1st Visit: Great. Fast, easy and punctual. 2nd Visit: Front office did not verify eligibilty. Once I got to the office for my daughter's appointment I was then advised that I need a different insurance card physically. A simple phone call to let me know would have been nice. Instead, I get there and wait 20 minutes until they tell me that they can't see me. Then I have to reschedule for 3 weeks out. My daughter's shot schedule is now off. 3rd Visit: I've been here waiting over 45 minutes and still haven't been called back. I will NEVER return here again.

I can't say I was completely satiated with her consultation. That however is not the reason I will be changing doctor. The front desk receptionist is incredibly unprofessional and very lazy. From the first visit I could hear her speaking bad about other patients to someone there in the office. She has not followed through with anything that was discussed that day, (specialists referral, handicap referral for DMV). Even though I completed the paperwork and she said she would just call me once the doctor signed it so that I could pick it up. Not even 1 phone call to let me know why things haven't been completed or if there is anything on my part that needs to be done. Every time I call I feel like I am bothering her and she doesn't follow through with what we discuss. She expects the patient to do her job. For the last two days I have been calling the office during "office hours" and have not been able to get them to answer the phone. I have left messages and not received any calls back. This is completely unacceptable for a medical office with patients let alone elderly patients. Very unprofessional behavior and process of handling a medical office.

Trying to schedule an appt with their staff is the worst, they're rude and inconsiderate.read more

I am SO FRUSTRATED with this doctor. I've been his patient for 5 years now and I've only ever seen…read morehim in person twice, despite needing medical care several times. Apparently he doesn't see people in person unless it's "required." I saw him once in 2019 when he first became my doctor and I was pregnant and over 35, which required an in person apt before getting a referral to a specialist, and then again in early 2021 when two preexisting herniated discs in my back flared up and he had to see me before he could refer me to a new ortho. because my previous surgeon was on medical leave. Outside of that - pneumonia, bronchitis, Covid, mental health, whatever it was - he refused and continues to refuse to let me come into the office and would/will only do apts by phone. Earlier this year I'd been battling a cold I'd picked up from my 5 and 3 year old for several weeks and finally decided to call him to ask for antibiotics. He was so incredibly condescending, telling me that I was jumping onto the antibiotics bandwagon and that all I needed to do was toughen up and wait it out. Several more weeks went by and my coworkers had gotten tired of me continually spreading the bacteria around the office so I called Dr. Cheng again and begged him to prescribe me antibiotics - stressing that it'd been over two months and I wasn't getting better. I was gobsmacked when he aggressively came back with "don't lie to me" and "tell me the truth" several times while I answered his questions about mucous color, wet or dry cough, fatigue, etc. After that I gave up on him and went to urgent care, where I was treated with antibiotics for a bad case of bronchitis. His staff basically NEVER answers my phone calls. I get through maybe 10% of the time, generously. I've listened to the answering machine message probably 100 times but I cannot understand what she's telling me to do. It sounds like she's saying "please don't leave a message on this machine" but then doesn't tell me where to call or leave a message. I just end up leaving a message anyway because.... what else do I do... but it doesn't matter regardless because I don't get a call back. The number I have is 951-354-2500, which checks out with a google search, but just now when I dialed Dr. Cheng answered but scolded me, saying that this line was for emergencies only. When I said I needed to make an apt and asked where I should call, he ended up giving me this same number. I only realized this when I called it again and the same contact info in my phone popped up - only this time no one answered and I got the undecipherable answering message again. I've taken to going in to Urgent Care instead for the stupidest things - things I KNOW I should be going to my PCP for - because I can't get a hold of this office. Currently I've got a piece of bone from a previous fracture floating around in my freaking shin; it's been swollen and incredibly painful for 7 weeks now and I cannot get them on the phone. I only know it is a piece of bone because my boyfriend ended up making me go to urgent care to get an x-ray last week - but beyond that there's nothing they can do and I was told to follow up with my PCP for a referral. I've been calling every day for 10 days now with no success. I'm a 39 year old 90s latchkey kid. Going to the doctor is a foreign concept to me outside of broken bones or life threatening situations. Having to jump through hoops like this after finally conceding to the fact that I need medical attention is a surefire way to make me just give up with it altogether. It's easier to just deal with the pain or illness on my own and wait for it to get better or for me to adjust to it simply as part of my new normal. This is why he's still my PCP. But I think I'm finally done with him. As soon as enrollment opens and I can change my PCP I've got to jump on finding someone else that's taking new patients. Even if it takes a year to find someone I'll likely get in to see them before Dr. Cheng's office ever answers the phone.

Great doctor's office. Sandra is so kind and helpful in coordinating my referrals to specialists…read more Dr. Cheng cares too. I appreciate this office a lot because it's hard to find a doctor's office that takes their time to really make sure your health needs are being met.

I've read through the other reviews here and I think I have an alternative view everyone needs to…read moreunderstand: I was under terrific stress (job and family criminal matters) when I grew sick. I went from 113 on Dec. 13 to 69 pounds in late January. I lost weight so quickly, I was dying (not recently - a few years back). No idea why. I went to a naturopath. I couldn't afford them (did not accept insurance). I went to another doctor in Riverside (they took the proper tests but failed to score them so I received no diagnosis). I ended up in the ER with all my muscles cramping, not able to walk more than a few feet without falling because i was so weak, my hair inexplicable falling out, itchy losses of skin on my extremities but NO GI issues. Doctors in the ER couldn't or wouldn't diagnose me. I am a white girl so most assumed I was bulemic or anorexic and in end stages. But the weight was lost in a couple of months. That's not Bulemia or Anorexia. One doctor said he had never seen anything like my issue outside staving children in Africa. Doctor Chopra (who is an amazing diagnostician) finally diagnosed me as having Celiac Disease so severe that I could no longer absorb nutrients from food. He is no saint. His bedside manor is gruff, at best. But he could figure out an asymptomatic Celiac patient when no one else could. Not only that but he FOUGHT the insurance companies to get me on a PICC line/TPN when the others had given up on me as dead. Even Chopra wasn't sure I would live. But he FOUGHT for what I needed AGAINST the insurance companies who wanted to turn me down and let me die. Will he hold your hand bedside? Nope? Does he usually have a terrible staff and horrible wait times because they are ALL overworked? Yep. Most of this is because he CHOOSES TO TAKE the poor and those on Medi-Cal - unlike other specialists. So he is SWAMPED with all of us patients who can't afford to pay out of pocket. He chooses to do this knowing most of us can't make him rich. So, yeah, your experience with him might be less than ideal. But, if you really need a diagnostician or someone to fight the insurance companies and fight to keep you alive? This is the doctor you want. Shame on those who don't admit this.

During the call, she repeatedly asked for my name and basic information multiple times, even after I answered several times clearly. The conversation became very confusing, and instead of handling it professionally, she repeatedly said "oh my gosh," laughed during the call, and spoke to me in a rude tone. When she mentioned that my information was not on file, I explained that I was calling because I was a new patient. She responded by saying, "Well, you should've said that before." At that point, I expressed that I felt she was being rude and unprofessional and simply asked for the referral doctor's phone number instead. She then hung up on me. It's unfortunate that someone seeking medical help would be treated this way. Patients should be treated with patience, professionalism, and respect, especially during their first interaction with a medical office. Hanging up on a patient and making them feel mocked or dismissed is unacceptable.
