Very very unprofessional. I booked an appointment for 5pm, for a clogged toilet. Water was shut off so I had no shower or toilets. I expressed that I needed this done urgently and they said no problem, technician will be there at 5. 6pm rolls around, no show no call. 7pm still no show no call. So I call back for the 4th time and expressed how unhappy I was with their service. They got me in touch with the technician at 7.30pm, who said he wouldn't be there until 9.30pm. I was disgusted at how unprofessional they were. If they weren't going to make it until 9.30 at night I would have kept looking for another plumber. read more

On December 10th I had an appointment from 1 :00 to 5:00 for a main line drain cleaning . In the afternoon I was told that it would be after 6:00 so I rescheduled for the 17th the next Saturday again from 1:00 to 5:00 and at 6:30 I get a call schedule interview that the plumber has one more call before me so I'm guessing it would have been somewhere around 8:00 before he could get here. Obviously they are incapable of scheduling or they are so short-staffed that they're unable to do their job I don't know which but anyway you look at it I'm going to have to get a plumber I can depend on to fix my problem . read more

My thermostat had gone out and the furnace wasn't working, and I called ARS to come out. The technician inspected the thermostat and advised the only way to repair it at the moment was to install a Nest Pro thermostat, and the cost would be $800 installed. I declined and paid the $90 service visit fee. Out of desperation, I opened the thermostat, poked the wires, saw one was loose, tightened the screw, and the HVAC system started working again. read more

We recently had a plumbing emergency. (Clogged pipe, which started backing sewage up into our bathrooms) Needless to say we started dialing all plumbers to see who could get over to our house the quickest. ARS was the first to arrive and had our pipes unclogged in 1.5 hours. Anthony, the plumber, was super nice and explained everything while he was working. We didn't even know they had a special promotion going on, so we were so relieved when it only cost $89 AND it included having someone come with a camera to show you what's really causing your plumbing issues. We are so grateful for Anthony's quick response, professionalism, and knowledge! I hope all ARS employees are like Anthony because we will be using again if the need arises! read more

I called ars a year ago for a leak in my garage after I had my air unit replaced. The tech was friendly came out and told me that I needed to change my filter. My filter was about 2 months old. He left it at that. By then it was getting cool and I didn't use it any more. This year had my hvac unit replaced by another company because the ars tech they sent wasn't trustworthy. Anyway, the new company found that a part inside the unit was not put in correctly and that is what was causing the leak not my filter. read more

This company could have done a decent professional job but did not come close. I disliked the way the installers executed a quick job with my new duct system and my new furnace. They failed to check all connections and failed to insure the duct insulation was professionally secured to the base. They also failed to place back all of my insulation back in its place or even have the decency to cover the newly installed duck well bases with the already in place insulation. Terminex put 14 inches of pest treated non-fiberglass insulation and it manage to maintain its level for two years. So needless to say they never came back after numerous visits and inspects to rectify the poor service. My wife and I wished we would have never done the job. Fifteen thousand dollars later I still have holes on my floors and insulation missing from my crawl space - not to mention bald or close to bare attic spots without insulation. Being a retired servicemember such work could be very lucrative for some local merchants...they just lack total professionalism in achieving such a goal. read more

Called this Company out to do a maintenance drain cleaning and root scraping, same thing we have done every spring for 12 years. We tried this company who sent out an inexperienced technician out, Kuran, who then proceeded to punch a hole in our outside drain access the size of a man's fist. It was not there as we were the ones who opened the drain first. Called the company immediately who turned it over to their "Senior Service" plumber Bobby, who told us they would only fix it if we used their services to fix the entire length of the line, but give us $1200 off the $7700 they quoted to fix the whole line. Since we didn't want the whole line replaced they are refusing to fix it. A "Pre-exsisting Condition" contract was signed, naively, thinking "Pre" meant conditions that were there before (Pre) they got there. Customer Service said well "that's actually used for problems we might cause after the inspection". Long story short, they are not customer service driven, they are money driven, they left a giant hole in my pipe that's quoted $2475 to fix (by another plumber). read more

I'm sorry to say we didn't have a great experience with this company recently. I called on a Friday evening for a gas water heater repair - there were warning lights on water heater and it hadn't been working all day. I had read the mostly positive reviews and found a coupon online for a free service call ($89) with repair. They offered to come out that night, but wouldn't honor the coupon since it was considered after hours. I asked if they could come first thing Saturday morning and honor the coupon and they said they could. So - ease of scheduling was good. The repairman was out before 9 am Saturday morning. He looked at the heater, checked some stuff in his book, and said the igniter assembly was probably broken, which was a common problem with that brand of water heater. He said we could google the brand and read all about it. He said it was going to be an expensive repair - at least $1000 - or we might prefer to opt for a new heater altogether. He didn't have the parts in stock, and couldn't check until Monday whether the parts were under warranty, in which case we'd only pay about $500+. Meanwhile, my mom, who happened to be visiting, took his advice and started googling. While the repairman was looking up costs, she found a YouTube video that described the exact problem we've been having - the flame tries to ignite, the fan goes on, and it doesn't stay lit. It cycles about 3 times then turns off for an hour. The video repairman showed that this is usually caused by a dirty, corroded igniter. The video showed how to remove the igniter assembly and clean it with steel wool. After the repairman left, my Dad and I were able to follow the video and do just that. It's been 5 days now and the water heater has been working perfectly ever since. I would have been perfectly happy to pay the repairman a couple hundred bucks to do what we did. However, he didn't even look at the assembly. He also gave us a written estimate of $1900 for a new water heater with installation. According to the web and everyone I've talked to, a new mid-range water heater with installation should only be about $800. When he called back on Monday to tell us our parts were indeed under warranty he didn't sound at all surprised to hear that we had fixed the problem ourselves. I think he knew by then that he had overshot his target. We did end up paying the $89 since we didn't make a repair - fine. Luckily we now know the parts are under warranty - if they break permanently I'll call a different company. read more

I called on Tuesday for a heavily leaking kitchen sink and was scheduled a Wednesday afternoon window between 12 to 4. I hired someone to be at the house since I work.I received a phone call at !:45 canceling the call stating they were too busy.The first available next possible time was a week later I. am 60 years old and have had decades of experience with home repairs, This was the absolute worst. So businesses, like ARS/Rescue Rooter, read Yelp reviews and take them seriously which is how we received an email from them stating we should have informed them of our dissatisfaction than they finding out about it online. Fair enough. Duly noted. They wanted a chance to remedy the problems ASAP, and true to their word, they quickly sent two guys to our house to review all the problems we had. The project manager apologized for the mess created for lack of tarps and the sloppy job done by the previous serviceman who has since been terminated for having done same to other homeowners. The two servicemen who came out to review our problems were very nice and thorough, listened to our concerns, tried some cheaper alternatives to fix the problem but agreed with us on the solution which was to install dampers in the vents to regulate and quiet down the airflow. They installed the dampers for no extra charge, and no charge for the travel and labor to do so. They were very neat and tidy, and we couldn't even tell someone had been in our house doing work when we came home. It's always a relief and convenient to have a trusted company perform work in our home without us having to be present, especially for those of us who work all day. To compensate us for the previous drywall mess, they fabricated a custom, metal cover for our insulated vent tunnel free of charge. I can now say I highly recommend ARS/Rescue Rooter to perform service work on my home because I can count on them to care about my Yelp review and remedy any problems I have at lightning speed to my utmost satisfaction. They are also a stand-up company in that they were quick to apologize and accept responsibility for their employee without making any excuses. With more free work and free material from them, I don't think I could have done better price-wise, if I bought and installed the furnace, ducts and vents myself. read more

I called ARS late one evening and Rick was available early the next morning to assist me with my leaking faucet. He noticed that the knobs for shutting off the water to all three of my bathroom sinks were so tight that I would not be able to shut off the water supply to them if the leaking were more serious. My bathroom sinks are over 25 years old so I agreed to have this done also. He spent several hours repairing them for me in addition to replacing the old faucet and repairing the leak. He worked very quietly being careful not to leave a mess behind. He explained what he was doing and he did a walk through of his work afterwards. I cannot comment accurately on the cost for the repairs. He did show me the anticipated cost sheet so I knew ahead of time what the fees would be. It was quite expensive--over $1000 ( but I am pretty sure plumbers are not cheap anyway!!)...I was not able to "compare shop" since I made the decision while he was here. I have seen comments that others have said ARS services were higher than most other plumbers in the area but I made the decision on the spot since I live alone and I need the peace of mind to have my plumbing in good working order with winter weather coming on. The work was done efficiently. My sink no longer leaks and now the knobs turn very easily. I have no complaints at all about the work Rick did but the fees were most probably higher than if another plumbing company had done the work. read more

He did a fantastic job cleaning the unit, checking it's operation and levels, changed the batteries in my thermostat and changed the filter in my furnace. Very upset with your company. Your serviceman showed up and said he can't snake through a toilet hole with no toilet in a house with a basement and no exterior clean out. He said we would be hard pressed to find someone who would do it. Only problem is we have lived in our home 12 years and have had to call numerous companies several times to snake the roots out of our drain and each time they did it through the toilet hole with the toilet removed. So it would have been nice for someone on the phone to have told us that the day before instead of tying up our entire morning. Also was told by the dispatcher that there would be no fee for the service call itself, when there was really an $89 fee. Quoted me $900 for a repair. I've had some very unpleasant experiences with the company. We have had to schedule with them several times just to get one simple thing done. This past spring we wanted them to come clean out our air conditioner; however, it was too cold to do it then. Yet, they came and just looked at our furnace (which we didn't want anything done with) and they charged us $150. (Make sure you don't let them near anything you don't want or need fixed!) We were still charged for the air conditioner cleaning. So, we planned to have that done today. However, early in the morning they wanted to cancel me because of a thunderstorm. At 9:30, it was sunny and fine outside. After scheduling a week in advance, I don't have time to reschedule again. As a result, we've had a very frustrating experience with this company. read more

We have been a loyal customer with ARS for years for personal and business needs. We have purchased several new hvac units in last 10 years with them that had good warranties. However, last month a repair man came in on a 6 year old air condition. It was lacking freeon and he offered to check for leak, we opted to add it since perhaps it was a slow leak and then next time we can get someone out to check. This man came back into our home in a matter of 10 minutes or so and wanted payment of over $1300.00 for 7lbs of freeon. People you can buy 25lbs on the internet for $150.00. Beware, this repair man cost ARS our loyalty and business. Although our unit has a 10 year warranty on parts and labor we opted to have another company come in. Cost for installing new coil, a little over $1300.00. SOMETHING WRONG HERE. read more

I was referred to this company by Utility shield. They were very helpful and arrived promptly the next day just 30 minutes after the start of their 4 hour arrival window. My water heater had stopped working and was beginning to leak on the floor a little. The plumbers name was Chris Davis and he was very helpful and he even waited patiently while I put our 2 big dogs away. He said because of the age of the unit that it was not worth repairing. I expected that would be the case. Utility shield refused to cover anything because they are scamming jerks. Chris was very sympathetic and quoted me the cost of replacement which was a little high but quite normal for a top grade plumbing contractor. I told him thank you and even though I still do not have hot water, I would recommend this company. Their people are courteous and polite. read more

Outside salesman Jay came to our home and gave us estimate on a new gas furnace, we had a better estimate from another company, but Jay and an inside salesman Chris called us everyday for a two weeks wanting our business. Said they'd like to put a sign in our yard. Finally we agreed on a price, set up an appointment, took a day off work, to have the new furnace installed when the installers got to our home they did not have everything they needed to run some additional ductwork. After the installers left we received a phone call from Chris claiming the install manager (no name given) had canceled the job essentially refusing to do the installation. read more

I had a service call to check for gas leaks and David White came out. He was thorough and found 4 small leaks and got them repaired properly.He also did a flush of my water heater and checked all the pipe/plumbing in the house. He was very personable and professional and did a great job with my questions. I was very pleased with the service. It appears this site only lets me do one review...as it replaces rather than adds an additional review...so I will include both here. Sam Evens aslo came to my house for an HVAC System clean and check. He did a great job checking out the furnace, replaced the filter, cleaned the humidifier and checked out the heat pump. I had a new HVAC system installed and the installation team (Jamie M. and Randy P.) were knowledgeable, considerate, and thorough. My system is located in a 4-foot crawl space and as I'd been without heat for several days, I was not happy to find out that the install would run into a second day (as the team was working on their hands and knees the entire time). Still, they were patient to explain the situation as well as to explain the system after the installation. They cleaned up everything brilliantly both times and made it as painless as it could be. I used to use ARS to clean out the roots in my sewer line on annual basis. (Maybe they were not doing a good job?) I previously would take advantage of their special (typically $90-100) for clearing out my main sewer line. This time I was told that since my clean out is in my basement I would have to pay close to $300 to have the same service performed. I have receipts from previous years to show that I only had to pay a third of what they tried to charge me this time. I ended up calling a local sewer cleaning company who will be earning my business at a much more reasonable price ~$100. read more

Purchased an Angie's List coupon for $99 for $225 worth of services. I had 3 bathroom sinks that drained slowly and I couldn't get one of the stoppers back in. Also have upstairs bathtub faucet that has slow water fill, and water pressure out of the showers is not as strong as I'd like it. As I was at work and my daughter was home, I had plumber call me. His English was poor and I had to repeat things several times. Even after he arrived he kept asking my daughter things after I made it clear to talk to me as she didn't know what I wanted/needed. He quoted me a price of $225 to fix faucet and said the reason for slow shower pressure was older water heater. I told him to go ahead and try to clean out bathroom sinks and replace the faucet. All he did was replace the faucet and give me an estimate for $1,300 to put in a new water heater. After the face I did some research and the faucet costs about $25 and takes 10-20 minutes to replace. When I called ARS they said plumber was there for 1 1/2 hours and shouldn't have been expected to do anything else since I ok replacing the faucet. Bottom line for me is I feel ripped off paying $125 for a repair I could have done myself for $25 and 20 minutes, and they tried to sell me a new water heater for $1,300 which I find outrageous. read more

Once again ARS has canceled a maintenance appointment on my air conditioner. I bought the system from ARS (along with the furnace and hot water heater), but every year they cancel my maintenance appointment. Last year I took the day off to get this appointment done because they give you 4 hour windows for your appointment. They called 2 hours into the window to cancel my appointment. A day of vacation time lost for it! So, this year I had my sister who works evening shift come so I wouldn't have to take all morning off and what they CANCELED the appointment AGAIN! They called 12 minutes into the 4 hour window to cancel the appointment! Way to go ARS! Make appointments and NEVER show up for them! read more
