Hiring Jacob from Concept Renovation to remodel our bathroom was one of the worst decisions we've ever made. From start to finish, the experience was a nightmare. Jacob showed up to sell us on the job, then virtually disappeared. He made maybe one other appearance during the entire project (oh, perhaps to pick up a check!). We asked for a discount when we first negotiated the price, which in hindsight was a huge mistake because it seems we got the "C team" as a result. It turns out Jacob doesn't even employ his own team--he just subs out the work to random contractors and slaps Concept Renovation t-shirts on them to create the illusion of a professional crew. While the workers themselves were polite, the lack of accountability and oversight was glaring. And it wasn't just oversight--the people he sent to the job were, frankly, incompetent. The stone fabricator clearly didn't know what they were doing, and Jacob had to send a second tiler after the first one botched the job. It felt like he was just throwing "not best in class" people at our project without any care or consideration for quality. As for Jacob? Every interaction with him was unpleasant--his attitude was dismissive and condescending. Fast forward three years, and the bathroom is falling apart. The walls around the shower are decaying from water damage, and when we reached out to Jacob to address it, he immediately deflected blame. He claimed the issue was with the shower door, which he conveniently says isn't his responsibility--even though he was the one who outsourced the company to install it. Worse still, it's clear they skipped important steps that could have made the shower area more waterproof, and not once did they suggest better options during the project. Concept Renovation is the definition of unprofessionalism, poor craftsmanship, and zero accountability. If you care about your home, your money, or your sanity, look elsewhere. EDIT:-------------------- I feel the need to respond to Jacob's comments regarding the timeline and wear and tear. Yes, the project was completed 3.5 years ago (the review mentions 3), but I'm not sure why that matters. As for the claim that the issues are simply due to wear and tear, we have another bathroom in the property that was remodeled before this one, and it is in significantly better condition--proving that this is not just normal aging but rather poor craftsmanship. Did they use the proper drywall for wet areas? No. Did they properly seal all areas? No. Did they use the correct baseboards for wet areas? No. Did they advise us on potential water damage risks? No. Unfortunately, these oversights have led to significant problems, which is why I stand by my opinion that the work was not done to a high standard.

Nightmare Experience- Terrible Communication, Disorganized, Being Treated Rudely in Our Own Home, and Average Results. Our project was two bathrooms and a fireplace removal. We had to cancel the second bathroom halfway because the experience was overwhelming. Besides some initial delays due to materials and permits, the contractor, Phil, often took random leave, 2 to 3 days per week, and even once for nearly a full week without providing any explanation. When we followed up, both Phil and the project manager, Max, blamed the delays on our material orders; however, he took time off without even checking the material status with us. Scheduling was a mess. We'd be told someone was coming the same day, then get time changes midday, or be told someone would come tomorrow and not hear anything until they didn't show. It was hard to tell who the actual client was. We raised these concerns and saw minor improvements for a couple of days--but then everything slipped right back to chaos. The most upsetting moment came when my husband casually asked a coworker about the progress and next steps--out of curiosity, not criticism. Phil overheard and suddenly yelled at him in our own home. He is 5' 10", about 200lbs. It escalated fast and left me so shaken that I had a panic attack and had to leave the house. I ended up needing therapy, and to this day, I feel anxiety just walking into the newly remodeled bathroom. Eventually, we decided to terminate the rest of the project and informed Max. However, the invoice they sent still included charges for the second bathroom and for electrical work that was never done. After two rounds of negotiation, we got a corrected quote. Their finance team responded quickly--but that was the only consistently professional part of the experience. One last thing: after removing a closet frame, Phil left the ceiling and floor messy and promised to fix it--never did. We had to ask Max to send someone else in to repair and paint it properly. The quality of the work? Passable - it looks okay at first glance(based on the materials that we selected by ourselves), but closer inspection reveals a lack of attention to detail. If you're considering this company, be aware: you may end up managing the project yourself while living in a high-stress, poorly managed construction site, and a borderline hostile experience in your own home.

I'm not a big Yelper but some people are just so stellar at what they do that it's worth telling the masses. 4 of my neighbors recommended Jacob... and with good reason. I've done 3 major renovations in the last 3 years and they've all had issues- except for the work done with Concept Renovations. Beautiful work, done in record time, easy and quick communication. Jacob, Val and team are who you need to be working with. Completed our whole guest house in under 4 months, and sometimes sent us workers 7 days a week so we could be complete in time for the birth of our baby. 100/10 experience.

All the tiles are loose and turns out they weren't installed properly. All tiles are now garbage and need to start over.

The absolute worst. Jacob was super present when bidding the job and then disappeared and there was zero supervision.... Flash forward to 6 years later and the entire tile floor needs to be replaced in a non primary bathroom. Turns out the tiles weren't installed properly. Have tried several times to have a conversation and have Jacob come up and see the situation but he has been non responsive. Really awful work. I would run as far from the guy . Zero accountability.

We had Max and Phil work with us on creating a beautiful design of our master bathroom. We are very very happy with how the bathroom design turned out. Also we appreciated the design suggestions from both Max and Phil who guided us a long the process. We highly recommend their services because they are great about open communications with their clients. Overall, great work and I would contact them again in the future.

We hired Finesse Remodeling to re-do our very tiny galley kitchen in January. After interviewing 3…read moreother contractors, we decided to go with Avi and Finesse because he showed the most enthusiasm and excitement for our project. I loved his attitude- he came in so full of joy, and never lost that joy throughout the project. You can tell he loves what he does. He was the only contractor who seemed to really hear me when I said what I had hoped for, and then he pitched his own ideas along those lines. We took almost all his ideas- which were really innovative and interesting. He followed up with me a couple days after the estimate (the only contractor to do so), and I figured if he was that interested in the job, his company would definitely do it well- I was right. A lot of the other contractors we interviewed made us feel like the job was too small for them, but we never felt that way with Avi and his crew. He always answered our calls or texts- which is actually pretty rare in this business. He was very responsive- never shirking responsibility- and definitely willing to fix any problems that came up during the whole process. That being said, there were a few problems. The project ended up taking about 2 weeks longer than originally estimated, and also cost quite a bit more. Some of that was just the nature of upgrading an 85 year old house (we had cloth wiring that needed to be entirely ripped out and replaced, and that process probably delayed our "simple" remodel by about 1 week.) Unfortunately, we also had some issues with the custom cabinets not being the right size, but Avi got the cabinet company to come back and make the fixes. The window sills were supposed to be made of the backsplash granite, but there was an issue with the measurements for that too, and we ended up with wooden sills instead. They still look great. This was my first experience with remodeling, and after talking to several friends who have had much worse experiences, it seems my issues were rather minor and not out of the ordinary. The most important thing is that Avi responded to and corrected all of the issues in a timely manner. In the end, all that really matters is the finished product. And the finished kitchen is truly beautiful! Avi's team, Luis and his son, were outstanding. You could tell they take a lot of pride in what they do, and they never half-assed any part of the remodel- the floor, the replacement dry wall, the trim, the window sills, the painting- it was all done with a lot of care and pride in making it right! The whole kitchen is gorgeous now, and I am extremely happy with it. I would definitely hire Avi & the Finesse team again!! GREAT JOB!

Are you looking for a reliable contractor for a major (or minor) remodel? If so, look no…read morefurther--though you should still get a few quotes. Avi was one of several contractors we considered for a full kitchen gut and remodel. He wasn't the cheapest, nor was he the most expensive. What stood out was that he was honest, straightforward, genuinely funny, and easy to work with. We ultimately chose Avi because of his strong reviews and his consistent follow-up while we were deciding. He made us feel confident that he would be dedicated to the project from start to finish--and he absolutely was. His team was professional and very clean. They cleaned up at the end of every workday. Avi never disappeared and was always available by phone, text, or in person. He and his team were responsive, kind, and easy to work with, and the project was completed within the quoted budget and on time. Did we learn things we'd do differently next time? (Let's hope there is no next time!) Yes--mostly about cabinetry. For example, some drawers that appear standard depth from the front actually have a support track underneath. While this adds sturdiness, it reduces usable drawer depth. Next time, we'd measure more carefully--and you should too. Avi was never short on ideas for solving problems, drawing on his experience and expertise. That's exactly what you want in a contractor. At the same time, he never pushed his own ideas if we had a different vision. He made it clear that we, as homeowners, were the final decision-makers. We're very happy we chose Avi and fully intend to work with him again when we're ready to remodel our bathrooms. Attached are photos of our original 1979 kitchen and the finished result.

Once we finalized our design, MC was able to provide a floor plan and some alternates to consider. This process was quick and smooth, and designs were submitted to the city within a couple of weeks. Our Project included the following three (3) phases: 1. Home Addition - adding 1.5 bathrooms, 1 bedroom and den (~400 sq. ft.) 2. Driveway Replacement 3. Garage Foundation Re-footing After plans were approved, the Project Manager/Owner (Mike) came to introduce himself and the team. Work began the next day. The project scope was estimated to take 6 - 8 months, they completed it in 5 months. The PM and Contractor team was quick to provide updates and answer any questions or concerns during the process. Communication was great. Whenever issues with the home were found, honest recommendations were provided, with no pressure. And also, any minor adjustments were made upon request. Everything went as well as it possibly could. That doesn't come without organization, attentiveness and hard work from the contractor team, so thank you! When we consulted Sharon with our project, he had a "can do" mindset and really listened to what I wanted while also giving solid advice. I've had bad luck with contractors before and been gaslit at times, but Sharon's approach of having an actual conversation and putting the customer first made us go with his team. While most remodels require you to acquire materials on your own, Sharon connected us with Tile and Shower door folks (and they also had nothing but good things to say about him). I appreciate how he'd always check in to make sure we have all the items ready (i.e. vanity, toilet, etc.), and he'd always drop in to check on the progress. Eddie and his team were absolute professionals and do everything with care and precision. Really liked how he'd always double-check things with us down to the smallest detail (e.g. paint colors, door hinges, etc.). Pricing, I'd say they're within average of the estimates we received. Totally worth it and highly recommend them. Next time I have another big project, I'm definitely reaching out to them.
