The platter with sweet potato fries, very flavorful dish. Really enjoyed it.
Ricky B.

Out of town traveler and I have to say the food here was quite delicious the steaks were very tender and flavorful. I had the platter which had 3 different styles of dishes for one meal. The portion sizes was good I had no issues of finishing everything and feeing full afterward, the dish also came with a choice of sweet potato fries, fries, or salad. I would definitely recommend this spot. Food 9/10. The service was self selection so no interaction with anyone until handling food, which I prefer. Service 8/10. The ambiance was in a location with mini restaurants, a bar, a lot of sitting areas, and an arcade for all ages. I really liked the location ( the windmill), the family and I ate here multiple days out of the week we were there. Ambiance 9/10.

Chimichurri Tri-Tip. Look how little meat they give
Thao Nhi N.

I hate to give them a bad review because after seeing so many pictures and great reviews, it was a huge let down. We ordered the chimichurri tri-tip sandwhich, the French fries with gaucho sauce, & the gaucho sampler. First of all, they offer discounts if you leave them a 5-star review. That should've been my first red flag. Second, the portion was laughable. The meat portion of the sandwhich was really sad. Every bite I took was 80% bread. Also, the choice of the bread was terrible. It was not good. The sandwhich would've been much better if they chose a better bread & added much more meat. I thought it was just me & it might have been a bad day with someone new on the front line, however I've had friends who also tried this spot & said the same thing. I felt seen. The gaucho sampler was not bad, but again it also didn't have much meat. The fries were ok, nothing spectacular and was very mid with an underwhelming sauce. Third, the prices did not match the quantity or quality. Everything was way over priced for what we received. I most likely will not be returning.

Located in liberty public market. Was very good but for the price, I thought they would give more meat. It was a smaller sandwich. The garlic is a bit overpowering. Service was slower but it's because it's made to order. You order on the touchscreen menu and they give you a number. Would try again but order something different.

Asado Gaucho inside the Liberty Station food court seriously stood out to me. The decor immediately caught my eye, and seeing all the amazing sandwiches people were eating around me made it impossible not to stop. The girl at the register was super kind and took the time to explain the menu she recommended the garlic fries, chimichurri tri-tip sandwich, and the tomahawk sandwich, and that's what your boy got! Everything was absolutely delicious. The bread was perfect fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp on the outsideand the food came out fresh and hot. Service was great, and I also love that they offer catering.

Asada Gaucho has taken over one of the central area stalls at the Liberty Public Market in Point Loma. I believe the business operates a catering service too. They specialize in Argentinian cuisine featuring fire grilled cuts of meat served as sandwiches or plates. The offerings were not cheap as the sandwiches (8) were all $15.99 and up while the plates (2) were more than $25 each. Unlike other times, there was no line at the service counter when I arrived. From the list of sandwiches, I chose the Reverse-Seared Picanha ($17.99). Small pieces of grilled picanha were topped with gaucho sauce, brie, honey, and arugula inside two halves of flatbread that were sliced in half diagonally. My food was ready in about 15 minutes and placed in a cardboard takeout container. The size of the sandwich was decent. The picanha was cooked to the appropriate degree of doneness. I do wish the pieces of meat were larger as they fell out when I picked up one half to take a bite. The peppery flavor of the arugula was a nice choice for greens. Maybe a small side could have been added for the price as just the sandwich alone was insufficient.

Went here on a busy night and waited ~15 min for our food, though they did tell us expected wait time so we were able to walk around and come back. Staff was friendly, and food was good. The gaucho sampler ($29.99) was good but not great. I would say it was tasty and I loved that we could try 3 different types of steaks but the flavor fell slightly short of my expectations. The fries though were REALLY good, and I'd definitely go back just to get those! We got the provenzal fries ($7.99) and they had the perfect amount of crisp, salt, and garlic.

Honestly it's hard to know what to make of this place. They clearly use good ingredients and for the most part care, but it just doesn't feel like you're getting your moneys worth here. The sandwich feels like they are filling it with quite a bit of the cheaper ingredients (arugula honey a tomato chimmichuri) whereas the beef and cheese are very skimpy and engulfed in very thick bread. Was it a good sandwich? Yeah it tasted solid. Their fries were good too. But I don't think I'm going to be back when there's so many options there

Start by taking a nice stroll around Liberty Public Market. Take in the sights. The sounds. The smells. The sights, sounds, and smells are leading you somewhere... it's Asado Gaucho! The open concept full view kitchen is a sight to see as they reverse sear your tomahawk. The sizzle of the meat as it is introduced to a hot grill. The smell of the meat and bread as it's assembled in full view. Asado Gaucho is definitely one of the best eateries inside all of Liberty Stations Public Markey! Their tomahawk sandwich was delicious, filling, and a conversation starter.

Leftover oil from sampler plate. Plus oil from spicy chimichurri.

I got the gaucho sampler, so you don't have to! It was way too greasy. The meets were good while warm. But after a few minutes, they were cold and not that good. Couple the cold meet with tons of oil and it was downright disgusting. Same with the fries. The bottom of the paper plate was like a river of oil. Cashier guy was cool and attentive. Just cant get over the excess oil

We tried this place after seeing this online and it did not disappoint! This place is located inside the public market at Liberty Station. We tried the tri-tip chimichurri and the tomahawk sandwiches. Both were very good a full of flavor. Our favorite was the tri-tip chimichurri! Our sandwiches are made to order so there is a little wait but it's worth it. The staff was so friendly and welcoming

Gaucho Sampler comes with a side of fries, and I put the chimichurri on the side

Was happy to see the new addition of the "Asado Guacho Argentinian meat dining experience" my family's been coming to the public market for years and I chose the gaucho sampler for 29.99 It was amazing great portion definitely can share! I will say it's one of the best things I've eaten in the public Square!

I wish we would've seen yelp instead of the video online. We payed $27 for one sandwich that was promised to be "the best thing in liberty station." It was not. The bread was too hard, probably a little stale. The fries were almost cold, regular frozen fries you can get at a grocery store and there was no sauce. In the ad we saw the sandwich had some sort of chimichurri but ours was dry. No sauce in the sandwiches on the side. The meat was good. In the time it took them to give us our food we ordered and received crab rangoons, those I would recommend. You order on a kiosk so there's no customer service to mention.

Amazing sandwich! The meat was crazy tender and fell apart and the bread was fresh and delicious. Also got some sweet potato fries with some of the best sauce I've ever had. Delicious and I'll be going again soon

What made it a little confusing was that once we were seated, the section had multiple open tables already available. Fortunately, the night improved from there. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit, so keep that in mind, but it creates a relaxing atmosphere. The music was also something you wouldn't typically expect from a steakhouse, and I actually appreciated that since it matched the vibe of the restaurant well. We started with the "tableside" Caesar, which, unfortunately, was not prepared tableside, but it was still good. For our mains, we both ordered the NY strip, and both steaks were cooked perfectly. To go alongside them, we ordered the broccolini, dirty hash browns, and truffle fries. All of the sides were solid, but the dirty hash browns were definitely my favorite of the three. We also got to try all of the steak sauces they offered, which was a nice bonus to the meal.

Yes, I will be there next month with my whole gang celebrating with me on my special day! Our reservations were early, arriving on time @ 5:30 it was a bit quiet with only two other tables, but not for long. In no time every single table was filled. The restaurant was busy and the wine was a'flowin'! This quaint and very special restaurant reminds me of a small restaurant in San Diego in the 1980's, "Ciao Bella". It was located downtown on 4th Ave., it was also chef-owned. When you dine at a chef owned restaurant you are most likely destined for greatness, or a great meal! This is the case at Angela's Kitchen 'Carbon', because there is pure authenticity in her dishes and a whole lotta' love delivered in each plate. The subtle, warm decor is welcoming and the music is played at the perfect level. Just the right ambiance. Once seated, you'll be promptly greeted and the attentive wait staff will have your wine delivered pronto. What a selection they have. I started with the prosecco and moved on to the Sangiovese which complimented my pappardelle perfectly. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and had the Montepulciano Abate Pietro. The delivery of their fresh bread with garlicky pesto, and another with tomato, which I think was a focaccia. Just amazing. We asked for olive oil to compliment the bread: it was the very best of quality with a dark Sicilian olive green hue and the smoothness with the polyphenols and antioxidants dancing in my mouth. Yum! I asked for a side of Parmigiano and they brought a nice square ramekin full of finely grated cheese, Perfection!! These are the details that make me fall in love with a restaurant, causing me to return again and again. Both of our entrees were executed perfectly, the vegetables were grilled leaving a slight char, and the salmon was grilled just right leaving a tender center. My pappardelle was dressed in the deepest, richest mushroom + beef cheek fusion of flavors with whispers of some kind of red wine like maybe the Nero d'Avola that they feature on the menu. WoW!! This is a dish that you want to take your time savoring. Every bite surpassed the last, and then a sip of the Sangiovese and I was in fresh pasta heaven. Just when we were winding down and reeling from being overwhelmed by the amazing food, Angela came to our table with cannoli. It too was amazing! This was such a kind and unexpected gesture from the chef/owner. Grazie mille, a domani!

Overall: sexy ambiance with live music & a great dinner spot…read more We walked in on on Saturday night at 8 PM after doing some returns at the mall when we were offered a table in the bar area, which was an adorable corner booth. I was really impressed that u had a place to set my feet on because I'm very short and normally have a hard time with regular bar seats. There are a lot of cute touches like that. Hooks to hold your purse, etc. I was loving the soulful music which I thought was from a playlist so I used Shazam in order to capture the song. However, the music started to sound live so I walked around...only to find it was coming from a very talented woman named Marianne across the bar. Service was friendly, but we both noticed other tables were a bit ignored or slow to be served. We ordered a few margaritas. Cesar salad with chicken and the lobster arrabbiata with table-side Parmesan. The food was great. I'm not a big focaccia lover but there's was the best I've ever had. It was warm, light, airy, fluffy, and came with this amazing butter AND olive oil, balsamic rosemary. We used the bread to dip into the leftover pasta sauce. We ordered margaritas. He picked the place, and after I reviewed the menu once he had made the reservation, I was excited to dine here. Even though we were seated on the patio, the first thing I noticed is how LOUD this restaurant is...even outdoors. It's even louder inside because I poked my head in just to see what the decor is like. On the patio, it was so loud, we practically had to shout at one another from across the table just to be heard. It is very distracting, and the noise levels contribute overall to a lack of ambiance. Simply stated, the acoustic here are terrible. The second thing I noticed is how EXPENSIVE this joint is, even for an upscale steakhouse. $22 ($18 plus a $4 surcharge for "loaded") for a loaded baked potato? Come on, now. That's outrageous. For my entree, I ordered the 16-ounce ribeye ($74) with a gorgonzola crust ($8 extra), and it came to my table lukewarm because it had been sitting on the hot plate for too long, so I sent it back. If I'm ordering an $82 piece of meat, it better be delivered to me SIZZLING and cooked properly. When my second steak arrived, it was only a little bit hotter, but not much. In addition, the kitchen gave me a piece of beef that was NOT 16 ounces (more like 12 ounces)...and it was riddled with way too much fat/gristle. To add insult to injury, the chef was quite skimpy with the gorgonzola cheese, so I just let it go. What a travesty when a steakhouse doesn't know how to properly cook and serve beef...and then charges guests an arm and a leg for less-than-mediocre food. To be fair to The Amalfi Llama, the manager on duty did come to my table to personally handle my complaint, and she also served the second steak to me herself. In addition, the restaurant removed the steak from my bill, but by that time, the damage had been done. I won't be returning...ever. When it comes to steakhouses, I'd much rather go to Ruth's Chris, Morton's and The Palm any day of the week...both of which are far more consistent and worth the money.
