First off, this area in town is so quaint and lovely!! Old Town Antiques is the perfect corner and staple store for Old Town. I was very impressed with how organized and displayed everything was. Sometimes going into these stores can be iffy, but not here. It was like stepping into a time capsule. Staff was super super friendly as well. First time visiting but not the last. This place was lovely. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We bought a game table and they helped arrange delivery. Each section was beautifully display and they had something there for everyone. I got some brass candlesticks that were far cheaper than some of the other antique stores we visited that day. Long overdue updated review. This antique store has been going strong for years. It has over 30+ vendors inside. The store has both antique, vintage and handmade goods. There's something for everyone here: comic books, jewelry, home decor, books, furniture, collectibles, glassware, dishes, sunglasses, apparel, prints, postcards, greeting cards, funky pops, Disney items, mini cars, lighters, crystals, old coins/money, knick knacks + more! They accept cash, and cards. Friendly customer service. Only downside is that the second floor is no longer accessible to the public as it no longer has vendors up there. No public restroom but you can utilize the restroom inside the coffee shop next door. Just ask for the code when you go in! For the past seven years since I moved to the area, this has been one of my favorite shops to just peruse, even if I don't buy anything. We often stop by after going to First Awakenings for a late breakfast. As a few others have said, the shop has changed somewhat since the lockdowns. They no longer have access to the upper area in the back. They also no longer have the books section under the upper area. I used to love to look through the old books so that they're gone and that little area now resembles a mismatched tea room is a bit disappointing. The rest of the shop is great, though. I love going through each little section, looking at the offerings. I'm often looking for a specific couple of things but if I don't find them, that's ok. Just walking through the store and looking at everything is an event in and of itself! If this place ever closes, it will be a crying shame, as it is a treasure for sure. read more

Downtown Salinas does have that small town charm, I hate to admit it. I'm not really an Antique type of girl, but it was nice to look around. I think it was my first time in an Antique shop. Finished lunch with my fiancée's family, and he wanted to look around. People are super nice here. Got kind of weirded out, because I'm an SF girl. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE. I attended this place on 22 June with my mother and I walked in and was being followed by a lady throughout the store and constantly was being asked if I needed help. her tone was not friendly at all and sounded rude. I continued throughout the store being followed by the same lady and then went to a little section that had bracelets on a little rack. I showed my mom the bracelet and I told her look at how beautiful and I put it right back on the exact same hook on the rack. Then with my mom walked out of the store the owners and walked away and as we were walking away customer was yelling at us from the store, telling us that they were calling us. So my mom and I walked back inside and went to go see what was up and the lady that was following me in front of about 20 people said "where is the bracelet you took it." I did not take any bracelet OR ANYTHING. In front of the exact exact same people where she had publicly humiliated me I said why would I steal and I picked up the bracelet and I showed it to her and I put it right back on the rock where I found it and walked right out of the store without an apology given from the lady I have never stolen in my life or done anything as pathetic as that. I was very offended, i am a latina with a very dark complexion and felt like i was being falsely accused bc of my skin color. Halltree Antique Mall is like visiting a museum where everything is for sale. A large building that is stuffed with "lots of stuff"! I was impressed with a section full of old signs relating to automobiles. There was lots of old kitchen stuff - egg beaters, potato mashers and other implements to wreak carnage on your food before you assemble and cook it. One section had some war memorabilia. There were helmets from pre-world war I, world wars I and II, and an assortment of medallions and medals from Soviet Russia. The helmets were under glass though, so you can't try them on. I wanted to wear the German World War I helmet because I think they look cool; but it wasn't to be. It looked a little small anyway. People were probably not as large back then. Maybe if you have a small child, you could get the helmet for him. There was some incredibly bad art and lots of old photos and pictures. The worst piece of art was a bad painting of a swamp with ducks in it. The ducks were badly imposed mallards that were skinned and attached to the painting so that there was a 3-D look of those ducks. Whoever made this monstrosity must have invested a lot of time and work into the project. It looked old. I suppose whoever did it is long dead, so there is little harm in my critical comments hurting his self-image. I purchased a couple of old and useless kitchen tools for my collection of old and useless kitchen tools which I hang on the wall of my kitchen. One is a pasta cutter that is so flimsy that I'm sure the person who used it was very disappointed. The other mysteriously disappeared from the time we got into the car to when we got home. I do not even remember what it was. Halltree Antique Mall is close to a coffee shop. Sofie and I had our coffee and then cruised through the mall. I was drawn in by the antique gasoline pump... and once I was in, I could not leave. I just had to see everything. It was all so interesting. Sofie liked the baby carriage which was just like the one she pushed her children around in 40 years ago. Rubber tires, chrome and cloth. Now it's plastic, plastic and plastics. read more

I had been a frequent customer but will not be returning due to a loud, aggressive small dog that they keep behind the counter. Not only are members of my family allergic/anaphylactic to dog dander but it's just unpleasant being around animals that are obnoxious and badly behaved. Please make this a dog free zone. read more

I love this place! I got a very cute Cat pin for 10 dollars and there are so many cool things here! There's an upstairs with so much Cowboy gear, old records, and War items such as canteens, bags and helmets. Everything here is at a good price in my opinion. If you have a backpack leave it with the register guy! He doesn't want people knocking things over which is respectable. read more

Everything in CA is more expensive, and antique malls are no exception. As a lover of vintage handkerchiefs I was shocked that multiple stands within Halltree Mall were asking 2-3x the standard rate that I can find in the midwest or online locations for things of lesser size or quality than I usually get. That was disappointing as there were a number of nice items I would've happily taken home with me. I also was saddened by finding a lovely scarf marked $5.00, but when I tried to purchase it, the cashier maintained it was actually 15 and the that is wasn't a slash through the dollar sign, but a "1" - I disagreed and left the purchase (it was NOT marked "S15" as a price thankyouverymuch). I know what I had, and the value is not that high. $10 would've been a stretch, but $15 was outlandish. I left with a little pattern book only. :( Not as big as anticipated based on other reviews and promotional info, but a decent antique mall to have a look around. The building itself is quite lovely and I'm glad that it remains a historic part of the lovely old Salinas Main Street. read more

I came here with high hopes judging from the Yelp reviews. This is a nice, fairly antique mall with a good selection. After I had shopped the whole store I had accumulated about $115 worth of items, in addition was a small 14k gold pin marked $15. The tag was marked as "14k pin- $15." The dealer knew it was 14k gold and obviously felt the price was acceptable. As I went to the counter to pay, the counter woman informed me that the price is not actually $15, but is now actually $75, because "there's no way we can sell it to you for that cheap." IF YOU CANT SELL IT FOR THAT CHEAP THEN DONT WRITE $15 ON THE PRICE TAG. What had happened was that the counter lady called the dealer, and convinced the dealer of the gold pin that the price was too low. As an employee of the store, it is your job to ring up customers and show items to guests, IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO DECIDE IF ITEMS ARE TOO CHEAPLY PRICED. Halltree makes me feel like they practice dishonest and deceptive pricing tactics. After further reading the reviews, I am not the only one who has experienced a situation such as this at Halltree. I have been in the antique business as a buyer and dealer for quite some time and this is NOT how the game works Halltree. This incident was enough to make me leave without making any purchases (and therefore punishing other multiple dealers of the store) and never return. Even though this is a good antique store with a lot of variety and quality items, don't expect to find a great deal, because miss counter lady will probably tell you that the tag is wrong and the price has now doubled. read more

This place was packed with beautiful antiques. I mean ANYTHING you can imagine! EVERYTHING! It's huge, don't forget to check the second floor. The owners were very nice and helpful. One of the gentleman kept sort of yelling a little, but that might have been that he had a hard time hearing? We bought a few records, bunnies, buttons, and a beautiful red garnet ring! Had a very bad past experience with the two older women who work here. I walked in with my sister to take a look around since we were shopping around downtown area. I was wearing my day of the dead head scarf that I bought off amazon. When we entered there was no greeting or hellos, but as soon as we started looking at the items they kept asking if we needed help finding anything. The first few times was okay but to get that every 5 minutes was annoying. Then as we go to the register counter to ask about an item the lady had the nerve to compliment my scarf and say if I could put it back where I found it!?! Are you fucking kidding me? Do you sale so much crap that you dont even know what's yours? I was extremely pissed and felt discriminated against. I told the old woman that my head scarf wasn't theirs and to please check her camera next time before she jumps the gun like that. To embarrass me and not even apologize after I just corrected you was so disrespectful. Someone really needs to report the bad customer service these owners deliver. With their over pricing of items that they buy from other thrift stores for 90% lower then what they try to resale it for. I've seen these ladies at Savers plenty of times in Salinas before they closed down.
