The Guide: Carolina Pelayo * Hot Vinyasa Flow * The room was already warm, dark, candle-lit, & peppermint in the air. Carolina invited us to notice our own energy... Maybe even our neighbor's. Then she asked us to ask ourselves: "What do I need from my practice today?" (Good question.) Then... We breathed. We flowed. Somewhere between Skandasanas and a one-legged vinyasa... I accidentally kicked a young man behind me in the head. He smiled. "It's okay." We kept flowing. Carolina closed class the same way she opened it - with intention - inviting us to carry the energy we created into the rest of our week. The Tribe: * A stranger helped me check in. Private bathroom inside the yoga room. Cubbies for your things. Free parking garage if you get there early. Street parking worked just fine for me. The Takeaway: * The studio had a self check-in. So did the class. Only one required a touchscreen.

Walked in today after few years of not being there and took a morning class with one of their teachers. She was very nice, kind, pleasant and knew her job well. They provide mat for $5.00 but, I didn't pay since I had my own mat with me. They also provide knee pads, blocks and bolsters. Bring yourself a bottle of water to hydrate yourself. Class lasted for 55 minutes. Class was not too difficult, and they go with the right pace to accommodate with beginners, and people who have been doing yoga for some time now. I really enjoyed the class and looking forward to going back. They have different prices for different classes and membership. For those who are interested. They also offer an online classes. Check the schedule. Place is clean, it's not too small, and can fit 14 to 17 people. Parking is in the back and that's all I have to say about today's visit. Namaste :-)

After foot surgery and hip surgery, I felt tight, stiff, and honestly intimidated to get my body moving again. This has completely changed that. The myofascial release is amazing--you can literally feel your muscles letting go of years of tension and moving back into proper alignment. The cupping and tissue scraping were incredible too. I walked out feeling looser, more mobile, and like my circulation and posture had already improved. The biggest difference, though, was Johanna. She took the time to understand what my body needed instead of giving me the same treatment everyone else gets. Just by looking at my stance, she was able to explain why I was having certain pain. They're not doctors and don't pretend to be, but their knowledge of body movement is impressive. I've watched them work with other clients, and every session is tailored to the individual, which says a lot about the level of care here. After my second visit, I signed up for the membership because it's reasonably priced, flexible, and doesn't lock you into a long commitment. The facility is also spotless, and it's obvious everyone there takes pride in what they do. I saw an ad on Facebook for 50% of myofascial release and decided to try it out. This was my first experience with myofascial release and did some research ahead of time but I just went in with an open mind. There appears to be a small parking lot on the side of the building that Muscle Lab is in but I wasn't sure so I parked on the street. My appointment was at 10am so there were plenty of spots available. I was greeted right away when I entered and the therapist who was working with me, I think her name was Emma, got me a robe to change into as I was wearing leggings. (make sure you wear shorts if you're getting a full body treatment as they'll work on your quads) Emma was very knowledgeable, sweet, and had a bubbly personality. You could tell she really loved her job and her coworkers. She did myofascial release, which from what I experienced, is applying pressure to areas that are tight and need a release. She also used a heated scraper and did cupping on my shoulders and quads. Compression boots were also part of the service but I was short on time as I went during a work day so I skipped that. If you haven't tried compression boots before, you've got to try it. It feels like a firm hug on your legs and feels great! The pressure applied to my shoulders and the scraping felt good. I am so tight in these areas, any pressure feels nice. The work done on my quads was really painful, I won't lie, but it also felt weirdly good. I think it's because I rarely pay any attention to this area. I felt really good for days after my treatment. Regular massages only bring me relief for a few hours so this was a pleasant surprise. My appointment was about and hour and a half without the compression. I signed up for another myofascial release as well as stretch therapy ( this was also half off) and I can't wait to go back. I'm really hoping with monthly treatments, my neck and shoulders will get somewhat better. Wish me luck!
