Courtney was *so* patient and helpful! It was time for an upgrade so I picked out the phone I wanted ahead of time and called to see if it was available in store. They confirmed it was, so today I went in and got it. First star to Courtney: she remembered I had called and was ready to go with the upgrade. How cool is it to be remembered? Second star: she let me know that by changing my payment method I can save $10 a month. Which totally covered the cost of the upgrade. Star 3: After working the transaction she made sure my number had transferred *and* the phone was upgraded to the latest software *and* that moving my data over would work. Star 4, 5, and - if there was the option - 6: I screwed up big time and she fixed it. The phone I had researched so carefully and asked for explicitly was actually the wrong one. I went back in knowing that changing this out would be a bear. She took the challenge and dove into it. It took a few calls to her peers to get it all sorted (I really appreciated hearing, "I just want to make sure this is right.") but in not much time she got it sorted. Wow! read more

We went in on a Monday & were the ONLY customers. One employee seemed inconvenienced and didn't know how to do anything, so her coworker/boss walked her through it. They didn't have the phone color in stock, so he showed her how to order it and include my trade in. It all seemed ok until 20min later. I got the confirmation email and they had ordered the wrong phone! I sat on 611 for over 20min while my wife called the store. The store called back saying they couldn't do anything and we should call 611. I sat on hold with 611 again to no avail. My wife was able to cancel it on her myATT app. So now we are starting all over again online. What a HUGE waste of our time!!! I don't particularly like AT&T as a company, I loathe their web site and the complicated plans and fine print, but after my recent experience in this store I felt compelled to leave a positive review here given all the negative reviews. I recently decided to switch from a single plan to a family plan with my wife and parents, and I spent a lot of time researching and informing myself before heading to the store because I anticipated a bad experience with a salesperson trying to upsell me on all kinds of garbage. The Yelp reviews for this store are bad, but the Google reviews are good so I decided to try my luck. I finally dragged myself to the store on a Saturday and prepared for the worst. I was very pleasantly surprised! The rep I worked with (I wish I could remember his name) was friendly, helpful, and didn't try to upsell me at all. He just explained the different options to me, asked me what I wanted to do, and set up my account. No surprises and no pressure. While I can't comment on the entire staff, the rep I worked with was great. read more

I was in dire need of WiFi after moving to Austin and into a new building with wiring issues and no ETA of a resolution. After days of calling AT&T 10 plus times to try and get my WiFi installed at my place, I finally decided to stop by an AT&T store to purchase a hotspot. Eddie the rep at the store was extremely helpful and provided me with all information to get set up with a hotspot. I was also later greeted by the manager Alyssa who was just as courteous and attentive to my situation. I was very appreciative of their support during a very difficult time trying to work remotely and being new to the city. I would highly recommend this location for any AT&T purchases! read more

No. This is a franchise store. This is not a corporate AT&T store. All they care about is changing your plan to sign you up so they can get residual income. I ordered the new iPhone six requesting to keep my current plan and they changed my entire plan from two gigs to 10 gigs data, they cut off my voicemail and lost a lot of information on my phone. When I went back to request that they corrected the errors, they did not even look up my account they just told me they didn't do it and they weren't responsible. They had no idea what had happened or any of my information they just immediately told me they weren't going to be able to help me. I had the most unprofessional and poor experience at the Burnet Road location in Austin. The Assistant Manager, named Brandon, scammed me into buying a tablet, complete with new data plan and phone number, after I asked multiple times if he was doing these things and he assured me he was not. He then had me sign for the new tablet, but told me the paper work was for the new iPhone I was purchasing. He was sweating profusely during the transaction, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he had a medical problem. I had to visit the store 3 times, and was told by fellow workers someone comes in once a week as a victim of a similar scam by Brandon. He told me multiple times he was putting customer services notes in my file, this was also a lie. Upon contacting AT&T we had a conference call with him, he denied everything, and when I told him his employees said he scams many, he became belligerent and said he was going to "get them". Fantastic managing skills at work here. Luckily, AT&T realized se have been customers on a 7-person family plan for over 12 years, apologized profusely for my treatment at this store, and took back the tablet and plan at their own cost. If I could I wouldn't give any stars to this crook of a joint. Sold me a tablet for "$0.01" and swore I could cancel at any time and I could even "sell it on craigslist"... When I got my Bill there was $85 worth in additional fees for the $0.01 tablet! Plus a two year contract with warranty I didn't ask for that totaled $480! When I went in 29 days later (once I received my Bill) to correct the matter they said it was passed the buyers remorse phase and weren't going to do anything about it. The sales guy has a tattoo behind his ear and is a mid twenties Hispanic guy. The manager is a bald Caucasian man and a real gem of a guy... Avoid these two like they're the Ebola virus... The manager told me the sales guy shouldn't have lied to me, but what could he do? He also said he didn't have time to deal with the matter that day and would call me later... Never did. I left messages. Never returned. And, the sales guy told me I should change my plan from unlimited data to a lesser data plan and we would save $160/mo. Wrong. Without informing me it changed my plan to the Next plan and I now pay $25/mo for my device... Which in two years will total $600. And I share the plan with my mother so when she renews she will also be stuck with the $25 fee whatever her device. So essentially we originally paid $230 for unlimited data and now with two new phones and the new lesser data plan we total $220. These people are crooks. Steer clear. There's a reason why AT&T just got hit for a lawsuit for adding unnecessary fees on members plans. And this horrid of a day all started bc my HTC One bought from the device center stopped taking charge two days after the 90 day warranty expired..and they wouldn't honor it. read more

This store is stark. There are walls of colorful displays advertising all the different phones and tablets sold by AT&T yet absolutely nowhere for customers to sit. And when there are at most two employees helping people at a time, waiting without a place to sit is unbearable. If you need to get a new SIM card, then do not even bother coming to this or any other AT&T retail store because they do not have them. Only an AT&T Company store carries new SIM cards. There is one nearby on MoPac just north of 2222. Of course, when I called prior to coming over, the employee on the phone failed to tell me that. So after waiting 15 minutes while an employee helped an incredibly technology-inept customer as another employee just sat around on their phone, I was told they had no SIM cards. David, one of the reps, gave me information that was useful for caring for my future phones while Carlos assisted me with the process of replacing my phone. I was going to a staff retreat two days from then and needed my phone pretty quick so the supervisor waived the fee for expedited shipping! This was honestly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. My husband and I went in to get a new phone blah blah and some a young guy named Christian sold us our phone. He put in the computer the wrong thing which was of course more expensive even though he told us he fixed it it continued to show up on our AT&T app as the wrong thing all weekend. In addition, he told us the phone would be coming "overnight" on Monday but it didn't come until Tuesday. Not a big deal just lied. He was also very wishy washy over details. He is a cell phone sales rep - it is what it is. I went in to pick up my phone Tuesday and get it activated which you would think AT&T service reps would be competent at doing. I spent 30 minutes for her Kristin or Christina or whatever to get it activated and after a while she said "I guess everyone is trying to activate their phone right now". While I was waiting three others -THREE -customers came in for different reasons and couldn't get proper service so they were visibly pissed. When one of them left the manager - a douche bag hot tempered prick (the manager)- started talking crap behind his back saying things like, "well good bring his wife back in here, it's not our problem" and "he is WAY over the 14 day period not our problem". REALLY???? DIDN'T ANYONE EVER TELL YOU THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT? What an idiot. No wonder he is manager of a shitty AT&T store and not something more. After I got fed up and left to activate my new phone myself. I called to customer service line - which was very easy to do KRISTIN or CHRISTINE or whatever her name was - the phone lady told me that whatever KRISSY (sarcasm) did at the store ruined my SIM card and I was going to have to get another one. That meant go back to the store (shit) or wait for the new one to come overnight. I decided to do the overnight but was going to go by the store one more time to see if this clown show could get their acts together. I walk in and Kristin/Christine/Krissy/whatever - spent another 15/20 minutes trying to figure out activating my phone. She came back to tell me that I need a new SIM card (not shit I just told you that) and that they didn't have any in the store. I stormed out saying this is the worst store ever (which it really is) - and headed to the Balcones and 2222 store which was God Sent. They were wonderful. GO THERE. A year ago, I just went to the store to pay my bill and Brandon just gave us Hotspot which he said it's just free. We asked him numerous times if it's under any contract or charge anything on. He answered 'no' so many times. We trusted him. A year later, I decided to move to tmobile and just realized that I was paying for that Hotspot for a year which cost more than 200 dollars and it was under 2 year contract. I had to pay 100 dollars to cancel that Hotspot service which i never used. I was really mad that customer service couldn't do anything to us even though we got scammed by one salesman in this att store. I paid about 400dollars total. I walked in Austin AT&T store( Burnet RD, AT&T, Austin, TX, 78756, Sale Associate Lisa ***) with my friend(We are on a family plan with AT&T cell phone service)on March 21st. I expressed my interest in Digital Life to a sales associate and said I am an AirBnB host. I told her what I was looking for was 1. a Keypad that I can set up passcode, lock and unlock on my phone meanwhile monitoring the lock; 2. Security monitoring that with 1 button I can reach the police; 3 a camera that monitors the front door which I can view videos. The sales associate didn't introduce anything, instead she said the Digital life has got everything I needed including a temperature control of AC. I then said I don't need that, and she responded with it comes with a package. At first she said AT&T is running a special for $9.99 per month for monitoring and $0 installation fee and $0 equipment fee. We said then we were surely interested. Then she lead us to her table to start setting things up, then she said actually there was a special for $29.99 for the installation and equipment fee. We were like even though it was different than what she initially said, but still it wasn't a bad deal. The she started asking us for our information, and we sat there for at least 30 minutes for signing up. While she was going through things on her computer, I asked"What am I really getting?I said what I needed, but I didn't know what else the package come with. " Once again she said, just everything you mentioned that you needed and smoke detector, motion sensor, I told her I don't need the smoke detector and motion sensor. She responded that she would make a note, and I asked for carbon monoxide detector instead and made a hand written note. She gave me name Lisa, and I requested for her last name ***. Without the introduction of how to use Digital life and demo, I asked can she show me how to use it or receive a manual. She said the installation team will teach me, and just got to DIgital life website to watch videos. When I got home, I started reading reviews on Digital life and reading my receipt, the following are the things I was misinformed and untold at all: 1. My monthly Service charge is $62.55 (When I called Digital life, they said I was signed up with smoke detector, motion sensor, all kinds of stuff that I told her I didn't need)I was told I am paying for $9.99 per month at the store. 2. Their service has 2 years contract. I wasn't told at all. 3. The first 14 days is free trial, I can cancel within 14 days at no cost I was told. However, on the receipt it says "A restocking fee up to $99 applies if equipment has been installed, all parts are not returned, or an AT&T authorized technician is required to remove equipment. AT&T does not remove all equipment." 4. The installation time will take 5 hours according to the technician which I wasn't informed either. Ok. I feel scammed by the Lisa. I wouldn't think that Lisa reflects all sales associates or how AT&T does its business, but she was definitely uninformed of thier own product. ATT store service is usually hit or miss. I actually left the Balcones store in Austin because the woman checking people in "didn't see me" and checked in 4 people ahead of me, so I found the next closest location on Yelp, so glad I did. I wanted to upgrade my iPhone from 4S to 5S and Richard, the rep who assisted me, made it super easy and actually lowered my monthly bill by almost half, plus I left the store with a new phone that had all of my old phone's data on it. He also called to follow up to make sure all was working well and gave me a tip about connecting to home wi-fi. I know this store has some bad reviews for other staff, but Richard (and I think he's fairly new) is great at customer service and I will skip the Balcones ATT store for this one next time! read more

Lazy f*cks. I went in to verify international roaming on my account. There were three employees "helping" one customer. By the time the one sitting down realized I was there after about 10 minutes, he wouldn't bother to look up my account. He just said if you added it online you're fine. I asked again, you sure don't need to look up my account? He said, "no." Well I chatted with AT&T online the next day and sure enough my number did not have the Mexico roaming plan added, just my moms. It could have been very costly. He gave me great advice about what to do with my old phone and which service to choose and even help me understand what the best option for Internet at my house was giving me an AT&T quote and explaining all the different services that were available for me. Please save yourself the headaches, unbelievably rude, silo'd and company over client focus you will ever experience. Since switching to them in Nov. 2017, we have had several, multi-day outages... a little difficult if you work from home or kids study online. Ok, things happen though, it is how you recover or deal with them, right? Well, if it is, AT&T runs a masterclass in what not to do... the first time we had an outage they blamed the router... then the technician came, the router was fine, he blamed the infrastructure leading to the house. He was in and out of the house, but left without an update... I didn't know if he was coming back or not? I waited about an hour and then called customer support... turned out he was gone for the day and a new tech was coming the next day to fix it.... which did occur later the following day. My most recent outage, which is still ongoing, is equally as baffling. The technician came yesterday, day 5 of our outage, spent 3 hours here, said he couldn't fix it but a different tech would come tomorrow and look at the boxes in our area... the second technician came, spent 3 hours trying to fix it, letting me know my service was switched without notifying me to a service their infrastructure doesn't support in my area. If I picked up my house and moved it 4000 feet down the road, problem solved... I asked what could be done? He told me he can't fix it, couldn't give me an update on when it might be fixed or what the next steps were... he was also hung up on by his own internal technician who was supposed to help him. When he left, I called and asked for a UVerse manager. After two transfers and a 45 minute wait, I explained the challenges I had, and that I needed to switch providers. I said I would keep my cell phones with ATT but couldn't rely on their other services. I asked if there would be a termination fee and she said yes. I said even after what I have been through and that you can't even tell me when it will be back up? Nope, nothing.... I said, I was making this call to politely explain why I'm leaving and I was willing to keep my cell service. She said there is nothing she can do it is policy. I said, interesting, the tech told me you will waive it for the issues I am having. It wasn't until I asked for her complete name again, recapped the time we had spent on the phone, what department she was in, and that I wanted to get this correct for the letter I was writing to corporate that she budged to cover for half. Needless to say, I would not work with this company for anything.... unless you like poor services, long hold times, working with disengaged employees and being aggravated. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THE WORST COMPANY EVER-AT&T!!! This is where my nightmare started but this review is about AT&T in general as a company. I have NEVER been through so much BS in my entire life with a company! My story is to long to put from start to end but it started with me walking into this store to purchase a new phone because mine was broken (unusable) and I was told I could get a great deal on a new phone, all I had to do was switch to their new NEXT plan (no contract) and pay a small fee a month to get any phone you want and its no contract so if you don't want the phone, just turn it in for either a new phone or can leave AT&T. They did not go into any more detail, I asked there is no huge penalty for wanting to leave for whatever reason, they said NO, just turn the phone back in!!!!! Come to find out after the many, many, many phone calls & visits to AT&T, I found out more & more about this "NO CONTRACT" that they wont tell you up front! So I purchased a phone but it had to be ordered, they promised no more than 3-5 business days, well 8 days later, 3 visits to the store and 4 phones calls to AT&T, STILL NO PHONE! They FINALLY told me it was 500 BACK OREDERED AND WE DONT KNOW WHEN YOU WILL RECIEVE IT!!! U can imagine my anger! Once I FINALLY got someone to actually assist me that had any authority to do anything, they ordered me another phone and put me back on contract (only way to get a phone that I didn't have to wait an undetermined amount of time for). Few more things happened in between here, more visits to a store, had to trade phone again, at this point I have probably spoken to a total of 20 different employees of AT&T on phone & in person. Well I received my bill and for just me, ONLY LINE, it was $170!!! You can imagine my anger. I have a friend that has 4 phones and pays that much! Got someone again after many phone calls that could actually do something, had to explain my situation again for the 50TH TIME it felt like and they fixed my bill, back to what I was paying before, when that conversation ended, I was aware I was still on contract. So fast forward April-Nov 2014. I am getting HORRIBLE cell reception, takes 10-15 times to send a text, web pages wont load, its horrible! So again I dread calling because I am sure Im going to be told NOTHING THAT CAN HELP ME AS ALWAYS! So I get someone and they tried to trouble shoot my phone of course didn't work, they get into my bill (why I don't know) and she said your on the NEXT PLAN, YOU CAN IMAGINE MY SUPRISE AND ANGER TO THIS, I WAS IRRATE! So within a weeks time, I have now had to talk to about 10 different employees, in which no one could fix anything, my phone still doesn't work right, they are calling me a liar, I knew I was on the next plan and I'm like with the million different people I have had to deal with and explain my story to, you don't think there is a miscommunication somewhere???!!!!! It is BEYOND me that a company would make someone go through such BS, when all I tried to do from the get go was get a new phone! I never got the phone I originally wanted, my bill is still high and every chance they get, they are up charging me for something, cant explain why my bill keeps going up!!!!! I asked to trade my phone in for the phone I wanted from the jump, they say I cant do that without paying almost $300,(BUT THAT WAS THE PERK OF THE NEXT PLAN, TO TRADE WHENEVER YOU WANTED WITH NO FEE, JUST TURN OLD PHONE IN) to get out of "THEIR NO CONTRACT PLAN" I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALMOST $600!! This is the biggest SCAM THEY HAVE COME UP WITH! It was cheaper to get out of a contract!!!! LOOOOONG story short, they will do nothing to fix the BS they have caused, not even give me the phone I originally ordered. When I call, they all say they have no authority to do anything, but they did earlier this year but now that's all changed?? I have never been screwed over by a company so bad and I will not let it go. I deserve to be treated like a human being, not a liar after all the crap they put me through when all I wanted was a new phone. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T, THE BIGGEST SCAMMERS AROUND! I then started to tell him about the location services and wifi not working on my iPhone 6 for the last two weeks, and he interrupted me in a rude voice and said, "You need to go to Apple to get your phone fixed." I said, "Excuse me?" He said, "There's nothing I can do for you." I said, "I have already been to Apple and they told me to come to AT&T!" This time he raised his voice at me. "You need to go to APPLE to get your phone fixed, there's nothing I can do for you!!!" I just stood there, flabbergasted at his rudeness, and said, "Let me put it another way. WHAT CAN you do for me??" He said, "Nothing. It's not our job to fix your phone, it's Apple's job." "Oh really??" I said, incredulous. "Then WHY do I pay AT&T over $100 a month for service if you refuse to help me solve issues with my phone??" And he just repeated himself, as if I'm too stupid to understand what he is saying, except in a ruder tone this time. I asked to speak to the manager, and he said he was the manager. Then I told him to get Apple on the phone and talk to them about it but he refused. I said, "The least you can do is get Apple on the phone and help resolve my issue since I came all the way out here for nothing." So finally he dialed the number and handed me the phone. He wouldn't even get me to a live representative, and I thought, how curious that his phones work all of the sudden if they're down! So I said, "Are you not even going to take the time to get a live agent on the phone?" And he just said no. So I told him exactly what I thought of him (there may have been some colorful words in there) and left very upset. I ended up having to go through hell and back to get Apple to replace my 6, spending countless hours on the phone and making another trip to the Apple store. The moral of the story?? AVOID THIS STORE AND THIS PERSON AT ALL COSTS. He is the WORST manager I have ever come across, and I used to work at Apple corporate, dealing with AT&T all the time. DON'T DO IT. read more

I was also scammed by Brandon at this AT&T store at 5700 Burnet Rd in Austin. My story is almost identical to the one that happened to other Yelp reviewer Meghan. With the tablet promotion that he pushed very very hard, he had me unwittingly sign a 2 year contract (even though he had just gone on about how great it was that I didn't have to sign a contract with them in regards to my new phone), didn't tell me about the initiation fee or the other taxes and fees. He also told me that I was signing for my new phone when in fact I was signing up for a 2 year contract. When I noticed the unexpected fees on my bill, it was 3 days past the "14 day buyers remorse period." I could go on and on but I think Meghan covered it already. Unfortunately, I am a new customer and this is a franchise not a corporate store so I have been told during my many phone calls to AT&T that I am pretty much SOL.
