We visited in July 2025 and were very pleased with our stay. The location is on the quieter side of Duval so having to walk to Mallory or some of the other more popular locations could be a concern if that is what you are interested in. We rented bikes and didn't mind the extra travel. The hotel is several historical KW homes together and an annex across the street. You can get hotel like rooms, larger condo or apartment like accommodations. We stayed in the Christmas Palm with a queen bed and additional loft with another queen bed. It had a HUGE personal balcony overlooking the garden area. It was perfect for my husband and I and we were in love with the balcony. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice. He showed us around the property up to our room. After he left we immediately locked ourselves out of the room and had to go to the office for another key. He was so sweet and just laughed at us. They also allowed us to keep our luggage in the office after check out since we had a later flight. This place is for an older crowd. It's very quiet and peaceful. There was only one night I heard anyone being loud and it was not that bad. Also depending upon the room you select, those with mobility issues may have trouble getting around. Our room required walking up a skinny staircase so speak to office before reserving to make sure you have a room on the ground floor. The garden area in the back also has different elevation walk ways that could also be a problem for some. There is a small pool on site. Depth only went to 4 feet but it is nice to cool off in. It was never crowded when I was there only a couple of people most times. I would highly recommend Douglas House to any one wanting a quiet, peaceful stay. You feel like you are actually staying in an old historical house with all the Key West charm without actually paying to rent an actual house. I can't wait to go back!!

Quiet, quaint and cozy. Probably best for a mature crowd. The check-in process was super easy. We booked beforehand at a travel website thinking we got a good deal, but turns out, we could've saved 50 cents booking directly with them (haha!). Our room was clean; there was a high table with 2 bar stools in the room, a folder with wine selections that could be ordered to the room, a dresser, TV, Refrigerator, coffee maker. In addition, there is fresh coffee brewed by the pool every morning and also a variety of tea selections available. We also had 2 chairs available on the front porch to enjoy coffee in the morning. The pool area is small, there are about 6 lounge chairs around it. There is also a small pond with 2 chairs nearby, and a table/chair setup behind the pool area. Location was great with easy access to the southernmost point (for cool touristy pics), Duval street, beaches, and about a 20 minute walk to Mallory square/sunset pier. Parking- Free. There is street parking in front of the main office/rooms, but also a dedicated parking lot for Douglas House Visitors about a block away. You receive a parking decal at check-in. COVID precautions- plastic shields in check-in area providing a barrier between staff and guests; staff is wearing a masks, hand sanitizer available. Room was clean, TV remote wrapped in plastic. All guests required to wear mask around pool area (not while inside), and while walking around premises.

It's been a while since I reviewed a hotel and Douglas House is definitely one to keep in mind when you visit Key West. It's a hidden little gem on Amelia St and literally a few steps from the Duval strip. The front main office looks small but once you enter the courtyard with a pool, you are surrounded by multilevel historic style buildings. Each building has about 2 - 4 rooms or suites and some even have 2 levels. I've tried booking a 2 queen loft suite but they tend to get sold out often but I'm happy with the one we stayed at. Our double queen room was very clean and super spacious with nice amenities. It featured 2 comfy beds, separate sitting area, fridge, microwave, TV, cold A/C with wireless remote, and a cool modern bathroom (no tub) complete with toiletries and blow dryer. The best part of this ground floor room was the private front porch. We loved just sitting there while chatting and having cocktails. It was relaxing. We came here around October after the hurricane so the rate we got was a bargain for this type of accommodation. We paid $130 per night but their normal rate starts around $200 and up for a double. They also have free parking for guests which is about a block away so it's pretty convenient rather than paying street parking. I highly recommend this quaint hotel and will definitely stay here again if I find good rates.

Went a few month's ago (September 2020) to stay with my husband we stayed in a beautiful room. Has a huge balcony with an extra room which we didn't use unfortunately, but highly recommended:) Great service we planned another trip to stay out their again. The pool is small but it was a perfect size for the complex. If you come out to Key West take a look at The Douglas House.

Called to see if we could check in early, checkin is 4:00. We got there at noon and placed our luggage in the office with several others that were waiting for their rooms as well. We came back at 4 to see that everyone else had been able to checkin. We finally were able to get to our room, it was very very hot outside and the room was not very cool. We turned the air to make it cooler but it was not cooling off. We went to the office to see what was going on with the air and he came up and changed the filters. Still no cool air, at this point all the day staff had gone home. We saw earlier in the day around 1, the manager of the office and the GM of the facility discussing our room, this is when they knew the air wasn't working and decided not to let us know. Instead they checked us in to an upstairs room with no air conditioning in 100 degree weather. They offered to bring us fans. The front desk guy said he would call the repairman, we went to dinner and came back with fans in the room just circulating the hot air. We could not sleep in that heat and had to move hotels at 9 pm. They knew there was an issue at noon and chose not to let us know. Trying to get help from someone that could actually do something was impossible. This place has the rudest GM and I would recommend finding a better place to stay! By the way the air in the office was working perfectly and our room was right above the office.

My coffee spot next to the pool every morning!

This place is great. So close to everything yet quiet. Carlos and Kim in the office were great. I would definitely stay there again.

So charming, quaint! Stayed in #4 suite/cabin. Faces the street, no traffic noise, cute private porch all your own. Warmed salt pool, soothing music, tea or coffee available for you. They don't allow kids, or loud music nor party people. Yay, its relaxing, quiet, and good for your soul.

Some rental houses have the bare minimum when it comes to pots, pans and cooking utensils. Not this house! We had everything we needed to make excellent meals. And, of course, the pool was a wonderful extra...even though the beach is only a block away, we enjoyed the pool every day! Oh, and one more thing...the outdoor shower! That's the only place we showered for our entire stay. So fun! When we come back to Key West, we will rent again from Vacation Homes of Key West. In fact, we wouldn't want to go anywhere else! The floors were filthy, after just a few minutes of walking around the bottoms of our feet were black. The carpets in the upstairs area were full of stains. Surfaces had a layer of dust. There was mold around the edge of one of the bathroom sinks, that was so thick it was just waiting to be scraped away. The one bathroom had globs of black dog hair on the floor. The wrap around porch balcony had piles of dog poop. Ceiling fan in one of the rooms the light didn't work, the chain on the light was stuck and couldn't even be pulled. The bathroom that had double sinks, the sink was leaking. I was bitten repeatedly by fleas the entire stay. I had bites all over my feet, legs, arms, by the time we left even on my face and the back of my head. I emailed guest relations 2 times and my email was returned to me as non-deliverable. Finally, I emailed Reservations, and they forwarded by email to the Property Manager, who contacted me and stated he couldn't look in the home yet, there were currently other guest staying. I was told by property management when I called that they were probably bites from No See Ums. Well, we have No See Ums in Michigan, and I must stay I've never experienced bites like this before. Also, the bites only occurred while I was in the house. Property Management stated they wished I would have contacted them with the issues while we were there on vacation so they could have fixed the issues. There are only 2 things they could have done to fix the issues. 1. Asked us to leave so they could clean the house. OR 2. Switch us to a different house. Both options I find unacceptable, they both would have inconvenienced us. Regardless of the options we paid over $1000 a night, we never should have walked into a filthy home. When you rent a hotel room you expect to walk into a clean room, the same goes for a house. He said he'd get back to me in a couple of days, well it has been a week, and I still haven't heard anything back. So, I contacted them again and was told they are unable to discuss the issue until I take down my bad Vrbo review. Also, that the exterminator confirmed that they weren't fleas...Interestingly enough you're telling me they confirmed that while you had another guest in the house. The property Manager Javier Garrido, continued to lie to me after trying to blackmail me into taking down my HONEST review. Then after asking me what kind of a refund, I thought was appropriate, told me to contact my credit card company. Whoever owns these vacation properties needs to get a better property manager. I should have known when the reservation was made. After the reservation was made in Jan 2021 the first thing was an email with a detail I found shocking- BTW there is a "This property may use NoiseAware technology to ensure the comfort and security of the guest. Tampering with the device is strictly prohibited and will result in a $200 fine." So let me just say..... how the heck do you know what is too loud first off and when has sound become a security issue? People are going crazy!!! Anyway it's an item and choice I feel should be mentioned and I should have the opportunity to make a decision on PRIOR to my booking. So list it in your booking details. Now for the bigger most annoying, trip ruining part of not worth a single dime. This is the real purpose of why I'm telling you to not book anything on KEY COVE DR. Listen to the videos I have attached. One from front of house and one with the lovely beep beep beep which is constant all day long from the back of the house. Now not only do they have the audacity to have a sound concern but starting at 3:30am Semi Trucks start pulling in to the back of the HomeDepot which happens to be your front door neighbor separated by a few skinny trees as you will see in the videos and less than 40 yards from the front door of the house. These semis are loading and unloading with engines running the entire day. Despite downloading sound apps to try to drown out that annoyance we are two very sleep deprived irritated couples now. Now let's step up the game. Yesterday at 1:30pm when some of the noise seemed to let up we decided ok let's try to get a nap. Well that was ruined when the front door opened and a man walked in the house!!! Not even a knock on the door!!! Before getting to deep into this story, I already thought the house was haunted as I kept hearing doors slamming. So I screamed at the man he panicked and said "I thought the house was vacant". So I run down and out the door and he was vanished. Then I of course we walk the property very uneasy. From one second to another walking from the front of the house to the back and then back to the front within just a few minutes now there is a comforter and a set of sheets on the banister. We are freaking out now thinking someone is sleeping on the property somewhere. See the pics. Now a girl shows up on a moped with a mop. Stops at our property and goes under our house. So of course we go downstairs to discover we are clean central. There was a door not closed all the way so I opened it to discover cleaning and restocking for all the houses and condos near by. So ghost theory was cleared. My friend whose name the house was rented under calls management who say they will use a different house for their supplies and garbage. Equally, they knew we were in the house!!!!!! The rental agreement duh . I think they thought we were gone into town. And the cameras at the front door!!!! So how do you trust a company who has employees who are sneaking in and out of your property without your permission and fails to tell you the house your renting is the the central cleaning supply room. The manager claimed it was him who came into the property well that is even worse. As a manager, this person's responsibility is to definitely know the house is rented and knock !!! A manager who puts the care of their guest first does not just walk in a home terrifying guest! So stay tuned. Best lobster The Conch Republic!!! Spectacular. Love key west, if we could only get some sleep. If only the sleep ordinance wasn't the biggest joke in the world. The golf cart rental best investment too!!!! But still just stay somewhere else,,,,anywhere but here - yelp not letting me post video so I'm posting pictures here showing the street and map. I will never use this company since it has shown it's core value is based on subtle deception sweeping problems under the carpet verses addressing them properly. I'll keep you posted. Thus, far I feel no concern from this company as to their violations of our privacy and the terror they caused us yesterday. Key West else where so far has been great. But I do already look forward to being home where I can feel safe again instead of scared constantly feeling I must listen for the door and take my person property with me no knowing if someone is in the house going through our things. So stressful. Stress is Not what I came to Key West for!!!

You can't beat the location and charm. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa for a girls weekend with…read morelifelong friends. The pool was typically empty which we enjoyed. It was walkable to many places we wanted to visit. The air conditioning worked great, it was cute, clean and comfortable. There were a few issues though: We flew into Fort Lauderdale and arranged for a late check in. They were supposed to leave a key with our room info on it, so you can imagine our surprise after a 3 hour drive (a 3 hour flight before that) when we arrived in the pouring rain, exhausted from traveling all day to find that nothing was left for us. We had to call at almost 3am to get what we needed to get into our room. We had to ask for towels several times before we received them. There were 4 of us women staying in the rooms and to our complete dismay we discovered that the hot water only lasts through 1.5 showers before the water is so frigid it literally stings your skin. It was so bad we thought maybe the pilot light went out and had maintenance come. Nope. Nothing could be done to fix the problem. For what we paid ($$$$) we shouldn't have had the mishap during check in or have to fight over hot water.
