Wow!! We finally got our bed frame!! We received our mattress over a week ago, 2/26/16, as promised within the ten days!! It's been three weeks and the manager Hector dodging my daily calls!! When I finally did get this "manager" on the phone he promised to have it delivered to my home today!! Only to be called this am and told that they can't deliver it until next Tuesday 3/8/16. So I was able to borrow a truck and pick up frame myself! I must say that the sales staff was wonderful and the guys at the warehouse were very apologetic and great!! But.... I am writing this to advise everyone that Ashley in Salinas is a bait and switch company.... Great service from the floor personal but management is something less than helpful... Spent $8,000.00 and they had to come back 4 different times.... Still, management will not discount anything to compensate the service that his team has done to me and my purchase. 3 different beds, 3 dressers, 2 night stands all have come either broken or scratched.... Sad, but I would never recommend or buy another piece of furniture from a company that doesn't standby customer service. read more

Wide variety of selection. Price to quality I give it a C+ I bought a sectional sofa about a little over a year ago. I picked it up at their warehouse myself. They gave me a chance to inspect it before leaving. A couple of days later I noticed a tear/hole in a corner of the sofa. It was a spot where you wouldn't see it unless you thoroughly inspect it. I missed it when I inspected during pick up; the warehouse has limited lighting. I called them and explained everything. I get a call back and they said they will have someone come by and inspect it. After a guy inspected it; they came back to pick it up and fix it for free. Although the whole process was a bit of a drag, they got it done. So make sure you thoroughly inspect your furniture when picking it up. read more

I purchased a bed/mattress from them back in December, by March mattress had a huge sink hole in it. The steps they make you go through to get it replaced are awful. I had to measure, send pictures TWICE, emailed over 5x, wait a month to be told I get a credit for a little less than 1/2 what I paid for the mattress & im on a time crunch and need to hurry to pick a new one. I was then told that I would have to pay for the delivery/hall away AGAIN, the manager told me he couldn't wave that fee.... DONT EVER SHOP HERE! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The furniture quality is crap. I unfortunately purchased a sofa sleep and a love seat from this particular Ashley Furniture. Have had some issues with the cushions. New cushions came in and same issue. I was given an 800 # to call and low and behold they are not even an authorized Ashley dealer apparently individual owned. Does this mean warranty is NOT the same? Keep you posted on the outcome! I knew I should have just gone to Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware to have a love seat and a sofa custom made. read more

I purchased a living room set (sofa and love seat) on a Tuesday and on Thursday I checked Ashley's online store and found that the set had gone on sale after my purchase. I called the store directly and was told immediately that they would match the online price. Employee I spoke with was so nice and immediately credited my credit card with the difference. Worse experience ever! We were looking for a sofa set and found a great deal with a rug, lamps and center table. They told us we would be getting everything in 2 weeks, perfect no big deal! 2 weeks pass and no call or update on our stuff. We decided to call 3 weeks later and ask about our merchandise and they tell us they only have the sofas and the pillows, no rug, lamps or center table. Okay no worries we can wait for the meanwhile we decided to at least get the sofas delivered. Delivery came and they bring in the wrong color!!! We ordered a charcoal grey and they brought in a sandy brown. I give them a call and let them know and they say the person must have wrote the wrong number, OF COURSE!! The lady says they should have the sofas at the warehouse and can deliver the next day or following day. At this point I'm pissed off because we had waited more than a month now and they still messed up everything!!! Save yourself some time and money and order off Amazon or Walmart!! I always shop here for my furniture and have always had a good experience. They let me shop and ask if I need anything to let them know. This is the best way to shop because I know what im looking for and do not like pushy sales people. I took a trip to Ashleys around August 2014 and spent about $2500 on a new dining table, couches, and coffee and end tables. I left satisfied as always to have found good quality furniture. Just recently in March 2015 I returned to purchase a bedroom set, new mattresses and some accent chairs, $5500 later, I left again happy and excited to have found what I wanted. They always provide friendly and professional service, and the staff is very knowledgeable of their inventory, which is very important for me as a consumer. Love going here!! read more

High rating is for salesperson John Calmus, not Ashley Furniture. Upon entering, seek out salesperson John Calmus to help you. If he is not there, ask when he will be coming in and come back on that day. If someone asks if you have been helped, say, "Yes, John Calmus is helping me." Why? We came in the first day and quickly measured for and purchased a livingroom set from a different salesperson, not knowing about John Calmus yet. The first salesperson was quite adequate and very nice. He did nothing wrong. He asked if we measured right and even commented that people think furniture will fit because it looks small in this large warehouse space, but once home, a different story. We told him we had 8 feet of room on one side and 10 feet of room on the other side for the loveseat and couch we were purchasing. The loveseat was 6 feet, the couch 8. So no problem, right? We were sure we measured right and signed away, being warned of the hefty 30% cancellation fee (crazy policy by the way, especially when wanting to cancel only two hours after purchase). The cancellation fee was $960.00 in this case. The furniture was to arrive two weeks from purchase date. Two hours after getting home that day, we realized we did not account for the depth of the pieces, which was 42 inches to add to each piece. When having these two pieces meet in a corner, which is what we had to do, the loveseat would have to overlap, making half of it unusable and the whole setup looking strange. We aren't in the furniture business and don't buy furniture every day or even every year. What do we know? Called right away to see what we can do about this cancellation fee, given only two hours had passed. We were told only the manager could help us and he was not in that night. After a sleepless night of wondering if we were going to just have to eat this $960, the manager the next morning said we could have store credit for our purchase. That's where John Calmus comes in. Even though we weren't his customers initially, he took a great amount of time with his measuring tape, making sure we measured correctly several sets of furniture. He offered great ideas on how one certain set might work with the space, then another, then another. When we erroneously thought something might work, he corrected us and showed us how to account for the depth with the measuring tape. Something else helpful he did was leave us alone at times in order for us to talk amongst ourselves without the pressure of a salesperson waiting, but he was right back when we needed him. We ended up getting the same set that we loved, but with a middle console taken out of the loveseat in order for it to fit our space, which was his idea, too. I just called John Calmus today to find out about the status of delivery. Since he was not the initial salesperson and we ended up not repurchasing, just taking out a piece, no new order was generated. He had to look at the order under the first salesperson and saw that we would be getting the floor sample, which had some noticeable mars on it. He said he knew we would not be happy with that and would order brand new for us. I can't thank John Calmus enough for turning into what could have been a furniture nightmare into something very pleasant and helpful to what we needed for our home, something that we will be living with for a number of years. read more

We have bought several pieces of furniture from him over the last 13 years and have always been taken care of. He never give hard pressure like typical furniture salesmen do at the other stores around town. We were looking for a new couch a few weeks ago and called Richard told him what we were looking for. After him asking a few good questions he said there was a couch that sounds like it would be a perfect fit for our needs. He asked us to come down to the store and look at it. My wife and I had both of our kids in the store with us and they were getting board but before they could act up in the store Richard showed us the couch, designed it with recliners and a chase to fit our measurements, found out the delivery time it would be in and got it ordered!!!! It came in a few days earlier that he promised us and he gave us fantastic price. The delivery crew brought in our home and set it up where we needed it. This experience with Ashley furniture store was a class act from head to toe because of Richard. If you have any furniture needs is a must to call him first, you won't be disappointed. read more

Preparing to write this review I read all of the existing reviews, and I had all of the negative experience a person could handle. I can't go into a lot of detail as I am old and might not live that long. Basically the process is focused on relieving you of as much money as possible with terms that are incredibly slanted their way. They practice a form of in-store bait and switch. I noticed that the staff are predominately not primary English speakers. This inhibits conversation and getting understandable answers. PASS THIS PLACE UP. UPDATE: It appears that Ashley has invented a new way of measuring human existence, and sofa delivery. It's called Ashley Time. In the world of Ashley time sofa deliveries can be very flexible, next week or next year. "Don't worry it will be delivered." The best part is when you get different answers from two different people. Credibility ZERO. As an aside. The young lady I talked to would say at the end of my sentence, "what did you say? At first I was somewhat perplexed but I finally realized what the problem was. I had exceeded 147 characters. More UPDATE; Well after a conversation with Hector the Manager (very professional by the way) 16 hours later my new sofa is resting in my family room. This is probably one of the worst places to ever get couches or any other product.. the store has the worst service from the customer service to the management and to everybody else who works here in the store..Tito and Hector I don't know how you guys conduct your guys's business here...Im So mad to the point I'm boiling in my own blood... I had made a purchase on 9-9-18 for just couches as of today I still have not received them 10-9-18 which Tito had gave me a quote of only 2 -3 weeks.. called after the three week to see where they where.. they had told me they haven't even been shipped out still in Warehouse.. gave a call at the four weeks mark told me they still haven't left the warehouse but they should be here this week which is today call today and try to see where they're at and they give me another BS story for another week so I'm her waiting a whole damn month plus on just couches... I call to speak to a manager and some how Hector is never to be found never in the store..also the store had the nerve to tell me I was not the only one with the same problem after I had purchased my couches.... I went in a couple weeks ago to get a new bed and frame along with all the other necessary things and Brad was the gentleman that helped me out. Originally I went in for a different mattress but he showed me a different one that was way better and he made sure to take care of me on the price. I really appreciate all of his help since he made it a very simple process. Yesterday I went in because I ended up not liking the frame that I originally liked and unfortunately Brad wasn't there but Kristen helped me out with a bunch of different things and she was very patient and knowledgeable. She made it easy picking out the right bed frame and worked with her manager to give me a great deal on it as well. I visited Ashley Furniture store in Salinas California on 8/16/2020 at 11 a.m. As soon as I walked in, the man at the desk by the entrance welcomed me and asked if I'm looking for something in particular. I said, "Yes, I'm looking for a formal dining set." He pointed out the displayed set by the door. I looked and notices a visible chip on the side of the table, so I asked "Is this made in China? It looks like the furniture sold in Costco." This man's response was "If you want furniture made in the US go to the Legacy Furniture store. We have a few more dining set around the store." Well since I was already at the store I decided to look around. During my walk around the store and looking at things at a very slow speed, this employee cut in front of me several times, hanging balloons, and only few inches from me acting like I'm not there. So if I would go a little faster he would bump into me. I looked around and on the way out I told this guy "You know I'm going to Legacy Furniture. You were very rude to me." The customer service at Ashley's Furniture store in Salinas is horrible. If you are shopping over there you should not ask questions unless you would like to be treated like nothing. read more

I too was fooled by the ad that said Ashley pays the sales tax. I guess it is only on certain items. The delivery schedule is a joke. Went into the store with the online price of a table I wanted & was told I could get a better deal if I paid cash, instead of paying with my credit card. After getting home, I realized I paid the same price as online & I didn't even get free delivery, my husband has to go pick it up at the warehouse. I went back into the store & was told I couldn't get a deal on 2 extra chairs & the manager wouldn't deliver for free!! Crappy customer service, would not recommend to any friends or family. Rude and Unprofessional Office Staff. I was told that my furniture would be delivered on Aug 4th than when it didn't come I called them and they said that it would be delivered on Aug 8th told I would get it the 9th or 10th. Then someone rudely called me YELLING that my phone was disconnected and they were trying to get ahold of me ( Number was NEVER disconnected and she called me at that number) I spoke to my salesman in person and he was upset that I hadn't gotten my furniture yet. So. We went on a "no tax" day and an "after-Christmas" clearance. Seems like the perfect combo. We were greeted by a sales person who did his usual spiel about "if you need any help my name is..." We thanked him and said we were looking. He proceeded to stalk us the entire time we were there. We figured he knew secret passageways that magically got him to our side of the store. He never came up to us... just sort of lurked. We actually tried to lose him a couple of times. He was good at finding us, and then looking the other way as if we just happened to be in the same place at the same time. There was a lot of furniture to choose from, but I just wasn't happy with the quality of the furniture we tried. I think I sat in every single recliner they had on display. The couches, with the exception of a couple of very ornate ones, were too soft and you could tell they would lose their cushionyness and get lumpy quickly. The prices were just not that competitive either. We actually wound up ditching our stalker and going home and ordering online from a different company. read more

Since we weren't in the market for one of a kind hand carved boutique items or furniture that looked like it belonged in a Ming Dynasty museum, Ashley Furniture in Salinas was the best option for us. They carry all styles of furniture at moderate prices. We bought an entire bedroom and office set from them. The guy who sold us the furniture was super nice and gave us a sweet deal. He even threw in an office chair at a heavy discount. It arrived on time as advertised and was assembled by the delivery guys without a hitch. About $1000 for a dining set with just four chairs. After a few months, the chairs became wobbly, and the cloth on them is breaking. Very sad. Purchased slate table from this merchant in Oct 07. After taking delivery in Nov 07, a few weeks later pieces started falling off of the table. We complained to the merchant and they sent a repairman to repair the table. The repair was inadequate (obvious repair, not what one would expect for a $500 slate table) so they sent a replacement table. A few weeks later, the second slate table was falling apart in the same manner. We complained again, same story...repairman, inadequate repair, the company sent another table. A few weeks after receiving table #3, it started falling apart in the same manner as the first two. Now we want our money back and the merchant will give us nothing more than store credit, even though we're still within the 1 yr warranty of the original purchase. BEWARE! read more

I thought i was getting a fairly good deal from this store until I saw a commercial that offered a Free T.V. with the purchase of $1,000 or more. I made a purchase of 2,000 dollars and the I should have been given a T.V. or at least offered the option of the T.V. I called management and I was told that since I got a discount on the furniture that I did not qualify for the T.V. explained that the furniture was on sale and that the only reason why I had a further discount was because the salesman had ordered me furniture that was discontinued. I would not have even known it was discontinued if I would not have called to see if It had arrived early. I ordered it March 20, 2011 and it was already April 6, 2011 and no word. Anyways the owner/manager Hector refused to give me the advertised T.V. and he said that I would have to purchase my items at full price in order to get the T.V. which did not make any since since the items were on sale actually clearance. The commercial did not state anything about clearance or sale items being excluded. I spent 2 grand but the management refused to honor their own advertisements. They just lost a customer for life. I always buy ashley furniture because of the quality and price but I can order and purchase Ashley furniture products from the Navy Exchange or the BX/PX for the same price or less and tax free. Also if the exchange has a sale they honor it. I paid cash for my merchandise and I also wanted to buy a living room, dining room and childrens' room from this store but they have lost me as a customer. Good Job Hector and Brad! OBTW I tried to cancel my order when I was denied a T.V. and I was informed that i would be fined 30% of the total purchase if I cancelled my order, so basically my choices were to shut up and accept the fact that I was wronged as a customer of pay money to receive nothing at all. My fault for not measuring and waitng a month to open it when I had houseguests. That is pretty much what the manager implied. Almost lasted two years! I bought a bedroom set and it's falling a part. The sales person never offered me a guarantee. Yesterday one of the rail supports broke. I called the store and they said I don't have any guarantee because at the time when I did the purchase I did not get a gurantee for 5 years. He was very knowledgeable about the furniture in the store which was very refreshing. He helped us through the process and selection with a breeze. This was our first purchase at Ashley's and everything from the signing to delivery and set up was excellent. We love our the style and quality of our new furniture.
