A normal person looks at a hamburger and asks, "Would you like cheese on that?" The people at MELT apparently look at one and ask, "How can we make this so extraordinary that customers begin questioning whether everything they previously called a burger was actually just meat occupying bread?" I ordered the Paris Burger: Premium beef char-grilled with roasted garlic, then topped with melted French Brie, balsamic-glazed onions, baby spinach, and a smear of Dijon mustard on a house-made bun. This ingredient list sounds less like a hamburger and more like several upscale appetizers became trapped in an elevator and decided to form a government. I do not know what kind of inspired nut job first assembled this combination, but everything contributes to everything else. The Brie, roasted garlic, sweet richness of the balsamic-glazed onions, spinach, and Dijon do not compete for attention; they cooperate with suspicious precision. The flavor is exquisite. This should not be placed in the same category as ordinary burgers unless the category is titled "Round Foods That Technically Contain Beef." And then there is the bun. Most hamburger buns eventually choose one of two career paths: Damp sponge or roofing material. This one rejected both. It was cooked to that nearly mythical point between soft and soggy, firm and crunchy. It supported the burger without collapsing, disintegrating, or scraping the roof of my mouth like an edible Brillo pad. Perfection. For a side, I ordered the sweet potato fries. They were already very good, which apparently was considered insufficient by the resident mad scientists. Someone had the completely unreasonable idea of serving them with marshmallow fluff. Marshmallow fluff. With sweet potato fries. This sounds like a suggestion made at 2:00 a.m. by someone who should have been politely escorted away from the kitchen. Instead, that person may be a genius. The combination is incredible. The salty sweet potato fries dipped in marshmallow fluff produced one of those moments when your brain objects on principle while your hand quietly reaches for another fry. This proves that not every insane idea is crazy; some merely require dipping sauce. I also had the Thin Mint shake, which was excellent except for the only legitimate complaint I could manufacture during the entire meal: It came with an ordinary straw. Every attempt to drink it became a small plumbing emergency when a piece of Thin Mint lodged in the opening. Sip, blockage, investigate, clear obstruction, repeat. I was not drinking a milkshake so much as performing routine maintenance on a delicious cookie pipeline. A proper milkshake straw would eliminate the one defect in an otherwise outstanding operation. This was not merely a good meal from a burger joint. It was a culinary experience disguised as casual food. The Paris Burger was phenomenal, the fries and marshmallow fluff were an act of benevolent madness, and even my complaint involves the shake containing too many actual pieces of Thin Mint to pass through standard beverage infrastructure. MELT is almost worth traveling to Virginia for by itself. If the people running this place are insane, nobody intervene. Whatever treatment would make them normal might ruin the menu.

literally, the worst place I've ever been to. the management is disgusting in the way they treat their customers. I ordered delivery, the lady repeated my order back to me correctly but my order was not complete or correct upon delivery. I called and tried to speak to someone about it. the women I spoke to flat out admitted she made a mistake when putting my order in and what I ordered was in fact not what was delivered to me. she then put me on the phone with the "owner" (who should lose his business license) I was yelled at, hung up on multiple times. told I wasn't getting a refund (which I didn't ask for, I just wanted my order corrected) I even offered to come to pick it up. I was told I was wasting my time and. when I initially called I was told my correct order would be delivered to me in 45 minutes. I asked simply how long will it take if I come to pick it up, as I had already waited for my food for over 45 minutes the first time. by this time, having been hung up on 4 times by the owner he again stated that it would take 45 minutes as it has to cook. ( i understand that) so I asked him why it would take 45 more minutes. (because we had already been back and forth on the phone for 30 trying to explain that I do not want a refund and that the women who took my order admitted to making a mistake. (the order should have been started upon my initial call stating the order wasn't correct) and I just wanted to know what I needed to do to get my correct order.all while being hung up on multiple times because the owner is a terrible excuse for a human let alone a business owner.) he then advised that he will not be refunding or bringing my correct order. I even tried to call and place a brand new order and pay for what I had already paid for JUST so I could have my food.the lady took my order. she then called me about 5 minutes later stating they were "out" of what i had ordered. i will NOT be back. and considering i had a large order that was meant to feed multiple people, and the customer service was so terrible all of my friends that were with me will be posting reviews as well, as they heard the entire conversation between me and this sad excuse for a business owner. i will NEVER spend my money with this place again. this was my first and last time going here. lets not forget that the owner is such a childish human that he belittles his customer, lies and tries to make the customer look bad for his mistakes. So happy to discover this place, and only 10 minutes from home! I typically drive 15-20 minutes to get middle eastern kabobs...usually of the Pakistani variety. Of course, there is also the Moby Dick option, but that's completely different (Persian). These are truly Afghan style, and it was outstanding. The meat was succulent and tender, with incredible seasonings that stand apart from the others. The bread was not typical naan, but the flatter Afghan style--they sell bread like this in some markets, but it's packaged and soft, this looks the same but is so so delicious fresh, hot, and steaming. Can't wait to go back! I also can't wait to try some of the other menu items, which include various Afghan appetizers and items I have seen at other full-up restaurants in the past. Worst place ever. Let's forget about the food and talk about the service. I called to order delivery. The lady that took my order repeated my order correctly, but somehow my order was incorrect upon delivery. When I called, I was put on the phone with the owner who refused to give me his name. He then proceeded to yell at me and tell me that people make mistakes. (Which I fully understand.) but he refused to deliver my correct order. Told me I was wasting my time. And I shouldn't bother because we not going to fix this mistake and then hung up on me. The service is the worst I have ever encountered. And that alone is the reason I will never eat here again. I recently had an unfortunate experience at Ashburn Kabob. It has been my family's go-to spot for kabobs, but our latest order left us disappointed. We ordered dinner from there, but unfortunately, they forgot to include an extra lamb skewer. When I called to inform them about the missing item, they requested a photo of the platter as proof. I was taken aback by this request, considering that I have been a loyal customer, spending $85 every time I dine there. It felt as though they were questioning my honesty rather than providing the customer service I expected. Given this experience, I have decided not to eat at Ashburn Kabob again. This is my go-to kabob place. Was thrilled that door dash would deliver to my house (about 6 mi from restaurant). Food is always great. Last time I ordered via door dash, the door dash delivery guy never showed up to pick up the food from restaurant. I called 20 min after the order was supposed to be delivered and the woman that answered put the owner on the phone. He said the food was ready but they never heard from door dash. He put me on hold for a moment and then came back and said he'd deliver it personally. The owner. Even if the food sucked, this would still be my spot. My favorite kabob place! My family and I get carry out and so far, have not been disappointed. The restaurant is small and isn't really the coziest to dine in at, but their food is SO GOOD. Their white sauce is the best I've had - packed with flavor and I use it on everything. The kabobs are always tender and cooked perfectly. Naan isn't too chewy and has a perfect crisp to it. They dont make the food fresh, besides possibly the naan bread. But even the naan bread is not fresh for every order. They gave us extremely hard chewy room temperature naan which we had to go ask them for freshly cooked naan instead, which was totally different. The gyro meat, they literally reheat previously cooked gyro meat instead of carving it fresh off the roasting cone and providing freshly cooked gyro meat. The gyro meat they provided was also room temperature and obviously not fresh. Maybe if you get lucky and come in at the right time you can get gyro meat freshly carved off the cone, but the other times youll be getting older and reheated gyro meat which is unacceptable. Its the same situation with their beef kobideh kabobs and possibly even their rice. These were not made to order, instead both the kabob and rice were room temperature, not hot, and they had obviously reheated the kobideh kabobs instead of actually cooking fresh ones. All of this is unacceptable. To top it off their prices are extremely high. Gyros i believe were $14 which is very high end for gyro. The kobidehs i believe were $18 or $19. So their prices are higher than most places yet the quality is lower. Theres plenty of places you can get a freshly cooked gyro or kabob with rice for less.

At first glance, the prices seemed a bit higher than I initially expected for this type of fare. However, once the plates hit the table, it all made sense. The portions are massive--way more than we anticipated. When you factor in the quality of the ingredients and the sheer amount of food you get, it is actually a great value. Bottom line: Come hungry. You definitely get what you pay for here, and then some. We will certainly be back!
