We were in luray this weekend, and my craving was pretty strong! My husband recalled this restaurant that he used to frequent a lot as a child with a buffet. The restaurant no longer has a buffet or any kind of indoor seating, but still offers all of the classic Chinese food for pick up. I always like to order a smorgasbord of my favorite items : general tso chicken, beef and broccoli, lo mein (shrimp), and wonton soup. I was pleasantly surprised that they still do lunch specials during the weekend! This is always a no go in Northern Virginia. Each entrée came with a side of rice (fried rice was the go to, which is also usually an up charge in northern Virginia so I definitely appreciated that however I prefer steamed rice so just make sure you mention that and they're happy to substitute) and an eggroll. The eggrolls were definitely fried to order and super delicious and greasy. They do not offer beverages so just make sure you have beverages handy. The only thing I could possibly comment on is that they have a very smart business model and typically a lunch special would include a small container of the entrée only, with rice in the box on the side. However, they combine the entrée and the rice in the same container so in reality, you don't get very much entrée in the lunch special. I'm sure the dinner special is different. The food was really enjoyable, the beef and broccoli was the best and I would say our least favorite was the general sauce chicken it was very salty and the meat was not very plentiful. I also don't think it was white meat.

There was ONE person acting as greeter, order taker, server, and cashier. Her energy was amazing. The menu was typical which was OK because we had our favorites and already knew what we wanted. The food was fresh and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable.The building is unassuming from the outside and the interior is relaxed and informal. As one person said, "It ain't fancy but it's GOOD!"

The order window had glass in front of it (probably from Covid days). The young person behind the glass was speaking thru the microphone, they took my order. I was told 10 minutes, so I made some calls while I waited. When I got back to my hotel room I had my sweet & sour chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was superb! The sweet & sour chicken was ok. The pieces of chicken were stringy and unedible .The rice was fine. $11 for this was a bummer.

I had to buy a cold bottled water from the fridge (since the tap water served doesn't come with ice) just to cool my mouth down. Most places I've ordered drunken noodles inquire as to the spice level.
