Under Pat's guidance, both crews on Sunday and Monday respected our requirements for shoe coverings and masks. On the day of heavy furniture lifting and transport, shoe covers were not used for safety reasons, which we fully understood and respected. Pat also kept us informed of each day's arrival time, and the crew showed up right on the minute. In 40 years of military service and countless moves overseas and stateside, this has been the best moving experience I have had. Pat even made sure we knew which of Fort Meade's many entry gates to use, including the "jackpot gate" he's happy to tell you about. They snapped a piano leg on the first move and ruined a 2nd on the subsequent move. The piano's finish is also ruined in five or six additional places, requiring a total refinishing. They also broke a mirror and one of two adjustable dumbbells. If you hire them, get the full-on insurance for total replacement value. You are going to need it.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. This was the most communicative moving service I've had-Dani and I discussed in depth the amount of belongings that needed to be moved and what factors would bump up the price. We discussed my budget and he adjusted the move's focus so that the final bill was right where I needed it to be. I have never had another mover be so flexible and conscientious about cost. They even went above and beyond in disposing of an old piece of furniture that we ran out of room to store. I have also had past moves with them that were very short notice and small. The only issue was that they left several long, noticeable scuff marks on the wall in my narrow hallway. That was unfortunate, but it felt fairly minor in the grand scheme of the move. Overall, the movers were professional, efficient, and easy to communicate with. I would still recommend them, but I would suggest keeping an eye on the walls in tighter spaces.

I discovered a hand craved trunk, one of a set of three, was missing from the delivery. I notified the company. They offered me $150.00 for the missing item. The trunk cannot be replaced. I bought the set in Japan in the mid-eighties. My only option is to file a claim in small claims court. I was told that once the truck was loaded up. It would not be opened until it arrived in SC. We'll that could not be true unless the item was never loaded onto the truck. They picked up on Thursday and delivered on Monday.
