Parking: 6.5/10, multiple businesses in this plaza so the parking lot fills up quickly but we were able to find a parking spot relatively quickly. Noise level: LOUD, would not recommend for kids/families Food: 7/10 (me) I had the 1/2 chicken with broccolini and Parmesan truffle fries. All the food seemed to be lukewarm but especially the broccolini, they were borderline cold. The fries were a bit salty. Everything had good flavor just needed to be hotter, or brought out while it was still hot. 6/10 (date) he had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He said the meatloaf was a little dry but the mashed potatoes were good. His broccolini was also cold but flavorful. One interesting thing that was shared was every month they choose a region of the world and showcase their food. Overall not the greatest first impression (other than the ambiance) but I would be willing to give them another try because atleast the flavor was there. read more

The fried calamari, cream of crab soup and seafood gumbo were amazing. And the icing on the cake was the pumpkin pie with the lemon custard topping, oh and the whipped cream of course. The ambiance is awesome! Food is fresh, menu is creative! I had the salmon Benedict & my friend had the pancakes banana foster-style. Hers was good but the turkey links came out cold for some reason. The Salmon Benedict came with a choice of home fries or Gouda grits - so I chose the later. They were good, but I'm more used to a more yellow cheese in my grits, if they have to be cheesy. Server was on point, food came out quickly, just down know why the links would be cold (my friend didn't want to complain). I wanted to try Ashling Kitchen again. On our last visit, the food was really good but we left with a sour taste having to pay 75% of the price of a drink sent back because the bartender made it wrong. Anyhoo, let's talk about this visit. We visited on a Friday night at 730. Surprisingly it was a light crowd. Different bartender so no problem with our cocktails this time. The calamari and crab dip appetizers were plentiful and very good. Delivered hot. There's a reason I mention the food temperature....stay tuned. Our server was new and we could tell. We were forgiving in this area as he is learning, but he disappeared after we got our meals. We needed things so had to ask someone else. The real disappointment this go around was with the entrees. The presentation was beautiful - Meatloaf and Jamaican Jerk Chicken. BUT the food was lukewarm, and we're talking closer to the luke than the warm. And taste wise it was just ok. Not terrible but nothing special. We were disappointed in that. So still 3 stars for me. p.s. The manager was really good. Talked to us as we were getting up to leave and asked about our experience. We told him about our server but again we were understanding that he was new. We didn't mention the food temperature. He asked if there was anything he could do for us to make up for the lack of attentiveness, but we declined letting him know we could tell he was new and just offered feedback for improvement because everybody has a first day at some point. Service was excellent as well as ambiance. We decided to come here for the first time (party of 2) on a Friday night. No reservation. Walked in and immediately seated, although majority of the restaurant was full. The food What we liked -- wings (ordered the old bay), Cobb salad (huge), calamari (loved it!), Jasmine cocktail (tasty and presented very well), apple cobbler/vanilla ice cream. What fell more on the dislike side -- Sangria (not sure what wine was used but it was more bitter than a sweet red), fish and chips (wanted to love this but it fell short due to too much batter and zero seasoning). We did not taste anything from the "Around the World" menu but very intrigued by it. Would like to try next time depending on the cuisine. I've been to Ledos in the same shopping center many times and honestly never noticed Ashling. Glad we "found it". read more

The pandemic has caused many of us to lower our expectations when it comes to dining out. Supply chain shortages lead to conspicuous modifications to many of the dishes we've come to know and love. Staffing shortages have led to overworked, grossly underpaid, in some cases under trained and in most cases completely frustrated front and back of the house staff... Who sometimes turn into rude and unpleasant customer facing staff. It seems like in many cases we are paying more to get less... And the less we get is often of a much lower quality than we are used to. In short it has become a chore to dine out. I can say definitively that I have not had what I consider a "good meal" since COVID. That all changed during my first visit to this restaurant. I experienced some challenges ordering online. After the third or fourth time I tried to place my order online, I ended up calling the restaurant. Even though they have a policy where they don't take orders over the phone, the hostess, Kaitlin, was nice enough to make an exception.... Especially since I was just about at the deadline to place to-go orders. I was right down the street and pulled into the curbside pickup space. I hadn't even had the opportunity to call and let them know that I arrived, when one of the staff members proactively walked out, confirmed my order, took my payment, and made sure to have my ice cream scooped and brought out to me just before I pulled off so that it would not melt (and I'm happy to report that it survived the 35 minute trip home intact). Now let's talk about this food. I really cannot tell you all the last time I've had anything that was this good. I mean, everything I ordered was fantastic! Here's what I tried: -Heirloom roasted beet and goat cheese salad -Steak poutine -Rasta pasta -White chocolate banana Bread pudding -Quebecer poutine -Jamaican jerk chicken -Side of smoked Gouda cheese grits Honestly, I would go back just for the salad. I hate grapefruit, but it blended so beautifully with the rest salad. And the orange vinaigrette dressing was out of this world! It was a generous portion and everything was so fresh. Absolutely delicious. Both poutines were really good. I would have preferred my steak cooked medium, and the gravy had just a pinch too much salt, but they were still fantastic! The jerk chicken was absolutely delicious. I would happily put it up against what I order at my favorite Jamaican restaurant. It might have deviated a little bit in terms of authenticity, but the flavor was undeniable... Right down to the rice and the sauce. The Rasta Pasta was easily large enough for two people to share comfortably. It was a little bit spicy, the chicken was flavorful, the pasta was cooked al dente... It could have used a pinch more salt in the sauce, but otherwise it was amazing! The smoked gouda and jalapeno cheese grits were out of this world. Easily the best grits I've ever had. And that white chocolate banana bread pudding.... Oh. My. Goodness. I was hooked the moment it touched my tongue. It wasn't mushy like some bread puddings are; it was nice and firm, but also had this chewy and delightful texture. The banana flavor was a pleasant surprise because when I initially tasted it, it tasted exactly like banana pudding... With the texture of bread pudding. Absolutely out of this world! I normally don't eat bread pudding unless it has raisins in it, but I would gladly make an exception here. I can easily say that this was the best bread pudding I've ever had. I've been meaning to try this place for awhile! I had a coworker recommend this place so we had to try it. It's a bit of noisy atmosphere but the service and food are good! I like decor because it gives the restaurant a cozy feel. I had the fried green tomatoes and crab cake sandwich. I really liked the fried green tomatoes but the crab cake sandwich was okay. We were seated almost as soon as we walked in at 6:30 although the place was crowded on the Friday evening. Food was decent. Calamari was really good. Broccoli grill was not that great. I ordered vegan burger with sweet potato fries and found it pretty good. My wife ordered fish and chips....and that was well, without much flavor! Overall, we liked it. This is one of those "hidden gems" that I've been meaning to write a review on for some time. This was my third visit to Ashling over the past year. Each time, the food and drink are consistently high quality, delicious, and flavorful. The calamari is a staple anytime I visit. Yesterday, I devoured two perfectly crafted raspberry Bellinis. I'll be going back for one (or three more) of those. My boyfriend and I said we plan to Lyft or Uber the next time we visit so we can truly enjoy the drink menu. Atmosphere: Inviting, friendly, medium noise, surrounded by the theme of music. This spot is owned by a catering company that caters to the stars. Service/Staff: Attentive, friendly, fast and caring service. We had Robert as our service, he just might run you the wrong way when you first meet him But Be patient it won't take you long to warm up to him and he is quick and remembers everything. You'll see him and observe him and figure him out quick. He's a good waiter and can recite the entire Coming to America movie by heart...try him. Cleanliness: very clean everywhere that does include the bathrooms. Food: Most Importantly: it's very good, not the best I've ever had of anything they serve but the food is prepared well, flavored right, and comes out at the right temperature every time. My only complaint here is they brought out appetizers without serving utensils but once we brought it to their attention they immediately and quickly fixed it, and the kids meal came out last after six adults were served. This is BAD, you just take care of the little ones first. And in my opinion give kids free drinks. Overall it's a very good place. I plan on going back and trying something new. Seriously forgot I was in a strip mall the moment I walked in. This place was a hidden gem for me. I'm suckered for ambiance & Ashling definitely passed the vibe check. I went for the first time for Brunch on a Sunday in a group of three. And we were all pleasantly surprised. The staff greeted us with the smile, and our server addressed us like we were life long friends. We all ordered entrees, split an appetizer & dessert, a mocktail, and a mimosa, and the bill came up to less than $100. The portions were good. I ordered the banana foster French toast which was delicious if you like sugar. The Buffalo Cauliflower was *chefs kiss*.... perfectly crisp, and the sauce comes on the side as to not soggy the "wings". We ended by sharing the Banana Bread Pudding, & it did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back to check out the happy hour, the bar looked top tier. Ashling is like the perfect mix between your local comfort spot, and your favorite posh spot. read more

I was alerted to Ashling's Kitchen through a check-in from a favorite Yelp friend, Lita B., thank you Lita. So stopped in to check them out. Upon arrival the hostess opened the door to greet us; nice touch. The restaurant is split into two sections, the bar area to the left and the dinning room to the right. There is a walled off private room in the back. The menu has an African-Cuisine flair and there is something for all tastes. We had the Irish Whiskey-Glazed Salmon and the English Pot Roast. The Whiskey salmon was excellent and was served with broccoli and cauliflower mix and I requested the creamy pea parmesan risotto. Risotto had great flavor but was a bit dry, possible the parmesan was the cause, and the veggies were cold. The pot roast was a good 2" thick slab of meat. Large and looked good. Only drawback was the thick fat cap left on the top. Some might like the fat cap being left on while others might find it unusual and takes away from the look of the food. Doesn't matter to me so long as the roast and gravy taste good. And it was good! My only compliant is the noise level. IT WAS LOUD and the restaurant was only 1/2 full. Most of the decibels were coming from the two tables in the bar. Ashling's could use some sound baffles in the ceiling. read more

5 stars for the amazing food and service - overall we had a great time celebrating my friends birthday here. The casual, clean, covid-safe ambiance is great. At first glance I would not expect this great experience judging from the outside of the shopping center. I was expecting a larger, stand-alone location but Ashling definitely shows out upon entry. We were promptly welcomed and the birthday menu was a nice touch for my friend. Our server Daniel was attentive and made wonderful recommendations for us. The bar is a decent size and I was able to see a variety of drinks being ordered from the view of my table. I decided to try the Ashling and the old fashioned was made well. My friend had the Jasmine cocktail and Lola lemonade and enjoyed both. We started with the Ashling Naked Wings and tried their mango rum sauce and sweet ginger chili sauce - both are good. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts but my friend was not a fan because they were tossed with the same sweet ginger chili sauce - I didn't mind it. It was different to have such a sweet sauce when I usually get them roasted or with some sort of fish sauce and maybe parmesan cheese. The truffle fries were amazing with the right hint of parmesan and truffle, definitely the stand out appetizer for us. As for entrees, I thoroughly enjoyed the Irish Whiskey Glazed Salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the parmesan risotto was flavorful and definitely complimentary to the salmon. The veggies were seasoned well and delicious. My friend had the Southern Style Seafood Gumbo and could not stop raving about the amount of seafood and veggies. It was a hearty, flavorful base and she appreciated the boldness of the gumbo. Extra points for the chef coming out to speak with all the guests. He was kind and fun to chat with and share our appreciation for the good food. For dessert, I was not a fan of the key lime pie. It was entirely too sour and the raspberry sorbet was somewhat melted and running into my slice. It looked like a sloppy, small cut as well, but presentation aside, the flavor wasn't to my liking to make me want to try it again. I've had their Smith Island Cake from their food truck in the past which was pretty good (preferably the original over the Oreo - best served chilled). She had the birthday ice cream and Smith Island cake which was enjoyed. I look forward to coming back and enjoying more of the specialties here at Ashling. I don't know why we've never come here. It's not like Crofton is a long drive. Very unassuming from the front. Wedged in a small shopping center. FYI parking can be tight. Only taking reservations at the moment. So promptly seated. They do check temps and other covid things. Jeff was our server and was awesome! On it with drinks and meal advice. Drinks: hubby had the goose island and I had the cucumber and lemonade cocktails. The cucumber is probably my favorite. Could easily get toasted on that one. Very fresh but not overly veggie is flavor. App: fried green tomatoes were huge and tasty. It's one of my markers for a good meal. If you can do this right you are good. And they did. Crispy tomatoes. Gooey pimento cheese. Dinner: Irish whiskey glazed salmon for me and southern burger for the hubby. I had every intention of saving him a bite then I had a bite and that went out the window. Sweet fancy Moses. And the risotto was creamy perfection. Hubby powered thru his burger. Walked into Ashlings Kitchen at 12pm with my husband and granddaughter. The restaurant had just opened so it was empty and we were seated immediately as we were ordering our drinks and appetizers other patrons started coming in. They have TVs at the bar so of course college football was playing. We were given food and drink menu's. I thought it was brunch but I was told they only serve brunch on Sunday's, I was a little dissappointed but I got over it quickly. I ordered a cranberry mimosa, crab and artichoke dip and fried cauliflower to start. The mimosa was really good the perfect blend of champagne and cranberry juice. The fried cauliflower was seasoned well and still had a nice crunch to it, they were fried a light golden brown and served with buffalo sauce and remoulade sauce. For my main dish I had the fish and chips and for my drink I ordered a raspberry bellini. The raspberry bellini was good very refreshing. When my plate came out I was like wow it reminded me of the fish and chips I had in London. It was a huge piece of haddock fried beautifully and seasoned to perfection. The chips were really good. It was also served with a side of coleslaw which was pretty good also. While looking at the menu I noticed they have taco Tuesday's and wing and whiskey Wednesday's. I will definately return for brunch and both specialty nights so lookout for my reviews. If you are in the crofton area any day or night check this place out you will not be dissappointed. read more

I recently visited Ashling Kitchen for its 5th Birthday. I was promptly greeted by the hostess. The restaurant was decorated for a birthday party, with #5 balloons all over the place. I took my seat at the bar and checked out the birthday specials. I ended up ordering old bay chicken wings and crab dip. The chicken was seasoned well and the ranch. Tasted like someone was back in the kitchen mixing up mayo, sour cream, dill and whatever else goes in homemade ranch. The dip came out nice, hot and bubbly. Food Truck visits from July, September, October, November 2020: The first visit to their restaurant (within weeks of opening) didn't go so well. I vowed not to return for a long time. I'm elated to say I gave their food truck a chance, and I'm glad I did! This is what we've ordered from them: - Chicken Quesadilla (chicken, cheese, peppers, onions) with lettuce and sour cream: Quesadillas were pretty full. It was a little heavy on the peppers and onions for my taste but they were soft and tasted good with the chicken and cheese. The lettuce was fresh. - Chicken Tender Basket with fries and honey mustard dip: One of my favorites from them. The chicken tenders are a decent size. They're crispy and juicy (a must!) and have a great taste to them. The fries were good and tasted even better dipped in honey mustard. - Philly Cheese Steak with fries: This is my dad's favorite. He even went as far to say it's his favorite steak and cheese in the area. That is a huge compliment coming from him. The steak is high quality and flavorful. He also enjoyed the fries. - Greek Chicken Pita: The pita was toasted perfectly. There were 4 huge chunks of chicken and onion and tomatoes on top. It had the right amount of tzatziki sauce. Another one of my favorites. - Breakfast Burrito (scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, sausage, potato hash, cheddar cheese) with ranchero sauce on top and fixings on the side: There is no way you'll be hungry after eating this bad boy! This burrito is huge. It's stuffed with eggs, bacon, sausage, potato, and cheese... what's not to like? It was really good. The ranchero has a bit of a kick to it. - Potato Hash: SO. DANG. GOOD! Honestly, what fried potato isn't? But they crisp them up perfectly. I have to stop myself from shoveling them in mouth. - Ashling's Breakfast Sandwich (scrambled eggs, sausage, potato hash, cheddar cheese, toasted English muffin) with potato hash: My dad really loved this sandwich. Instead of bacon, my dad asked for sausage. They halved two sausages and stuck them on the sandwich. The English muffin was fresh and soft. Everything was cooked perfectly. The sandwich was pretty big, so he only ate half that day. He thought the potato hash was excellent as well. Overall, I am very happy to report how much we enjoyed their food truck. I'm happy (and so are my taste buds) that we gave them another chance. This makes me hopeful to go back to their restaurant. I believe their menu has changed a bit, so I'm curious to see what they're offering. read more

A must go for the DMV. The location is tucked into a small strip mall in Crofton, just north of Bowie which is probably a lower rent compared to a Laurel or Annapolis. However, the place s always packed and the staff and food are phenomenal. The international portion of the menu changes every week, but the main menu has it's staples and are the go-to's. The restaurant is large enough to have private party in the rea and still have plenty of room in the main dining area and plenty of high chairs at and around the bar. read more

We ate at Ashling kitchen and Bar on Friday night. Our server was lovely - very attentive. The food was delicious! I had the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and carrots and my husband had the rockfish imperial which he really enjoyed! The food was very well prepared- very fresh! For dessert we had a delicious apple cobbler! Amazing! What a way to finish off a meal. We have been to Ashling a handful of times and have never had a bad meal. They always do a fabulous job in the kitchen. One small complaint- though we know it is not on the fault of the restaurant. A family of six was sitting near us. One of the children had his tablet on and the volume was very loud. It was very disruptive to our meal The parents did nothing to turn the volume down. We asked our server if she could talk to the mom. Our server spoke to the server of that table and returned back to us and said that table was getting ready to leave. 20 minutes later that table was still there and very loud tablet was still going. in comparison there was another family of six next to us and the two girls were watching something on their phones. We did not hear their volume at all. Parents need to learn how to parent and/or restaurant managers or someone need to enforce a policy regarding electronics at the table. We will return to Ashling but if this situation occurs again..we will be upset if nothing is done to fix it read more

Okay, the vibe and atmosphere is great! The food? I didn't care for it. I got the crab dip, fries, and blackened shrimp tacos. The crab dip was good, extra extra creamy, I never had crab dip so creamy before. The tacos, were not good. Very basic, not enough sauce, the toppings were skimp, and above all... The tortilla shell was rubby and tough. The fries were below average, no seasoning, crunchy/dried out. My brother got salmon blt and said it was "okay", not good just okay. We got banana bread pudding we didn't like that and also got the brownie sundae. The brownie didn't even fill the whole pan and it was $10! I know I won't be returning. We came here Sunday after Church. Much to our surprise it was amazing. The atmosphere was very quaint. The inside was very nice and romantic if that's what you are looking for. The owner she stopped by our table and greeted us she was Supper nice. I had the Pink Velvet pancakes (we went in October) we had the Old Bay Naked Wings and Southern Chicken Sandwich. The food was really really delicious. We Also went back another time for Dinner which was also very good. This will definitely be a regular spot. I had the moqueca (Brazilian fish stew) that was amazing, and had a lot more seafood mussels and shrimp than I would have thought (pleasant surprise). I had been waiting for the perfect time to visit the Ashling restaurant for brunch and it didn't dissapoint. Love the ambiance, had an evening feel to it because of the warmth, but it works. Service was very polite and friendly. Food was large servings, well presented and delicious. The servings as you can see in my picture really are shareable sizes, so order with that in mind especially when ordering the pancakes or french toast. The coffee was okay, I expected better and more options for cream including non dairy options, but it was basic coffee, no premium offerings such as lattes, cappuccino and the like. I think adding some premium coffee would really round this off. Overall, an enjoyable fun time and I would go back. If you love brunch, a must visit for you! read more

Delish they serve this with hand cut potato frites. The garlic sauce was superb! I ordered seafood risotto w/ scallops and shrimp. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection! The portion size was enough for lunch/dinner the next day. Service 5 out of 5. Friendly staff. Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. She made great suggestions. Ambiance 5 out of 5. I must admit I wasn't expecting much with a shopping center restaurant, BUT what a PLEASANT SURPRISE to walk in to such a nicely decorated ambiance!!! Love it! Ashling is a nice elevated dining experience. It's local to me, which is a plus, not having to travel far. Check them out. I love it it here. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to write a review based on the amount of times that I eat at and order from this restaurant. I eat here a lot! This restaurant is located in a shopping station located right off of Route 3. Plenty of parking in the shopping center. The restaurant is not the biggest restaurant - but I wouldn't necessarily describe it as small either. Every time I've been, the staff has been friendly and attentive - I've never had an issue. Usually I order the Jerk Pasta with Chicken add Shrimp. Words cannot describe how good that pasta is. I have introduced MULTIPLE friends to that pasta and now they ask me all the time the next time we're going back. That Pasta really is a 10/10. My fiancé likes the Southern Chicken Sandwich fried! It gets it every time we come to the restaurant/door dash the restaurant. I haven't tried the sandwich myself but the way he describes it let's me know it's as amazing as everything else they have! I've also had multiple different appetizers and happy hour specials - but my favorite for those are probably the roasted Brussels sprouts and the crab & artichoke dip! I've also been for brunch, and their brunch food is just as good!! The portions are HUGE, and everyone I went to brunch with ended up talking some food home with them! I can't speak to the restaurant, as we got takeout from the truck when it came to our neighborhood. My daughter picked up the food and said it was quick and easy. As someone else mentioned, the tacos (in this case, lamb) were nestled into a recyclable container just made for tacos. The two other dishes - Cuban panini with fries, and crab pretzel - were in plastic squares that are sturdy enough to reuse. They will be washed and added to our motley collection for leftovers. There were certainly no leftovers today! Between DD, SIL and I, we polished off that food in no time. The lamb tacos were amazing; stuffed with tender, flavorful chunks of meat, tzatziki, feta and a bit of lettuce: perfection. The pretzel was soft and chewy, and the slightly spicy crab and cheese melt over top was so ooey-gooey yummy! The fries were like steak fries, hefty and well-seasoned, slightly crispy on the outside and just soft enough on the inside. And the panini was delish! I'm a fan after one try, so somed itay I'll really enjoy eating in the restaurant. For now, I'll hit up the truck whenever it's close. read more

How cute is this place! I LOVED the note on my cocktail and the small intimate space. The place is definitely a hidden gem. There was some confusion when I checked-in on yelp and the chef pick for an appetizer, but they were able to figure it out and the Brussels sprouts came out! They were yummy! I ordered the fish and chips. They were equally as nice. The tarter sauce was a nice addition and the Cole slaw was a nice addition. My guest ordered the flat bread and thought just a bit too much with the onions, but overall thought it had good flavor. read more

Outstanding food. The specials are really creative with a different world country theme every month. Have had African, German and Greek, all spectacular. The service is fine, but can be slow due to how busy or short-handed they are, and at times snotty. They are always crowded so reservations are highly recommended. read more
