I've read through the other reviews here and I think I have an alternative view everyone needs to understand: I was under terrific stress (job and family criminal matters) when I grew sick. I went from 113 on Dec. 13 to 69 pounds in late January. I lost weight so quickly, I was dying (not recently - a few years back). No idea why. I went to a naturopath. I couldn't afford them (did not accept insurance). I went to another doctor in Riverside (they took the proper tests but failed to score them so I received no diagnosis). I ended up in the ER with all my muscles cramping, not able to walk more than a few feet without falling because i was so weak, my hair inexplicable falling out, itchy losses of skin on my extremities but NO GI issues. Doctors in the ER couldn't or wouldn't diagnose me. I am a white girl so most assumed I was bulemic or anorexic and in end stages. But the weight was lost in a couple of months. That's not Bulemia or Anorexia. One doctor said he had never seen anything like my issue outside staving children in Africa. Doctor Chopra (who is an amazing diagnostician) finally diagnosed me as having Celiac Disease so severe that I could no longer absorb nutrients from food. He is no saint. His bedside manor is gruff, at best. But he could figure out an asymptomatic Celiac patient when no one else could. Not only that but he FOUGHT the insurance companies to get me on a PICC line/TPN when the others had given up on me as dead. Even Chopra wasn't sure I would live. But he FOUGHT for what I needed AGAINST the insurance companies who wanted to turn me down and let me die. Will he hold your hand bedside? Nope? Does he usually have a terrible staff and horrible wait times because they are ALL overworked? Yep. Most of this is because he CHOOSES TO TAKE the poor and those on Medi-Cal - unlike other specialists. So he is SWAMPED with all of us patients who can't afford to pay out of pocket. He chooses to do this knowing most of us can't make him rich. So, yeah, your experience with him might be less than ideal. But, if you really need a diagnostician or someone to fight the insurance companies and fight to keep you alive? This is the doctor you want. Shame on those who don't admit this. read more

The wait here is horrible! Our first visit we waited nearly 3 hours to be seen! The staff is poorly managed, they do not communicate anything. They used the excuse of the doctor being late yet no one bother to communicate or check on a full room of patients waiting for hours. The staff is not helpful or very great. The doctor is great, he is a good Doctor knows what he is talking about and will tell you straight out what you need to know and do. read more

Terrible Dr. Long story, but I have it in my medical records showing his incompetence... 28 hours after having a procedure done and 24 hours after my attending Dr noted it, this fool writes that I was refusing to have it done. Which ended up making me discharge myself against medical advice and risk further potentially life-threatening issues... I couldn't trust him after I spent about 30 hours waiting on him and when asked if I could do it as an outpatient ($2k/day in the hospital and uninsured), he told me "that's not how it works"... Yet was totally content to make me wait around on him, because he didn't due his diligence and see that I had the requested procedure done. When I called to complain about this, he told me that he was merely restating events (because I refused to have the procedure done, until I found out the cost)... Yet, amusingly enough, no where his restating of events was that I had said procedure done. I find that a pretty convievent omission, considering his explanation of his notes. I've paid off all my bills except him, mostly because it took two months for him to give me that obviously dishonest answer to my complaint. read more

The office staff are not the most welcoming! Not enough seating and always a wait to be seen more than an hour after our appointment. When you need to make appointments you are looking at a month wait ! While here today an elderly person had there leg fall asleep due to long wait and when he got up almost fell over, he tried to balance himself on a near center table but that table was faulty and offered no assistance, the staff did nothing to aid him or even inquire if he was okay. We were referred here by an attending surgeon stating he is a great doctor, in my opinion he is not the greatest and his office is not ran professionally, ha no consideration for his patients. The elderly and people with certain illnesses should not be waiting for hours before they are seen. I would not refer him to anyone. read more

Why do they book so many people with the same appointment time! Wait time is unbelievable over 3 hours. No seats and no consideration for patients time! read more

This "Dr" and his staff are so rude! He has horrible bed side manners as well, not only will you wait SEVERAL HOURS to be seen in office and be told countless excuses....that too will be the situation on procedure day. I couldn't eat after midnight, had a 7AM check in and didn't end up going back for procedure to be done until almost 4PM & no, had nothing to eat and he gave not one fuck about me or the other patients! I can keep going on and on but just please, call insurance and ask to see a different Dr, this guy and his staff are a joke! He's got 4+ women in the office but yet you can't get through to not one single damn person over the phone, the voice mail box is ALWAYS FULL and or they do not return your calls! read more

At least 4 hours wait, small waiting room, not enough chairs to sit, poorly managed. He is one of those cheap mentality doctor that are good for nothing but having a certificate. Try to avoid coming here if you read it & want to value your time. read more

Love Doctor Chopra! He's one of the best gastroenterologist in the IE. Highly Recommend him.

In June, 2015, I waited 4 hours for a 15 minute colonoscopy performed by the surly Dr. Chopra. I don't mind a curt surgeon, but the doctor wasn't even at the hospital until an hour before the procedure. I could have saved myself, and my friend who drove me, several tedious hours of waiting in the prep room of the hospital if Dr Chopra or his staff had informed me of the delay. Not only that, but his staff called me half an hour before my 3:00 p.m. check-in to repeat my arrival time and required preparation. The hospital staff was kind and sympathetic, embarrassed for the doctor's poor performance. They said he was always hours late. I called the doctor to complain the following week, sending a message that I'd never consider entering his "care" again, and why, but I did not even get the courtesy of a reply. This gastroenterologist is negligent in patient care and consideration. The Board of Internal Medicine website reports his certification in 1987, but indicates he has no record of MOC, maintenance of certification training. That certainly doesn't surprise me. Even as a Medical patient, who has paid for my medical insurance and health care my entire life up until last year, I think I deserved better treatment than this. read more

This Doctor gave me the worst experience I've ever had with a supposed professional. I purposely chose an early appointment, 9:30. I was waiting almost three hours before the Dr spent five minutes with me. He said he had a hospital emergency but never bothered to tell the twenty or so patients in the lobby. When I had my procedure, the Dr never spoke to me. The results were given to my wife while I was in recovery. I wouldn't recommend Dr Chopra to anyone. read more

Our appointment was scheduled for 6 o'clock on a Thursday night. The waiting room was completely full so we waited in the hall until there was a seat. An older gentleman finally stood up after we'd been waiting for over an hour , and asked when we were going to be called back into rooms? Another person said the doctor wasn't there. She had been waiting since 330 it was 7 o'clock by now. The receptionist finally admitted the doctor was not there but he was on his way. After waiting for about another hour more than half of the waiting room got up and left. We waited and we're seen and left at 8:45pm! Who does this ?! When I told him that my dad had dementia and I would be helping him answer questions. he laughed and looked at his chart, and said " he's only 69? !" I said yes he has it from a stroke that he had at the age of 62. He started asking my dad questions such as; what year are we in? What month are we in? Who's the president? How long have you lived where you live right now? My dad did not know the answer to most of the questions. my dads had hung in shame. He was embarrassed , degraded because this man all of a sudden thought he we a neurologist ! Wtf? I was so traumatized ! I should've got up and left. But my dad had recently been diagnosed with throat cancer and was in desperate need of a stomach tube because he couldn't eat. So I bit my tongue and made it through the appointment. I was told I would be called the next morning and he marked 'urgent' on the file. A week went by of me leaving messages and I never heard from the office. When I called back and said I wanted to speak to an office manager they then suddenly made my dad's appointment.! Wow imagine that !? When we got to the surgery center at 8 AM we waited 3 1/2 hours before we were called back into preop. We waited until noon before the doctor took him back. The doctor did not show up until 11:30 AM! Why have your patients wake up and show up at 8 AM if you're not going to be there for 3 1/2 -4 hours!? We didn't leave there until after 2 o'clock. He did not have any of the going home orders that we needed. He wanted my dad to fast for another day. When he had already been fasting for 24 hours! He does not know what he's doing! I beg of anyone reading this --do not go to this doctor!!!! He thinks he is God himself. He talks to people in a degrading manner. Even the nurse facility who came out to our house were disgusted with how he spoke to them. Please do not go to him . read more

First off, this office does not have the best customer service. We've been here 2 times now and are waiting again for 2 hours. TOTAL BS! As a courtesy, the staff should advise all their incoming patients what the status is with the doctor's schedule...if your running behind or if there was an emergency at the hospital THEN TELL US!! And to boot the office doesn't even answer the phone or return calls in a timely manner. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE! read more

My father-in-law asked me if I would take him to his Dr. appt at 530pm because he needed someone to drive him home afterwards. I figured it would be a couple of hours no big deal. boy was I wrong.....Dr. Chopra had 5 people scheduled for procedures. 1st was at 4pm, 2nd was at 430pm, 3rd 500pm, 4th 530pm and 5th 600pm.....I know this because I spent 4 hours so far in the waiting room listening to the others complaining.....Chopra did not even show up until 600pm. the Person that had an appt at 4pm just left the office at 9:05pm. Had this sorry excuse for a dr. been here at 400pm, the 1st patient would have been finished by 7pm....now, it is 945pm and my father-in-law still has not even had his procedure started. this is terrible!!!!! read more

This doctor is not committed to stick to his schedule. My mother as an inpatient has been waiting for her procedure by Chopra since Tuesday. They have her on only iv fluids diet as a pre-op procedure. It is now Friday and doctor has been no call no show. This is considered neglect and this doctor needs to have his license revoked. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

My wife went here to get a procedure done some endoscopic thing where they use scope to look into your stomach, That was a month ago still she has no results and every time she calls they don't answer, Are rude or simply don't return the call, The Dr. here was very rude with her as well as his staff please don't go here we are still trying to get the results heaven forbid it be something serious? They gave her photos and no answer to them only to leave her worrying and stressing over the procedure and its results a scary time indeed, But it si totally unprofessional and they need to get it together or shut it down this place is not where you want to go EVER!!! read more

Horrible Doctor. He has no regard for his patients time and welfare. He doesn't listen to their concerns. He just spends 2 minutes going over your chart and only suggests unnecessary procedures. Run don't walk from this horrible doctor! read more

If you don't have all day to wait, don't bother to come. Average wait is 4-5hrs. To see a dumbass, just Google everything yourself. If you are dying go to ER, and don't bother complain nothing will happen to this place. Oh one more thing, Check make sure they have your paper work ready, if not, you just wasted 4-5hrs again.. Anyway good luck.. read more

This doctor really literally has no manners. sick people mean absolutely nothing to him. He's always upset when he walks into the exam rooms. He shouldn't be a doctor. read more

This Doctor does not even deserve 1 star. Besides being late, his bedside manners are horrible. A doctor should be caring and have compassion for the sick. He's far from that, he's totally in the wrong field. read more
