Rude technician. He said he could not find the main gas line and was ready to walkout. I said you're not leaving until we resolve this problem. That's when attitude became worse. He had me looking all over the house for the main gas line. You would think that a professional would have no problem identifying where the main gas line is located.Finally, he called the Gas Company to report I was not getting gas. The people from Center Point arrived 10 minutes later removed and replaced 1 CSA ball value. Problem solved. No charge. He said I got played by Godby and feel the same way. Paid $185 dollars for nothing. We used Godby for many things in the past but no more thanks to Bill's behavior. read more

My hot water heater wasn't working so I called to see if someone could come out and take a look. The person on the phone asked me what was wrong with the with the hot water heater. I told the person I did not know. The person kept asking questions I couldn't answer about the hot water heater. Finally the person took down my name and number to have someone call me back about scheduling someone to come out. I never heard from anyone. No one called to schedule service or offered to come out to help. read more

I was having my normal air conditioning inspection when the technician Adrian noticed a problem with my water heater. Of course, he wasn't there to look at my water heater, but he was there to take care of me! He called the office and they sent a plumber out immediately who installed a new water heater since mine was leaking and well beyond repair. I needed a half turn master shut off valve for the water installed. I called and asked for a ballpark figure and the price was so good I told them let's do business. They came out the next morning and installed it and thank God they did, because I had a leak in the upstairs toilet where I needed to turn the water off that night. We had just purchased a new home that required a lot of updates before our move in date. The home was in disrepair, including the furnace and A/C unit. I called Godby to come out and determine whether or not it could be repaired or if we needed a whole new system. The representative that they sent out was very knowledgeable and explained to us the issues with the existing system. They got us a number quickly and were able to get our furnace, coil and A/C unit replaced under budget. The technicians that installed our new system were great. Very disappointed. I called Godby to find an electrical problem because a neighbor recommended them. We'd had a leak and the plumber (who did a great job) said the cause was an electrical current arcing on the pipes from malfunctioning fixtures. Godby's electrician spent something like four hours examining our electrical service and assured me there was no problem. A month later, another leak. Plumber (same company but different individual) confirmed the problem was electricity on the pipes. Called Barth Electric; they sent an electrician who found the problem promptly and fixed it. Needless to say, I would NEVER use Godby again. Not only did we throw out the money we paid them, but the subsequent leak that could have been avoided cost nearly 400 to fix--and that's before repairing the hole in the drywall. read more

We bought a new home and had some minor plumbing issues to get looked at. Unfortunately for us this plumbing service was what Angie's List recommended. Was charged 300 dollars for a tightening on the toilet and an incorrectly hooked up fridge. He was here about 1.5 hours, charged for 2, and half of the time was spent wandering back and forth from his car and fixing a mistake he made in hooking up the fridge to the water line. On top of this was extremely unfriendly and lazy- told us to call the manufacturer for a leaky faucet and for a leaky dishwasher. Told us it would cost us another 600 to cut a hole in the floor and run a pipe into a small room to move the washer up from the basement. "Generously" took off 15 dollars for making a mistake that he tried to convince us didn't matter and was extremely rude about correcting. Cannot recommend less. Extremely Unsatisfied. read more

The only reason I will not give Godby five stars, I'll explain later. Air conditioner went out in my home. Godby has serviced my home before, so I gave them a call. A technician came out, and told me it was the furnace. It was the original furnace that came with the house, so I figured it was time to replace it. The person I spoke with to set up the appointment was very kind and got my appointment set up for the next day. She also gave me a window as to how long the job would take. The next day came and I received a call from Deacon telling me that they are on the way. Soon after, Deacon and Joe was at my door. They introduced themselves, and came in. Right away they got started on removing the old one and in with the new one. During that time, Joe came upstairs and put in the new thermostat. He told me that when they were finished, he'd explain the new functions on it (digital, touch screen, Bluetooth, very cool!). Not long after, they called me downstairs and the job was done. Joe came with me back upstairs and explained in detail the use of the new thermostat. During the time in my home, both guys were very professional, courtious and easy to get along with. Great job guys. As they were leaving, I asked for a business card. They said they didn't have cards of their own. Godby, get your technicians business cards! Now, the only reason for the 4 stars was because I had to have a very minor adjustment made. Without calling, the guy just showed up! I could see that he was from Godby by his vehicle and shirt, but didn't tell me who He was. He got the job done quickly and was nice, but gave no heads up that he was on his way. read more

We were in a bit of a pinch once the weather started turning colder. Went to fire up the old furnace and nothing. Of course this was discovered after hours and we struggled to get anyone who could come out in a timely matter.After working our way down the list we were able to get appointment with Godby for first thing the next morning. The technician called to confirm he was on the way and was very professional we he arrived. Our technician was also very knowledgeable and good about explaining things in a way that was understandable and had us back up and running in no time. read more

We have been a customer of Godby for probably over 10 years. We are on their Club Godby. I'll say they have very good service however, I called to have them look at a couple of things. There is a $99 service call which is fine. We needed a frost free outside spigot repaired and Gary the technician (who has been here before and is a nice guy) gave me the estimate to replace one outside faucet (spigot) and I was shocked. I expected it to be over $200.? but it was over $400. Labor is over $200 per hour. I told Gary to forget it and paid the $99 call fee. We will be looking for another HVAC and plumbing company. BTW, the 3 stars were for their service. If I had to give a star rating on pricing, it would be a one. read more

2nd time calling Godby- this time for all the water we've had and my pump going out. They came right out and fixed the issue. Low rating here is strange. Needed problem resolved with electric and I couldn't locate the problem. Was afraid the bill would be huge but couldn't solve myself. Called Godby on a friends recommendation and they came out next day. Young service guy named Josh shows up and I hold my breath thinking "No way this kid figures it out" Diagnosed and fixed (rewire in attic I had never even been in!) problem in under 2 hrs. Incredibly impressed. Josh was fast, told me what he was doing as I hovered around and got me out of the dog house w my wife who I assured I could fix! Have used them again for AC and same great, fast service. Godby has become the 1 number I always call when I can't figure out the problem. read more

I had many issues with the brand new AC and ductwork install in 2018. Now it's 2021 and I have major AC repairs that will cost well over $1k in labor alone. Can't say for all of their work, but it really seems like absolutely awful installation happened and I'm stuck holding the $$$$ bag to pay for continual repairs. The issue with the system is NOT normal within 3 years. Extremely disappointed in the quality that I received from this company. Not sure why my system is this bad; not sure if the techs had some sort of bias, or what, but the $5500 A/C system that was installed has had nothing but issues. read more

Another great experience with Godby. We had a water heater basically crack open right before we were having a houseful of guests. Godby got out to our home, figured out what went wrong, got it fixed under warranty and all in time. I can not believe it. We had a Grohe kitchen faucet that sprung a leak 10 days ago.We called Godby Plumbing, Heating & Cooling and Will a 23 year licensed plumber came to the home . After examining the faucet, he told us that the faucet could not be fixed and we should contact Grohe. My husband & Will called the company to tell them we needed a new faucet. They told us that we only needed to replace the sprayer hose.Will told them that it was not the hose but a problem elsewhere on the faucet.They told him that was not true so they would send a new hose assembly. When that replacement came, Will returned and replaced the hose and the faucet still leaked as he predicted. After several more days , the company finally sent us a new faucet. Will returned once more and installed the new faucet and it works perfectly. Will and Godby were very fair on their pricing for 3 visits plus some extra parts that we needed and his labor. We have used Godby for years for plumbing, heating & cooling. All the Godby employees have been highly trained, professional and accurate with their diagnoses of our problems and the fix. I had an absolutely horrible experience with Godby. My experience was so bad that I believe the company is either completely mismanaged or is willfully ripping off customers. Savvy consumers should BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! On August 3rd, 2013 I contacted Godby Heating, Plumbing, Electrical to repair my AC because it was blowing warm air. The technician arrived and quickly told me that I needed to replace the thermostat. That didn't solve the problem, so Godby sent the tech back to our house. The technician arrived and after some time outside claimed to have fixed it. He presented us with the information about the repair and a bill for $500 AFTER he performed the work. He explained that it needed more coolant and so he refilled 3 lbs of coolant. I specifically asked if there was a leak since 3 lbs is a huge amount. He said it was now working fine and we should be good. I was skeptical, but the unit was indeed blowing cold air so I paid the bill. A day later, AC was again blowing warm air. I called and spoke to the manager Kevin. He admitted that there must be a leak and the technician should have performed a full leak check before installing coolant. Godby sent another technician who easily confirmed the coil leak. This repairman stated that the first technician should have performed a full leak test before filling any coolant and apologized for the mistake. The manager, later called to tell me they will install a new coil for an additional $1,852 that will solve the problem. This new cost includes a leak repair and refilling with 3 more lbs of coolant. I complained that Godby should apply the wasted original coolant cost (~$500) to this new total. Godby should have performed a leak test before refilling with coolant and even then should have presented me with options before actually performing the work. As I pressed for a reasonable deal given my previously incurred and wasted coolant expense, Kevin became rude and unreasonable in his interactions with me. I declined further work with Godby and called a competitor that quoted and performed the new work at a regular cost of $1,290. (This, of course, includes the coil leak repair plus the cost to refill coolant again.) To make matters worse, Godby re-billed me for the unnecessary work performed on August 4th even thought I paid this total in August and have the receipt and bank withdrawal proof. Every company makes mistakes, but how these mistakes are handled is what defines a company. Godby does not care about their customers. Godby represents POOR QUALITY, POOR SERVICE, HIGH COSTS, and DOUBLE BILLING. Save yourself money and a headache -- AVOID GODBY!! read more

Our AC unit was not getting it done and eventually died recently on shot July Saturday. The owner himself made sure a technician got to us ASAP. The tech gave us a couple of options in language I could understand. We opted for a total replacement and again we were presented with options which were appreciated. I have had several electrical and HVAC service calls dealing with Godby. It seems that work that is supposed to be completed doesn't get completed only masked and a huge bill to follow. Over the course of 2 years, I have had to call them out repeatedly to fix the same issues the prior tech was to fix. The most recent incident was me calling them to have a light replaced that required an electrician. The tech that was sent out came in and looked at the light only to tell us "You probably already know this, but this requires an electrician". Yes, we know that and that is why we called you! A week later I am still waiting on that electrician to show up and replace the light! Don't waste your time or money with Godby! Get someone who will get the work done right the first time and won't keep charging you for repeated visits due to their negligence! read more

Called Godby to check out our AC. With the help of a friend who owns his own non-local HVAC business we were already able to rule out several issues. It was narrowed down to low refrigerant, or a bad Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV). The tech called day of appt (today) and was running early. No problem. He arrived at his updated ETA and was polite, well groomed and respectful. Unfortunately, he had no practical diagnostic knowledge and had to keep calling the office to run things by a Master Tech. In what I can only guess was an attempt to stall while waiting for further instruction he decided to drain refrigerant from the system because it kept spiking pressure. It was clearly short cycling because of a bad TXV. At the end of it I was charged the $79 diagnostic, PLUS .5 hr labor at $120/hr to piddle around waiting for someone to verify what had been determined 45 minutes prior. The written estimate is for just over $1100 to replace a $130 part, evacuate the system, and recharge the system. He stated that it would be a 3 to 4 hr job involving LOTS of equipment etc. OK, so at 4 hrs labor we have $480 plus a $130 part. How does that add up to over $1000? As a parting blow to their credibility I asked if our TXV was compression fitted or had to be soldered? The tech claimed that ALL TXV's are soldered in. What's funny is that ours is actually a Hybrid TXV that is both soldered and compression fitted. Poor guy is clueless and I AM NOT paying them another penny to run around being polite but incompetent. read more

Since then I have been contacted by Jason Godby, and was treated very well. I was assured that my experience was the exception, not the norm, and I believed him. I have decided to replace my previous extremely negative review, not because I was asked to, but because after my conversation with Jason I felt that they no longer deserved it. I reported a an issue with the HVAC in my frontroom not working on12/27 to my property manager, who then reported to Godby. I have been waiting two days already in a apartment that is freezing in the front with no contact or information provided on when Godby would be by to examine my HVAC. I followed up this morning with my property manager who said he hadn't heard anything. I reached out to Godby directly and low and behold they said "they couldnt reach me", and wouldn't "be able to come fix it until next week." But indicated that, someone would "be by to look at it" before then....the receptionist was not able to give me a time when someone would be showing up at my door. Don't fall for the hype of them being an Indy local name! Do your research and find a small local plumber on Nextdoor site or through neighbors or friends. This company lied to our faces as they sent an inexperienced "plumber" to our home who had to take pics to get answers then took our $50 trip charge check and said he'd be back only to find out they weren't coming back until the following week!! We were without water and they knew this and then said WE WERE at fault when they knew the problem ahead of time! They lied on the phone and said we didn't tell them it was a different situation...we explained it exactly and even if it was a diff situation ( which it wasn't)..they should've had the knowledge to do it!!! The plumber that arrived stated "i have three other appts still and its 5pm... i can't do this one right now". They knew it was not a basic replacement but this plumber didn't know how to do it and we had waited all day on him and then we got blamed!!! We had to fight to get our check back and thankfully we found an honest plumber through Economy Plumbing recommendation! Steer clear of Godby!!! read more
