High praise for Harry, the project manager, and various crews who showed great workmanship, professionalism, and courtesy, from start to finish. They tore off the decades-old roof, replaced rotted wood, installed overlayment, installed underlayment, installed attic vents, and color matched all elements as requested. They totally replaced my asphalt shingles, and provided us with a beautiful, up to code, new roof with a warranty that will last for the rest of my life on the planet! This company runs like a well-oiled machine with high efficiency and expertise that comes from extensive experience. I received ongoing excellent communications from Harry throughout the project without any extra complications or fear of abandonment. They finished the entire job with city permits and inspections within 7 business days. Not once did I feel like I would be stuck with an incomplete job by a distracted contractor. All of my questions and concerns were addressed within reasonable timeframes and with respect. I am completely satisfied in July 2026 and know that we are ready for any predictions of stormy weather during the coming winter season(s). I am glad to know that this company offered a warranty to call them if any problems arise in the distant future so that they can fix it. This is also what you value and pay for - help with future issues if they arise. This company did not give me the lowest estimate, but Harry stood out from the other companies I collected estimates from because he was very thorough in his inspection and very clear about what his company could do for us as a highly rated, licensed business. This company takes pride in its work and in making sure all of the permits and procedures take place in an orderly, legal manner. read more

Horrible back and forth. Told I was going to be charged a fee for after hours (requested after 5pm) scheduled during their regular hours and was still told I was going to be charged a fee. They tried rescheduling me the morning of my appointment to an earlier time, these people think we don't have other things to do. I had already taken time off work for it. I can only imagine how poor their service would be if I went with them. Stay away. read more

I have hired these guys twice to work on my clay tile roof. The first time was 2 years ago to replace about 40 tiles that were broken when I had the house tented for termites. They were just here again to fix two old leaks by the fireplace and a skylight that were due to improper flashing when the house was built (not related to their previous work). They are professional, competent, and communicate very well. read more

I had a great experience with Essential Builders. They worked on my 1,500 sq. ft. wood shake roof, installing new sun-efficient underlayment that works perfectly with my insulation and new solar panels. Vic, my project manager and the team, was excellent, everyone communicated every step clearly and made the process seamless for my family. In addition to the roof, they also took care of mold issues in my bathroom using licensed contractors who replaced the affected wood and insulation and handled the entire job thoroughly and professionally. Harry G. Very professional and efficient. Great customer service. Will go the extra mile to help.

I wholeheartedly recommend Essential Builders for all your renovation needs. We just had an entirely new roof put on our home due to rotting wood and broken tiles, and this company made that huge project as painless as it could be. They were not the cheapest quote I got, but obviously a roof is not something you want to skimp too much on, and they also were not the most expensive. This company completed the work on time, and didn't cut any corners. They were always available to answer my questions and took care to explain every step. From Moe's attention to detail, to Harry's always being available and Vic's expertise, I really felt like I found the best company for not only our roof, but any future building/renovation needs I may have. I have already recommended them to a friend, who also found them to be polite, respectful, knowledgeable and fair. Thanks for a job well done, guys! Our new roof looks great!! read more

I had such an amazing experience working with Essential Builders! This review is mainly because of David, who made this whole process of re-doing my roof so smooth and stress free. From the very first meeting, David was professional, honest, and truly cared about the quality of the work. He walked me through every step of the process and made sure I felt comfortable and informed the whole way through, which means a lot to me. After meeting with other deceitful and rude companies, it was clear as day to me that David & his team from Essential were the perfect fit. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were incredible -- everything came out exactly how I envisioned it (actually, better!). You can tell David takes pride in his work and doesn't cut corners. He delivered on time, stayed within budget, and kept communication clear throughout the project. I felt so relieved to find them and see the final product!! Great customer service and fantastic craftsmanship. I would definitely hire them again. read more

Did a great job! Thank you David! Understanding and met all my requests. Will only be using you for all future projects.

We had wind damage that broke around 50-60 clay roof tiles. We were hoping to get a quick repair just in case of rain. We called Essential Builders on Sunday. They came out, inspected, showed us pictures of the damage, and quoted on Monday. They found replacement matching tiles for our tri-color roof. Then, on Saturday, in about 4-5 hours, the job was done. They showed us pictures of the entire completed job. All done beautifully. George, David & Moe were professional and courteous. Hopefully we don't need their services again - but if we do, we will call. We definitely recommend them. read more

Gary and William from Essential Builders were amazing to work with. My skylight blew off a few days ago because of the wind storm. They came to take a look and were able to quickly fix the problem. They also investigated my other skylights and sealed those as well. Lastly, they cleaned all the skylights for me as a kind gesture! They were such nice guys, honest, prompt, professional and just overall great to work with. Will definitely choose them for other future services as well. read more

Due to the recent high winds, we needed to replace our roof. We chose Essential Builders because of their excellent reviews, and our initial meeting with David put us at ease regarding all planning. Overall the job went really well. There was a little confusion regarding the scope of some additional planned repairs, so my recommendation to future customers would be to be sure that the scope of work document is as specific/detailed as possible. However, David was fantastic in making sure all our concerns were taken care of and that we were happy with their work. The cost of getting a new roof won't ever be great, but knowing that it's guaranteed for 50 years is comforting. I would highly recommend Essential Builders! read more

Had a small leak we hadn't been able to fix ourselves, just covered it elaborately & wanted to get it fixed before the next heavy rain. A friend suggested them so we setup an estimate along with 2 other companies. David came for the estimate, he answered my dad's questions & showed whats causing it. Got a few more estimates & decided to schedule the work because the guy seemed honest & the price was fair. The team was on time, polite, worked quick & neat. This was last year & So far so good. read more

This review is twofold. The job itself and the employees representing the company. I will say, the project manager Moe, was exemplary. Moe, is detailed when explaining what needed to be done. Moe advised the sheathing appeared to be in good shape. Demolition was begun. On a subsequent visit, Moe was accompanied by his superior, David. This is why the three stars. After David went to look at the roof, the disenchantment began. The original estimate was 15K. David stated the sheathing wouldn't pass inspection. Also, the insulation was basically gone. He said the nails used were incorrect. The sheathing was not up to code. His words," I can guarantee it won't pass inspection." To replace the sheathing and insulation was an additional 27K or so. I decided against new insulation and gave the go-ahead. After a stressful night, I called Moe to delay and have the inspection done. In the meantime, I did my due diligence. I called the manufacturer (it's a mobile home). I was told, everything is done to Federal standards. David, also said the width of the OSB was not enough. My housemate has a friend who has done roof repairs, come and take a look. He assured us it would pass. The inspector came, lo and behold it passed. Now, I don't know if David is ignorant regarding codes, mobile homes or he was trying to upsell and scam an old lady. Either one is not acceptable. The final inspection was today, it passed. So far I am pleased with the job done. Again, Moe was great, always kept me apprised of the work being done. Do your due diligence. read more
