I lived in this area for a bit about 9 years ago and I remember when they closed this lil Chinese spot in the station to start building this. 9 years later it has finally opened, thats about the speed of the 5 train at rush hour but I must say this is impressive. Honestly it looks more like an airport and not one of the NY airports either,a NICE airport! Beautiful architecture, love the natural light ceiling and the winding staircase around the glass elevators. Video screens going all the time give it a sort of Blade Runner feel. Stores will be opening within the year so I think this will become a shopping and dining destination as well.

This is the Fulton street train station hub .where you can connect to the Oculus Westfield world trade center shopping mall and the Brookfield plaza shopping mall -without going outside there the subway tunnels that connect to these buildings .there a shake shack upstairs and 24/7 hour Dunkin donuts cafe' located downstairs. there the 2,3,4,5,A,C,J,Z- subway Trains that run here . This is located in the Lower Manhattan area ( not far from Brooklyn Bridge -City Hall area ). There the Century 21 department flagship store, Chick-fil-a restaurant , Zara , The GAP stores near the Fulton street entrance area as well

It seemed like an eternity that this major transportation hub was forever in construction from circa 2005 to 2014. The entrance to Fulton Street station was an obstacle from the ongoing construction as many entrance/ exits were closed, which made my commute a glorious mess as I needed the A train. The old ramps that connects the A, C trains to the 4 and 5 trains are now, sadly, gone with twists and turns of stairs and more stairs which makes it difficult for the physically challenged. I remember the original name planned: "Fulton Street Transit Center" but re-branded due to the increase in retail shops to attract traffic and drive sales in hopes as a replacement from the loss of the former World Trade Center. Fast forward to November 2014. A beautiful open public space that unifies eight (8) subway lines with a modern stainless steel appeal. The circular dome open ceiling is a piece of art in itself worthy of a look or a photo opportunity. Yes, this station operates 24/7 @ 365 days with a human being MTA token booth clerk. A green global outside the building signifies a 24/7 @ 365 with a MTA token booth human clerk holding the fort. Yes, a human being sits inside this token booth servicing passengers.

    You are being watched.

This station is fairly nightmarish, but I pass through here several times a week, so I've gotten used to the convoluted transfers. Of course, construction is still going on here, and we're promised a brand-new Fulton Center Transit Hub by the end of the year. I'm not holding my breath waiting for that. They seem to have Wi-Fi in parts of the station, since I've sent SnapChats a few times--but it's not predictable. As they say, "New York is going to be a great city when they finish it!"

There are only three feet across with some stalls while other vendors have a lot of space. The winter hat, cool decor, jewelry are always the top of the shopping list. Check the opening time which is at 11 am on some days and not all stalls are open immediately at 11 am but most of them are. There are always food items too but those areas can get very crowded. I recommend going earlier in December when there is good selection left. The service and welcome of the staff was really good this year. The value and price point is solid with many different type of high and low end items available. Bryant Park may have a little more space for shopping but Union square sometimes has different vendors. The urban spaces organizers do a good job across the space. Enjoy the holiday shopping. One commentary on 2025 visit because we go every year, I saw fewer people in some stalls. I am not sure if there is an economic impact for some people or that there are less international or domestic tourists but there may be some impacts. I remember that it has been more packed in the past since I was there on Black Friday which is normally the peak shopping time.

The Holiday Market here has more booths, a wider variety of small local vendors, and the layout feels more open and spacious not as tight and narrow as Bryant Park. That's not to say Union Square doesn't get crowded (it absolutely does), but the experience still feels more enjoyable and less cramped. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
