The venue also has a lot of unique works by other artists on display, and a space for large music. They host everything from concerts to art shows to author signings, even burlesque. The K Art Gallery just opened to the public, and is a "Native American owned commercial art gallery…read morewith a primary and robust focus on national-level Native contemporary artists." It's the first of its kind in the U.S. The art gallery spans over two floors, and is also used as a shared workspace. For the shared workspaces, there is table seating (with dividers), offices, and a video conference room. It would feel great to work in a space like this surrounded by art, I would feel very creative and inspired! I came with a friend to see the current exhibit titled "More than a Trace". Currently, you need to book a reservation online prior to visiting, and sign a covid waiver upon entry. There is no admission charge. Although I checked out some of the art in the exhibition on their website prior to visiting, I really enjoyed seeing it up close and having the chance to reflect on each piece. Although this is contemporary art, there were a few pieces that had strong historical ties, including the Treaty of the Seneca, and Antipode (Study in Dusty Rose). Overall I would highly recommend visiting this gallery if you enjoy art, and the opportunity to see work by contemporary Native American artists. Ring the buzzer and they will come let you in (be patient, sometimes they may need to walk to the door from the other side of the building). The staff is friendly and helpful, and happy to answer questions. There is a wood shop, a metal shop, a fabric area, a Cricut machine, embroidery machine, 3D printer, laser cutters, and all kinds of other interesting tools to make stuff. They offer classes, and let people use the tools after taking safety classes if you show up during open shop hours when the supervisor of the space is there. They rent out small spaces as incubators and offer classes and guidance for growing businesses. If you have ideas of a thing you want to make, chances are there is somebody here who can teach you how to make it. The organization is very much based around community and sharing knowledge. If you are at all curious, I highly recommend the tour.

So far I've had the opportunity to make a shot glass, make some jewelry and learn the history of glass beads and play with 3D printing. As I mentioned previously the Foundry the incubator for a variety of business that make their home here. I recently attended the holiday market where a number of the vendors that make the Foundry home were open and many visiting crafters. Many if not all of these vendors host a class or two that for a reasonable price you can get hands on to learn a new skill. So far I've taken 3 and I can tell you these classes are small, intimate and really give you a hands on experience that really makes the class worth it. Some of these resident creators include a company that makes pucks and baseballs into bottle openers, a metal worker, glass blower, jewelry maker, a wooden frame bicycle maker and a man that makes bird feeders that resemble Frank Lloyd Wright windows. Most of them have etsy or other stores to browse what is available for purchase. For me, The Foundry is about creation, creativity and the access to be able to taken part in it. To work with skilled craftsmen, hear their stories, get tips while making something in the process. So check out a class or 10, it's worth it!

This pretty little shop is (obviously) located on the Roycroft Campus, in a building built in 1904 and designated as a Furniture Shop during the Roycroft era. This antique shop shares space with Norberg's Art & Frame Shop. Though the building looks pretty huge, most of the antiques sit in one average room (they take up less space than you'd think!). There's a good variety of things here. They've got anything from large pieces that would make a great contribution to any antique collection, or refurbished home decor, to my favorite cheap finds, like postcards, political buttons, and picture prints. From what I could tell, everything was fairly priced for being antiques! I was pretty much alone to explore the shop, though I had a brief glimpse of a gentleman who said to let him know if I had any questions - before he totally vanished. (But I'm sure if I needed him, I could have found him in the building somewhere.) I know I'm going to find something awesome here one day. I'm totally going to return when I'm in the area again!

The book was Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren. You register for the class and pay online. It is an easy process. You pick up the book before the class. You have a few weeks to read the book and then show up to the book club, where you discuss the book while making a craft. I love this concept. This was my dream night/class, getting to read a book and then craft while discussing it. There were about 8 people there and the instructor. Everyone was so kind and excited to be there and talk about the book. The craft was tote bags. We took acrylic paint and painted a bunch of books on there. There were so many creative designs.  The space at Musejar is wonderful. There is a separate entry for art classes and the store. The store has some super cool craft products, as well as a large selection of fiber items, and decor. It is inviting and warm and always decorated with the season or holiday. The art space is open, bright and has everything you need to make your project successful.
