My family's purchased bedroom and living room sets from them going back 20 years, so when I learned that they were opening a showroom in the Bay area, I was very excited. That showroom opened recently and did not disappoint. For those who have never been to an El Dorado Furniture showroom, prepare yourself - it can be a little overwhelming. Though the St Pete location is smaller than any of the South Florida locations, it still feels immense and labyrinthine, with long, winding rooms full of pieces organized by styles. For example, one enormous room will feature Italian-inspired modern design, while another will spotlight their Transitional-style pieces, and yet another will highlight their classically ornate furniture pieces. We actually visited the store during their soft opening, a week prior to their Grand Opening. Our salesperson, Luis Vallejo, was extremely helpful in guiding us through the various rooms and eventually to the bedroom set we decided to purchase. Some other things to know going in: 1) This is most certainly NOT IKEA. It's not cheap, it's not made of manufactured wood, and it WILL last. Consider: our bedroom set before this purchase came from El Dorado as well, was purchased in 2006, has survived several moves and will continue to serve as our guest room bedroom furniture; 2) There's a 5% charge for delivery; and 3) delivery personnel assemble everything, if it doesn't already come installed. Regardless of your personal style or taste, if you're shopping for grown-up furniture that will last, give El Dorado a try and ask for Luis.
