It's very hard for a Bride to let go of her vision and plans on her wedding day. It's so stressful to think things will go wrong, items may not be placed where you want them to, or your bridal party is not there on time or fully dressed. With Sara, I was able to let go and relax! I love her! She went above and beyond at our wedding on May 15, 2015 in LB. Any concerns or issues I had she addressed quickly. I assigned a couple of my friends to assist her as needed and together they made my day go as perfect as it could be. She worked with me ahead of time to make sure she had a timeline set. The DJ took her info and incorporated it into his timeline to make sure we were all in sync. She kept my wedding party together both for the rehearsal and the day of the wedding. She kept them on her toes and at ease. Everybody knew where to go because of her. When my seamstress did not deliver my Jr Bridesmaid's dress on time, she took her without hesitation to buy a new one in our color scheme and was ready to walk down the aisle with us. The short - At Your Door Events and Jenny were amazing, cheap at twice the price and we would highly recommend them. The long - We hired At Your Door Events (with Jenny being our head coordinator) on short notice after we realized our dual Indian and Western ceremony would be too much for us (the bride and groom) or our family to coordinate ourselves. With only two weeks notice we met with Jenny who quickly impressed us with her extremely professional and organized manner. She spent two hours with us going through every detail, making sure she had everything she needed to do a perfect job. Jenny was always available to us, and quick to respond to emails. She even responded to a panicked 2am email within a few minutes when we had a minor problem a couple of days prior to the wedding. On the big day Jenny arrived at our hotel earlier than out contract stated and quickly began working her magic with her two highly professional and well trained assistants. She made sure all our items were taken to the venue, coordinated our hair and makeup people, made sure the Wedding Party, our Videographer and Photographer were in the right place at the right time. Knowing we would forget to order food, she even made sure we had a sandwich platter at the hotel and venue for the Wedding Party. Jenny carefully choreographed both the Indian ceremony and Western ceremony and thanks to her hard work they both turned out perfectly. Jenny, along with her assistants were constantly working behind the scenes to make sure everything went perfectly. There wasn't a moment when I saw her or her assistants doing anything but working. During the change from Indian to Western outfits my father (the father of the bride) realized he had forgotten his suit trousers at home. Panic ensued, but Jenny was the calm in the eye of the storm. With the spare trousers of a significantly larger groomsman, Jenny immediately got to work pinning the trousers and making sure the father of the bride looked perfect walking his beautiful daughter down the aisle. All in all, it's hard to say enough good things about Jenny. She made our big day amazing and made sure everything ran perfectly, we would have been lost without her. She was detail oriented, organized and a consummate professional. We can't recommend her more highly, she will do everything to make your big day run perfectly. We LOVED working with Jenny and I cannot speak more highly about her as my wedding day coordinator! I initially met her through our original venue (which later changed) prior to the pandemic and when our event was pushed out a year, Jenny went above and beyond to contact and negotiate any changes with all my vendors, and kept me calm, encouraged, and in the loop during this heartbreaking time (she has great response time). I was really torn about writing a review for Jenny Goodman or not, but decided to so I can warn others who decide to hire her for their wedding. I wish I read the newer reviews since they describe Jenny Goodman as she is now as her old reviews praised how awesome she was. The hotel recommended her and she does many events at our venue so we were happy to hire her. We met up with her and everything seemed good until emails and our tasting. I thought Jenny was slow at replying at emails ( I took it as me being impatient so didn't think much of it), but she even asked for information that was already given to her in an previous email. Jenny Goodman did not attend our tasting because her daughter got into an car accident that morning. Ok, that is understandable and luckily nothing happened to her. She gave us no update on her when we asked. Fast forward to our rehearsal day and Jenny is late 20-30mins making everyone wait for her. This time her excuse is because she got pulled over by a cop. Shouldn't she be on time or early? During the rehearsal I felt like she rushed the instructions and run thrus since it was a very hot day... On the wedding day we finally realize how disorganized Jenny Goodman is. Here are some complaints She was not very responsive with responding to texts. She did not keep us on track of our timeline as promised She did not help/assist seating arrangements for the ceremony We were suppose to give flowers to our parents during the ceremony, but flowers were not left on the table for us to give them out There were no chairs for us at our sweetheart table after the grand entrance No wedding is going to go exactly as planned or be perfect, but having unnecessary problems like not having the flowers to give out or not having a chair to sit on is something easily avoided if our coordinator was on top of things. I could honestly say "nothing!" If there were any snafus or problems, my husband and I did not hear about them and did not have to worry about fixing them. Jenny coordinated my wedding in January in LA and she was so easy to work with. Leading up to the final few weeks prior to the wedding, Jenny attended our final meeting with our catering manager and even called into our final meeting with our DJ to iron out the timeline. She coordinated all the final details with my vendors. Jenny knew to ask all the right questions that we never would have thought of. The wedding day couldn't have been any smoother. I know much of this was due to Jenny working behind the scenes. She thought of all the little details and handled last minute requests on the day of with ease. One little mishap we had was that the favors were stored in the fridge to be placed on each table setting but when we noticed they weren't there, Jenny quickly came up with a solution and placed them on a table outside the reception room for our guests. We appreciated that she checked in with us to ensure all was moving smoothly that evening. Let me begin by saying how thankful I am for not giving this company one dime of our money. Our hotel package comes with a coordinator for our wedding so we were paired up with Jenny from At Your Door Events. I still remember the day we were told a coordinator would be provided to us- I had asked the hotel contact if I had any problems with the coordinator, could we choose a different one than the one assigned to us... but she had reassured me that no bride had ever had a problem with any of their coordinators. SIDE NOTE- If you are getting married at Hotel Maya in Long Beach and are assigned this company- demand for another coordinator! It wasn't until our group tasting that I had noticed that there were multiple wedding coordinators that were assigned to each couple from different companies. I wish I had followed my instinct and asked for another coordinator but I figured- it's free... how can I complain with free? There were multiple red flags that I had noticed but decided to shrug off... from not responding to emails in a timely manner to promising me a list of vendors via email that was never sent. I get that life happens, but as a professional who does this as their business, I expect professionalism, not excuses. But I'll just jump to what points truly disappointed me. On the day of our wedding, with all the craziness of getting ready and being on time- Jenny did not come to the room to pick up things needed for the venue at the time she placed on her own timeline for the wedding. My maid of honor had to call her to track her down. Already a stressful way to start. My maid of honor brought all the things needed for our candy bar. We just needed Jenny and her team to bring it to the venue and we had someone who would come later to set up the candy bar. En route to the pavilion where the reception was held from the hotel room, I was told later by my maid of honor that Jenny and her team were not careful in handling the glass vases. My maid of honor had warned them to push the luggage cart slowly but sure enough, one of the vases broke and when my maid of honor called it to her attention, her response was "And what do you want me to do about it?" Again, lack of any professionalism or consideration. In her very first meeting, she had reassured us that she would be there to make sure that my husband and I would be catered to during reception. She would make sure we had drinks, she would block people from coming to our sweetheart table for a few minutes so we could eat and she would be attentive, checking on us frequently. She maybe came to us TWICE. And a few times, I had to wave her down myself. She also mentioned taking our money box and gifts to our hotel room towards the middle of the reception with someone I can trust so that no one would have to keep watching it till the end of the reception. But that was never done. Everything stayed until midnight. Thankfully nothing was lost from what I know. The worse had to be cake cutting time. My husband and I were asked to go to the cake table where we found NO cake cutter. We did not provide one and were never told that we had to. The time wasted and uncomfortableness of standing there while Jenny ran to the back to grab one was ridiculous. And what's worse is that she COULDN'T get one, so we had to resort to using a butter knife! I haven't gotten all our pictures yet, but I pray our photographer captures this moment beautifully minus the butter knife. I was later told by my DJ (who was amazing in taking care of us, catering to us and making sure if something was wrong, we didn't know) that she tried to put the blame on him for not following the timeline. First off, he pushed things ahead because he knew we only had the photographer and videographer for half an hour more- so he wanted to make sure they captured everything, like the bouquet and garter toss... and second, you had how many hours to make sure a cake cutter was there. I don't know how putting blame on the DJ made any sense. In this situation, the blame falls on no one but the coordinator for not checking on something as simple as the cake cutter. I am not one to complain, if you ask anyone about my personality, I am quick to shrug things off and not let a situation ruin a whole experience. I knew something was not right when my husband had to calm me down at the end of the night when Jenny and her team said goodbye. I definitely was disappointed in her and had to let her know. I did not envision being upset and disappointed at my own wedding, let alone from a supposed professional vendor but I was warned from family and friends that it would never be perfect. I just wish that I had done my research more and asked for another coordinator. read more

Hiring At Your Door Events was the worst mistake. PLEASE BRIDES: Do yourself a favor, and search for a planner who really cares! Or better yet, plan your wedding yourself. The wedding was in May, so this is an overdue review. But I had to take a breath after all the wedding craziness before talking about it again because it makes me that angry. So I've revisited this draft time and time again in attempts to finish it without getting upset. As maid of honor, I helped my cousin plan her wedding in Cerritos, CA. She was finishing med school on the East coast and didn't have the time for the phone calls, emails, nor the time to fly here to meet with vendors. So I came up with ideas, attended wedding expos, and found the venue and the main vendors for her. Come January, I was overwhelmed with juggling the planning and my work and convinced my cousin to splurge on a planner. I found At Your Door events on Yelp, called and Jenny set up a meeting with me. It should have been a red flag when she was already passive aggressive in our first text convo. I'll post a pic of the screen shot. I didn't see her text confirming our meeting that evening (I was working) and she texted me: "Hello, since I didn't hear from you, I assume were not meeting. No worries. Have a good night!" I was taken back by her response. It just seemed very unprofessional to me. I apologized for not replying to her text (again I was working) and told her I would still meet with her if she was still available. We FaceTimed my cousin and her fiancé in our meeting. And talked about what we needed help with, what vendors we didn't have, etc. We talked about Jenny's prices and although my cousin was on a very tight budget, she agreed. After we hung up the phone, Jenny instantly said "Wow, you guys are really behind". She suggested started right away (January), instead of in February but for an additional charge. I really didn't think we were that behind, since the main vendors were booked already. However, her reaction worried me so the bride and groom booked her starting January.. There's so much to say but I'll try to sum up the main points: 1. She in fact did not start in January. She claimed she would and did but she didn't. By February, I had regret convincing my cousin to hire her because she had nothing done. If we were so behind, then why didn't she get started? All she had me do was email contracts from vendors we already booked. 2. WE COULD NOT GET A HOLD OF HER. I was being nice and thought I'd allow 72 hours for her to respond to the bride or myself. Nothing. No email, phone call, text. Then it turned into weeks of not hearing from her. The first time she said she got into a car accident. The second time, she had no excuse. She only finally contact us after I had to call her boss or "business partner".. who contacted me the same morning ironically. Ha! You guys do know how to respond. Of course Jenny texted me with a passive aggressive text message angry that I contacted Sara. Mind you we were WEEKS OUT FROM THE WEDDING DAY AND JENNY WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND! I even told Sara I don't want to make Jenny angry because I know her attitude and I'm afraid she won't show up on the day off. And she was already paid!! The bride should not have to be tracking down her planner that close to her wedding.. or ever! 3. I kept asking and asking for missing vendors that we were "so behind on".. She didn't even book them until weeks before the wedding!! Not to mention wedding invitations were not even made until March! For a May wedding. But she didn't seem to care. 4. Wedding day- she was unorganized and useless and LATE!! Thankfully the decorator was there early! She saved her ass! I called Jenny and she lied and said she was already there. But I spoke the my decorator and she said her crew arrived an hour early and the venue said that the planner was not there yet!! Also, she told me the day before that she contacted the DJ and they discussed everything he needed for the ceremony and reception. But she forgot to ask the bride WHAT SONG SHE WANTED TO WALK DOWN THE AISLE TO!! I didn't want to stress out the bride so I was scrambling to find ceremony wedding songs. Jenny didn't even have any good suggestions of typical wedding songs and she's supposed to be an experienced planner?! She suggested songs that were not even wedding songs!! Thankfully 2 bridesmaids had suggestions because they recently got married! Also, the servers Jenny hired last were useless! They didn't noticed empty trays at the buffet. I waked by an picked them up and hid them under the table! And had to tell the caterers myself to replace them!! Jenny changed into flats halfway through the night and family and friends joked that changing her shoes was unnecessary because she hadn't worked. A planner is supposed to take the stress away from the planning and your big day. But all Jenny did was add to it. Please just save your money and DIY. read more

I've never hired a party planner before and now I know I will never throw a big party again without one ... hopefully with that one always being the amazing Sara! (Please don't ever retire or change careers, Sara!!) I started planning my backyard luau college graduation party for 130 people on my own and with less than two months to go, I realized I was in over my head. I found At Your Door Events on Yelp and the stellar reviews proved to be accurate. Sara met with me at my first availability and was able to take over all the contracts I had already signed (some not great) and turn my chaos into what my friends have been calling "the party of the century". It was absolutely beautiful, classy but comfortable, fun, and ...AMAZING!!! The only regret I have is not giving Sara full control from the start because I made things so much harder on myself (and most likely on Sara too) and all the things she planned were so much better than the things I tried to do myself. But live and learn...and I know next time (probably one of my kids' weddings) I will just call Sara from the start, sit back, and let her do her thing. Because her thing is AWESOME!! read more

Where to even begin?! We reached out to a few coordinators and services when we first started planning our wedding and as soon as we spoke to Jenny, we knew she was our girl. We described a pretty messy plan in an even messier email - we wanted to do brunch, we wanted people to play games, we wanted people to dance in the daylight, we wanted it to be super casual... but still formal enough that our families would appreciate it. We wanted people to sit on the ground... or not... or stand during the ceremony... or not? And most of all - we had a very tight budget that was not going to budge!! We made a deal with Jenny that she would be our day of coordinator, but also assist heavily in the month before, AND also give advice in the year leading up to the wedding. We would need help with some vendors, but would do some leg work ourselves. For all this, she gave us a rate that seemed almost illegal, and she worked 100x harder than we ever expected. We found our venue, but she walked through with us and asked the questions we didn't know to ask. We knew our menu, and she found a caterer and negotiated the price for us. We would handle the invitations and decorations, but she gave us tips and advice along the way. For a full year, it felt like Jenny was our full time assistant. She recommended DJs, officiants, hair and make up, photo booth and rental vendors and looked over all the contracts we drafted and told us when we were off track. The week before we all but threw our hands up when it came to vendor relations and left all the schedule setting and distribution to Jenny. We stressed over writing our vows, dealing with family in town and ordering flowers.Jenny did everything else. The day of was incredible. We made our own elaborate centerpieces and cut our own table runners. We had about 50 picture frames we wanted displayed around the venue, a chuppah to build, a slew of lawn games to set up and an unconventional ceremony layout. We thought Jenny and team would freak out, so we labeled boxes and bags to the best of our ability, put them in a rental van and crossed our fingers. My husband and I are TV producers and our biggest fear was showing up day of and having to do work or make decisions, the way we do on a TV set. When we arrived at the venue the morning of the wedding, Jenny and her team of magical elves were in full worker bee mode and within 2 hours, everything looked exactly how we had imagined it - if not better. She had surprises for us at every corner - printing our vows and putting them in cute booklets, getting straws that matched my purple wedding dress, bringing her own table cloths and displays for the buffet. It was incredible. At the end of the night we just... walked away. We totally trusted Jenny and her team to clean up and get everything back to us and they totally did. It was like a dream. Sara was absolutely amazing. I hired her for month of wedding coordination but my husband and I both agree if we could do it again, we would hire her to be our full time planner. I seriously cannot imagine my wedding without her because she makes it so stress free and seemingly stream-less. I know there were hiccups but she handled them so well you would never know they happened. I also added on design guidance. When I hired Sara, I felt I had no wedding vision. I had a pinterest board full of contradicting ideas and I truly did not know where to go from there. As soon as she took 1 look at my board she fully understood where my mind was at.
