The result is a truly energized, positive, and uplifting space where imaginations are unleashed. The gallery hosts a wide variety of solo/group art shows throughout the year, featuring work by both Starlight artists and other local painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, and more. Most include live music, food trucks, and some snacks. The quality of the artwork is always outstanding. And supporting the studio's efforts with a purchase (always very reasonably priced) is a double-plus good--you get great art for your home; the studio gets to keep supporting and training these wonderful artists. If you need a serious feel-good, pick-me-up, head to Starlight. I always feel lighter, happier, and more inspired after a visit.

You'd think the art would reflect that in some way, but I couldn't tell! A lot of the works on display are something that I could only dream of creating. The space is very open and inviting. There is an artist teacher here, Lily who supports and mentors those who are a part of the Starlight Gallery. We had the opportunity to take a class with Jennifer Hastings and her company, Create Flow. This…read moreparticular class was building an herb garden. First, we got to petsonalize and decorate our herb container. The one side was a chalkboard. We were supplied with chalk markers to complete this part of the project. We then filled the container with rocks on the bottom (for drainage) and potting soil. We then added the 3 herbs. They included basil, rosemary, and parsley. Lastly, we added whatever top garnishment you wanted in your pot. Jennifer was great with the instructions for this class and included information on how to care for our herbs at home. She was also super nice. This class was held at Briar Brothers Brewery, so we were able to enjoy a brew while there. Check out her website for a list of upcoming classes & locations. She's multi-talented and offers a variety of classes. These include everything from ceramics, jewelry making, gardening, resin art. Two notable differences from other potters: 1. The glazes include colors like I've not seen, bright and colorful and 2. The inclusion of slab formed mugs. The attention to detail is evident from the inside color of the mugs to the carefully formed handles. Note, there are many beautiful glazes that are not colorful as well, more traditional blues and earth tones. I bought a cheerful mug as a tribute to my late rescue Maltese. I will remember the happiness he brought me over 15 yrs when I have coffee every morning in my new favorite mug. They have free and low cost art classes for kids and adults…read more Each season, they have a selection of scheduled structured classes for which you can register for a small fee. Those classes very season to season- pen and ink animals, print making, special ceramics projects, photography, etc. I took a 3 session Monet class, a figure drawing class, and an intro to pottery wheel class for a fraction of what other clay studios charge. My Monet ended up hanging in the lobby. Each season, they also have open art studio time - kids drawing, teen/adult drawing and painting, ceramics, senior sessions, and more. Three week days and Saturdays the center is open and you can work on your own projects with an instructor on hand for questions or advice. All the materials are provided. Everything is free with suggested donation amounts. This is such a wonderful asset to our community.

Seriously, located in the old Pierce Arrow Building (which houses many many things, BTW), on Great Arrow and Elmwood (across from Carriage Trade Pastries), is a ceramics studio. You can take classes here, which are small and offer personalized service. You will learn a lot in the six week beginner class. You will learn how to "throw clay", make a bowl or perhaps a mug, glaze it and actually use it! How cool is that? Already know how to throw a bowl? You can also join here and come as often as you like. Its a monthly membership I think, and you pay for firing of course. Clay is priced reasonably, the space is nice, all the tools are there. All thats missing is you.

You didn't even visit the center or have any experience with the staff or the facilities yet you're leaving a one star review because you couldn't manage to have the problem-solving skills to contact the owners. I know for a fact that the guys at Buffalo Clay art are not hard to reach. in fact one time I contacted them a few days before Christmas because I wanted some suggestions on which kind of pottery wheel to buy and they got back to me right away. I was shocked at such a quick response time on the most hectic day of the Christmas season . They had nothing to gain no funds to earn from answering my question. Again they are not hard to reach but some part of me is glad that Cherie wasn't able to reach them because she sounds like an ass. I guess that's how you become yelp elite by posting comments for businesses you don't have any real experience with. In terms of my experience with the actual business, because I've taken at least two classes there and several members of my friends and family have taken classes there I can say that buffalo clay art center is a wonderful place to learn about pottery the people that teach the classes are experts they truly love what they do and they are amazing at it I cannot suggest a better place to learn from!! I came across the brunch even online via Facebook. Right away I followed the link and purchased my ticket for a Sunday event. It was quick and easy. The day of the event I arrived a few minutes late but it was no big deal. Finding the venue was a little tricky. It's of those things where if you blink, you'll miss the entrance. It only took a few moments to figure it out. Once inside it was small but cozy. There were 18 people attending the brunch and we started right away. I really enjoyed the class. We were given cute glasses with a buffalo on them and the mimosas were served. Brunch was comprised of bagels, coffee cake and scones from Panera. It was a nice spread and we were welcome to help ourselves to the spread of food. Our instructor Mo, was very nice and bubbly. She was extremely patient and kind. She never hesitated to repeat a step even if it was for the 27th time. She came right over and showed everyone over and over. She made learning fun and easy. I would love to take another class with her for sure. She's a great teacher. The space was a little tight for the blankets were were making but I really enjoyed chatting with the other people and getting to know them. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for more events.

I picked it up a couple days later as their current business hours are from 10:30a-2p Monday through Friday and couldn't escape work until I had a weekday off. The staff on site were friendly during the pickup and the gift came out beautifully. I can't wait for the person's reaction when they receive the gift.

Sunday boards and Brunch! -I attended the boards and Brunch at Buffalo Collective as their last…read moreclass in there current building. *they plan on moving to another located closer downtown. The board making class was very nice. Easy to follow and there were great saying and different boards you could pick from. The brunch food was so good and there was a lot left over! Unfortunately I think saying unlimited mimosas for the first hour wasn't as what it was listed as. The class leader pours your drinks but it felt hard/weird/awkward to ask for another glass. So each person there only got two glasses of mimosas. I over heard someone asking her for a third later on in the class and the lady said that after the first hour you have to pay. I thought that was wrong, at least for our class. There was really no direction with that.
