Always the last to leave, and have to shut off the lights!

This space is amazing- it's affordable, has a ton of resources, and is a great place to either take a class or rent studio space. I've been here since December 2021 and I can't say enough good things about this facility. Now that the weather is nice, I noticed a big outside gathering area with chairs, plants, a table, etc-I can't wait to use it! There's a kitchen, workspaces with a variety of tools, classes and workshops put on by the other studio renters to share skills- it's the space I've been waiting for! Such a gem.

What a great experience. It doesn't matter if you are handy or crafty or creative or none of the above, taking a class at The Foundry is such a great experience. A group of friends did today's earring lasercuting class and we will definitely be returning for other lessons. We were shown around the facility, from the woodworking room, to the metal shop, to the textiles space, and the printing area. We learned about how to get involved, how to use the spaces, and about their many school and community partnerships. Then we sat down and had to think about our own creations. From inspiration to final product, we were shown every step of the process, and given a variety of methods and tools for allowing our designs to come to fruition. We all ended up with such different and unique pieces that will be worn with pride. Our next visit can't come soon enough!

The Foundry gave me the opportunity to do something I had always wanted to do. For many years I've been talking about doing some woodworking and The Foundry gave me the knowledge, confidence and tools to do it. I have taken 3 classes here, Intro to Woodworking with Jim; who knows everything about woodworking, Woodshop Safety Course and the Cutting Board Class. After all these classes I felt comfortable and confident enough to do a project of my own. I took advantage of the Month Hobbyist Membership that comes with the Woodshop Safety Course to reface my kitchen cabinet doors. The membership entitles you to 20 hours per month of supervised access to the shop. The first day I went to the woodshop I was the only one there (besides Jim, the supervisor). They do only open space for 4 people at a time, so there is always space to work. Jim was very helpful answering any question I had and recommending tools or techniques. After 4+ hours of working with power tools and feeling comfortable with everything I was doing I couldn't help but feel like a bad @ss. It is so rewarding to learn a skill and be able to put it into practice. I highly recommend taking a class at The Foundry. They offer a bunch of different ones throughout the year, not only on woodworking. Right now (July, 2017) they are offering a Beginner Glass Blowing class. I know I'll be keeping my eyes open for the Intermediate Woodworking class.

Second Saturday at the Foundry: Custom guitar builder and performer Jaimie!

This is definitely a neat venue especially for the craftsmen. I went to a "Second Saturday at the Foundry" which was sort of like a hip little Saturday Market featuring work from artists who rent space at the Foundry. There was everything from handmade cards, to woodwork, to glass blowing. It is definitely worth a drive to go visit for a little while. In terms of space as a venue, it's a rustic looking warehouse that has workshops in the back - I would describe the vibe as rustic, earthy, and alternative.

Stopped in for one of their Second Saturday Artisan Markets and was extremely moved and impressed by the level of passion, industry, and optimism. Incubating new artisan-owned businesses, the space is a funky mix of work rooms, studios, warehouse, meeting space, and more. I saw at work brewers, wood workers, metal smiths, glassblowers, spinners and knitters, jewelers, and more. If you are a fan of the DIY movement, it's definitely worth a visit.

The place works on a subscription model where you pay to use the facilities, but they are freely open to the public on Thursday nights (which are the only occasions I've been there) and Saturday nights. Everyone is very friendly and open to chatting about what they do, what you do, and whatever there may be to talk about. It's great to just investigate what different people are doing and where they're coming from in their work. They keep a little fridge stocked with sodas and ice cream pops. The whole vibe is very communal, proactive and family friendly. I only took off a star so that they hopefully continue to grow and improve! Definitely stop by and check it out!

We sanded, painted/stained, dried, applied an adhesive stencil, picked out colors, painted again, dried again then eagerly lifted the stencil for a finished project. During COVID-19, StudioHue is offering a scaled back version of what crafts they offer, and is making home deliveries (within a 15 mile radius of their location on Broadway in the City of Buffalo) to provide you with some creativity during this time of staying home. The craft kits include everything you need. I went with the dog string art. I received the piece of wood, which had a hanging apparatus attached to it, a sponge paint brush, some paint, the color I chose, nails, and four things of embroidery floss, or the 3 colors that I chose when I ordered the product. This specific kit was $30 and was delivered to me on a Sunday morning. When I received the product Sunday morning, I also got a text message signaling to me that the delivery had been made. I painted the wooden board for my project in about 5 minutes, and let that dry. I then crafted the project in about 2 hours time five days after receiving the project, and the paint was still good to go. I highly recommend them to keep you sane and provide a little creative outlet.

We went through check in, where you had to fork over a suggested donation (instead of the usual 22 dollars). They take card, though we gave cash, which seemed like an easier way to exercise the discount. They offered an extra paid section to opt into for an extra 8 dollar charge that we turned down, taking our tiny tags. They're dinky and reusable and gotta attach somewhere to your person. She had also given me a wristband for the strap of Duckles, which had to be checked by a second girl who warned me that I could not wear my knapsack on my back. Could make it a tummy sack or an elbow purse to avoid bumping things, which is how I ended up cradling a stuffed duck around the museum. We hadn't nabbed a map and thought we could wing it. There are qr codes scattered about for info beyond the placards and finding where you have landed. We lucked out and scored a paper map abandoned on one of the numerous benches (there's also chairs and pull out chairs hanging for your resting pleasure) that we attempted to read. My directionally challenged self asked one of the security to send us off to the bridge, given two choices of route. We dodged the scenic way for a temporary outdoor escape, passing more art. Popping back inside we absorbed even more subsets of time and genre, respecting drawn boundaries and only touching things that said we could. There were things that touched us, our souls, that we could take photos of. There were also bizarre things and a bit of nudity. It's all art, including the special presentations and live music and everyday artists sketching in the hall. There was an interactive exhibit in the main that we skipped in the name of rumbling tummies, though we didn't try the cafe. Also avoided the gift shop, cutting out as the crowd began to swell around 6. The place was impeccably clean despite the abundance of windows and smudge worthy doors. It was worth coming out, though I'm unsure how often the exhibits rotate. Come see an authentic famous few and many more that'll have you saying the Albright is pretty *alright*.

Their website is very informative and easy to navigate. Check out the current special events and exhibitions. Currently, among others, on display is the "One with Eternity" by Yayoi Kusama, which includes her two Infinity Mirror Rooms and "Pumpkin", a giant orange pumpkin in an orange room covered with black dots. Tickets for this exhibition must be purchased separately and are valid for specific time slots. If there is a big crowd that day, wait a little and don't come from the beginning of your time slot (or figure this out by yourself). We had to leave and come back after a ridiculous experience. Waiting twenty minutes in line to see the actual installation for forty five seconds!? It was very confusing, and I believe there must be a different way to actually enjoy Kusama's work. We came back to see the second room with no wait, but still, with the forty five seconds rule. Ugh... Yes, let's loop if this is the only way which works. Don't forget, the general museum admission is free on the first Friday of the month, and I like that price.

You can tell a lot of thought went into both the functionality and the overall finish. That said, my experience with the third-party shipping company was frustrating and fell short of expectations. They had a rude customer service rep who changed my confirmed delivery date without asking that made the delivery process more difficult than it should have been. Where this experience truly turned around was with Traci Wells from the NewAge team. Her customer service and service recovery were exceptional. She was responsive, proactive, and genuinely committed to making things right. It's rare to see that level of ownership and follow-through. Because of her efforts, not only was the issue resolved, but it completely restored my confidence in the company.
