We been coming to Arthur's for years. Today we sat and while waiting for our drinks their was a cockroach walking around on the wall. I brought it to the waitress attention and she apologized and said they fumigated yesterday and they are all crazy coming out. (Maybe a good idea to close for weekend to do any additional maintenance) She sat us across from that seat and said she would not sit anyone their. Shortly after a party of four came in and sat their. The gentleman took there drink order and while they were waiting the cockroach made it down to there table, they began a lil commotion trying to catch it and did. The original waitress that moved us approached them and apologized and said let me take that, the napkin with the captured bug. And also mentioned to them about the fumigation the day before, however they were not moved because all seats at that point were being occupied. I knew at that point we should of paid for drinks and left, but we stayed. My poor daughter was grossed out she hardly touched her food. We were never asked if needed any refills. We weren't even done eating and we got our bill. The bill was full price. I paid it and left my tip. Sad to say this will be our last time eating there. read more

This place just looked shady walking in. The table was dusty, including the marmalade jars on the table that were left opened! You can even see a thin layer of dust on it! Disgusting! And it was also way overpriced for a basic breakfast I could of made at home. Never again. read more

Most unprofessional servicer I've ever met Letty!! Breakfast diners are near and far to find these days. Arthur's looked like the perfect place to grab a late breakfast on this lazy Sunday.. However, I was completely wrong.. to start parking is pretty non existent.. okay can deal with that.. but what I can't deal with is Letty seating her friends or family and giving them the golden treatment.. we ordered our food before them and received our food 20 minutes after them.. then half of our order was cold.. it was apparent she was focusing on them more than anyone else.. then the bill came and there was a 3% service fee for cards.. I asked her about it and she was rude and proceed to throw it down on my table.. then she ran out of receipt paper and said the check was spilt in half and it wasn't, my brothers check was less than mine.. overall experience was terrible.. good luck to you and your business.. We have been going to Arthur's for a long time now....that has since changed. We went to Arthur's this past Labor Day and the service was awful I ordered a Breakfast Burrito and I wanted it with ham and cheese and they charged us $1.10 for each additional item....plus the older Latin lsdy that wears glasses got my order wrong and brought me my food with rice and beans....all I wanted was a breakfast burrito and then when she brought out our food it was cold. And the reason it came out cold is that she was jib jabbing and joking around with her coworkers. ..very loud and she was not paying attention to the details of what we ordered. Then the other waitress came into work and just stood there joking around not helping the situation. I asked her if this order is correct and she said that is the way the breakfast burrito comes I was charged for breakfast burrito $8.95 but on the menu it says $4.95. Then we got our bill and she said that Arthur's charges 6% to use a debit or credit card. We were really pissed off that Arthur's does this now.....very disappointed in you Arthurs. Arthur's Restaurant has literally the best breakfast in town! You get a huge serving of food for a relatively decent price. The service is amazing, and they always treat you like family. My food came out cold while the other 2 people sitting at my table came out piping hot. I sat with an empty drink for the entire meal and no offer for refills There is dirty and food on the floor and noticeable food items kicked under the drink machine. I recall coming to this place years ago, maybe it was closer Firestone when I went, but can't really recall, but do recall it was good. Nowadays, like many other places, the food quality has dropped and it is just your normal everyday place, not worth going out of your way to come here. tried the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were good, but the gravy was not. How can you mess up gravy? This gravy had the taste of flour and water and maybe a little salt. Nothing else. I was VERY disappointed. If you still come here, don't say you were not warned. I really only would have rated this place with one star, but the waitress that tended to us was nice and attentive to bringing coffee and water. They charge you 3% of the total bill if you use your credit card. Outrageous & it discourages dining here. The neighborhood itself (bordering Downey & Pico Rivera) is a little concerning. When asked about the charge, the server replied that ALL restaurants do it. NOT! They are the only one that has this practice that I've come across. Even the other (great breakfast) Arthur's in La Habra which USED TO be part of this restaurants says, they do not have any business connections with them and they do not charge extra for credit cards. But in fairness, went to get gas down the street, next to the 5 fwy and they do not even accept credit cards. Must be due to the questionable neighborhood and/or high insurance rates. Either way, not a good business practice. We've taken this place & neighborhood off our list. read more

Good breakfast to stop in and eat, don't recommend the drive thru they over charge me twice in two different visits same asshole. The prices have increase double making my visit shorter to this place that has a great cool drink call Arthur's juice a combination of ice an orange making a icee drink. I've lived in Downey most of my life and been to Arthur's once in the mid 90's. When I went back this morning what a disappointment. $5.50 for instant oatmeal and cold toast. $6.75 For a poached egg and cold potatoes and cold toast. I'm beginning to think there are no good breakfast spots in Downey with the exception of Pepe's on Telegraph (mmm, breakfast burritos) and El Taco on Firestone. The waitress was nice and filled our coffees at the right time. If your in that area and want breakfast, keep walking across the parking lot into the Starbucks. You'll pay the same, but at least Starbuck's food has more flavor. read more

I have been coming to Arthur's for almost two decades now. This review is long overdue. Recently I found myself in a search for Corned Beef Hash. Arthur's in my opinion is the bar for this dish. They make the Corned Beef from scratch and dice it up just enough to get a good balance between texture and flavor. Matched up with the O Brien potatoes I find this dish absolutely delectible. When I drove past and saw a line out the door for breakfast, I knew I had to see what all the commotion was about. As usual, it was about nothing. This small place is nothing special. Not even cheap. The staff is friendly but the food is average. I ordered the pork chop and eggs and was sorry i did. Took few bites of the pork chop...enough to know it wasn't good. my friends were satisfied with their meals but everyone agreed there was no reason to return. After not being there for over 30 years, decided to stop for breakfast. SHOCKED, DISAPPOINTED and grossed out. What happened to this restaurant? Food was awful. Best known to me for their ham and eggs, biscuits and potatoes- and OJ - ham was dry; potatoes were a pile of potatoes with absolutely no seasoning. Eggs looked like I can't even describe. Then the worse thing I've experienced in over 50 years - a roach was crawling on the wall!!!! Waitress got on booth and with a napkin, KILLED it. She didn't look surprised or grossed out-just matter of factly did what it looked like she'd done before. I wanted to throw up what I had eaten and walk out. Waited a while and then left. After handing the waitress my ATM card, go to sign the receipt and I was charged a $1.00 fee. No sign, nothing said about a fee. Grabbed my receipt and walked out.
