Eileen answered all my questions over the phone. She was at the boat lunch waiting for us when we got there. Gave us a map with the routes, landmarks, and channel (to stay out of). Even brought a waterproof bag which one of us ended up needing. We had a great time and did not have any trouble navigating around. Will try to do this again before summer is over. Not really related but we started at 9:30 Sunday morning and were glad we didn't pick a later time. The water seemed to get quite crowded with boats, at least closer the the shore toward early afternoon. Bonus: the volunteers on Outer island were very nice, too.

It was easy to reserve, and she gave good instructions for GPS directions and where to park. Eileen was the master tour guide. She was helpful, fun and informative. She went at a relaxed pace so we can take in the sites and of course take photos. We listed to her stories and learned so much about the Thimble Islands. This area is so beautiful. We were told to try to be there at least 20 minutes early and we were! About 10 people in front of us. I do have motion sickness but I also had some special patches and we were able to get some seats on the top deck. Captain was nice, narration tour proved to be interesting and informative. Not so nice were the people that arrived late and suggested for me to move so " the husband " can seat in the front. Not comfortable and not okay so I denied. It was very annoying to have other people that also arrived late and proceeded to squeeze me and my daughter out of our seats because they really wanted I guess to stay with their friends. More of a party boat than a relaxing atmosphere. Not my cup of tea for that day.

I did, but I should not have. boat motor they sold us was inoperable weeks after the purchase. Spent time in the shop summer '24, all spring of '25. they insisted they were doing us a favor and put a 14 year old motor on our boat for another $2500. That motor worked temporarily but now that i brought it to a real mechanic after issues, he informed me the computer in the motor is shot and thats why the issues exist. So they sold me a second garbage motor and told us they were doing us a favor. Over 2 grand in repairs a year after they did the work.

Joe provides a judgement free zone, he's extremely patient, kind, and his directions don't carry any underlying tone that may discourage a beginner or frustrate an experienced paddler. We went through Cold Spring Harbor and Joe knew all the geography and history of the area. A highlight of the trip was getting to see a bald eagle which I know is a rare sight. I highly recommend JK Kayak & SUP, as I will definitely be going again!
