We needed to cover a 90 sq ft wall with ledger tile. Our tile floor also needed to be patched…read more The job was made difficult by 6 floating shelves and a bar with supporting brackets that would be mounted on the wall after it was tiled. Since the surface of the ledger stone is rough and uneven, we decided to have the tile wrap around the shelves. We placed plywood placeholders on the wall where tile was to wrap. Getting an estimate from Lawrence was easy. I just sent him a few photos. He showed up the next morning at precisely 7:30am to confirm his opinion of the job. He suggested that a 1/8" gap should be maintained around the shelves to prevent cracking the tiles under load. He also mentioned that the ledger stones were not perfectly square and that one needed to constantly check level as the tile is installed. Lawrence left and soon emailed me a formal quote with the price unchanged. I accepted and he arrived the next morning with his assistant and everything he needed to start work at 7:30am. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the tile went up. There was no wasted motion and they had installed the last tile by 4:30 that same day. Even their clean up routine was precise and orderly. And they left the job site clean. I paid Lawrence in full at the end of the first day. He returned the next day, on a Saturday, to grout the repaired floor tile while we we away. You can trust Lawrence to keep his word. He's Old School.

Joe is incredibly professional and knowledgeable about every aspect of flooring installation. Despite the tremendous amount of work involved, he took the time to really prep the floors and completed the entire project by himself. After contract signed for the work - including labor, almost everything we wanted done - which was routine replacement of what he knew we removed because he did the demo, had an excuse that was "this is the one thing I don't do" or "It's not in the bid". Seriously? We hired you for 8 weeks and you could not install a closet rod? Agreed one room would be done at a time completely finished instead so we could move tiny s around and at one point took off all the doors had no privacy even in our bathrooms not one room is completely finished but not worth the aggravation. After we agreed to a weekly payment schedule he tried to get 50 % ($23,500) up front. Thank God we did not agree and ended up stuck with results because our house is not even close to being finished. Part 2 after reading his response just now I completely forgot to mention the yelling & screaming swearing in my home with my door closed a friend could hear him over the phone asked if I was ok. I felt unsafe with this guy having meltdowns. Nothing is fabricated I don't like putting someone's business down at all, just our experience nothing is fabricated

We started this by receiving his bid in February and it seemed high to have $13000 just for the…read morepainting of the interior of the house but we went with it because he did a good job installing a door and a window previously. Total bid was $47000 and stated that it included labor but we found out labor was extremely selective to what he felt like doing to include installing drawers, installing towel racks, installing a shower glass door, installing closet doors, etc. The list goes on and on. On the start day - we spent $600 to bring out a bin for the waste from the demo and he shows up; did no work - just walked around the house and left in an hour. Could have saved money and a day for more storage of debris on the demo. His bid stated he would be at work 8-2 every day. On the first actual work day - showed up and stayed until around noon and left. Did that a few times. Came up with reasons to take Fridays off - including Good Friday - everyone I know still works that day. Found out later he used mahogany on the cabinet top instead of the underlayment plywood because it was $30 cheaper per board. Needless to say this guy was a huge disappointment. I'm sure he'll argue this review like each negative review received from the posts I've read here, but it is what it is. He cursed and yelled the F word in my home when it was just my wife here - that was totally uncalled for. Broke our outdoor water faucet, left it on for hours, and it took yelling at him to get him to admit it - he fixed it and acted like it was not a big deal but it is when you're paying for the water. When some of the new cabinet doors were installed crooked - he blamed it on the manufacturer. One of our front windows was framed crooked - he fixed it but blamed it on the house. We finally parted ways with one bathroom left undone and another untouched. Unprofessional as hell. Issues just went on and on. I could go on and on but it's really not worth the time. I think you get the picture. Mahalo. Interesting how you never address the actual work done in your reply - I still have areas to paint after finishing my kitchen ceiling and texture/paint in the front bathroom. No fabrications made.

Sean is certainly capable of 4-star workmanship, but he doesn't deserve any stars based upon my recent experience of him abandoning our $20,000 job. After walking off our job he promised to refund the $6,000 deposit, then he changed his mind and made demands, then threatened me with a lawsuit. His outrageous temper and behavior shocked us and I will have him arrested if he ever shows up here. I've just learned that collection of my deposit is unlikely. In this year of 2026 Sean has refused to pay a First Circuit judgment (1DRC-25-0006744 - Juliana Simone, v. In a similar court case 1RC161003207, the homeowner and Sean cannot post online comments, so you can't learn about it here. Sean M. Canfield and his wife, Lisa Canfield, owed the IRS $35,000 in unpaid taxes resulting in a lien on their home. If the IRS cannot collect after many years, what chance does a homeowner like me have against him? He texted me "My wife is the CFO for Goodsill Law Firm" implying that he has the upper hand in financial and legal matters. Before you give any money to Sean, be aware that he might abandon your project and never pay you back. It happened to me and it could happen to you. Be sure to read the 1-star reviews here for the most accurate information. -Sean was the cheapest but I wish I never used him. -Nobody stole his equipment, that's a lie. -I've never posted a review before, but decided the public needed to know about this person to save themselves from the time, expense, and brain damage we've had to endure. I hope Sean never takes advantage of another person in our community. -he was screaming and yelling at us and slamming our front door, we locked the door because we were afraid of him. Police came and were apologizing to me for having to deal with Sean and gave it to him. -I have ample texts and audio of Sean completely going off the rails, and on some occasions making veiled threats. I'm not sure if I can share them on Yelp, but if anyone doubts my review, feel free to reach out and I will share them. Sean also attempted to pay me to remove my Yelp review, which I refused. -I would highly recommend NOT letting Sean refinish your floors. He completely wrecked our downstairs floor, didn't finish the upstairs, and simply took our money and quit. -it was obvious this guy was a talker and a salesman with very little real knowledge about hardwood flooring. Take heed of some of the other reviews and go with a real pro. -Anytime I bring up issue with floor he got worked up and blamed us. If can, use someone else, if no can use Sean. He not real good. -Called multiple times and left messages and no call back. Better to go with someone else that actually wants to work -I just read Sean's response which is not true. I wrote this review to help others, I have no reason to lie. -cost over $6,000. I asked Sean to give me a partial refund for the living room floors and he refused. I filed a case with RICO and they said that I would have to take him to court to get any money back. -have to pay someone else around $3000.00 to have their supposedly guaranteed work fixed. Oh and don't mention to Sean about writing a bad review cause when we did he screamed at us! Horrible work and customer service. You should be ashamed Sean! -Feels like I was conned by this company. They did not repair the damaged floor and covered with darker color coating. Still showed scratches that was supposed be gone with money I paid. Horrible job and bad attitude. -We knew then you were trying to set up more of a scam. You have decided to "mess" with the wrong people Sean. You are a sorry example for anyone that aspires to be a business owner. Your inability to take ownership of a mistake made by you or a mistruth stated by you projects your true colors. Complete and total dishonesty. Despicable. -"this is Sean with Finishing Touch Hardwood Floors. Hey your damn wife left a shit as ah ah review on Yelp, real nasty. You know what, she's a real nasty woman, man. You know what, I'm going to have my lawyer contact you real soon. So, you better either get that off of Yelp or you guys are going to be dealing with my lawyer. I swear to God, I'm going to call my lawyer is you don't take that off of Yelp". -Terrible!
