To begin with, none of the elevators were working, which meant constantly walking up and down three flights of stairs, even having to carry our 50 lb luggage up three flights of steps. This was especially frustrating given that there were no phones in the room to contact the front desk, so every question or request required a physically exhausting trip. Upon check-in, we were assigned a room that was already occupied, which was both uncomfortable and concerning. Once we were finally placed in the correct room, things didn't improve. Our room was never cleaned during our stay, and the bathtub was clogged, making it difficult to use. We had to keep going to the front desk for more towels, coffee, cups, etc. Basic amenities were also lacking. There were no ice machines or ice buckets available, and we had to go all the way to the front desk just to get pool towels and ice. By the time we got back to our room, the ice was half melted. The pool area itself was poorly maintained, fruit from nearby trees was scattered across the concrete, creating a slippery hazard that caused one guest to fall. The chairs, tables, and cabanas were filthy. The hot tub was also broken, which was one of the many reasons for choosing this place. To make matters worse, maintenance crews were leaf blowing and weed whacking around the pool for over an hour, completely disrupting what should have been a relaxing environment. The pool bartender was also unpleasant and unwelcoming, which only added to the overall negative experience. The servers were awesome and were always asking if we needed anything. Between the lack of functioning elevators, cleanliness issues, safety concerns, and poor service, this stay was incredibly frustrating and not at all what we expected. We even have a picture of a security guard sleeping on the sofa in the lobby area, one night we came home. He didn't even wake up when we went inside and were talking. I would not recommend this hotel and hope management takes these issues seriously, as significant improvements are clearly needed. The front desk workers were the only pleasant and helpful employees. The amenities this hotel claims it has, is far off from the truth.

When we arrived, we didn't have to wait long at reception. The check-in was quick, smooth and seamless. Parking was easy as well, there is some covered parking, but that lot was typically full. There is additional parking on site as well that is uncovered and provided easy access to get to the elevator. When we entered the room, it was bright and nice and clean, and had all the signs of a good vacation! I loved most that this hotel had a small kitchenette so that we could buy some snacks and drinks for the room. There was a full setup of plates, utensils, pans, microwave, coffee station, and a DISHWASHER!! haha, it's the little things that go a long way. The bathroom was beautifully well lit, and had a huge shower with great temperature and water pressure, and had two entrances, one from the hall and one from the bedroom. As you made your way to the bedroom, you're met with a beautiful glass sliding door that leads you out onto your own private terrace overlooking the beautiful ocean! I loved that there was nothing blocking the view, and that you could see the sunrise every morning! The beds were super comfy, my son loved the robes and slippers that came in the room, so we'd cozy up every night and watch tv! We met some great vacationers in the building as well. There is a small shop in the main lobby where you can buy drinks, snacks, and microwaveable dinners. This is also close to a lot of the stores and restaurants that you could easily walk or bike to as well. Great place to stay and would certainly stay here again on my next trip back.

Myself, my fiance and my 12 year old son and 6 year old daughter checked in on July 9, 2026. We were room #416. We walked in and the smell of mildew and mold was unmistakable. My six year old daughter immediately started coughing. In normal circumstances mold takes longer to show and the smell would not be that prominent if it was a small amount of mold or mildew. We attempted to air out the room for a few hours while driving our golf cart around town. When we got back the smell was just as bad so I went down to the front desk. The lady was very nice, which is the only decent thing I can say about this property and the employees... But I will get there to the rest and you will understand why. The front desk told me she will have the manager call me in the morning, once 11am came and I did not hear anything I called and was immediately sent to the managers voicemail which was a male. Come 1:30pm I call back for a follow up and I get transferred to the guest service relations manager where I am told no refund or partial refund can be provided since they were not able to rent the suite. Which is astounding to me they would even attempt to re-book that suite after the information I provided. The Guest Relations manager did not seem to like what I said, keep in mind the discussion was very calm and I stated I understand but this is unacceptable that we were even rented that suite to begin with. She then without telling me, transfered me to another managers voicemail where once again I requested a call back to speak with someone. On a better note, we ended up having to book another hotel the night of July 9, 2026 due to the uninhabitable conditions of this location and they were overly accommodating. We highly recommend The Galleon. They couldn't believe either they would rent us a suite like this. I guess you get what you get from being 18 hours away at booking time two months ago, but the way you treat tourists says alot about the company and employees especially when it is almost $500.00 to stay at the Laureate and come out smelling like mold. I hope this review helps other tourists make the right decision and do not waste their money.

On top of that the room is almost closet sized with an exposed shower and sink which makes it feel very humid in the room. Theres barely enough space between the bed and wall to walking into the room. The shower also hadn't been cleaned with a piece of old soap stuck to the floor and bug crawling under the pillow when i moved it.. I brought it to the attention of the man working the front desk who first told me it was a queen. The GM came on later that evening and admitted that it wasn't a queen and offered us a slightly larger rom but same size bed. Again the sink was in the room and it was stuffy and humid which made it hard to sleep more than four hours. I canceled the room after one night and tried to get my money back, but they've refused. Do not stay at this hotel. The "queen room" is basically just a hostel at hotel prices. $260 a night in my case.

On the first afternoon after lunch, while we rested in our room, there was a ruckus of children running down the hall outside our door, laughing and shouting, then running up the steps to the second floor. In the room above us, we heard the scuffling of furniture across the floor. We had no idea about the house's history until the next morning, when I spoke with the hostess about the ruckus the afternoon we arrived. She turned a little pale, "You heard Robert, Robert the Doll." Robert was a doll that belonged to Robert Eugene Otto, whose family's home this had been. The doll Robert is now a famous spirit, residing in a glass case at the local museum. I believe this house is haunted. As I left the house, the Uber was waiting for us at the curb. The heavy wooden door slammed me in the butt and almost knocked me down the concrete steps. It was Robert's way of saying goodbye!

First, a huge shoutout to Matilda--she is hands down one of the kindest, most welcoming hotel staff members we've ever encountered. They are beautiful, incredibly spacious, and were absolutely perfect for our family of five. Having a full kitchen and an in-suite washer and dryer made traveling with kids so much easier. More of a condo than a suite. I highly recommend the single floor suites. Our garden suite was still close to the pool but very private. The pool area is peaceful and perfect for relaxing. We especially loved the daily happy hour, complimentary slushies throughout the day, and all the thoughtful little touches like homemade muffins each morning, chocolate ice cream, and chocolates delivered to the room daily. The location couldn't be better. It's right next to the Southernmost Point in a quieter part of Key West, yet just steps from Duval Street. We also loved having the Tipsy Rooster right across the street with live music every day. The shuttle was very comfortable, always on time and the captains were professional. As long as you plan for it, it was never an issue. The property is beautiful, lush and beautifully decorated, with orchids and flowers. We had a 2 bedroom/3 bathroom cottage, it was huge and very comfortable. We also loved Latitudes restaurant, we enjoyed a few breakfasts and dinners there, fantastic food and service. We can't wait to go back!

We were beyond excited to see the beautiful and elegant historic mansion that had been converted into a Bed and Breakfast that was built in 1890-91 by Frederico Marrero, a cigar maker in Key West. They have a heated pool that is open 24/7 for their guests and are just a half block from the popular Duval Street. They offer a sumptious breakfast from 8:30-10:00am and a Happy Hour from 3:30-4:30 pm. The bedrooms are so clean and exquisitely decorated with furniture to match the late 1800s. I fell in love with it and want to stay here on our next trip to Key West! It's fantastic!
