Apps were the Chinese long beans which very good and the avocado ragoon. They were crispy and tasty. The inside was a golden yellow which seemed a bit confusing for avocado but it still tasted great. Hidden in the Parking lot space behind Shaq's Chicken spot is a small strip of shops. A book store, smoothie place, and my favorite Clever Koi. Our family has very different tastes when we move from one member to the next. So finding places that we all like gets tricky. Clever Koi makes that easy because we honestly have yet to run into something we don't like. Let's start with our favorite starter. The steamed buns (giggity). The pork belly is hands down phenomenal. An amazing bite that literally makes you want more and more. The lazy fries are just that, again pork belly is included, but that garlic aioli is what drives this dish. The tai salad is obviously classic. The short rib dumplings literally make you close your eyes and just say "Mmmmmm". My middle child is the hardest pallet to please at any restaurant as he only eats certain things, but the Chicken Katsu sandwich here is his second favorite chicken sandwich in all this world. The first time he ate it he spent the whole ride home raving about it. Mind you, we live in San Tan, so not a short ride. The shaking beef is always good. It has this firey kick that brings the heat upfront but does not linger. You cannot forget about the fried rice here. Rice is one of my weaknesses in life second only to pizza. Fried rice ranks right up there with my top favorite ways to eat rice and this ranks right up there with my favorite fried rice places. The main reason we come here is because of the noodles. Ramen, ramen, ramen. When you think of Ramen, I assure you this is what you are thinking of. The broth is oh so savory and reigns in the fresh veggies and proteins to meld them with the noodles for a flavor punch each time you have a mouthful. They have great drinks here as well, or so I've been told by the other adults I come here with. I always just get a sake and Sapporo so... LOL The service is always good here and we somehow always manage to miss the lunch or dinner rush which is awesome. All in all... this is by far my favorite dining spot in downtown Gilbert. The first time I tried it with the miso soup base and the second time, I got the tom yum spicy soup base. The miso was very light and almost bland, to be honest. I didn't love it. The tom yum spicy, which was recommended by the staff, had more flavor. It was much better. However, I tried my husband's sichuan spicy and liked that more. If and when we return, I will definitely get the sichuan spicy base. The seafood mini hot pot for one at $25.95 has plenty of seafood in it. There's a crab leg, mussels, clams, calamari, and more. I have yet to finish an entire hot pot in one sitting. The restaurant has a large dining room and offers plenty of seating. Service was fast and friendly at both visits.

There were no prices on the menu, but the total without tip was $48. My lobster burger was divine--chunks of tempura lobster, perfectly, cooked. I'm not going to guess what was in either sauce but they were both excellent and made the dish. Fries were solid. Downsides, it was about a 30 minute wait, which was clearly communicated. We got there about 5 minutes after open and there was a small line. There's probably strategy to make it go faster--get there at open or 30 to 45 minutes after. Food seemed to come out fast after the initial rush. Also, i would have liked ketchup as an option for the fries.

Ahdana, the owner, clearly took pride in the sauce and offered me a sample. I was gearing up to politely say it's not for me but I actually loved it! I would buy a bottle to have at home if I could. (hint: need this in stores!) I got the shrimp taco and the bulgogi taco. The shrimp taco was my favorite! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and there was plenty of it. The tempura had a great crunch and the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. It's definitely on my top tacos list and I'll be popping by whenever I can. I'm already craving it again!

A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked.
