This is apparently a chain. The location in this college town stands out from other offerings in the region. They have both a bubble tea and crepe operation as well as a separate poke bowl stand in the same room. I chose a rice crepe with chocolate and banana filling. I was a bit disappointed in that when I've had these crepes elsewhere, there were often all sorts of distinctive and creative combinations, but in this case it was really just chocolate and banana. My Son is a massive Boboa fan and while we're next door ordering a Boboa tea he stated he was hungry and wanted to try J-Petal. As we are passing through on our way back to NY, I was of the opinion that these crepe sandwiches would not be road food. Boy was I correct. These are better eaten at a table. For me the sweet crepe was too sweet and made an odd paring with the savory steak option. Perhaps if the crepe was not so sweet it would have been a petter combo. But,I can see where the sweet crepe would make a good match with one of the dessert options. It was super expensive for what it was - a great heaping of rice and then skimping on salmon. I was expecting more for our buck. Tastier salmon, maybe? More umami and melded flavors? It had a lot of mangoes in it - but they weren't very ripe. We had to endure a lot of fibrous chewing to get to the soft rice and salmon. Nothing to write home about. Excellent staff and owner was outstanding in hospitality. WIDE selection and incredibly comfortable amenities including couches and a swing bench. We have been to MANY poke places and this place stands toe to toe with the best of them. My ONLY request is that they get Fresh Jalapeño as they only had pickled jalapeno and my wife hates pickled lol. 10/10 on all fronts. Look at my picture, I ordered the beef/steak in my bowl!! As a precursor, we just moved to the area from Waco, TX, which also has a JPetal that we LOVE. So when we saw one over here we were very excited. However, we have ordered here 3 times and have been very disappointed for several reasons. 1. Twice both my husband and I have only gotten 1 of our 2 sauces on our bowls. 2. While it's never been busy and we order online ahead of time, our bowls have come out late or last time they admitted to straight forgetting about them even though no one else was in the restaurant. 3. I always have gotten the tofu bowl due to food allergies (the one in Waco comes with avocado as well for more protein than this one offers) but they have straight ruined the tofu. It looks like they fry it, cut off the fried part and serve the fried skin as an extra topping that you can request separately, and then you're left with tofu that has an absolutely terrible texture to eat in a bowl, similar to silken tofu. Because this was our absolute favorite restaurant in Waco we tried giving this place a fair shake, but find the bowls pricey and subpar. There's a poke place right next to this JPetal that we plan to try instead next time. We don't plan to return here after 3 very disappointing visits. read more

The kids made their own bowls. I cannot stress how fresh their ingredients are. My crepe had spinach, egg, cheddar, avocado, lettuce, and this wonderful flavorful sauce. My husband loved his too. I was in Harrisonburg for work and I ordered a burrito to go for my drive home. Every other sushi-burrito I've ever had at other places used a sheet of nori for the wrap, but here it's wrapped in a flour tortilla, which is a bit weird. My burrito had too much rice and minimal fish--I got a spicy tuna and salmon. The topping selection was good, and I added seaweed salad, edamame, and carrots. They were out of ponzu sauce, which was disappointing since they had just opened 20 minutes before I arrived. I started eating the burrito as I was pulling out of the parking lot. The salmon was room temperature, which made me worry about food safety. I paid just under $17 including tip, which is a fair enough price, though they were stingy with the small amount of fish that was in the burrito. It tasted good overall, but I don't think I'll be going back even though I'm in Harrisonburg frequently for work. Service was very slow even though I was the only customer. read more

Would give this place zero stars if i could, i got the poke bowl and it took forever, the guy preparing it went to the back for what seemed forever to just grab utensils even though it was in the middle of the day. The employee didn't use different utensils to grab the different fish and cross contaminated every ingredient. Didn't even grab a new utensil for the vegetable toppings from the fish! No wiping off the utensil to serve it or anything, I was astounded! I was worried about getting food poisoning the whole time eating the meal. But for $15 im going to be eating it! The staff here are very attentive and friendly as well, super informative about each item on the menu if you have any questions. I mostly come here for the drinks, specifically, the Yakult drink, however. Yakult is a liquid probiotic yogurt that they use to make the best beverage ever. Sounds kinda weird, but trust me. There are different flavors for the Yakult drink, such as strawberry and passionfruit, but my favorite drink of all time is the lemon Yakult. I can't even describe how yummy and refreshing it is. Everyone I've introduced this drink to has loved it, so check it out! Another go-to drink of mine is the strawberry fruit tea. I've been here so many times that the nice owner recognizes me and guesses on whether I'll order the lemon or strawberry drink lol. Other notable drinks include the Thai tea and the milkshakes. The taro slush was very sweet but super refreshing especially with the lychee. The crepe was also delicious and had strawberry, banana, apple, and caramel which paired perfectly with the green tea ice cream. The Thai tea rolled ice cream was also super yummy and different, it wasn't too sweet but the toppings complimented the ice cream perfectly. Found this place by accident as I was getting my after-dinner usual dessert: bubble tea. There were a lot of things that impressed me about this place. First is that they were very patient with us as we took a good 5 minutes at the counter to decide what to get, because all the descriptions sounded so yummy! They walked us through a bunch of recommendations and didn't try to rush us. From talking to them, seems like they are a mom and pop business and I love to support small businesses. I love J-Petal! Its in a convenient location for students, the staff is really nice, they do a lot of fundraisers with school clubs and its always a big help for the club! They have great crepes, ice cream, and drinks! Their lunch special is so good that I intend to come to J-Petal once a week haha.
