I bought my house in Sherman Oaks in 1997 and while I was out of town on work for a couple months…read moreshortly after moving in, El Nino hit. Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. Lia, especially, was incredible--always available, always clear, and patient in explaining every step. On came out to inspect the roof and pointed out the various problems on the roof, and suggested a full replacement on the bathroom section. I also inquire about work on our garage (though it's not leaking, but it's in need of replacement). On gave me an estimate of work for both garage and bathroom in a terrific value; I was shocked initially since no other contractor has given me such a reasonable estimate. Written and later official estimate was given, and the cost, part, work was exactly as quoted (aside from plywood needed for the garage) On is very genuine and respectful. He maintains a very high level of communication, and you just feel greatly welcomed when talking to him. Out of the 4 days of work done, On is pretty much there every day to inspect and verify proper work is done by the crew. When the crew do finish their work at the end of each day, there is NO mess left behind in the house/garden. Everything is cleaned up and nearly placed by the wall. My wife was shocked and commented that the yard was cleaner than the day before. AAA Expert Roofing did a fantastic job in my home repair, and I'm glad I ve selected them.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

My 1960s kitchen needed a major makeover. Prior to selecting a contractor for my renovation I searched Pinterest and many magazines for inspiration. I quickly realized my standard kitchen update is going to need a full custom overhaul that will consist of all new plumbing electrical, custom built cabinetry, and flooring. After interviewing 5 different contractors for our extensive kitchen remodel project, I finally decided to hire artisan build group. What set the company apart from the others in the beginning was how highly recommended the provided references spoke of artisan group. I actually got to see their work first hand thanks to some welcoming past clients. To briefly express my gratitude and the quality of work, artisan group was nothing short of perfect. Crews should up on time, worked very efficiently and focused deeply on the details. Everything is actually perfect when it comes to how they executed the work. Cabinetry work by Rigo was phenomenal. Miguel and Alex's tile work is unbelievable. They leveled everything prior to make sure once the tile is in evert cut is symmetrical. To start off to anyone reading this, please note it's regarding my home in valley village, California. I initially contacted 6 companies in total to receive estimates on my full interior home remodel. 2 companies never responded so I had to contact some additional places to get the general rule of thumb, 3 bids. Artisan build group popped up on my searches, probably because they were local, which is always a good thing. Called the number and someone answer right away. The office assistant Peter asked some question and scheduled my appointment right away. Two days later I met with Michael, the owner. From our first meeting, I already knew he was the perfect fit for the job. He was on time, provided me with a detailed proposal, noted every single detail, and went the extra mile to note special requirements. The project went very well. Nothing I can really complain about. The installers showed up on time, and Michael would always be on top of every task and made sure it went accordingly. Everyone in the company made me feel they truly wanted what's best for me. And I sincerely appreciate the unique approach of implementing some energy saving upgrades along with my remodel. My home not only looks so much better now, but also feels better. What an awesome company to work with! They really have their things together compared to some other company's I met with prior to choosing artisan build group for my interior remodel and some home energy upgrades. Everything is top quality when it comes to their services, workmanship, and product selection. They do not cheap out on anything. I had my kitchen completely remodeled with new flooring, lighting, plumbing relocation, hardwood flooring, custom cabinets, new countertops and new appliances. I knew big projects would take slightly longer then expected and Michael made sure to stick close to the schedule. Miguel and Rigo were amazing and are true craftsman! My final project was a roof replacement and solar system installation. I went with a cool roof and again, Michael executed the job flawlessly! Cleaned up every single day, used the best materials and finished the job very fast! Save the best for last because the solar installation was very good on cost and phenomenal installation from the crew! Start to finish with inspection took 3 days. Within 3 weeks my solar was turned on and I couldn't be more thrilled. Will certainly be recommending to friends and family! read more

I have been shopping around for some time for a solar system for my house in the valley. I'm a ladwp customer and the bills have been getting ridiculous. After doing some research online I came across artisan build group. I called to schedule a meeting and within the same week of calling Michael came out to my property. He did a full energy inspection report and showed me all the benefits of solar and why his products are superior. I definitely compared it to other companies and did my research further. It was proven the products he was using are much better. Very thankful for his knowledge and guarantee to only use the best products. Upon the start of my solar, I was advised my hvac system was on its final years and that it should be replaced not only to increase the homes efficiency, but to create better comfort. Thank you Michael for the attention. Of course the companies technicians took care of my new hvac system installation. I got an amazing price with great financing they provided me with. My house was recently remodeled and I had some major changes done. Kitchen remodel bathrooms were remodeled, stairs and plenty more... After I received plans from my architect I got to work on finding a contractor who I can trust, who's attentive, and efficient. Artisan group stood out from the rest. Michael was very detailed and I can tell was quite knowledgeable and experienced. The project proposal was very clean and professional, and the contracts had nothing hidden, very straight forward. Once work started, the crews really went to work! I had all rough done within 1 week and once inspection passed they started flying through drywall work along with flooring. The crews are extremely trustworthy and don't miss details in every piece of work they're doing. The way they do things is to not only make an impression, but to last too. I recently had my home efficiency project completed by artisan group. Michael was extremely professional in every part of home energy upgrades. Upon our first meeting, he did a very extensive home energy audit. After the audit was complete, he ran all the information through special energy calculation software programs to see how I can be more efficient, and in what areas. It was then determined I needed to switch my hvac system in order to lower my electrical consumption. Since my roof was 20 years old, that needed to be replaced as well. But it was replaced with a cool-roof, so my home wouldn't get as hot as it normally did. All these upgrades automatically dropped my consumption which resulted in me needing a much smaller solar system then what I initially needed. I'm very thankful for his attention to detail and being technologically advanced with proper tools for testing. Would recommend to everyone in need! read more

I recently had my Northridge rental property full remodeled. The exterior was upgraded with new windows, new paint, along with new siding. The interior work consisted of 2 bathroom remodel and a full kitchen change. The contractor Michael knows products very well. He offered to install a leak barrier for the exterior prior to doing any work. I guess that helps with efficiency and keeps the walls from wood damage and termites. The window installed was super fast by the crew and very carefully. When it comes to the interior, I have never been more excited for something!!! The crew rocked everything tremendously. Very good attention to detail. The tile crew tested 3 different grout colors in 3 different areas that had different tile prior to fully installing the bathroom tile. Artisan Build Group is a 5-star company! Michael is such a professional, genuine, and honest guy. His team is beyond amazing for bathroom remodeling. I had such a bad experience with a previous contractor who installed with subway tiles in one of our bathrooms, but Michael and his guys did such an amazing job and no issues. My husband works in other people's home all the time and has said that our bathroom is by far the best job he has seen, in terms of the quality and workmanship that was done. Our whole bathroom was remodeled. We removed a wall and widened the shower by a foot. Remodeling is almost always stressful but with Michael there every day ensuring and coordinating his team, everything flowed smoothly. The artisan team couldn't come in more handy and at a perfect timing! Due to all the rains we have recently received, i started noticing a lot of leaks that started popping through the drywall! I called up several companies in the middle of a rain storm and not only did no one want to come out, but some even said they would charge me just to come out. Artisan build group stood out from everyone else. They were willing to come out, during the rain, for free! The roof quickly got assessed and turns out it was severely damaged. I got it temporary patched during the rain, and once the weather cleared we went ahead and got it replaced! Super fast, clean, hard working, and efficient crew! Not only did he closely work with his architect in achieving the best possible layout, but he also made sure it was cost effective. I had spent months receiving quotes from solar companies and was very fortunate to have artisan build group be one of them. From the first time meeting Michael I felt he was the perfect fit. No pressure, no time limits in order to get the best deal. He provided accurate, fair pricing, top quality materials, great time frame, and even provided customer references. I gave them my solar business and ended up having them replace my roof too. They bundled everything together and it made sense financially. Artisan build group and Michael managed my remodeling project flawlessly! I couldn't be more excited with the results and am so eager to now host parties in my newly remodeled home! The tile tech Frank is absolutely absolutely a master of his craft! He competed almost 2000 square feet of floor and bathroom wall tile in less then 2 weeks! Omar was very careful with the wood working and extremely pleased with how the custom cabinets came out! Paint crew was clean and fast as well as the electrical side, which now I'll probably switch to solar too. Inspections went by with a blink of an eye! We had a small kitchen remodeled. After speaking with four contractors and we were most comfortable with Mike from Artisan Build Group because he understood what we wanted. Finding a trustworthy contractor for a simple remodel is a very big challenge on its own in la. After meeting with multiple companies to remodel my parents bathroom I thought I was out of luck, because everyone is just a sleazy salesman. All that changed after I contacted artisan build group. Highly recommend this company for roofing and or window work. Very fair pricing, good materials being used and crews are actually on time. I was in the process of going with another company but they started acting shady demanding more money before even pulling permits. They even had 3 different roofers come out to measure. Big red flag. After ending it with the shady company I started doing research and called artisan group. Michael came out and did a full site measurement, and checked the roof thoroughly. Once this pandemic started I was so paranoid about having my house worked on. It's something that was in desperate need so I couldn't wait. Michael and his crew were so professional and went about the job very well. We have been holding off on installing solar since we moved in to our house a few years ago. Nick reached out following an…read moreinquiry through Yelp to make some repairs to our detached garage, though we had several additional projects in mind. The house we had just bought previously belonged to a blacksmith, and he turned the backyard into a workshop, meaning there were steel beams reinforcing roofed structures and concrete everywhere. It basically looked like an industrial wasteland, and we dreamed of someday turning it into a yard that our kids could play in. We had corresponded with several other contractors before Nick, and we felt wary about someone taking advantage of us, so we planned to keep our cards close to our chest. The original thought was to see if the contractor who did our garage repairs would be a good fit for the rest of our work. During the consultation visit, Nick seemed knowledgeable about what would go into the garage repairs we were asking for. When we mentioned that we also wanted demolition and landscaping someday, Nick described the scope of work in a way that more closely aligned with our vision than other contractors' ideas. For example, we had several contractors tell us that we should demolish our garage and rebuild from scratch or move the structure to the other side of the yard; Nick respected our wish to build on the existing structure in order to respect our budget. He described demolition to the blacksmith workshop in a similar way, and we liked the proposal he sent to us, so we decided to move forward. What really has me writing this review and raving about this experience was the relationship we developed with Nick after work began. Nick told us in the beginning that he was going to treat us like his family, and he 100% honored that. We were still getting to know this new house we had just moved into, and as we noticed problems in the house that needed attention, Nick offered us options (with pricing) for how to proceed on fixes, if we wanted to fix at all. For example, our plumbing inspection report found that the main sewer line could maybe benefit from being reinforced. Nick had his plumbing guys take a more in-depth look at the pipe, gave us a price to possibly reinforce it, and gave his honest thoughts on the state of the pipe. He told us that if this were his house, given how the pipe currently looks, he probably wouldn't make that repair. There were several other instances over the course of the work in which Nick proved himself to be an honorable man. When everything was said and done, Nick and the ABC team repaired our garage, demolished the blacksmith workshop and replaced it with a travertine patio plus sod, installed irrigation for the landscaping, re-drilled for the pipes under our house to make our kitchen sink work better, fixed our existing side gate on one side of the house and installed a new side gate on the other, did a major repair to our gate at the back of the property, built a deck for the backyard, and did it all within our original budget. The icing on the cake was Nick buying diapers for us when my wife went into labor at the very end of our work together. We'll have Nick over to meet our babies, and we'll definitely go through him again if we want more work in the future.

And then there's all the legality and the clearances that you have to deal with when it comes to the city of La. And you have to be patient to see what and where they will allow you to build on the property. When we originally spoke to Nick he told us to pick a good engineer and architect. He was so right because it made the biggest difference when we had the right team. After we got our plans approved Nick was our go to contractor to build the house. All of them did extremely high quality work and obviously took pride in their crafts. They were professional and respectful, committed to excellence, and consulted with me directly where needed, providing suggestions and ideas for me to consider. We did not have any problem passing the permit inspections. Friends and family were surprised and impressed to hear how much work I got done on time and reliably, given the horror stories that seem to be so common with home remodeling. I'm delighted with my house, and I will definitely use Shay again for additional work on my property.
