We had dinner there last week and were very pleased with the food. We ate in the restaurant and the staff were very nice and attentive. The food is pretty good but overall average. The kung pao and Mongolian beef were good. The fried rice I could have done without. I'd have been happier with just steamed rice. The wonton was ok but a bit hard. The egg roll just average. The restaurant seating is layout out pretty poorly due to the constraints of the building. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. If you aren't interested in driving another mile or two then this place is good enough. It also pretty reasonably priced. If a friend of mine who eats there often because it's closer to his house than mine and doesn't want to drive another mile to get to my closer (and better) Chinese restaurant wants to meet for lunch I wouldn't say no. read more

We got carry out. I thought it was just ok Chinese. Be it that we're from Chicago, we have high quality Chinese there. It just seems like places outside Chicago just don't do Chinese justice. I had the shrimp fried rice and an order of tempura shrimp. The fried rice had good sized shrimp in it. There was a good amount of shrimp in the dish too. The flavor was descent but nothing to write home about. The shrimp tempura was like Long John Silver's fried shrimp and seemed pretty course of action coating for tempura. Not light and flakey like it should be. It's passable for Chinese and I'd get it again. I've had way better. read more

New ownership, and what a highly noticeable improvement! Ordered some Lo mein and Moo goo gai pan to go this evening. Love that the non-noodle dish came with a large serving of steamed white rice. I asked for bok choi to be added to the Lo mein, understanding there would be an up-charge, but once home disappointed to find they used Napa cabbage instead. Not sure if they don't know the difference- but anyway. A minor annoyance. These dishes were prepared so well! The moo goo gai pan was very tender, the sauce delicate and vegetables cooked to perfection- tender but not overcooked. Seasoned perfectly. Not too much or too little of anything. Simply delicious. Same for the Lo mein. We were both impressed by the quality of the meals which was a huge improvement from the prior owner. Just wish the white rice was sticky and not Uncle Ben's type to keep things authentic. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. read more

I tried the food after new ownership tonight. It's better. The friend rice was fine. Could use a little more flavor, maybe garlic and ginger. The chow mein was good. I added extra veggies. Egg rolls were fine. I asked about the pot sticker but they do not make them in house, so I passed. The General Tao's was not so great. It had too much breading on the chicken and the sauce was just average. Previously I considered the food there unbeatable. This time I plan to try more items. I would plan to do take out. General Tsao's chicken was more breading than chicken, egg rolls weren't great, pot stickers were fried so they were tough and the egg foo young was a disaster (no meat or veggies in it anymore, they seemed like egg and binder deep fried, shaped more like meat balls, with everything on top of it). First time customer. Ordered General Tso's Chicken for take out. The meal was oustanding. Plenty of chicken. The quanity was much more than 3 other places around this area, and also plenty of white rice, again more than any other Chinese place around this area. What I really liked was being able to see them obtain the white rice hot from the large holding container right behind the counter. I have been to plenty of Chinese restraunts, 2 very close by, and neither one was as good as Asian Grill, and the same for a couple of other places north of Riggs by a couple miles between Dobson & Gilbert Roads. We discovered this little gem today returning from the Gym during our visit to the Sun Lakes community. We had their Lemon Chicken and Beef & Broccoli Lunch Specials. The starter Egg Drop soup was thick and flavorful with peas and carrots and both entrees, fried rice, & egg roll were delicious. Reasonable prices, friendly and welcoming staff, perfect portion sizes, and a nice, quiet place to eat. That definitely makes this little local Restaurant a place worth trying out. read more

Support local neighborhood cafés and restaurants. This is a Friendly local grill. Delicious flavors. The manager up front is quick and professional, courteous and efficient. While the family whips up FRESH and authentic flavors from the back of the kitchen. I recommend the Kung Pao chicken , curry chicken, and the shrimp fried rice is EXCELLENT! Low oil taste, with a classic flavor that is able to shine through. There's an ample amount of bean sprouts. although it takes a bit longer than other entrees, the Egg Foo Young is definitely one of the best in the valley. I always come to this place and they have amazing food but I accidentally got the lunch special where I specifically asked for the sweet and sour sauce on the side and they gave it to me with my food . I wasn't upset I thought they made a mistake instead they just told me I would have order an entree instead of apologizing and saying we can discount it from the regular price they just apologized and insisted I buy an entree. We decided to try Asian Grill again a few months ago. It used to be our "go to" Asian restaurant but we gave it a break for two years after experiencing a pesticide or chemical taste in the food a few times in a row (might have been whatever they were cleaning their pans or utensils with). On the positive side: no more pesticide taste in the food. On the negative side: we used to get dinner plus a lunch out of the dinner portion. Now the dinner portions have been cut way back and are more like a large lunch portion. Ok, I can accept that. Portion size is on par with many Asian restaurants. Here is what is disappointing and while I will revert back to Moon China in Ocotillo. The thing I like best about Asian Grill was that their Jumbo Shrimp really featured Jumbo shrimp always. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a shrimp dish and the shrimp were maybe a medium. This week, I ordered and they were very snail, many the size of bay shrimp or barely larger. The menu still says "Jumbo" for every shrimp dish. I took pictures this time. The shrimp both times tasted like frozen, pre-cooked shrimp that was re-warmed. The texture was like shrimp that has been cooked twice. It was nearly flavorless. One had the big black vein (poop sack) in it. I did not eat that one. In the past, it tastes sweet and fresh. I wonder if the owners sold to someone who is cutting back on portion size and quality? Or if a manager cane aboard that made those changes? In any case, I won't be back -- at least not for shrimp if at all. I hope they see this and revert to how they used to be and maybe we'll go back. Photos attached. read more

We used to order from this restaurant frequently however in the last 2 years the quality food and the cleanliness of this location has decidedly declined. It is to the point now that I absolutely refuse to even enter this building. It is a disgustingly dirty location and I can't begin to even think of eating anything that come out of that kitchen. read more

It used to be fabulous and one of my favorite Asian restaurants for takeout. They are always very fast and portions are decent.

I love the food here. Been a regular for 10 years. Today, tried calling in my order for 1/2 hour, no answer. Drove over, walked up to counter, Asian woman was assisting customer picking up. Waited, waited, not even an acknowledgement of my existence. I'm hard to miss at 6'2 and 280 lbs, with a shaved head! After watching the counter women put the lid on an order, and studiosly ignore me for 5 minutes more, I said" if you're not going to take my order, I will go somewhere else. One of the 2 said, thank you, and I left. Called in order to Chen's. Will advise later on how that goes. read more

First time getting food from this restaurant. I ordered four different lunch specials. Let me begin by saying that ordering over the phone was easy and accurate! The lady that took my order was very good and took the time to repeat my order to ensure that it was correct -thank you! When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order the two ladies at the front were in the final stages of putting the order together. Let me tell you that these ladies could not have been any more pleasant!! So nice to support local businesses with people that really try to make customers happy. As far as the food goes it was unfortunately a little bit of a mixed bag. All lunch specials came with a spring roll, a pork wonton, rice, and soup. I thought all of the portions were actually on the small side - I'm not looking to overeat, but if you get a special here I hope you're not too hungry! We got hot and sour soup with each special and the soup was very good - a reasonable thickness and a good amount of tofu and other items. The rice with each dish was ok, but certainly nothing special. The spring rolls were just ok - a bit on the small side, not especially flavorful, and it seemed like they were short on the fillings. I'm honestly not sure how the pork wontons could even be called wontons - I've never ever seen a wonton with so little filling. As for the actual main dishes themselves- here's the rundown. 1) Kung Pao chicken - very good, would order it again, 2) beef and broccoli- very good, nice and fresh, 3) chicken Lo Mein- best dish by far!! Really a great dish. Incredibly fresh and bright flavors, certainly would order this dish again, 4) sweet and sour pork - just ok, pork pieces were very small, seemed a bit over-fried, don't think I would order this dish again. So would I return to this restaurant? - probably. To be fair to them, I'd like to see if a dinner order results in a more reasonable portion size. We ordered Moo Shu Pork, Egg Rolls and Chicken Fried Rice. 2nd time I've ordered the Moo Shu Pork with same result - no pork to speak of and very little black mushroom. Mainly cabbage carrots and onions.I called to say how disappointed we were and would rather them raise their prices and give proper allowance on ingrediants. Threw away their menu, done, done, done. They did offer to make another order but said that is how they prepare it. We declined on remake. And the egg rolls were also a big disappointment, vegetable mush inside. read more

Lately dinner portion is the same size as lunch, minus the soup, rice and spring roll. Except they charge you more, because it's supposed to be the dinner portion. Ordered appetizers and soup to go for lunch today. Egg drop soup was good, as always. Pork egg rolls literally had nothing in them. This service is poor. First time wanting to try it and they aren't even open when they say on their website and when you call. I made a pick up order for 11:40am since they said they are open at 11am. I get to the restaurant and their doors are locked. Their closed sign shows for 12pm. I waited 10 min after 12 and they are still closed. Their sign says open at 11am on Wednesday and it is Wednesday. Worst service ever! read more

Perfect example of a group of people so desperate for Chinese food that they actually eat here and rate this place above a 1 star. REALLY PEOPLE?!?!? Explore the world some and learn what good Chinese food is. The place is filthy. From the floors to the seats to the tables to the doors to the walls. You are welcomed with the over powering smell of what the...is that the smell of food poisoning??? There is grease in the air. This place is just nasty. The crab puffs were nasty and they serve you the dipping sauces in a plastic container for one person yet you have 6 puffs to share with 4 people. They have no alternatives to soda other than water. No milk. No juice. They apparently ran out of ice tea....WHAT THE???? Tea is 90% of your business. Let's see they also served the appetizers after the entrees and by the time I got the plastic cups of sauce the puffs were cold. The meat was animal grade quality grizzle and fat in the beef. Chicken was hacked up with tendons and ligaments. Steamed veggies were steamed to goo. Fried meats were soggy. The only thing that was good was the water...perhaps it was the slight taste of tap water chlorine that made it refreshing...it certainly was the cleanest thing in this restaurant. Was craving Chinese and relied on Yelp to point me here. A bit out of the way, but I figured I'd give it a shot. It's not like I have many great Chinese options nearby. Looks like most of their traffic was take-out and delivery, place was empty on a Saturday night. It's a walk in, place your order at the counter and we'll bring it out when it's ready kind of restaurant. Won Ton soup was good, as were the egg roll, crab rangoon and pot stickers. I'd rate them as average, nothing more but definitely not less. Main dishes were honey chicken (son had them leave out the spice), Teriyaki Chicken (daughter wanted this with dark meat), Mongolian beef and Kung Pao chicken and shrimp. I know the kids didn't really order Chinese, but they liked their meals and I thought they tasted fine for what they were. Kung Pao was good and the Mongolian was ok. A bit black peppery and sweet moreso than spicy. Price was ok for what we ordered off the dinner menu and we did leave with leftovers. All-in-all this was a Yelper disappointment for me as the place was rated as if it were a great place and it was merely ok. If I happened to be in the area I'd do lunch. If I lived nearby and wanted to order out, would do so. But won't specifically head here. read more

I discovered this place years ago and came back finally for some take out. The food is still as awesome as when I started coming here! Yay. I ordered the General Tso chicken and it comes with white rice. Portions are generous and pricing is reasonable ($8.50 ish before tax). The lunch specials are awesome here too! Quick place for lunch at reasonable price. We started with won ton soup, an extra .50 to the lunch special. It was tasteless but included fresh veggies which I liked. My chicken was spicy but not too spicy. Loved the white meat and sauce. My husband's special beef was breaded, like they ordered from Cisco and microwaved and then put a sauce on top. The food and customer service is absolutely, 100% horrible. My friend took me here, I didn't even pay and I still regret going there. The place is super tiny and the bathroom was a hot mess (literally) must of been at least 95 degrees in there. Not sure how they got 4stars cuz a lot of the reviews are 1 star. I read some of the "4stars reviews" and they all look like fake accounts. Someone is trying to hide the truth. Do not waste your time/money. There are better places. read more

Food was good and definitely old school. (Orange chicken as well as sweet and sour pork were heavily battered and deep fried.) Much better than our other neighborhood Chinese restaurants, with possible exception of Panda Express.
