We came here during a trip to Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns. I was craving Asian food and was excited to see that Luray had a restaurant that served a variety of Asian cuisine. They have Japanese, Thai and Chinese cuisine. My husband got the chicken Yakisoba and I got the Japanese curry chicken katsu. Both were amazing!! The chicken katsu was 10/10 and the Japanese curry was definitely authentic. Service was quick since we were there five minutes before they officially opened. The ladies there were very nice and food came out quickly. They have indoor seating but a much more spacious outdoor area. This was a surprisingly great spot for our visit to Luray! Not a lot of seating (maybe 4 tables inside and a few outside) but we got our food to go so it didn't matter to us. Potstickers were crunchy and tasty, the Pad Thai was flavorful but more sesame flavored than peanut (still yummy), red curry was better than a lot of places I've had it. Asian Station is a small, family-owned restaurant with only about eight tables inside -- cozy and quaint. The ladies who greeted and served us were very sweet. We ordered the wasabi dumplings as an appetizer, along with the drunken noodles and crispy chicken for our main dishes. Unfortunately, our server forgot our dumplings, so we never got to try them. When I ordered the drunken noodles, I wasn't asked about a spice level, and they came out extremely spicy -- even for someone who enjoys heat, my lips were on fire! I had to buy a cold bottled water from the fridge (since the tap water served doesn't come with ice) just to cool my mouth down. Most places I've ordered drunken noodles inquire as to the spice level. That said, the noodles themselves were prepared well -- lots of fresh veggies and scallions on top, and the flavors were otherwise very good. I just wish I had been given the option to choose a spice level, because it really overpowered an otherwise well-made dish. read more

I don't give many 5 star reviews however Asian Station is just excellent! My friends and I were visiting Shenandoah for a weekend and stopped here. Menu with plenty of options but not overwhelming. We had the gyoza which were crunchy and flavorful, Thai green curry was perfectly spicy and rich, and the drunken noodles were somehow even better than the other two with amazing balanced basil flavor and perfectly chewy noodles. Ate too quickly for pictures The hosts were very friendly and kind enough to seat us about 40 minutes before closing time without rushing us and food was hot and fresh. Decor inside is fun, unique, it's a cozy place. Great to find some of my favorite Thai food in this small Virginia town! Will use any excuse to return !! read more

I was so excited to see more diverse cuisines pop up in a Luray, Va. the locals are too! This location has very particular hours. Please make sure you check on FB ahead of time to make sure you don't show up in vain. Let's start with the pros: -self serve sauce station (very important) -plenty outdoor seating options -little marketplace to buy some traditional Thai snacks -sushi was handmade to order Cons: -rotating menu and limited menu otherwise -meals took a while to be prepared -short staffed -small indoor establishment -costly for the area When we went the special was a curry rice noodle option. They had salmon, chicken, veggie. I tried the salmon. The salmon was very fishy. The meal was packed with flavor but it was a little underwhelming somehow. The appetizers were very good. The boba was also very well done. The sushi was the highlight. Maybe this is best for a small lunch versus a big meal. Not a miss for Luray, but I anticipate some tweaks needing to happen to keep locals spending money here. read more

The Birth of a Station After arriving in Luray and checking into our AirBnB, we asked the most important question of the day: "What's for supper?" After a cursory Yelp search, we saw nothing in the Luray dining scene except for "Bar & Grills" with nothing inspiring on the menu beyond the usual Sysco® specials--if you catch my meaning. However, on the way to the AirBnB, we did see one restaurant that caught our eye: Asian Station. There were no reviews on Yelp, but some positive ones on the Googles, but it didn't exactly leave us drooling in anticipation. Once we found out the owners are actual Asians (Thai, to be exact), we decided wtf let's take one for the team and check it out. I mean, someone's got to, right? The Good: *Housed in a former bakery, the location really catches one's eye and has a really cute, modern décor that stands out from the typical Main St. brick-and-mortar buildings. *Dog-friendly outdoor seating *Great selection of beers on-tap, including Asian brews and local brewery stuff, as well. *Prices aren't bad, and you get a decent amount of food with it. *Vegetarian options (basically tofu) *Wasabi Dumplings might've been the surprise of the night, as they had a nice Wasabi aftertaste, but it didn't overpower the pork. Even Carissa enjoyed them, and she's not much of a wasabi fan. *They have rotating daily specials, so every day you go is a surprise! *On our day, they had "Korean BBQ" Orange or General Tso's sauce to go with one's protein of choice: tofu, chicken, shrimp, or salmon. I have to say I was very impressed as the orange sauce wasn't too sweet, and they packed a decent amount of heat in with it. Fwiw the "Korean" portion was they add housemade Kimchi to the mix and it worked! *They serve up house miso soup, and it was actually pretty good. Better than some legit Japanese sushi houses. The Meh: *Ordered a few sushi rolls, and they were not bad. Maybe one or two steps above grocery store sushi, which is pretty decent. The Ugly: *Parking situation is sorta strange, as there's a gravel lot behind them, but it's pretty small and fills up fast. I saw several folks park on the street, but it seems too narrow for that. We ended up parking in the lot behind the fire station, and that seems like the best option. TLDR: Maybe it's the low expectations or just the vacation high, but the food overall was really good, and I'd give them a solid 4.5* overall with an FTR round-up to 5*. read more

I was in town for a hike and decided to stop here the night before. It was overall a solid experience. The food was okay, I had the drunken noodles. They were pretty spicy but also flavorful. The noodles were a little thinner than others that I've had and it was loaded with vegetables. We also ordered spring rolls which I liked the most out of all the food. We had to wait about 45 mins for our food, but they did let us know beforehand. There were some games to play while we were waiting which was nice. Overall, I would say this place was pretty good but nothing special. Would go here again if I was in the area and wanted asian food. read more

We passed by this place multiple times and found it intriguing so we decided to come today for some appetizers. I started with a delicious Thai tea and hubby tried a few beers. The place is small, but cutely decorated. We were greeted by Will, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. We settled on the wasabi dumplings and the boom boom dynamite with shrimp. The wasabi dumplings came out first and were piping hot. It had a yummy sauce with it too. They were delicious. Next came the boom boom shrimp and they were so good. Will brought us a spice tray so we could spice it up even more. We did and make it extra spicy and it was delicious. Everything looked so good on the menu too and we want to eat everything. I want to share my experience so no one else ends up as sick as my family did. We visited Luray, VA for a weekend getaway to celebrate my dad's birthday. On Saturday evening we chose this restaurant because the overall rating looked good. Unfortunately, we later realized many of the "good" reviews appear fake and I truly wish we had read the actual negative reviews first. I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai, and the moment it arrived I noticed a very strong fishy smell. I had a bad feeling about it, but since it was my dad's birthday, I didn't want to make a scene or send the food back. That was my mistake, I should have trusted my instincts. That night, both my mom and sister became extremely sick. My sister even vomited. I felt fine at first and assumed maybe my stomach was stronger. I was wrong. The next morning, from about 10 AM to 10 PM, I had severe liquid diarrhea every 10-20 minutes no exaggeration. It felt like my body was completely flushing itself out. I have never experienced food poisoning this intense. This is now my second day being sick, and symptoms are still ongoing. I feel weak, winded, and dehydrated to the point where I'm considering going to the hospital. Based on the smell, the taste, and how quickly all three of us got sick, I strongly believe the shrimp was spoiled or improperly handled. This is not safe for anyone. And based on other reviews and how the owner responds to them it seems like they refuse to take accountability. I am seriously considering reporting this restaurant because serving old or spoiled seafood is dangerous and can seriously harm someone. After visiting Luray Caverns and hiking in Shenandoah, my friends had worked up quite an appetite and were excited to try a local Asian restaurant. Unfortunately, I wish we had skipped this one. I ordered the Pad See Ew and a miso soup. The Pad See Ew came with completely different noodles (these were more like Pad Thai noodles than rice noodles served with Pad See Ew). Additionally, the dish was COVERED in black pepper, which seemed really odd for Thai food. Pad See Ew that I've had traditionally is in a very flavorful, sweet soy sauce, but this was just oil and pepper flavored. The staff was kind, but the miso soup was never given to me (although I wasn't paid for it). However, the ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, although nothing in the decor would suggest I was eating at an Asian restaurant. That being said, I probably would not return and if I did, I'd avoid the Thai section of the menu. read more

It's such a bummer because the ratings would suggest that this was a great place to eat. I gave an extra star than what I would normally because 1- we received a small refund and 2- they were at the end of the day. (Mind you we were there an hour before closing). But we were charged for a shrimp red curry when we ordered the tofu and asked for no tofu but extra broccoli instead. The extra broccoli was $2.50 even though it was replacing the tofu. When it was done, there was no broccoli. They said they ran out, then she threw it away and asked what else I wanted. So I just ordered something different at that point, which had almost no flavor. I also ordered a cucumber avocado roll which clearly wasn't freshly made because the rice had a crust on it. We also grabbed a jar that we thought was chili oil and it was Mexican hot sauce which is so weird. But maybe some people like that... the problem was it had mold in it. When we brought it to their attention, it was shrugged off. After several minutes of explaining and arguing about the issue as well as the overcharges, we got $10 back and then were promptly locked out. read more
