Recently, Abraham at Popular Bathroom completed a fairly significant bathroom remodel in a condo owned by my wife. We were down to the studs, plus had to address flooring and wall repairs extending to other rooms. The result was excellent, and I am very happy with how the entire process went. - They specialize in bathrooms, but were able to also paint the unit, install new flooring, and even repair an AC duct that was leaking from the outside. - It was very important to me that everything be done by the book, permits obtained, all to code, etc. Abraham was on top of all of that. - In the middle of the job, we discovered a leak from a neighboring condo unit. This caused significant delays, which Abraham very graciously accommodated without complaint. In general, communication during this multi-month job was excellent. - The new custom bathroom looks fantastic. - I obtained three estimates which were all very similar. So, price is competitive. They were totally accommodating. What a relief! The entire job took just over 4 weeks, even with Thanksgiving holiday in the timeline, which was amazing. The bathroom was 30 years old and needed a facelift. I was extremely impressed with the demo job -- the workers sealed off our entire living room and kitchen so that dust and debris didn't fly everywhere, and they cleaned up immaculately when they were done. Plus, they were FAST. His tile team did AWESOME work, I am obsessed with how well the shower and floor tiles came out. The attention to detail is seriously top notch. Then the walls were smoothed and painted, shower door installed, then vanity and shower/sink fixtures installed. It felt really nice to have that kind of treatment and attention to detail. At the end there was one ridge in the drywall that needed to be re-sanded and repainted and it was corrected swiftly and seamlessly. Recently, an elderly family member needed assistance in dealing with a leaking shower issue and the anticipated complete replacement of his fifty year old shower. What can I say that hasn't already been said about Abraham and his team at Popular Bathroom? If I could give more stars I would. Abraham is the most professional, knowledgeable and friendliest person my wife and I have had working at our house. Earlier last year we had mold in our shower. After it was remediated we went through the normal business of getting quotes as well as a sense of the work. Our walls and floor were tiled and, since the bathroom was close to 20 years old, every company we met with said we needed to drywall the walls and replace the floor. Most of the quotes (save one insanely expensive company) were in the same range. We weren't sold on any company and decided to keep looking. Luckily, I then saw Popular Bathroom on Yelp. My wife and I booked an appointment with Abraham and knew within five minutes he was our guy. He walked us through all of the work we needed and explained it to us in a way that was easy to understand. The clincher was that he said he could reuse some of the tile from the wall to replace the missing pieces on the floor. He was the only person that said that. Abraham's quote was reasonable but the best part about it was how the payments were structured based on the stages of work completed. We could see it all laid out so that we knew where we were in the process. He explained all additional costs such as permits and the 3rd party vendor for the shower enclosure, door, hardware and handles. The main deviation from the bid was that we decided to put in a recessed medicine cabinet which required additional electrical and plumbing work. Abraham quickly provided a quote which we accepted and we didn't have an overage. We bought most of the materials for the remodel (shower tile, all fixtures, vanity, medicine cabinet, etc) and Abraham was great in providing an extra opinion on whether or not they fit in well to the proposed new look. He could explain the pros and cons (cons mainly being additional work costs), helping us make informed decisions. With his vast experience, there's nothing Abraham hasn't seen and no problem that he couldn't overcome to accomplish any bathroom remodel on any property. The crew he works with he's known a long time. Through experience, he's been able to figure out what each person was best at and encouraged them to focus on it. So when he sends his plumber out, or his electrical, or his painter, or his drywall guy etc. you know you're getting great value and quality work. We've spent the last year designing, planning and finally renovating our master bathroom and guest bathroom. Because of my attention to details, the whole thing has been quite an ordeal, but I am happy to say that, thanks to Avi and his team at Popular Bathroom (PB), the experience has been positive and we are very pleased with the results. Our goal was to renovate a "vintage" master bathroom and guest bathroom from a 90's townhome on the Westside. Central to our problem was to relocate a toilet and a bathtub, in order to enlarge a walk-in shower, which is a real challenge on the second floor of a townhome. For this purpose, I have interviewed no less than 17 contractors. Why such overkill? These are expensive projects, there are many ways to approach the problem, and I have no experience in construction. I just needed that much information to educate myself, learn how to spot the clowns amongst the real contractors, and identify those who overcharge. Here's why I chose PB. 1) The owner, Avi, spent 90 minutes during our first meeting, discussing our options for improving the bathroom. He explained how to avoid overcharges, and was willing to go into deep technical explanation regarding how to renovate. A lot of what he said was echoed by the handful of other candidates that appeared the most serious to me. He exhibited a lot of professional credibility, showed that he understood my requirements, and he's just very skilled at interpersonal skills. 2) A lot of contractors offer design services, and therefore end up charging twice as much. With PB, we had to do the design work ourselves (i.e. choosing tiles, bathtub, mirrors, vanity, countertop, coming up with a new layout, etc.), which is fine because it's the fun work from my perspective. It's time consuming, but the result is way more personal and, more importantly, affordable. 3) PB focuses on bathrooms, which was very important to me, because it means their staff is exceptionally experienced at building bathrooms. 4) Finally, when comparing BP's pricing to other contractors, I found the pricing fair. I wouldn't call it affordable (no contractor was), but I didn't feel like I was being gouged. Also, Avi had transparent pricing and a detailed project plan. Almost nobody does that on the Westside, as far as I can tell. What I liked about Avi is that he's figured out his operations. You can expect to have his crew show up at your place on time, and really make some progress week after week. I also liked that he's very flexible. At some point, my countertop guys (who didn't work for Avi) messed up and a new countertop had to be installed. This stopped all work for a couple of weeks. I got not complaints from Avi. He's also impressed me with his willingness to make us happy. I think we've been pretty demanding customers, and he's been totally dedicated to our satisfaction, re-touching certain parts of the work, willing to discuss how to fix an installation problem many times until we found a solution that satisfied us and that was reasonable to execute. He also agreed to fix a couple of other small things that didn't have to do with the project, but that were convenient to do because they involved tiling and painting. We have enjoyed the bathroom over the past six months. The shower is amazing and doesn't leak, unlike its predecessor. The tiles are well aligned and very plumb. So is the floor. Avi has handled pulling all the permits and passing all the inspections. We're ecstatic with the results. Big kudos to Victor for tiling so well. Abraham and his crew did an awesome job with our project. We were moving into a new home and wanted to update all the vanities. They worked well with our changing schedule (since we were have flooring replaced too) and were very responsive and adaptable when we had issues with our vanities arriving on time. It's been over six months and there is still no leaks or any problems with the installation. They also went above and beyond cleaning out the lines from the kitchen sink to the exterior drain pipe. Unknown to us at the time, there was a severe clog that required exterior plumbing work to be done. Because of this clog, all the debris and grease from the previous owners had really reduced the diameter of the kitchen drain line. Abraham and his guys really cleaned it out, which made such a great difference. Their prices were also very reasonable and appropriate. He was also very transparent with his pricing. First things that come to mind about when leaving this review are words like: professional, expert, truth worthy, consultative, helpful, and resourceful. I met with several contractors after starting a project with a non reliable source and now being in time & financial crunch. Abraham aka "Avi" came out, looked at the scope of work, asked good questions, measured out the space & got a visual, and lastly made comments / suggestions. Others came out, talked to me and noticed I had other work around the house and were more worried about landing addiction projects or didn't even make the time to come out at all (virtual quote). Avi and his crew were easy to work with, he only hires tenured employees with good craftsmanship which shows in the final product. Communication is huge after dealing with someone who showed up as he liked and set my project behind, not Popular Bathroom they were very consistent and over communicated. He also remodeled a closet for a washer dryer combo which also served as a closet for the guest room. Abraham and his entire staff are amazing. They do extremely high quality work at reasonable prices. We were slightly concerned going with the lowest bid. He was just a little lower than the others. We asked all of the contractors about switching the positions of the toilet and sink. Everyone else said no problem. Abraham was the only one honest enough to tell us why we shouldn't do it. It had to do with cutting through too many floor joists. One of the reasons we went with him was because he wouldn't say OK just to get our business. The house is a craftsman built in 1918. The shape of the bathroom was difficult to work with due to the valleys in the roof line. Abraham was able to transform it into a space that my wife absolutely loves. Everyone on the staff is professional and easy to work with. They told us ahead of time who was coming, when they would be there, and exactly what they would do for the day. They always showed up on time. They were very careful not to damage my 105 year old floor that leads to the bathroom. Abraham never got upset when we asked for small changes or additions. He did whatever it took to make us happy. We had some severe plaster cracking in a bedroom due to tree roots. Abraham happens to one of the few people in the world that still knows how to work with plaster. He matched the old raked plater perfectly. If you choose Popular Bathroom, insist that Victor does the tile work. He is a tile artist. Our other bathroom had been remodeled by an inferior contractor about ten year earlier. We were so impressed with Victor's work, we asked them to replace the flooring and baseboard in the other bathroom. We new the previous job was bad, but we didn't know how bad until it was demoed.
