I had a bad experience at their bar on Labor Day weekend -- I was never greeted; my order was incorrect; and the bartender never checked in on me after the food arrived the second time. I wrote a letter to the management detailing the situation and sent it the next day. No response. I don't think they care about their customers. Avoid. read more

Went for our second visit. The experience was totally different and we were all quite pleased. The food was excellent, the service was great and the entertainment fabulous. The menu choices are creative. If you were to say don't let one bad experience shy you away from a second visit this would be a perfect example. Food here was five star excellent, and I would return for that reason. But the wait staff was subpar. They failed to properly stagger our appetizers from our salads and the salads from the entree, but the worse part was they were constantly interrupting our dinner every few minutes to ask if they could clear the table of our appetizer plates and entree plates before we were done eating. I had the lamb gyro. The worst excuse for a gyro I have ever had and to add to the poor dish is the $21 price and $30 with tax and tip. Expected more from a high end restaurant. Let's start with the lame side salad. The the gyro had a small bed of lettuce and no tomatoes. The pork was very dry and chewing like it was warmed leftovers in a microwave. The pieces were placed on top and fell all over the plate. It had very little sauce. So in an attempt to be able to eat this, I asked for more tzakziki sauce. I was given a small portion of cold sauce that I could not even spread on. I told the waitress and she replied to share with the chef. I did not get any "sorry" or feedback. I have had better gyros from any one of a number of small Greek shops. I hope they take this review constructively. This is one example why I do not go out as often these days. Probably the worst meal I have had in a long time. First let's start with the drinks. I ordered an ice tea with a lemon and it actually tasted rancid. My wife took a sip and she said there was something seriously wrong. There was definitely a funk going on with the tea. Next was the gyro. You would think that a Greek restaurant like this would have a good gyro. It was inedible. I took one bite and it was like eating pure pork fat. It was greasy and the pork meat was almost non existent. There was so much grease that it got all over my new shirt and ruined it. I can't wait for Estia to open up a location in downtown Falmouth this Fall. This place is so delicious, so full of fresh flavors, I went a few weeks ago and I'm already craving to go back. Estia is located in Mashpee Commons and consistently busy during the summer. We went on a Monday night after an early showing of a movie nearby and there was a 30 minute wait. We walked around the Commons to kill time and was seated just under 30 minutes after we put our names in. The waiter came over to give us water and a place of delicious olive oil and bread (the bread clearly comes from the pizza dough and is *delightful*!). We munched on two servings of the bread while we looked at the unbelievable amounts of choices on their menu. You can get Mediterranean favorites as well as pizza, seafood, and steak. I ended up with getting the char-grilled tenderloin steak pita wrap ($16). It was phenomenal. A warm pita stuffed with steak, onions and tomatoes, and slathered in tzatziki sauce. Delicious. A couple next to us ordered pizza and it looked fantastic. I will be back to try. Definitely give this place a go if you are in Mashpee Commons (or so to be downtown Falmouth!), just be aware of the wait times and the absolute trouble you'll have deciding on what to order! read more

Opa! Estia Taverna and Bar is a festive place. It's a small place, so people are packed in like sardines. The importance is to get there early- or else get takeout/delivery. They have a wonderful open kitchen, where you can behold their coal fired pizza. It's Greek to me... in a great way, and the best way possible. Greek cuisine is sadly underrated. But in at Estia, you won't dine in Hell. They make a savory scallops pizza which shows that despite what Food Network says, you CAN combine fish and cheese. Their moussaka, along with their eggplant dip, show that the aubergine can be redeemed. Eggplants need lots of love. Estia is a great addition to Mashpee Commons, and there's talk they'll expand upon the Cape. On the Cape, Italian cuisine is one of the basic food groups. My 3rd or 4th time here. Tonight was a summer Wednesday and the place was hoppin but we didn't wait at all. The food was DELICIOUS (me: chicken gyro with green beans, my friend : scallop kebob with 4 giant, juicy scallops and another entire kebob of vegetables) My reason for giving it only 3 stars is that we were jumped upon to clear our plates. asked THREE TIMES during the meal if they could "take away any dishes for us". The second my friend put her fork down, there was a person asking to take it away '. The moment we stood up to leave, the busser was at our table clearing before we left it's side. It was only 9:15 and the restaurant was still busy. I sometimes like to have a few extra bites of my dinner, but had a hard time protecting my food from these clean freak vultures! My mom lives near this restaurant and I was so happy she brought us here. My one regret is that I couldn't order more things on the menu! I had a spinach salad with grilled octopus, we shared the three dip appetizer, and my daughter had the cheese pizza. All were delicious reminders of Greece and the prices were definitely fair for the quality and portion size. Best meal on the cape so far! Very fresh and very delish. This is a small unassuming place. Clean with an open kitchen. But that's not the draw. The food was fantastic! We started w the spicy feta spread. We asked for veggies rather than pita which the graciously obliged. It was delicious. We ordered this in a hurry. Next time, we'll get the plate with three spreads. My number one got a fish plate. Which he ate with a spoon and devoured. It made me wish I liked fish. I got the moussaka. I wanted to eat every bite. I just had no more room. The drink menu is diverse. I had a simple prosecco. My dining partner a beer. Another night, we'll go for drinks and appetizers. The service was good. Very attentive staff. Not the modern let them languish type of service. It was a Tuesday night, so it might vary on a Saturday night. The people who work here have an attitude problem. My friend has celiac disease and cannot eat gluten, so it is a little frustrating that their website does not clarify what is gluten-free and what is not. We called the restaurant to ask if it was gluten-free, and we were put on hold for 10 minutes. They never picked up the phone again so we called again, and there was no answer. We gave up and ordered our food online, and when we went to pick it up we asked and they said it was not gluten-free. We asked if they could remake it to be gluten free, and the woman working in the front said "Your order was put in 30 minutes ago, so there's nothing we can do for you". She looked at us with disdain and just seemed like she could not be bothered. The restaurant was empty except for us, so making a new order couldn't have been an issue. We called the restaurant from the car to see if we could make a new order to have a new meal made, and I was yelled at by the woman on the phone! She yelled at us for not calling the restaurant beforehand... This did not make sense to me. We tried calling but no one would speak to us. We eventually just asked for a refund and the woman just laughed and said yes and then hung up on us. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Horrible staff and horrible service. read more

Fantastic Greek restaurant that serves other types of food. My 2 sisters and I came to Mashpee for sisters weekend and found this restaurant - ended up eating there several times. Best meals when had in the area. Great vegan/vegetarian options. Saturday night had live music - so much fun! My Manhattan was perfect! Servers were outstanding! We had the lamb lollipops, spanakatopia app and calamari app - all were fantastic and the lamb lollipops were the best I've ever had (and I've had them a lot). We liked it so much we ordered takeout pizza a few nights later, scallop-prosciutto and sausage-carmelized onion, these were decent but not great. The scallops were small (bay scallops) and overcooked in their oven, the sausage couldn't be found (literally) and the onions weren't carmelized. But our dine-in food was so good I have to give it 5 stars. read more

We were very excited that a Greek restaurant was opening in the Commons. We were extremely disappointed. Best part of meal was the bread and dipping oil. A couple of us ordered the lamb.One med. rare and one medium. The kabobs were overcooked. Mushy. Very soft. They tasted as if they were microwaved. It seems as though they were tenderized. No pink in either entree. Definitely not grilled. Had odor. One skewer was the lamb and the other was the veggie skewer which barely showed grill marks and they weren't even cooked. The entree and rice came out cool. Chicken kabob was cool, dry,and veggies also raw. Complained to waitress. Ended up not eating. Service was very friendly. Very noisy. On weekend nights they have musicians playing. Restaurant is very small and can't hear person next to you and seating very tight. Owner not there on Sat. night. They still have a lot of work to do to get this place up to par. We had heard negative comments from more than a few people but tried it anyway. Give me Bleu or Trevino any day!! I really REALLY wanted to like this place, but it was just...so bad. I went to dinner here with 3 other people and we got appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Honestly, not a single thing we got was any good. The gyro pita was just dried out flakes of beef, not the slices of gyro off the big cone of meat. The saganaki was cold and hard, not melty and crisp. The pita and bread are both super thick and doughy. My gyro came with a side of brussel sprouts with pancetta and there was no pancetta at all and they were super undercooked. On the other hand, the service was really good. Our waiter was so sweet and polite. I really hope the management can do a 180 on the food. As it stands right now, this place is not worth going to at all. read more

Went here with a friend for lunch on the Veteran's day holiday. Have to say I *loved* my food - tender lamb kabobs and crispy French fries. The complimentary bread and oil were great, and the meal came with a good-sized salad, as well, for a reasonable price. The ambiance was cute and the servers were quick and attentive, even with such a large holiday crowd. Why three stars? 1. There is not a single affordable wine bottle on the list. Yes, some are $28 and $29, but those are the same ones you can get down the road at the bottle store for 2/$15. 2. While my food was great, my friend did not enjoy hers. Her shrimp kabob was dried out and stuck fast to the stick. She also felt the rice that she chose as her side had no flavor. I'll start with the positive: the Grape leaves were very tasty. Among some of the best I've had. Negative: the rest of the food was terrible. Everything is SOAKED in olive oil. The hummus was awful. Seem fairly hard to goof up, but they did. Their version of roasted red pepper hummus was this al dente chunky oily slop with zero flavor. The accompanying pita were also SOAKED. Could not eat. Switched to brick oven wings. Good flavor, and decent job baking/oven grilling, but again DRENCHED in oil. I don't know if it was simply a bad night, or a new chef? But I've eaten lots of Mediterranean food in my life, and Estia's take was horrible. Also, as a former server, I think it's classless for the servers to be rolling silverware at the table next to you. While the restaurant is busy. Closing sidework/rolling silverware is part of it, but do it out of sight in the back somewhere. Bad judgement by management to allow this. Sorry to be harsh. TERRIBLE SERVICE! What a horrible couple experiences. The both times were delivery; the first was waiting 1 hr. 40 minutes for our food (we are located 11 minutes away). They blamed the delivery driver. The second time was last night. Tried to order online and it wouldn't work so had to call. Placed the phone order at 5:18 PM, just a couple times for two people, then no food until I finally called them at 7:06 PM. No answer, just went to voicemail. Seven tries later they pick up and look into the issue. On hold for nine minutes, except they didn't actually put me on hold so I can hear them trying to figure out where my order is. They call the driver to see if she has it already, she doesn't, the finally find it and come back and say "[they] have no excuse" that the driver is on the way back and will bring it to me now. By the time I got off the phone TWO HOURS had passed from when I ordered. The driver was just five minutes away, plus I'm only 11 minutes from the restaurant, they promised it will be there very soon. At 7:50 PM I call them again. Voicemail. Four more calls, all voicemail. I give up and start to make dinner myself as we are starving having waited so long. 8:06 PM the doorbell rings and I see a bag of food left on the porch as a car drives off. It took nearly three hours to get my food. Even after being promised they would send it right out after calling it took another hour to get it. They didn't even remake it either, just served us cold, dried out meat, and soggy vegetables with mushy hot salad. Two times in a row terrible. Shame on my for giving them a second chance I guess... Oh, and did I mention we are both sick this morning? I'll spare you the gory details but needless to say avoid this place. read more

Came in with high expectations of finding good Greek food on Cape Cod. Sadly, I would rank our meal as mediocre at best. The grilled octopus was tasty but tough - it should be much more tender especially considering how prominently it is promoted. Followed that with a gyro accompanied by a side Greek salad. The pork in the gyro was on the mushy side, and the gyro itself was pretty sparse - especially for $12. On top of that, the greens in the salad were sad and wilted. If our group had been 10 years older, I think our experience would have been different. I wanted to like it, but left quite conflicted. The decor was elegant, but the service didn't match the drapes. We were hoping to try somewhere our big Italian family wouldn't normally pick, so a reservation was made for the nine of us at Estia for a birthday dinner. When we arrived (early) for our 5 p.m. reservation, they were able to take us right away, as the place was empty. Over the course of the meal, it hit -- and I daresay, surpassed -- capacity, with every seat full. The demographic definitely leaned toward the Baby Boomer crowd. And for some reason, they had the game on at the bar (which was packed). Estia is small, so having the game on at the bar means that the game is on everywhere in the restaurant. While half of our group enjoyed that, the other half was not super thrilled. Our feelings on the food were all over the place. For apps, we tried the zucchini chips, the wings, and the calamari. For entrees, we tried the BBQ chicken pizza, the scallop pizza, the meat lovers pizza, the duck, the prime rib, the scallops, and the lamb souvlaki. The tzatziki sauce that came with the zucchini chips and souvlaki was phenomenal. However, the souvlaki itself had a watery runoff and was almost impossible to eat -- it's street food, not upscale dining. The duck was perfectly seasoned and cooked well, but the sides were lackluster. While some of the food was overly salty (the bread, the pizza), other items weren't salty enough (the risotto, the zucchini chips). The wings were terrific, falling off the bone, and well seasoned. Although the edges of the pizza were crispy to the point of chipping a tooth, the center was so soggy you couldn't lift a slice; and the bay scallops on the pizza were just not good. The BBQ chicken pizza was fantastic, but it came with chicken/onions on only half of it, and just swirls of BBQ sauce and cheese on the other half. We tried to ask our waitress about it but failed (because we couldn't find her for a while) and it was getting cold, so we just ate it. Truthfully, I have no clue what the deal was with our waitress. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she had too many tables, or maybe she didn't expect us to spend much. While she wasn't outright rude, she was never friendly -- and she treated every question or request like it was an imposition. She was either rushing us or abandoned us for long periods. Then while we were finishing up, another large party arrived and was clearly waiting for the table so we were trying to get food boxed up and get the check, but the restaurant was full so she kept disappearing and it took an exorbitantly long time. Generally, the service was just odd... And not the type of service we were expecting. Overall, it ended up being a mildly stressful dining experience, where no one left feeling satisfied. read more

I have been to Estia several times since it opened and the food and service have always been good. The pizza is wonderful, dare I say the best on the upper Cape! It's reminiscent of Pizzeria Regina, with a coal fired thin crust, flavorful sauce and gooey cheese. Yum! Souvlaki also gets high marks, especially with chicken or grilled fish. Make sure you try something with the heavenly tzatziki! Save room for dessert too. All are fabulous, but baklava is a must have: crispy filo dripping with honey and nuts, what's not to love? It's a fairly small restaurant, and now with summer coming, I have sadly resigned myself to mostly takeout until fall. It starts getting crowded after 6 pm and fills up very quickly. This is a great place for a dinner out with a group of friends, but not so much for an intimate date. The tables are packed in so it can get very noisy. The crowd tends to be a bit older so there's not much of a bar scene. Very baby boomer friendly! Parking can get tricky at busy Mashpee Commons, especially on weekends. The best time to get a table with no wait is for late lunch. The menu doesn't change between lunch and dinner. My only gripe: they use truffle oil on the French fries and it is not labeled on the menu. The first time I had a side of fries they had an off-putting dirty taste that made me think the potatoes had gone bad. I asked the waiter for a different side, and only then did he mention the truffle oil. Now I know to order the fries plain! read more
