My initial intro to Ashland Drug when new to Ashland wasn't pleasant. Since then, I've actually found a " family" within this pharmacy. I've had several trips to ER since here and this pharmacy and its people are very knowledgeable and helpful. I've had to deal with broken bones and severe injuries in this Anti-opiate age. Three times just this past year they've said they called my Dr. to refill a prescription and they never called. They lied about it. Can't get anyone on the phone and the voice mail box is full. I love the convenient location and supporting a local business, but I am now a week late to refill my prescription (for the third time) so I can't keep using this pharmacy. This place is absolutely horrible. I wanted to support a local business but they made it impossible. I have been trying for several weeks now to get a compounded prescription with zero support. They literally told me today that they are too busy because of Rite Aid closing and if I want my prescription I should find another pharmacy to get it for me. read more

This isn't the first time I have had poor service from Ashland Drug. This experience though was enough that I felt compelled to write this review. It does seem to be a common thread from previous reviews written recently through Yelp. The other day I went in with three written scrips. Dropped them off at the counter and was told they would get on it. I also inquired on two perscriptions I had turned in personally about a week prior. I was told one of them was not ready. Of course, I asked why and no one could tell me. I figured this would all get sorted out when I returned for the new drop offs. Later in the morning I returned and there system (server) was down and they could not release anything until up. Ok - those things happen, specially in the day and age where we depend on computers and dealing with multiple insurance companies, etc. I left and returned a third time. The third time there system was up. I asked about the previous prescription dropped off over a week earlier and there was some back office typing, checking, scrambling and it shows up. OK I am ready to check out. I go to pay and thought to myself this has got to be a mistake $250. New to our insurance I figure it's because our maximum deductible hasn't been met yet. I leave only later to review the receipt that they charged insurance for four of the five but left one of the most expensive prescriptions off billing insurance. Keep in mind I picked up all five of these at the same time, insurance didn't change from dropping off or picking up. I return again for the forth time that day, to bring up to their attention that one of the medications were not charged through my insurance carrier. Scrambling, they refunded the difference in charges $210 back to my card. No apology or discussion of how this happened. As I am releasing my card for the refund, I expressed to the young man behind the register, "After things calm down (which the staff appeared to be hurried/scattered) they should review how I was able to leave earlier without this being charged to insurance." Keeping a level volume, not angry, just disappointed. There was an older, tall man behind the counter that stated very abruptly. "I should not be yelling at that young man, he's just a high school student. If I wanted to give someone grief that he was not the one to give it to." I of responded to him, "I was not yelling, just voicing the concern over the situation." Several other customers saw the exchange. I can only guess that they too felt the tension and disrespect the staff gave. I have been in the service industry my entire working career. I can say it's clear their system is broke. They lack an understanding as to who their customer is and how to treat someone. People come into a pharmacy because they need medical help. Shame that the local pharmacy has such practices. I would expect better from a local establishment. I for one will not be visiting this business for anything again! read more

A lovely drug store. Unfortunately, they do not accept Humana or Good RX or Medicare unless it's Medicare Part D (the drug plan) or American Express. They do, however, have their own discount card. So I will try that out tomorrow. In the corporate-backed push to privatize almost everything, including medicine that people depend on to live and breathe, the reason they can't take these, is presumably because they do not cover the cost of the drugs for the pharmacy, which is not on the "approved" or "preferred(?)" list of Medicare pharmacies. It's independent, not corporate-owned. I read that the head of one of the main pharmaceutical companies just got a salary of 29 million dollars a year. I'm not sure these types of millionaires are human. I've lived here 15 years, and had to transfer a prescription here, only to discover all this after doing that. Will have to go to a pharmacy out of Ashland. And the sodium chloride 7% solution that I need for inhaling is not covered by anyone, even though Medicare's rules say they only cover it when it is nebulized. Medicare pays for my nebulizer but not sodium chloride solution (you can't make your own, not safe). And that's gone up from $11 to $43 now in the U.S. for me per month. luckily I can still afford it. read more

Just moved to Ashland where I find most people to be very kind. In efforts to support a local business, I selected Ashland Drug to transfer a prescription from my previous location. I provided the information the pharmacist needed and was told I would be given a call once the prescription was filled but nearly a week later, no phone call. I drove back to the pharmacy and was told they could not find me in their system so back to the dry board to started the transfer process again! I complained to the less than congenial gentleman in the window that when I tried to call several times that day, the voicemail stated the mailbox was full. His response was " I know". No apology, no explanation, wow! Bottom line is it took a week and three trips to the drugstore for one prescription, I truly felt I was more of an imposition than a valued customer. I will be moving my prescriptions too another location that's reliable and more friendly. read more

RUDE, FORFOTTEN RX's, DANGEROUS! ONLY filled part of my RX. This happened MULTIBLE times. ALSO-- I was told my RX's was out for delivery, but they FORGOT, EVEN THOUGH I called that morning to verify (BC they forgot MULTIBLE times B4). I called and spoke to Chris. Instead of an apology And trying to do better, I was met with Anger and told "We're doing YOU a service, If you don't like it go elsewhere". Wouldn't they WANT to know so they can ameliorate For customer service, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, safety? This is NOT Pizza delivery, it's MEDS. So ONLY filling partial RX's and FORGETTING Meds altogether, is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! read more

I understand the new policy of not filling prescriptions until you come to pick them up, but seriously this place needs to get their act together. I came in this am and was told they could fill it if I wanted to wait around. I told them it would be better if I could come back later. He said fine. I came back at 4, waited in the long line and guess what? They haven't filled it because they were busy. So now waiting another 1/2 hour and need to go back. 3 times in one day. We are busy too! I've lived here most of my life and have shopped at Rexall/Ashland Drug since I was a kid. The pharmacy situation in this town is really bad. read more

Rude & very unfriendly staff! I have no transportation so i call to see if my medicine was filled, and they said yes. I finally find a ride to pick it up & and it's not ready. They say it'll be 15 minutes. I waited 30 minutes & come back, they act like they've never seen me. Still not filled. Huh???? The young guy working the counter was obviously in a bad mood, the guy filling prescriptions was emotionless with zero empathy & also obviously unhappy. All i wanted was the medication i am prescribed to take daily. Now im going without & have no ride to get back there as I live outside city limits. Maybe they need to be re taught how to work customer service. Why take out your being miserable on your customers? I was more than patient. Will take my business elsewhere & if you're looking for a drug store i highly encourage you to avoid this low frequency establishment. Unbelievable awful service. read more

I wish I could give a zero star rating. I was treated with extreme disrespect by the owner of Ashland Drug, Christopher Hernandez. He mismanaged a critical medication for me, and when I spoke up about his confusing and negligent actions, he was venomous. He laughed at me and treated me like garbage. Christopher is not a pharmacist, he is a technician. Even if he was a qualified pharmacist, he still would not have a right to manipulate or change my doctor's orders. I cannot believe the level of rudeness and lack of professionalism that I received from him. Not to mention the way his actions harmed my health. Hernandez does not understand the collateral damage of his behavior and frankly he is a liability. I would highly recommend that you choose another pharmacy over this one if given an option. read more

My son was in minor surgery and we had some prescriptions to be filled for after care... Surgery was performed in Medford, so we of course tried nearby pharmacies 1st. One pharmacy didn't have a common medication available? Pharmacy #2 took all the information, told me they could get them filled in an 1 hour. I did some grocery shopping and came back 45 minutes later... They were closed for lunch. Turns out they didn't even look at the prescription(s), took them off the counter and handed them back to me *sigh* Meanwhile, I got the call that my son was ready to be discharged and I left in a hurry to pick him up without any aftercare meds *yikes* WHEN IT MATTERS... Trust your local community Pharmacy! Down the street from my house, I popped in and explained the need for meds sooner rather than later. Customer Service is OUTSTANDING! Had a new patient entered into the system and meds in hand in less than 20 minutes. Now that is what I call Customer Care *BIG Smiles* Thank Goodness for local Businesses!!! read more

Thank goodness for local independent pharmacies where you can still get outstanding service and superior attention to detail. Over the years living in different places I have always attempted to use locally owned independent pharmacies and I must say Ashland Drug Store is on the top of the list. They even offer delivery service. Whenever I have a question about a prescription they take the time to respond often giving me far more information than I had received from my doctor. You can tell that the owner Chris cares for his pharmacy staff along with the other employees who cover the retail store...the chemistry is apparent and it all carries over to quality customer care and service not only for my self but to other people I see being served. I've been wanting to express my appreciation by writing a review for some time and now finally getting around to doing. Thank you Ashland Drug store for all that you do! They have my highest recommendation. p.s. I did take a few moments to look at some of the reviews and certainly agree with the 5 star reviewers. I'm astonished at the the one star reviews and quite frankly a little amused and skeptical. I truly don't believe they should be running as a pharmacy. They never have anyones medications ready on time or even within a reasonable time. I have now been using this pharmacy for over a year just due to how close it is. I came in last Tuesday for my medication, which I was told would be ready Thursday. It's now Monday I show up for my prescription and it's still not even filled up. Now I have to wait around for another hour just to get my prescription filled up. read more

I am sorry, I wanted to support local but Ashland Drug is not a local business you should support. Even before the start of the pandemic in 2020, I have used Ashland Drug and EVERY TIME they have not been able to fill the prescription fully, and I have had to return. You may ask, (1) "why wouldn't you call to see if the prescription is filled?" Or (2)"Why still give them the benefit of the doubt?" Well, (1)I have tried to call and there is no answer and the mailbox is full, and (2) I fully want to support local businesses. However, the last four times I have gone in, all the people being helped in front of me have been told that there prescriptions would be ready by the said time, and they are not. Furthermore, even my doctor's office called to fill the prescription and could not get a hold of anyone. I have tried, whole heartedly to support this business. However, every single time, it is a complete let down. Maybe this will inspire the business to hire someone to at least pick up there phone and tell you their prescription isn't ready. read more

A local neurologist prescribed medication that was both expensive and difficult to locate. After contacting a number of pharmacies, my Doctor suggested ASHLAND DRUG, noting that "they seem to make an extra effort in locating providers for hard to find meds". How true. A staff person and pharmacist (CHRIS) consulted with me, did a computer search, and the RX was filled the next day...at a price that was pleased with. We have always had a terrific experience with the friendly and helpful staff at Ashland Drug. On more occasions than I can count, they have gone out of their way to help our family out, whether it be sorting out dosage changes with the doctor's office or helping to get us refills out of state when we forgot to pack them for vacation. The service here is terrible. I just started using them a few months ago and in that time, they have screwed up my prescription every time, with delays and the inability to fill the most common prescriptions. 4 separate times I have called before coming to make sure that my prescriptions were ready, because of earlier mishaps in which they blamed their automated refill system. 3 of those times, I was assured the prescription was ready and made the trip over only to be told by the person there that, actually, it wasn't ready, or they couldn't fill it. Go to Rite Aid. I tried, but unfortunately, this local business is not worth supporting and does not seem to care when they make mistakes consistently. read more

I needed a replacement piece for my son's inhaler. I have bought these replacements at several drug and medical supply stores in the past. His albuterol prescription comes separately and being a ten-year-old he occasionally loses the plastic applicator. The older woman behind the counter was incredibly rude to me, telling me there was no place that would sell that and after 30 years working in the business she was 99% sure I would never find what I was looking for. Even if that was true and they don't carry that product, she had no reason to be so short, snippy, and disrespectful. It doesn't take much effort to be kind and smile, better customer service would surely result in less lost customers. read more

THEY ARE THE BEST!!! I was trying to rummage up the energy to get out of the house to get my antibiotic for a sinus infection and low and behold --- Scott shows up at my door with my medication! The timing could not have been better! He replied, "well I saw it was your antibiotic and figured you'd be needing it!" Now this is small town service with a beautiful smi)e! Sometimes the good suffers with the bad. I like this store only because it's convenient. I just moved to Ashland about a week ago and I've been to Ashland Drug twice. The elderly women in the back is rude and seems to be annoyed at the word. She ignores some customers that are in line, and helps others that are walking in. Everyone else seems to be okay and the guy in the front is amazing, he's nice, welcoming, friendly helpful and, approachable. ( I don't know what the women's deal is, but it's stressful going in there, and I'm picking up my medicine for pain and stress.) I won't recommend it until the lady with the bad attitude changes. read more

This place is fantastic. I can't imagine why anyone would use one of the large box stores, wait in long lines, and have it take forever to get a prescription when right in our neighborhood you can get immediate, friendly, competent service. You can always call and talk to a pharmacist or a tech and get personalized information and help. Their auto refill program, and automated notifications that your meds are being prepared makes it easy to track, and they also do some compounding. We are SO LUCKY to have Ashland Drug in our town!! read more

After some negative experiences with two other local pharmacies I started using Ashland Drug several years ago, with consistent satisfaction. You can depend on them to get everything right, from prescriptions to medical equipment, and to go the extra mile sometimes. They don't treat you like a number. Since their move, their parking is now the best in town (very safe, for anyone with limited mobility). So glad to have a real home town pharmacy. read more
