Our cable, internet and hard-line phone went out on 01-29-26. Called to asked if there was an area outage. All they want to do is run a test over the phone. I know it's outside because this happens very frequent. Now I have to wait EIGHT DAYS for a tech to come out and tell me it's not my equipment it theirs. Man, I miss the good old days when Heritage Cable or Gill Cable was here. At least customer service could tell you if you are in an outage area. Ordered ATT Internet Air in San Jose. Received the gateway quickly. Set up was harder than it needed to be because the confirmation codes wouldn't work half the time - received 6 digits, but the app registration wanted 8 digits sometimes. When finally connected, internet download speeds on speedtest.net only showed 0.5 MBPS to 12 MBPS, a far cry from the advertised 90-300. Most of the time, the app's own speed test couldn't complete the test. Cancelled the next day. At least that was simple. read more

My contract said "HBO max included" when I signed up. AT&T suddenly cut off access to HBO max claiming I had changed my service; their policy is if you change your service they cancel your HBO. Well I manage 2 accounts, my parents account which I changed and my own. After about 3 hours on a call with customer service they said my account is no longer eligible because I changed my service. The worst customer service! I could not be paid enough money to use their services. IF they were the only company that existed, I still could not be paid to have any products they offer. Their wait times for anything is 4 to 24 hours. Furthermore, I am NOT their customer. They had a downed line in my front yard, blocking vehicle access and getting out my front door. I have not been interested in their new products as they roll them out (the same turd service going under a different name). So after I did not take the bait they shuffled my bill so I am paying more for the same product. Most of the experiences I have had with AT&T have been unsatisfactory. Resolutions of service issues have been disappointing and loose promises that equipment will be upgraded some day. They are notorious for raising prices yet offering nothing but different words for the same service. In the beginning I fell for the idea of better faster service. Of course speed is not guaranteed because things conveniently fall outside of their control. What you are really getting is a difference in potential performance which never really materializes at least for a noticeable length of time. Today I discovered my bill increased $25 over the regular price in previous months. When I went online and looked at the chart comparing the difference none of the items had changed. I was paying $50+ for something that used to be free and there were also some reductions but in the end I was paying $25 more for identical service. I called the contact number and they said it would be a 10 minute wait. 40 minutes later I had to hang up. It all smells of a SCAM and there is really a monopoly of organized liars operating everything. No other service is true competition. They are all doing the same thing or they are too small to compete in terms of reliable coverage of a greater area. read more

A couple of days ago, my fiber router started flashing red on the button that is usually solid white. This usually occurs when there is a power outage of at least a few seconds, and as Jorge and Johnny (see previous reviews) said in the past, the router should reset itself within half an hour under those circumstances. This time it did not reset, so I called AT&T Customer Service and spoke with a lovely young woman named Ron. She ran some tests from her end, then had me perform several tests (unplugging the cord to the wall and the router, waiting and plugging them back in, and also pushing the tiny red reset button on the back of the router for 15 seconds). Nothing worked. She then set up a technician appointment to come to my house which would have taken place this morning. However, later the day the problem first occurred I noticed that the light was once again solid white, and I was able to use the internet etc. so I canceled the appointment. I shouldn't have done that because there was no streaming ability. The network details showed that it was likely I was using the connected Ethernet to access - the Wi-Fi was "on" but not allowing any streaming. I also could not locate the server name on the network list so I could log on. I called again the next day and spoke to a very nice young man named Mark, explained the tests that Ron had done, and said it wasn't necessary to redo them, just set up another appointment which I would keep; he did that with kindness and i felt that he cared about my issue. Today was the appointment; Raymond Mirandilla, a very experienced and kind gentleman, came and as soon as he saw the red flashing button, he said he knew what was wrong. It turned out that the signal coming from outside my house was set way too high, and this is the reason for the problem. He was able to fix the issue, and we tested everything, including streaming capability to my AppleTV. Raymond was thorough and explained everything afterward - that's why I was able to describe what he did (see above). If I ever need service from AT&T in the future I will be asking for Raymond's excellent expertise! We've had AT&T for 5 years, with intermittent off and on situations where I have to continually reboot, but manageable. Well, I'm moving to the East Coast and called to schedule a disconnect and either complete break up or they move with me. They don't provide internet in my new home in New Hampshire, so the guy starts trying to sell me their affiliate there, Comcast. No thank you. Then he tells me that they can get me internet through Direct TV which would be better than streaming! I asked how much and he said many of their customers pay as little as $200. That's not little. Fixed income, streaming is fine by me. Actual service wise, it is good. Customer service, horrible. The installation was done great, technician did a good job, service was seamless so far (3 months). When I switch from Comcast, they was doing a promotion - same monthly price with Comcast with 350$ gift card. First, getting gift card is insanely difficult. You need to wait until the date where you can claim (yes, you need to claim at specific date window) - log in to their website and click several things. Then you will need to do another process couple weeks later. Then you will need to another process couple weeks later. Should not miss their email. I won't go too much detail, but I can tell I was not able to claim 150$ (lucky to claim 200$). And then there is another paperless-autopay discount- which is extremely hard for me to remember/how to do it. Actual service is good, but in terms of bill it is ridiculous. They run promos on their website for new customers so I was about to get $225 in gift cards/rebates bringing monthly cost to around ~$43 for the next 12 months. After being an AT&T customer since 2015 in my location I decided as a retired person that $150 a month for tv channels that I do not watch and internet which I do use was too expensive. I cancelled the tv on April 11 and just left the internet because I work from home and view many television shows on my computer and firestick through my television. I decided that I can't go without my nightly news channels, or the basic channels of 2, 4, 5 7 and 11 and called their customer support yesterday. I was shocked with the response that " you will never again be entitled to get television from us again!" That was their response to try and reinstate a basic channel lineup. So, I am going with the other devil player in cable, Comcast, the only other providers out here in south San Jose. God help me! I manage IT for several organizations. Back in April we decided to upgrade the Internet connection for one of them to 1GB. Alas, as it is a franchise hotel, we are limited to AT&T. Now in November another that was already using Etheric Networks internet had to do a emergency move. 2 days later they were onsite to do a site survey for the new location. It took us 2 weeks to get movers in. Etheric moved the connection over the same day. AT&T still hasn't completed the upgrade (now at 7 months) but they did start billing for it 6 months in. When comparing Etheric vs AT&T you'll find that Etheric is striving to great customer service. AT&T is in competition with Comcast to be the worst. AT&T & Comcast will sell you a speed and you'll be lucky if you get 85% of that (under no load). Etheric? I have 2 sites using them. One is 20M (meas 40M down/35M up) and the other is 100MB (meas 277M down, 217M up). This is UNDER LOAD. These numbers are consistent and we've seen them ever since the circuits went in. Service is as reliable as AT&T and when there is a problem there's no comparison. Etheric support knows what they're doing. AT&T support seems only to be competent at making you want to run from the room screaming in frustration. Why can't we give zero stars? AT&T deserves it. read more

AT&T stinks! Quick to take your order but service installation on iNet and TV (2nd highest tier bundle) is the dumps. They failed to show up for three scheduled installations over 2 weeks. Oh no, the drive from Santa Cruz to Watsonville is so scary. You'll get lots of promises and guarantees, both verbal and text, from their help desk in the Phillippines, but not from their low no-show techs. Went with Spectrum; better price, all sports, HBO, Showtime packages included. And, the Spectrum tech showed up as scheduled and did a great job laying the cable where I wanted. I purchased a pre paid plan for a year took me hours to activate it only to be told that it will not suit my needs and I needed to migrate to a post plan in a corp store which I did. However they said I would lose the full 300.00 I paid if I tried to migrate the service. So I agreed to a new plan signed up activated it in the store. Today I go to login and finish my registration errors and I call. 1 hour on the phone and we are sorry you will not be able to do that for at least 30 days WTF! ATT Internet is a steaming pile of manure. They require you to use their absolute trash equipment which has none of the advanced and convenient modem features from any other halfway decent provider. I went to bed on a Thursday with a fully functional modem hooked up to a high quality power surge protector. Woke up with a modem that just stopped functioning - no one touched it, nothing happened, surge protector wasn't tripped, all other equipment is fine - it just died. The thin is maybe 18 months to the old? I have a middle of the road netgear router that still runs fine after over a decade and moving across country and these clowns require you to use absolute trash that no that can even last two years? Their new service is not compatible with anything other than their two trashy, no feature, weak AF wifi authorized modems And when it breaks for no reason - what's the resolution? We can send someone out in a week? A week? I don't live in the sticks! I am in a major metropolitan area with ATT vans driving around all the time - you can't get one person to divert from their route for 5 minutes to drop a functional modem off for a week? Also, I'm supposed to take a day off work for you? Cause your garbage equipment is somehow my fault? How about you get some real modems from some reputable companies instead of this absolutely trash that bogs down and needs to be rest like 4 times a week even under low usage conditions? I canceled Att/ direct tv in January, I shipped the receivers back early February, the day after I received boxes to ship them back, well within their timeframe. Mid march I see the my bank account has been debited $244.12.... so I call them... They agreed that I sent the receivers back to them via their supplied shipping, but that the had not been received in the El Paso depot. I asked how is usps delivery time my fault and they agreed that I was in the right. They also said that they issued a credit back to my account. I asked when , and they said they didn't know. And I'd just have to wait. I explained that their reckless charge was going to put me in the red because I am on a fixed income, and that I would be receiving bank charged. They said I'm sorry... I didn't do anything wrong, but got charged for it, and they agreed to that fact. Yet they wouldn't reimburse me immediately.... or give me a date when that would happen... In summary DIRECTV is overpriced, horrible customer support, and irresponsible in their billing/crediting process. Avoid them ! Don't get scammed by AT&T! Was promised visa gift cards to start an internet and cable package, we received a fraction of what was promised. Have tried to get in contact with them, been put on hold for hours, transferred to the wrong departments, was told they'd call us back....so frustrating. What's interesting is that I communicated this deal through their chat feature so you'd think this was all officially documented in writing...Nope! I live in Palo Alto and recently have had 2 outages of service over the last two months. AT&T missed appointments without contacting me and each time took over a week to restore service.
