    Grilled eggplant
    Rebecca D.

Good food but a little pricey for what you get. Ambiance: very cozy. Lots of wood paneling. Plenty of seating. Very cool glass pane on the floor when you walk in where you can see down to the wine cellar! Service was friendly but quite slow. We arrived at noon and didn't get our food until 1. But after about half an hour they did bring out some tasty fresh pita bread with a red pepper spread. And good things come to those we wait! I ordered the grilled eggplant and it was delicious. The tomato sauce the eggplant was covered in was so flavorful. The lemon potatoes were a little sour for my liking but that was definitely a personal preference thing because everyone I was with loved them. Overall: come if you have time to spare and are willing to spend a bit extra for good food.

We were in town for a day and chanced upon this restaurant as we were in mood for Greek food. This restaurant did not disappoint. The place was quite busy on a Saturday evening. We arrived around 6pm and were promptly seated. Nice ambiance I had the whole grilled Branzino and my husband had the Greek salad with falafel. It was decent. The dessert was a little disappointing. I had the tres leches but i have had better. I love tres leches in general but this one wasn't for me. The cake was too grainy/gritty.... More like corn bread with gritty texture. I should have tried the baklava may br

My family and I came here for Thanksgiving and the place was very popular! I recommend making a reservation because we also waited a while even with one. We really enjoyed our cocktails, I definitely recommend the Athos Bee's Knees and the meal was delicious as well. The chicken was very tender and I loved all the dips that came with the platter. The baklava and rice pudding were also really good so I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Our waiter was also very nice as well.

I still can differentiate between Greek, Turkish, Moroccan or Middle Eastern cuisine. Let's just stick to the Mediterranean for now. Around a week or 2 ago, I was in NYC and tried out a Mediterranean Michelin Guide restaurant. Did I have to travel that far just to go eat.....guess what, absolutely!!! However, we still need to explore our own backyard. You just happen to find a restaurant in Albany, voted one of top 50 Greek restaurants in USA. How did I miss that!! Well, I found it now and experienced some delicious food. We tried a variety of meats.....lamb, seafood, chicken and vegetarian/GF, all of which were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The crowd was diverse. The restaurant has a modern vibe. It also has a wine cellar in the basement and you have a cool glass floor that you can look down on. I would definitely recommend that you visit this restaurant and don't forget the desserts and coffee.

Just coming back from my vacation in Greece and craving Greek food, my husband and I visited Athos. Athos is a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant. We had the mezze platter which had hummus, tzatziki, ezme, babaganoush, and tirokafteri dips. Though the tirokafteri was a little salty, it was very good. I liked the hummus and tzatziki the best. It came with a bowl of pita bread and we ordered an extra plate of pita. We weren't too hungry so we shared an entree. We had the Athos Bronzino Filet and this dish was very filling. It had 2 pan-seared Mediterranean sea bass filets, house salad & mashed potato. This dish was delicious! The Bronzino was very fresh and smooth. The salad and mashed potato were great sides. The menu offers many typical Greek dishes. Service was wonderful and the restaurant is huge. There is a private room upstairs. There are plenty of booths and tables. Plenty of parking spots too.

Disappointing. Inferior ingredients, given the price point. Tiniest portion of fish entree. One beverage and one food item not fresh. Dusty window blinds and flies attacking me and my table. Lemon potatoes that were not as delicious as those in other Greek restaurants. When i ordered WHOLE bronzino, i expected my fish to be cooked WHOLE, then fileted, as in fine Greek restaurants. Decor and service are excellent.

Athos was an amazing spot for valentine's day dinner! They offered a regular menu and a prefixe, but we went for the regular. With your reservation they also gave you a rose. The ambience inside was great, very romantic and felt very elevated. My favorite feature is the window on the floor into the wine cellar. They start you off with (free) pita, which tastes like a warm hug. It is sooooo good. I got the cold appetizer - tirokafteri. It didn't have the kick I was hoping for, but it was still a great addition with the pita. I ordered a blueberry cocktail which came out in a teacup. It tasted great and I felt elegant using their decorative teacup, but I didn't feel the alcohol at all which is unusual for me. Now onto our meal - my partner got the Athos Bronzino Filet. I'm not much of a fish girly, so my impression was that it tastes like chicken cutlets. My partner thought it was really really good fish though, and his only note is that it was ever so slightly too oily. It came with mashed potatoes that were a little dry. I got the Lamb Youvetsi, which was great. I'm not a huge lamb person, so the pieces by the bone were a little too strong in flavor for me. Luckily, I was going to bring it home anyways because I had filled up on pita. The orzo/sauce complimented the lamb well. For dessert, I got the Galaktobouriko. I'm not super familiar with greek food or desserts so this was a toss up, but my god it was delicious. It came out HOT which has its pros and cons. I didn't have it in me to wait till it was a normal temperature to enjoy. food was delicious and the ambiance was great. to start, we had the tirokafteri (which looks like scrambled eggs) with so much gorgeous warm pita. i had the lamb youvetsi which was suuper tender and this random guy had the athos bronzino filet. the filet received rave reviews, but it was only just too oily to be a 10/10. Athos is definitely a place you should keep in mind for a special occasion, or a normal occasion with a special person.

    Lamb souvlaki

Lamb souvlaki was super tender, very juice. Went with the grilled Octopus and Calamari for apps, Octopus was not tough at all, nice char and flavor, Calamari has a different seasoning on it, was very good, different flavors than Italian.

Simply outstanding! Came in to celebrate with the family for the holiday and I have to say this restaurant is what put the cherry on top of our vacation. While being escorted to our table you will walk over a glass wine cellar which look so cool. We were introduced to the owner and the Chef who were just so pleasant and knowledgeable. They catered to all our needs and made our night extra special. The ambience was elegant and spacious. Great for a romantic dinner or a simple get together. Did I mention they have so many GLUTEN FREE options which really made me feel like I could eat anything on the menu! The cocktails were to die for! Our favorite was the Aphrodite and passionfruit. Which you will find in the pictures. This slice of heaven is a must try and see. You wouldn't regret it. I would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you Athos & staff!

Not sure about fish prepared tableside, but with the pandemic I wouldn't be surprised if that option was removed from the menu. I recommend you call to inquire.

Can you order from the dining room menu in the bar area?

I've been there before and the crazy, giant fiberglass crab on display in the entrance is always a hoot. So is the fiberglass shark head on the wall in the dining area. I like a place with a sense of fun and humor. I also like this place for its seafood boils. The good news is that this restaurant--which was very good to begin with-- has gotten even better. Last time I showed up, the server brought the seafood boil still in its boiling bag and cut it open in front of me. It was up to me to reach into the hot bag and pull out its contents. There was steam everywhere. A hot mess, indeed! This time, the kitchen took care of the boiling bag for me. Instead, they beautifully arranged the boiled seafood on a large platter. Wow. It looked amazing and tasted even better! This time, I'd asked for a Number 4 with mix of seasonings, including garlic and butter. There were: one big lobster tail, plenty of shrimp, clams, crawfish, potatoes, corn on the cob, hard boiled eggs and extra veggies. It was described as enough to feed three people. Coincidentally, we were a party of three. We also ordered a Cajun Fried Rice for good measure. We really didn't need it. We were so full. The fruit drinks were great, too. Union Seafood is a franchise with locations in Troy and Schenectady. They're owned by Larry Weng who also opened Ji Bei Chuan Rice Noodles & Ramen on Western Avenue in Guilderland, according to local news reports. In celebration of May being AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Month, it's probably fair to say that Asian-American owned restaurants such as Union Seafood have added much variety to the overall dining experience in Capital Region. There are a few and far between for sure. Today I stopped in to check out their fresh fish as I was in the area. On Tuesdays they do have a new delivery. I reviewed their website before stopping and they listed a couple of fish I wanted. I was interested in Bronzino, but once there saw they only had two whole fish left, and I wasn't sure when I would actually cook it. I decided against buying it today. I did buy a half pound of sockeye salmon and Arctic char. I also picked up a couple of packages of frozen fish, Haddock and some Scottish salmon. The prices were $$; for fresh fish it's a bargain. A gentleman came from the kitchen area shortly after I walked in and started looking at the display. Took my order, and tried to sell me on a previous cut which I declined because it was the tail end. He picked out a full fillet and I assumed that he cut the thick portion, but after arriving home and ready for the pan, found that he gave me a tail end. That's what I get for not being specific. I would like to mention he did not ask me how I wanted it cut. He was friendly enough though. They take contactless payment. They do prefer cash and will give a 3% discount for cash.

When I looked up their address, Apple Maps stated that the restaurant was closed today (Sunday, August 18th, 2024). So, I searched for the next best option, and Yelp suggested a restaurant in Crossgates Mall, Albany. Listed currently as Latino's Cuisine on Yelp is actually Lo Nuestro's 2nd restaurant! Formerly known as Latino's cuisine, the owners of Lo Nuestro has expanded their family owned restaurants and now occupies this restaurant and space in Crossgates Mall as their 2nd restaurant. Crossgates is a huge mall, so I used the directory map to find the exact location of the restaurant. It was the same restaurant my friend recommended! Lo Nuestro's SECOND location is located upstairs in Crossgates Mall, next to Pandora Jewelry and in front of the "Going, Going, Gone" Dick's Sporting Goods clearance store. If you're trying to avoid the mall and a lot of walking, you can park as close as possible to Going, Going, Gone and then go upstairs. Lo Nuestro is on the right-hand side next to it. As soon as I walked in, the food alone made me want to try everything pollo. There was a line of about five other customers ahead of me, Spanish music blasting in the restaurant a few tables and booths for friends and family to dine in. A dessert case with a variety of desserts and all the food you order is behind the counter in steam table pans. I ordered a large stew chicken (which they didn't have much left of), and I see why! (It tastes really good and was exactly what I was looking for). I asked the pleasant and English-speaking young lady (Franchesca) if she could give me small portions of both types of their chicken so I could try a little of both after she apologized for the near empty pan of stew chicken, and she kindly gave me small portions of each in my large order. Both were so good! I also did the same with the tuna pasta salad and the potato salad. While I've had better-tasting potato salad, (needed more seasoning or salt and less mayonnaise) it's still edible and delicious. (At the time of this writing, I hadn't tried the tuna pasta salad yet.) Their passion fruit juice is a little on the too sweet side for me but still great tasting. Nothing a shot of lemon juice wouldn't fix. At my grown age and being Jamaican , I'm just now starting to appreciate why everyone eats and asks for plantains, and the sweet plantains here are actually good. Would I come back like the young lady working the counter encouraged? Absolutely. She mentioned they are going to fix their listing on Apple, Google, and Yelp because they own both restaurants located in Crossgates Mall and on Central Avenue in Albany. This review is for the Crossgates Mall location. I had a pleasant experience, and the food did what it needed to do. I ate both potato salad and the tuna Mac salad after editing and now I am back to give an update, I enjoyed BOTH salads and I wished I had more. I licked the salad container clean. Don't judge me.
