Always love the patio and sangria! Got the breakfast pizza and it was delicious- will be back for it! Such a convenient place to enjoy the views and some good drinks.

Brunch flatbread
Emily A.

Visited 1/31/26. Full disclaimer, they were a bit busier on this day so it may have just been an "off-day." Stopped in for lunch during Mpls winter festival and I ordered the brunch flatbread. It was definitely a bummer and was missing the bacon but our server didn't check in so I just did without. The eggs are more of a hard boiled almost type texture which doesn't lend itself as well to a breakfast pizza and the potatoes felt a bit undercooked. Bummer but the location is still top notch!

I ate here for brunch one day on their patio at the recommendation of a local friend. I didn't have a reservation, but they were very kind and accommodating, even helping me find a spot in the shade. The patio is gorgeous, right on on the river with lots of trees. The interior is much more of a dark pub vibe, but fun in a different way. The service was a bit slow, with it taking a while to order, get soda refills, and get my bill, but the server was very kind and and helpful when he was around. He provided great recommendations and I ended up going with one of them--the brunch pizza. It was delicious, with a surprisingly strong lemon flavor that I enjoyed (though I couldn't figure out what it was coming from--the cheese? the green onions?). If I were local, I would come back.

Sangria Pitcher

Stopped by for happy hour around 5. Ordered brisket tacos, which were $4 each during this time, and a pitcher of sangria which was $30. The brisket tacos were really delicious and so was the sangria. I especially appreciated that it had a lot of fresh fruit in it! The ambience outside is really nice in the summer and the views of downtown are fantastic so definitely recommend sitting in the patio if possible. It does get busy after 5:30 or so!

TL; DR: Great patio and food Visited Aster Cafe on the Fourth of July and was able to get seated on the patio. We were able to get in right away with 8 people. They had a vibey guitarist playing for a little bit, so the experience felt very elevated with the live music. The Chicken Caesar Wrap was delicious and the Roasted Portobello Sandwich was good (tip: only order if you really like mushrooms). Their dirty martini was good, but nothing too special. Prices were great for the entertainment and eating outside. Location was great for walking around before and after as well.

Welcoming little cafe along the river side. Wanted to sit out on patio but it was closed due to rain. Inside is quaint welcoming cafe bar with well worn old school charm. Tables are close and friendly atmosphere. We were lucky to get a table without reservations. Waitresses were friendly and efficient. The food runners kept the food coming quickly. We really enjoyed our brunch and recommend the experience. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of my poached eggs. I really enjoy poached eggs and so I want them done correctly. I ordered eggs Benedict with salad and my poached eggs were overdone, cooked hard. See picture. I understand that a busy restaurant can make a mistake but I asked for my eggs to be redone and the new eggs arrived the same, hard cooked. Our friend arrived a little late and joined us, she ordered eggs Benedict with potatoes and her eggs arrived exactly done correctly, see picture. Why the cook couldn't get mine right I'm not sure, but this should not have happened when I asked for it to be corrected. It took away from having a great brunch to a mediocre one.

Met some friends here for a last minute patio drink & app and had a very nice time!! The patio space is gorgeous and is the perfect place to sit at night under the string lights with a drink and talk. The salad was also surprisingly good, very refreshing and good portion for sharing. We were able to get seated right away on a Saturday night as well!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Karisa L.

Visited Aster Cafe for my birthday they were super accommodating we brought a group of 12 people in. Our server was fantastic. We tried a lot of items off the menu. Some favorites were spinach artichoke dip, hummus platter and a shrimp bowl. Drinks: my favorite were a mule and an espresso martini. They also have live music very frequently, we didn't stay because it was a $20 cover. Would be a cute date spot with nice weather to walk along the river after dinner.

We went there for Blue Grass and High 48. The band was fantastic. The food was great as well. Had the Shakshuka. It had nothing to do with Blue Grass but was a delightful Meditarian/North African dish. My partners had more traditional brunch dishes. All were great. The brunch, drinks, and service were excellent. Note this is a loud venue, so I would not recommend it for a date event since you cannot talk to each other. Enjoy the music and food, and smile across the table.

My wife and I were downtown for an event, so we had dinner at the Aster Cafe. This was our first visit, but we were impressed. It's kind of a hipster place, but we felt welcomed (we are not hipsters!). We had planned on sitting outside at their very nice seating area, but it was exceptionally windy that evening. However, we were very happy with the indoor seating, which had a warm and welcoming ambiance. I took advantage of their Happy Hour pricing on the flatbreads. This was quite a deal, since the Happy Hour price is only $10 and the normal price for what I ordered was $18 -- almost half price. The flatbread I ordered was the "Apple/Bacon/Bleu" which had an excellent blue cheese, mozzarella, granny smith apples, bacon, and a balsamic reduction sauce. I was afraid it might not be be big enough for an entree, but it was HUGE and I could not even finish it. My wife also took advantage of the Happy Hour pricing by having a glass of the Sangria for $7, instead of $11. For an entree, she had the Smoked Beef Brisket Tacos ($16) which she liked very much. For dessert, we split the brownie with vanilla ice cream and Macadamia nuts. The brownie as chewie, but overly sweet and rich. I can understand why this is a popular place on St. Anthony Main.

Aster is one of my all time favorite spots in the city. Love the patio, casual vibe, overlooking the river and Stone Arch bridge. The food and drinks never disappoint. Best aperol spritz for sure. It's a perfect spot for any occasion - brunch, happy hour, date night. Bring friends or family and I guarantee all will enjoy :)

Forbidden "Emperor's Rice" Bowl

Aster is a decent spot in a fun location--nice for patio season in Minneapolis. In my opinion, the food is good: solid options but nothing life-changing. Service was a bit slow (our server eventually explained an oven broke during dinner rush). I got the Forbidden "Emperor's Rice" Salad, which was fresh, but I actually liked my friend's chicken curry bowl better.

This is my second time at Aster but my first time sitting inside. We stopped in before an event at the Main Cinema and this is such a great spot. It helped that it's connected to the cinema since it was so cold out. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and apps. I got the blueberry pie THC drink and it was soooo good. I believe it was from Dangerous Man. We also got the chips and queso which was more of a nacho cheese but so delicious with house made tortilla chips. Definitely spicier than I anticipated but not too spicy. My only critique is that it could come with more chips as we had plenty of queso leftover.

Especially the Bellecour restaurant, the desserts there are 1000x better than the days tasting old crap that is served here at SnS. The interior is gorgeous, however, the entire establishment is a 0/10. I would not recommend this place to anyone. What an embarrassment this place is serving bad food to patrons. I recommend spending money at Porzana, Bar La Grassa, Bellecour... anywhere but here. This place is a joke for food. So embarrassing!

The setting that made the experience always so special, before they move to their residency inside the Guthrie Theater under a new name. I cannot wait to see what they do next. Every dish truly hit it out of the park. From the Three Sisters salad with bison and squash to the fried quail and rich, earthy mushroom soup, each plate showcased Indigenous ingredients and traditions in a way that felt both thoughtful and exciting. This is not your typical dining experience and that's exactly what makes it so satisfying. Even the margarita was a standout: beautifully presented and just as delicious as it looked. I will definitely miss this riverfront location, but I am so excited for their next chapter.

This place totally lived up to the hype, in my opinion!…read more I got the maple pepita latte ($10), sweet potatoes ($18), bison skirt steak tacos ($55), and spoonbread ($15). The latte came garnished with rose petals and was not too sweet. It was a nice way to start my meal. Then came the sweet potatoes, and oh my God, I think they were the best sweet potatoes I've ever had. They were unbelievably, delectably sweet and cooked perfectly. They had an excellent char while being soft on the inside. And the sweetness was complemented nicely by the maple chili crisp, which had just a bit of a kick. The bison skirt steak tacos were also delicious. The bison was so tender and juicy. Full of flavor and cooked superbly. My server wasn't kidding when she said the tacos were big enough to share between a few people. I ate the tacos by myself, and I was beyond stuffed. Alas, I wasn't a big fan of the spoonbread. The flavor wasn't bad, but I didn't care for the texture, which was a little too coarse for me. The dessert was gluten-free, and I could REALLY tell. It was also too spicy for me. The spoonbread was drenched in hot honey. But the sweet potatoes, tacos, and attentive & friendly service more than made up for it. The restaurant isn't cheap (especially for a solo diner), but I've seen worse prices for worse food. And I'm eager to check out their new location the next time I'm in Minneapolis. Note - if you pay with a credit card, it does come with a 3% fee.

We were greeted at the entrance, jackets were taken, and drinks offered while we waited. The waiting space was small and a little awkward but it was fun to get serve right away with a friendly bartender. Seating is around the small, intimate bar where you observe the chefs preparing every dish for the night. The servers are shared so you don't get just one person for the night. We are not wine people, but I'd still recommend doing the wine pairings ,which is an extra add on. It was really fun to learn about the different wines and how they tasted with the plates. There is some down time in-between courses but nothing ever felt too long. It seemed like a perfect time to converse and enjoy watching the chefs do their thing. It took about 2.5hrs to finish our nine course meal. The courses were so tasty! I was a little nervous because of previous reviews but we really felt like every dish was put together nicely. We were so impressed with how intricate each dish was and how many ingredients came together. A favorite was the wagyu ribeye. Just so delicious. Yes, I wanted more, but it was about trying small plates and things you've never thought you'd try before. I was full and buzzed by the end of it. I also really appreciated getting the menu at the end of dinner. The whole time I was like what the heck did I just eat? Now, I can reflect on it even more. You are seated next to people but there was plenty of space where I didn't feel like my privacy was invaded. Everything about this experience felt intimate and well put together. There is a lot to say about this restaurant, and most of it is very good. The ambiance had perfect energy. It felt lively, but never loud or overwhelming. It struck a really nice balance for a special night out. You could comfortably enjoy the experience and conversation. The service was exceptional. Not just friendly, but incredibly knowledgeable. Every course and every pairing was explained in detail, and the staff clearly knew their craft. Service - they absolutely delivered. We chose The W.C. Whitney Menu. I had the Premium Wine Pairing, which was excellent and very well done. My wife chose the Temperance Pairing since she does not drink alcohol. This was one of the few disappointments of the evening. Many of the drinks were designed to mimic the taste of cocktails and wine, while my wife does not care for the taste of alcoholic drinks. When it came to the food, there was a range. Some dishes were truly outstanding and worthy of Demi's reputation. Some were good but not exactly great. And honestly, a few were mediocre. With a tasting menu, you expect some variation, but at this level and at this price, mediocre does not cut it. Here's what it really comes down to. I would rate the experience itself 5-stars. But the cost of the evening did not come close to matching what was delivered. I was not looking for, or expecting value! We spent over $700 for the evening. Demi is very good. The service is exceptional. The ambiance is awesome. Much of the food is outstanding. But in my opinion, the overall experience did not justify the extremely high cost.
