This is the worst mall. Poorly designed and it is like a maze. The elevator was shaking violently when it got to my floor. Parking is horrendous. Took me more than an hour to leave the garage, after paying whopping 45 bucks. It is more expensive than Manhattan and at least if I park in Manhattan even in a super packed valet lot, it would not take more than 15 minutes to retrieve my car. Ladies, if you're ever feeling bummed and unattractive...just walk outside the atlanic terminal. I got hollered at by 3 different dudes b/c I was wearing yoga pants and a tank top. The 20 year old freshly feminist me would have been pissed. But current me finds it entertaining. There is a lot going on in this place: shopping, food, subways, and suburban commuter rails. While it can get a little dirty and congested, the terminal serves me well. It just takes forever to get into the subway section from Atlantic. read more

All I have to say is that 99% of the reason I enjoy going to the Atlantic Center is being able to say "I am going to the mall!". What New Yorker says I am going to the mall on a Friday night? After going to the largest mall in America for four years (Mall of America in Minnesota), anything less just seems like a poor excuse for a mall. However, before I left for college in Minnesota, Atlantic Center wasn't that bad. I was able to always find something I liked and could afford at my favorites stores: Marshalls, Old Navy, Daffy's, and DSW. But 5 years later, it's like everything has just gone terribly awry. What happened to you Atlantic Center? Why do you mistreat me so? I used to have such a great experience each time I visited you. But now, I am confronted with the after-school crowd, understocked isles, long lines, and shi*ty service. I miss how it used to be, and it pains me to know it will never be the same again. I go here for the same reason everyone else does: it's the only game in town. Like it or not, Target has the cheap stuff we all want and need. Of course it's housed in The Atlantic Center, a miserable, entirely wretched excuse for a mall that takes about as long to get into as it does to walk to, and just might be the least pleasant place in all of Brooklyn. A trip there requires steeling oneself against any number of possible frustrations, including the whipping winds and terrifying, lawless traffic pattern that swirl around the entrances, the big crowds/long lines, the hordes of bored teenagers...you get the idea. But the one that consistently annoys me (and I find never occurs at any other Target) is the fact that virtually every time I set foot in the store, at least one, perhaps two products I'm looking for are ENTIRELY SOLD OUT. Pantene Shampoo? All gone--all of it. Space heaters? Three giant shelves worth, all gone. At this point I'm completely convinced that this particular Target's "marketing strategists" believe that a great deal of their sales are impulse buys--as their stores ARE stocked with many such strategic selling points--and as such, their main objective is to get you to return as often as possible. That said, it's like buying snacks at the movie theater, or food at the airport before a flight--what other options do you have? There are no other discount retailers in the area, and as a result Target will continue to get my hard-earned money. Long live the monopoly. read more

I came to this place looking for a quick bite to eat before I went to watch a game at the Barclays Center. What I expected, from seeing the name, was that it would be a mall with a food court. Okay, if there wasn't an actual food court, there would be some shops that serve food, whether or not it'd be fast food or mall food restaurants like Applebee's or a TGIF. HOWEVER. When I went in, I was extremely disappointed. So disappointed that I became angry, even. This isn't a mall. It's just a bunch of random shops placed randomly with no consideration to what their relation is with each other. Also, their "mall map" is a piece of shit. It doesn't show where anything is, it just has a few names of the stores that are there. What the map also doesn't tell you, besides everything, is the fact that the "mall" and the "terminal" are connected by a walking bridge. Maybe I would have known that if i frequented this place more often, but I think that it would have been helpful if it was shown on the map. I had to walk outside, cross the street, and go into the other building to find the stores that were supposed to be in the mall. This place is a mess. I will never go back here unless I have to. And goddamn, I hope that I don't have to. read more

This place is not super fancy but it is great to have for a quick mall trip. I go here to visit Marshall's, Burlington Coat factory, Target ( although the new one at Flatbush Junction is my Fav), and I cannot forget Mandee's! Hubby and the kid LOVES the game Stop there and with the new Best Buy moving in , well they both will be very happy. So it's a win win situation for me. For people who don't know, and are staying in NYC and think this can't be that far from NYC cause its in New York, think again. Maybe its only a southern California thing...haha! Going to Philadelphia is almost the same distance. I had to take the Long Island Railroad from Atlantic terminal (about $12) to get to the last stop which I could never pronounce (Ronkonkoma) and had to transfer in Jamaica. This trip took about 1 1/2 hours. Once you get Ronkonkoma, there is a $5 shuttle to take you to the airport. It was a 10 minute ride from there. Its a tiny airport, but they have a Starbucks and a few places for shopping and such. read more

This "mall" is more or less just a pass-through to get to other places. There is not a lot of coherence or interrelation between the stores. There is no real food court, variety of kiosks, periodic entertainment, or other such items that you'd generally expect to find in a shopping mall experience. There aren't many public bathrooms or ATM's to be found there either. The only restaurants offered are a McDonalds, Buffalo Bill Wild Wings, and an Applebees, and the latter two are on the third floor, far from street level. The mall is comprised of two main buildings, located across a narrow driveway from each other, connected by a catwalk. One building is at the corner of Flatbush and Hanscome, features a fairly no-frills transit hub in the basement ("frills" as measured against the immediate shopping and dining experiences offered at Penn Station or the Port Authority). This building had the bulk of the stores in the mall, and includes Target, Guitar Center, DSW, Chuck E-Cheese and some other smaller stores. The other building, across a service road, has mostly big-box stores; Pathmark, Best Buy, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, Office Max, Old Navy, Party City, etc. Both sides, for some strange reason, have Sleepys mattress stores. Where I grew up (outside of NYC) the mall was an experience where you could go out and spend a day, shop, have some food, and just hang out. This is really not the experience at the Atlantic Center mall. read more

Really crowded, really picked over, really unpleasant overall. That's what happens when a bunch of low-budget places are collected in one place, over a major transportation hub. All the stores here have counterparts around the five boroughs, but this is the only one that is really easy to get to on a huge variety of buses and trains. The result is predicably very high traffic and so all the problems I already mentioned. Add to it the fact that it's located on an oddly shaped plot of land that has a number of major avenues running adjacent to them, and what you get is a compete mess of a mall where you take your life in your hands every time you cross the street to get to it. Most people have it right -- you can expect them not to have the best sale items in stock, and what they have will be picked over. But here's a tip: go at a weird time. Like 11 AM on a weekday. Then the crowds are not so bad. Look at the stores' circulars online to go at the beginning of the weekly sale cycle for the store you want (admittedly doesn't work for Marshalls and DSW because those two buy closeout stock and so get stuff in on unpredictable days) and you should be able to snag the right item for a good price. You should still prepare for a long wait though -- every single one of these stores that I've been inside of have obscenely long lines even at weird hours, including Office Max. It's like they deliberately create long lines or something. It's the only way to get anything other than a one star experience out of this place. If you come here on a weekend day, God help you. read more

I go here for the sheer reason I'm sure others do: easy subway access and Target. I'd go to this Target over the one near Marble Hill in the Bronx. (I almost lost my temper that that particular one...alas, that's a story for another time, children...) The Target in this mall has the stuff I need, but it's not a Target I prefer to go to at all. The clothing selection for women IS pretty decent, I'll give it that much. The Old Navy here disappoints tremendously. It makes me long for the one near my old apartment in Yonkers at the Cross County Mall. As some others have mentioned, the Daffy's IS rather daffy. (Hardy har har har...) While I'm pleased with the Bath & Body Works and the Victoria's Secret, I wouldn't go out of my way to travel here JUST to go to those two stores when I can go to plenty in Manhattan. For such a big space, this mall feels so...I don't know...isolated. Everything is it's own separate entity. Not that malls usually scream out "I'm warm, fuzzy, here I want to give you a big hug!", but there is just something about this particular mall... *myeh* If Target wasn't there, I'd never ever go. read more

I only come in here for: Buffalo Wild Wings: Love it! their boneless wings were good but the size of my scrotum... It is what it is: a nondescript-looking mall, housing a lot of 'meh' stores, kiosks selling knockoff toys, and a Target. An unclean Target, with picked-over aisles and astonishingly long checkout lines. The shopping cart-only escalator, and oversized elevators do help. This gets 3 stars, because Houlihan's restaurant (is it still there?) has the best calamari. That, and Beacons Closet and a well-kept Key Food are (were?) just down the street. read more

I come by here every few weeks. This is a small mall. It's not like other malls like Roosevelt Field or Queens Center Mall where you can hang out and window shop for a few hours. There are so few stores that unless you're looking for a specific item, there's really no reason to come here. There are a few restaurants, so you can get something to eat before you head to Barclays and watch the Nets lose by 30. There's also a Target. If you're a LIRR commuter who wants to make a pit stop on the way home then this mall is convenient. However, this is not the type of mall where you travel halfway across the city to shop at. I attended nearby Brooklyn Tech from 1999-2003 (don't go there). I remember when this area was a decrepit train yard. Now, it's a bustling shopping center. I only wish it was bigger. read more

Atlantic Ave is better than Penn for LIRR transfers from lower Manhattan/Brooklyn... trouble is they cut service more and more lately and this Hub is being less and less accommodating. If I wanna go for a dinner and drinks in Brooklyn then I gotta be back before the clock strikes 12 because the place shuts down with no train service after midnight. Perhaps they have some transfers into Jamaica from there I'm not entirely sure but if you check you train schedules it will show all Atlantic Term trains as ending service at midnight and not resuming until the AM. The terminal looks better with the reconstruction the mall is upstairs but its like another world. If you step outside and walk down Hanson St and take a left at any of the following blocks towards Fulton St you will see a dramatic difference in the type of neighborhood you are really smack in the middle of... Some great restaurants too. When I know I have an 45min - 1hr wait because I JUST missed a train, that's when I call a local restaurant and order so that when I arrive at Atlantic I just gotta walk a couple blocks and pick it up. That's not something I'd say I'd do at Penn Station NO WAY! read more

Atlantic Center is about ten minutes walking distance from my Apartment. I come here for all various reasons. To shop, catch the train underground, hangout with my kids, eat and to get away when everyone is annoying me at my apartment. This mall has been a lifesaver for me on many occasions when I forgot someone's anniversary, birthday baby shower etc. The most stores I visit is Bath and body, Target, children's Place, Marshall's, DSW and Burlington Factory. The mall is all busy with people either travelers, tourist and shoppers so there is never a dull moment.I'm proud to say I from the greatest Brough. read more

I like this mall its good for downtown Brooklyn. It can be a bit crowded and parking inside and around the mall can be difficult. They have a lot of stores and places to get snacks like Aunt Annie's Pretzel and Dunkin Donuts. You can find whatever you need in this mall and the prices are very competitive. read more

It's so absurd to even call this a mall because it's not. Went here couple of times because i had to pick up my online order at Target and the escalators were always broke down. It was depressing even the staffs at Target looked like zombies. I witnessed a fight last July between two women and nobody actually cared to separate them until a lot of people filmed them. Nowadays i only go to StopnShop. The bright side about this place is that it is accessible by LIRR, Subways, and B buses. Now let me warn you, be careful when you walk to the subways or lirr after dark. Weird things do happen down there. read more

Probably one of the most depressing places in the world. At least until Uniqlo opened. If you go after 3pm during the school year, there will be a bunch of rowdy high school and JHS kids hanging out (and increased police presence). The Target here is one of the most depressing places I've ever been to. Long lines, but good for going to the bathroom. Some of the other shops are just as bad. Marshall's and Burlington Coat Factory have some of the longest lines ever (like over 20 minute waits), no matter what time of day. The Best Buy isn't terrible. The Old Navy is alright during off-peak hours. The Guitar Center is fine, but there's no cell phone reception in the basement. The DSW is probably one of the only places worth going to, mostly for the bathroom and clearance rack. There's also a DMV, which I hear isn't terrible but I've luckily never had to go. Only good thing about the mall is that it's convenient. And there's a Chuck E Cheese's. read more

Didn't really have a lot of time to explore the mall, sadly. I got into Burlington Coat Factory though. Made a B-line to the shoe section. It was a disappointment. Here was NO order. There were shoes and clothes all over the floor between the rows. Saw a couple things I liked and they turned out to be in the wrong section. 9s in with the 6s. Sadness. Overall I'll probably go back just because there are so many of my fave discount stores in one place. It has the potential to bring such happiness! read more

This place is a family mall. They don't have many stores. The main stores are target (of course), Victoria's Secret, bath& body works and Uniqlo based off of shopping bags.... So it's pretty boring here. This place does have a McDonald's tho so that's good if you wanna eat something and drink Starbucks, lol. The malls floor is orange brown which makes it depressing to look at. It's convenient for people who take the train here because the train station is underneath. It's a hangout spot for many high schoolers after school but if you're not shopping at those main stores it's probably boring unless you're eating at Buffalo Wild Wings ! read more

You must then walk down a ramp with bags to get to your car because the elevators are turned off. But the store is 24 hours. I'm from Atlanta, and we have MALLS. This place? Eh. I mainly come here for Target. One thing that seems to be a constant here are the broken down escalators. I once saw a heavily obese person having to walk down the escalator with a cane. He made it down without incident but the frequent breakdown of escalators and long lines for the elevators are a bit much. read more

This is about as unpleasant a shopping experience as you can find in North America or Europe.... It's like Stalin meets Miami. Looking for shopping carts along the Gowanus Canal with refuse in them compares favorably. The situation has improved slightly (very slightly) with the completion of the rehab to the LIRR station, but that's about it. The Target, the big magnet store of the whole eyesore, is like a trip to Montgomery Wards circa 1977. There are no dying parakeets or dead fish for sale, but the stocking is pathetic. Stuff is abandoned wherever people see fit. The staff spends more time jawing than working. Things appear one week and never appear again. And the checkout is a nightmare. My guess is Target was pressured into opening in NYC but banned from Manhattan. This place is a serious case in trademark dilution. Daffy's is about as bad. The plus for both is the occasional steal -- something great at a low price. But you have to weather the conditions. The layout of the mall is terrible. Outside, the building is an atrocity -- an eyesore even by Brooklyn standards. Neo-Stalinism at its worst. Of course, there is 'Fulton Mall' not far away -- not a throwback to the worst of 1977, but an actual piece of '77 that never changed. read more
