spicy salted sample of two

We still love this place for take out. Consistent quality- i know what i am going to get when i order it. They did make one mistake this time : instead of sample of 3 items for spicy salty combo , we got combo of two ... oh well but i still miss my shrimp :)

Orange chicken, pork fried rice, crab Rangoon, hot and sour soup

I stopped in with my wife last night to grab a little bit of take out. The woman at the front was super welcoming. The man in the back, joyously singing, entertained us during our quick wait for the food to be cooked. We don't order this type of Chinese food often as it tends to be so hit or miss, usually falling into the "miss" category. The food we had last night was great. The fried rice was not greasy or overly salty, and tasted very fresh. The Orange chicken was tangy from the good amount of orange peel and actually had a decent spice level from the big red chilies used. My wife loves hot and sour soup, but it's usually bland or just sour and full of thickener. This soup was full of white and wood ear mushrooms, bean curd, and flavor. The obligatory crab Rangoons had a very generous amount of filling, and you could actually see what was inside instead of just being cream cheese. Quite simply: we've decided to get food here more often. We want to try some of the less "american" Chinese food as well, since that's more up our alley. We'll be back soon either way, because the food is fresh and good, and the hospitality is welcoming.

We ordered delivery here and they forgot one of our items. We called and they drove it out to us within 40 minutes which was fantastic. Overall food was just average. saving grace of this place was that you get a lot for a cheap price. All this for less than $15. Food came hot and it had a good amount of sauce on it. Steak came super chewy and dry in the lo mein

Roast Pork Fried Rice Orange Flavored Chicken Hot and Sour Soup Crab Rangoon

This place deserves at least a 4.3 or higher rating. The host at the front was kind and friendly. The food came out fast, and I could tell it was not pre-cooked. The fried rice was not salty or greasy, and I could taste smokiness. Crab rangoon was so warm and crispy, with huge fillings. I could taste an actual orange flavor with a bit of pepper spice from the orange beef. I was surprised at how good their hot and sour soup was. It was the best hot and sour soup for the price! It was not starchy at all! I am going to order from this place frequently!

Lo mein combo with pork fried rice, shrimp lo mein, and chicken wing

I got to-go and overall, it's fine Asian Taste will not be a premier Chinese takeout, or even a solid Asian-Chinese restaraunt. But it does do a good job of providing large portions. The pork fried rice is underwhelming. It lacked flavor and could benefit from having something else to go with it The lo mein was salty but still good. The chicken wing doesn't really add much other than another salty flavor as it lacks crunch or tenderness While there isn't much to give a lower rating, I'm certain there are pretty plaves to go get Asian food

Was craving for my shrimp & some Crispy Noodles last night... Keeping in mind I would run to Kowloon when I wanted Crispy Noodles, because I never knew I could get them anywhere else... So I was reading over the menu at home (I never do that)... Saw they had Pan fried Noodle & Thought... Hmmm... Thats what they are called at Kowloon... So we ordered the Veggies Noodles, Ginger & Scallion Shrimp & Scallops & My Spicy Salted Shrimp... OMG... Asian Taste has just become the best place in the world... Crispy Noodles somewhere other than Kowloon... my heart skips a beat right here... The Ginger, Scallion plate was DELISH.. I just dont love the Scallop (other than fried or broiled - somthing about me & certain fish the way its cooked)... My Shrimp was cooked PERFECTLY... I was ready to devour all of it, but wanted so desperately to have leftovers for lunch today & that I have... Im soo excited to eat it again today... Asian Taste was a 4 star for me before that (and if you know me I DONT give out 5 stars) and they totally earned their 5 stars now... Definitely a MUST TRY!!!

Good prices and nice service. Place is a bit run down. Amazing crab rangoons. Good for a Saturday night movie night and chill at home.

**November 2025: Saturday Night Visit**…read more My friend and I had been driving all day and were staying at the Hyatt Medford Hotel just down the street. The Medford/Boston area seemed to all have limited parking so we were looking for a dinner option that didn't require us to drive since we were sick of circling around. Matsuba Izakaya was just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel so we we braved the cold for some delicious food. When we arrived at the restaurant we were escorted toward the back of the restaurant which was very warm and inviting. I ordered the mini omakase for $55 and was super impressed with the presentation and variety of seafood. I was presented a box of 9 different seafood offerings: uni, toro, salmon belly, fish liver, raw shrimp & fried shrimp head tempura, scallops. yellowtail, and squid. The uni and toro were fantastic, and I enjoyed everything else except for the salmon belly. For some reason the salmon belly wasn't ultra creamy - maybe it wasn't thawed enough, which is a shame because I love salmon sashimi. Nevertheless, for the presentation and price I was really impressed with the variety. It also came with a miso soup which really warmed me up quickly.

Matsuba is probably one of two Japanese restaurants that is located in Medford. If I had to compare the two, I prefer Matsuba over its rival. Customer service and more importantly, quality of food is better at Matsuba over the neighboring Yoki Japanese Restaurant & Bar. Customer service was top notch when I visited for dinner with my family. The sushi was very fresh. I do regret not trying their yakitori since it is an izakaya. When we visited, we ordered monkfish liver, agadasi tofu, Naruto, katsu curry, broiled yellow tail collar, salmon ikura don, and fried tempura. See my pictures.

Everything here is really good, but I highly recommend the nigiri - while it's a little pricy (standard pricing comparative to other restaurants), it is well worth it Service is quite fast and we felt like we were taken care of. One time, the server took the soy sauce bottle away from one table without warning and gave it to us, and then proceeded to do the same to us. However, in this rare case, the food quality and taste overpowered the service issues. Inside is lively, and cozy. They also have outdoor patio seating in the summer, which is lovely as well. This is a restaurant I wouldn't mind coming to over and over again.

It looked pretty run down and like the owner didn't care to give too much attention to the space. If you're looking for an authentic omakase restaurant, this isn't it. Respectfully, I realized they learned their craft locally, rather than in Japan or from a Japanese sushi chef. From experience, I personally prefer the contrary because it does in fact taste different. Most of their fish are not sourced from Japan, but locally. Whenever served miso soup as the first course, I immediately know this will not be the experience I was hoping for. All the fish courses were more on the tangy side and it didn't seem to pair well with the fish. The best thing I had was probably the dessert, which was a matcha panna cotta. The service provided by one of the sushi chefs was excellent though. I don't remember his name, but it was the Chinese guy. I'm very expressive when I eat, even when I try to be discreet, it unfortunately shows on my face. He was very attentive and I believe he noticed I didn't enjoy the first few courses and over the 2 hours of our reservation, he tried to keep me as satisfied as possible by giving me more of what I did like. The 3 stars is because of him, or else I'd be giving it 1 if based solely on the food and ambiance. I guess for the price, you get what you pay for. 18 courses for $168-$178/pp is pretty decent considering most omakase restaurants are $250+. Still, I don't think it's worth it because my partner and I left feeling nauseous and hungry still (which is pretty normal for us lol). Unfortunately, taste wise, this is at the bottom of my list of "omakase" restaurants but service wise, it's good. So tread carefully if you're expecting an authentic experience/omakase.
