 dollars for shingles. read more

I don't usually go out of my way to leave a bad review of a company, but in this case I feel it necessary. We were collecting bids from several roofing companies to re-shingle our roof. This company was the only one that felt scammy. Pressure sales tactics and classic techniques of giving a super high price to then "call the supervisor to see what we can do" to then lower the price to a still-too-high amount. Shenanigans. But before the price was even given the sales rep was adamant about putting down a "start date" for the project. I repeatedly said we weren't signing anything and they don't need a start date to give me a bid. He wouldn't budge. He got on the phone with his supervisor and they went back and forth. He was at my house for almost 3 hours. We ended up having to kick him out, all the while they are asking what's keeping us from making a decision. They refused to take "due diligence" as an acceptable response and continued with their pushy tactics. I would warn any potential customers to beware of this shady company.
