Being our first boat purchase, we weren't really sure to begin, so we did quite a bit of research on the Internet and decided that Monterey might be a good choice due to the high-quality craftsmanship and good reviews. We selected the M4 based on where we wanted to drive the boat and the type of water activities we are interested in. Bassett Yacht and Sales Boats is a Monterey dealer that is close to us which is how we met Dianne Bassett, owner of Bassett Yacht and Boat Sales. From the very first time I spoke with Dianne she was personable, knowledgeable, and very patient, despite our obvious lack of boating experience. Dianne took the time to ask appropriate questions such as: where we planned on doing most of our boating, how many people would be on the boat, and the types of activities we wanted to do with the boat--really getting to know my wife and I and ensuring we made the proper boat selection and didn't pay form something we did not want or did not need. Dianne also kept our budget in mind when making her recommendation. All the while Dianne was not guaranteed a sale from us but she treated us like long-time customers: always answering questions and making sure that we understood the specifications of our order before placing our order with Monterey. We are very thankful as well that Dianne suggested we place our order early to ensure we would have the boat in time for the next boating season. Dianne and her staff were very flexible. We were able to look at an M4, she had in her showroom, a few times before making a final decision. This is where we met Mike the shop manager. Mike was very personable, professional and just as patient with our first-time boating questions: from everything about the M4 to what we might expect during the Connecticut Boater's Safety Course. Dianne and staff provided an exceptional buying experience. She even helped us through the process of financing and insuring the boat to provide a real "turn-key" product. We have a little over a month or so to go, but we cannot wait to get on the water with our new home away from home and cannot express enough thanks to Dianne for making this happen and making the process very easy and relatively painless. My family has been members here for years and years…read more This marina is rather large being that is accommodates power boats and sail boats, all ranging in sizes. wandering around the docks you will see jet skis and massive yachts. There is an outdoor pool, pavilion, and large jungle gym for kids. The pavilion can be reserved for parties and social events. The facilities are clean as well. The restrooms/showers are accessed by codes, keeping them restricted to club members, as well as clean. There also is a restaurant in the marina. We have not been there as there are several amazing restaurants or the area, or we just use the grills. This is a good marina for families as it is clean, well maintained, has activities to participate in, and amenities for everyone.

MarineMax Westbrook was a fine place to store our Boston Whaler for a couple of seasons, but we had…read morean awful experience with their service. To summarize a long story, we had a chronic overheating issue with our Mercury Engine over the course of 3 full boating seasons that MarineMax was unable to fix. They consistently claimed it was the water pump and replaced it twice but never confirmed resolution of the issue (it wasn't). After lots of back and forth, and trying to manage it ourselves on the water, we were forced to have them pull the boat mid-season and they finally did a thorough check. They determined that their technician made an assembly error two years prior while fixing a warranty painting peeling issue that caused a misalignment in a critical water cooling manifold. In addition to all the time and money we originally paid for parts and labor trying to resolve the issue that they created, they refused to refund us the $2000 for pulling the boat mid-season and fixing the mistake they made. We were shocked not only by their poor workmanship, but also poor judgment and leadership. This was the worst bad faith business practice we have ever encountered.

We purchased a new Jeanneau 7.5 walk around in 2021 and our experience has been extraordinary. Mike and Penny have been exemplary in their support and communications to us as was needed. The salesperson I had originally worked with left before the boat was delivered, Mike took over. The boat hull was white, we had ordered the blue hull and without hesitation, Mike offered us the chance to vinyl wrap the boat at no cost to us, since we had desired a colored hull. In addition, a few of the inevitable minor problems have been quickly and fairly corrected by the people at Louis Marine. We feel that we have been taken care of quite well and would recommend a Jeaneau powerboat to anyone looking and would definitely recommend Louis Marine as the place to purchase your next boat!

For one,…read morethe wait was painful -- no updates, no communication whatsoever, and when the boat finally came in months later, it had the wrong interior color and multiple other issues. Once we launched the boat, we became parasites to the dealer. Minor warranty repairs became 6+ month affairs, getting a returned call was like demanding someone's first born child, and the list goes on. Our experience with Louis Marine couldn't have been more opposite. We ordered a new boat from them last year and took delivery this summer. Throughout the wait for our new beauty to come in, Mike kept us informed and passed along updates from the factory, and he was super responsive even when I was sure I was becoming super annoying with question after question. We took delivery 3 months ago and they've been awesome still. We've had a couple of minor factory-driven issues that Mike and his team were ALL OVER. Not only have they made special trips up to where we're keeping our boat in RI to address the issues, but Matt on their team has proactively checked in with us a couple of times to make sure that everything is going good. And whenever we have questions, Matt is all over them like white on rice within a day or two, at most. I share these two polar opposite boat buying experiences because buying a new (or used) boat is a huge financial and time commitment, and I know now that a good dealer makes all the difference. I can honestly say with experience that the team at Louis Marine are the real deal. We're glad to be customers of theirs and hope to be for many years to come!
