This review is not about service. It is about the inability to reach a manager or get a phone number for the office on Sunset. The only phone number listed is the 800 number, and when you call them they say their office is in a different area of the country, and they do not have access to the manager's name or the phone number for the Rocklin office. I would think they would have access to an on-line directory. I wouldn't have to leave a Yelp review if the information I need was listed on the local office's website or the 800 number had access to the information I requested. read more

I started setting up Astound in December 2025 for $40 lifetime service. received first bill in January and was f for $50, I called and they said I needed to sign up for auto pay, which I did. In February I received another bill for $50, I called again and she said only $40 would be taken out because I was signed up for auto pay and the bill went out before this was done fine. I said no worries. I'll eat $10 then I get another bill in March again for $50. I call again and he said I'd be charged $50 because I needed to sign up for paperless which last month the lady never mentioned so now I'm out $20 and the person I was talking to today basically could care less that's why they're getting a two rating. As for the Internet service, way better than AT&T. read more

She logged in my request and 15 minutes later Jeff Everson called me back and kept me informed about situation at hand, Jeff had his team get me squared away within 4 hours. Stay away. I've purchased from 5 different wifi companies and I'm updating this review to downgrade Astound from the 2nd worst. Hands down, they are the worst internet company in the country. The short story is Astound has lied multiple times. I've never seen one company have so many people directly contradict one another. Customer service has repeatedly told me there will be no future charges only to immediately charge me. Then they lied about what these charges were for. Working is Astound is the worst decision anyone can make for their business or their home. The long story started when a rep mumbled that I would not be charged a pending bill on my account because my service was ending before that date. I was then immediately charged after this conversation. I'm sure they are legally in the clear because their contracts are intentionally confusing, but they told me in plain English that I was done. Because they love to muddle their policy, I'll tell you exactly how mine went: For my first month, my plan started on the 13th. Billing statements were on the 14th. Bills were collected on the 4th, but autopay actually collected on the 5th. The service plan renewed on the 12th of every month. Their service reps gave incorrect dates for charges. If you want to see what billing cycle you've paid for and when, good luck. Their website only tells you the date the billing statement was on. Have fun digging through your email, contracts, and bank statements. While I was on hold for 40 minutes trying to cancel, I texted their hotline and was told I had no other options than over the phone. When I asked if I could go to a physical location, they changed their story to acknowledge the secret second option. After my 40 minute hold, the rep said they could not give me a receipt for cancellation (this was proven untrue by another rep). They said I didn't need one because my account would reflect that my service was cancelled. This was also untrue. I had to call support 2 more times before my account actually reflected this. Support will tell you to check the website which has inaccurate info. Want better info? Contact support on the phone. The hold line will tell you to hang up and text their support. Text support will tell you they can't help you unless it's over a phone call. Phone support has a 40 minute wait time and will tell you the only way to confirm what they've told you is on the website. After my service ended, they charged me $20 in "taxes" but the rep told me I could've avoided this "tax" by returning my equipment before my service ended. I turned my equipment in the day after my service was confirmed to end even though I was told I had 30 days to return it before a charge went through. Either Astound lied about that, or they lied when they said I could have avoided this fee. In their rep's own words, this is a late fee. Telling customers that a late fee is just a tax is immoral. If it's not a late fee, you cannot tell me that it is. I will never seek services from them again so long as any other option exists. read more

I had internet installed recently and ran into some frustrating connectivity issues right off the bat. Enter Cody Nash, aka the MVP of customer service. I reached out to him via text--fully expecting a "we'll get to it" response--and instead, he showed up that same day to troubleshoot the issue in person. When the first modem didn't do the trick, Cody didn't shrug and walk away. Nope. He went out, got a second one, came back... and when that one still didn't work, he didn't give up--he showed up again with a third unit until everything was working perfectly. That level of persistence and care is practically unheard of these days. Cody went so far above and beyond, I half expected him to install fiber optic cables with his bare hands. Thanks to him, my work-from-home setup is back on track, and I genuinely could not be more grateful. If every tech rep were like Cody, the world would be a better (and way more connected) place. Give this man a raise, a trophy, and probably his own cape. read more

Currently reviewing all my broadband options and have been a customer with Astound (Wave) for 9 years... I came across a very sweet deal for NEW Astound broadband subscribers of $55/month for 1Gig locked in for two years, unlimited data, no contract, discounted installation, 1 month free, and NO monthly fee for renting their modem...IF you agree (as a new subscriber) to autopay w/checking account and paperless, you get another $10 off per mo, so $45 + $17 (internet/tax fee) = $62/month. I contacted customer service (like I do every year) with the hopes that I could get close to that $62/month payment (AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER).....the absolute best that that CS would do (and this was calling & via DM) was $98 out the door...they refused to waive the $22/month modem fee (despite me paying them $240/year)...they refused to offer me a $10 credit for autopay (stating that this usually is an introductory offer and I probably already benefitted from that, but she said she couldn't go back far enough to verify). Basically, ONLY new customers (who can cancel at anytime) get these benefits. WHO DOES THIS?? Companies with NO competition do. Both CS parties were unwilling to transfer me to customer retention (which they have done in the past) or escalate to anyone else. Oh, and as far as replacing the modem with my own (they mentioned that over and over)....and saving $22/month with a $210 investment...it would take 10 months to breakeven....but Astound couldn't verify if/when they are going to upgrade to the DOCSIS 4.0 modem...this speedier modem with more bells and whistles is already rolling out with some ISPs. I in fact had purchased a modem (on their list), but they could NOT get it activated on their end, so I returned it! I wholeheartedly disagree that I should pay 50% more for the same service just because I'm a current customer! BOO to Astound. read more

Do you want to be repeatedly lied to? Do you want unreliable service? If so then Astound is the company for you! Imagine this... You work at home for a call center, you are talking to a customer when suddenly no Internet. You give it a few minutes, all seams okay so you auto back in and take a call and BAM! no Internet again! You call Astound, talk to a rep who states there is all outage in your area (lie #1) and then states they can send a message to another team for an email to be sent so you can give it to your boss (lie #2). I was shocked, this a new thing? You didn't used to do this! I was excited. Rep reassures me repeatedly this is a new process and yes I will get an email within 30 minutes. (Lies #3+++++). I let my boss know I will have an email about the outage and I post it on our local neighborhood group for those also affected. An hour goes by... No email. I call Astound, ask for leadership, she wants to know why etc. I explain I was lied to multiple times and want leadership. She confirmed no they don't do emails for outages. I said I needed what was promised because I missed work due to the issue. I asked for leadership MULTIPLE times and was told "ok" and then kept clicking around never actually getting me to someone. I asked again and again and then she claimed that she would have an email sent within 2 hours and leadership would call me. I mentioned it was unlikely and that I was being lied to further. She told me again and again. I got done listening to lies and guess what never happened? No email. No call back. I chatted with a Facebook messenger rep who states we didn't have an outage and recommended I call. I declined that because I had spent so much time on the phone already and no way doing it again. This morning I get an email and guess what? It was for a date in AUGUST! So again, if you want to be lied to, and have crappy Internet use astound. If you want the worst customer service out there use Astound. We use to use them for everything, now just Internet. We will be looking into other options. read more

DO NOT GET THIS INTERNET!!! Please don't do this to yourself!! We have astound and it has been the worst internet provider. We have had to have multiple modem changes, they all mysteriously stop working, services outages regularly, AND we pay $135 a month. Finally switched to AT&T which is much cheaper and extremely reliable. For astound there was a 12 hour long service outage, which they did not contact us about, when it finally resolved, our brand new newest model modem somehow had internal damage from the service outage. Astound could not provide tech repair for a full week and would only credit us $25 for our troubles. I can't stress this enough. Do NOT use astound. read more

I moved and now have Astound as my internet service provider. The community where I live had the their cable installed during development. I like them as a provider and I have zero issues with my internet service and speed. They are also easy to get a hold of regarding billing etc. The only complaint I have is the cost. Been with 'em since WAVE, and although the service of providing basic high-speed broadband is amongst the decent, sometimes at the right price. However, the many deceptive ways of keeping subscribers from their money with pre-payment schemes and additional app costing scams, remains uninspiring and underwhelming at best... So the local office that normally serves the surrounding local Auburn/Placer community closes and only offered the nearest location in Rocklin. After a very lengthy and detailed friendly chat with a REAL PERSON/CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (!!! NO AUTOMATED BOT's !!!) over the phone, they still didn't KNOW the office's or even the manager who runs it, phone number ??? So, one could simply call a local rep and simply pay one's local internet bill. Oh, but customer service situated somewhere throughout the country, can easily charge an additional $9.95 "Service Fee" to my account (which I had to reluctantly agree with, or else go without paying the bill) of what I could have simply done in person, or even more simply paid for, locally over the phone to the nearest local office... IF ONLY I had known the phone number customer service didn't know and/or was very reluctant to provide... I was a Wave/Astound customer for 5 1/2 years+. In January I contacted them to transfer my service to a different address (same neighborhood) because I was moving. The customer service people were not able to complete the request and could not explain why not. After numerous calls that spanned several days, they still could not arrange the transfer. Numerous times, they told me to call back in a few days to see if they figured it out. (These extra days pushed me into the next billing cycle, which I learned later was gonna cost me) I finally contacted AT&T and chose their service, installed the next day. Astound charged me for the whole billing cycle, while I had returned their equipment and cancelled service on the 4th day of the cycle. I contested the payment through my credit card company and withheld a prorated amount that reflected the number of days I did not have service with them. After a review the credit card company ruled in my favor and told me I could keep the amount I withheld. Astound continues to bill me and refuses to honor the outcome of the credit card company's review. I called Astound to explain that they needed to stop billing and they said the payment protest didn't matter. I explained that Astound's lack of ability to process my transfer was the reason I ended up in the next billing period. I asked to speak to someone who could help and was told "someone would call me back in a couple of days." Guess what...no call back. Just more billing now with threats to send it to collections and impact my credit rating. Pure BS. read more

To get a copy of said bills, there is a $5 copay for each one that should be sent to me as a courtesy for the hundreds I spend on their services. Had an appointment set for noon to 4 PM. Was home when the technician hung a door hanger at 3 PM. Never heard a knock, no doorbell, no phone call, nothing. I'm thinking he snuck up, hung the door hanger and left so he didn't have to do any work. Would give it zero. I don't not have Astound and will never based in the reviews. Here's my issue. We have new neighbors putting in Astound the installers decided it was OK to trespass on my property without permission and start tearing up my shrubs and drip lines using a shovel (which they lied and said there was no shovel but I clearly saw it and you can see evidence of shovel marks in the soil) damaging roots to very sensitive bushes. Not only that they were parked in front of a fire hydrant and blocking my driveway. Thank goodness I spotted them before they did to much damage. They continued to argue with my husband saying they were coming toi talk to us which wasn't true because they had to have been here for a while working and i was watchingthem standing around. I called the non-emergency sheriff and they arrived shortly. The workers continued to lie to the sheriff and I hope he realized that. Finally, after some back and forth they said they will reroute the 40 year old line on the property of the people getting it installed. This should have been done in the beginning. If only zero stars were available. Live in Rocklin. There has been an outage for 32 hours and counting. The resolution time changes every 2-3 hours. When you call at that time they add another 2-3 hours. It has been changed 15 times. You can't get a live person until after the outage is resolved. Wow- basically blocking phone calls. The Chat people??? Are clueless as to what is going on. I would call the customer service and resolution management HORRIFIC however they are non existent. I've been with Wave/Astound for over 4 years now and over the course of 4 years the price has kept increasing with no warning. I spoke with a rep a month ago to switch my plan due to my data usage increasing. He was helpful & doubled my data. He said he back dated it so the overages would be covered and I wouldn't have to pay extra fees for the overage. He confirmed with me that moving forward 64 dollars would come out of my account. The first bill after that conversation, 64 came out of my account as he stated. Fast forward to a month later, I get a bill for 149! I called wave and ended up speaking to a supervisor named Donovan who was VERY condescending and spoke to me as if I was a child. I told him what the other rep did for my account and he told me there is nothing they can do and basically called me a liar and I still have 149 coming out of my account...despite what the other rep told me. I received incorrect information and they weren't willing to do anything to help. I'm so disappointed. read more

The technician who came to troubleshoot the issue has spent 10 mins resulting in swapping the modems by giving us a "free" (as he stated) company modem and taking our working modem when he left. I have really loved the reliable service. I pay premium for top speed and allocation. We started having internet issues last night. Today, the customer service chat bot/agent said it rebooted my modem, verified channels were balanced, and the internet was good. The modem was flashing blue the ENTIRE time. It did not reboot and was not connected. That was 45 minutes of my life I won't get back. Internet "magically" came back, and the agent assumed we were done in spite of the unreliable connection. I used to get great customer service, but now I am being told I need to pay $80 for a tech to come out. This experience is unacceptable and not the premium service I pay $1600 a year for. I need reliable premium internet for work. Prices up, customer service down. I miss the days of local WAVE competence. The only reason this isn't 1 star is that the internet works great when connected. read more

if you have a choice for television and internet service other than Astound, go with any other company. Our service for cable goes out at least twice a week. I am constantly having to unplug and reset the cable box. We have missed the final few minutes of multiple shows and sporting events because service went out. They are by far the worst cable provider we have ever had. I regret having to even give them 1 star because they didn't even deserve that. I can't believe they have the audacity to charge so much for their service, unfortunately where we live, they're the only provider in our area.
