I wish I could give this store zero stars. I don't think I could possibly despise of Ashley furniture more than I already do.
I ordered a bedroom set, mattress and box spring a month before my planned move in date to a new apartment. I scheduled the delivery over three weeks out for a Saturday delivery because I don't have family in Tampa and work during the day, I was scheduled to move in to my apartment that Saturday, etc. I had looked in a lot of other places and was just tired of looking. They had a promotion going on for a white set that looked decent in the store so I bought it.
Fast forward three weeks. I get a call on Tuesday confirming my delivery for Thursday. I immediately called them and asked why my order was scheduled for Thursday when I had scheduled Saturday delivery pretty far in advance. "Someone" went in and changed my order, and they told me they wouldn't be able to deliver on the Saturday I had scheduled, it would be the following Saturday. I said no, make it work, and they did "squeeze me in" for my original delivery date. But first I had to hear the sob story of how sorry they were that there wasn't room. I told them I didn't care about the problems on their end, make it work because that's the right thing to do.
So a few days later they deliver my furniture. While unloading the truck the delivery guy informs me that he does not have the footboard or rails. And the headboard is useless without those pieces. I feel bad that the delivery guys had to listen to me yell at the store employee. Again, SOMEONE removed the footboard and rails form my order. They again told me they could not deliver on the following Saturday, I again said make it work, after hearing yet another sob story about how they couldn't deliver on the following Saturday. I again said make it work, and in turn they "squeezed me in". At this point I also told the sales manager that I did not like one of the pieces I ordered because it's too big and because I was within the 72 hours of delivery that I would like them to take it away when they deliver the headboard. He told me they don't have a return policy and asked who told me that. Well of course the salesman John that sold me the furniture did, so that I would just buy it!
I'm now sick of typing out all the issues I've had with them. To sum it up, they can't give me an itemized receipt with the discounts they gave for the trouble, or the returned piece of furniture. As they have said "it would just be too hard for me to understand". The dresser, headboard and night stand have imperfections and paint chips. I told them to send me a touch up pen and just end this nightmare. They told me they don't have touch up pens and they need to send out a technician which would mean waiting around on another Saturday afternoon for someone to come with a touch up pen and make it look right... I don't think so. I'm still waiting to hear back from them to see if there are any alternatives to a technician coming out.
I've been handed off between the three managers throughout this process. I think they must fight over who gets to call me each day to give me more bad news. The management here is terrible. Jim the sales manager, Glen the office manage and Josh the store manager should be embarrassed by the service I have received.
As a final disclaimer, I have worked in a customer driven environment for years, I've completed nationally recognized customer service training courses, and I would never treat someone the way that I've been treated. Go read my positive yelp reviews. I much prefer writing those. read more
