Used ARS 11 years ago to replace my heating/air unit and had a great experience. I had them come out due to air stopped cooling and the technician was great and explained everything. I allowed him to replace a part that I found out later you could buy from Amazon for around $20.00, and they charged me over $500.00 to replace the part. Next came the salesperson to go over the cost for replacement. All I can say is WOW, they do a whole play script of calling their Boss to see if there is any way to give you a discount for being a loyal repeat customer. Be prepared, the Boss will make sure he asks you questions to make sure the salesperson has done their job. I felt all they did was try to lure me in to pay almost $29,000.00 for a new unit and then be able to move the price to $17000.00 and then again to $12000.00. This is the 2nd time Lowes referred me to ARS RESCUE ROOTER. The 1st time, they called right away and scheduled a time for an inspection / quote for service. Ten mins before the scheduled time, they called and cancelled because they "had a flat tire". This time, same scenario except they didn't call until almost 2 hours past the scheduled time frame (10-2 and called me at 3:45). The lady said they over booked. If they can't meet the scheduling demands, why be open on the weekends at all?? I work during the week, and of course any problems always arise in the weekend. Im very disappointed and frustrated. I'll also be leaving this review on Google and Lowes. People need to be aware and find a more reliable service. read more

I have used ARS for years but as time goes on, I do not like their business nowadays. I had someone to come out recently to get estimates of leaking faucet and leaking under a toilet. They charge me $127 just to get an estimate. The person who came out to give me an estimate was not too friendly (and did not explains the estimates very well and did not even write down the estimates very clearly)--for $127. The estimates he gave me were very expensive and he would not even explain the differences very well at all. So, I have decided to not use their service any longer. The man who came out just wanted to give a quick estimate and leave. For the money I paid for the estimate, I expected more. -- I will get free estimates from other plumbers and make a decision. ARS/Rescue Rooter tried to charge me four times the real cost of a simple furnace repair. Not double. Not triple. Four times. My furnace needed a warranty-covered circuit board. ARS quoted me $1,700 (or $1,400 if I waited). That was labor only. I got a second opinion. Another licensed HVAC company completed the exact same repair for $321 total. Women: PLEASE get a second opinion before you let this company touch your home. Don't let anyone make you feel like you "wouldn't understand" the pricing. Don't let anyone talk over you. This company only focus is sales I wouldn't recommend ARS. We started having air flow issues during the winter of 2025 The technicians didn't have a clue regarding solving the issue. They stated it's going to take the unit longer to heat up because the weather is cold The thermostat remained on 7l however it takes an 1 hour and 45 minutes to heat to 72 degrees. These people are not honest and dependable. The manager or supervisor are unreachable. The only tools the technicians carry is a ladder and a camera.....totally useless. I'm paying over 12,000 dollars and using electric heaters. Please don't hire ARS. read more

ARS quoted her $1,700 (or $1,400 if she waited) for labor only. Another licensed HVAC company did the exact same repair for $321 total. That is the real market trend. Let's be very clear: "market trends" do not justify a 400% markup. Labor for a circuit board replacement typically falls between $300-$500. Calling $1,700 a market trend is deliberately misleading -- especially during a snowstorm when they knew this customer needed heat. Updated Review: ARS is excellent for taking your money and nothing else. As stated below, I replaced two HVAC systems with ARS, and within two years, I have had to replace massive components of both systems. EVERY appointment I have had for service technicians to come to the house has been rescheduled by ARS, and nearly EVERY service tech, while polite and knowledgable, has shown up late. I signed up for the Service Agreement with the guarantee that my appointments would be prioritized and it would save me money in the long run and then experienced the above issues with appointments and was told I would have to pay nearly $500 (which was the price after the 15% service agreement discount) for a service appointment to fix an issue on a system that was 14 months old. I will never use ARS again and recommend you save yourself the headaches and contact someone else for your HVAC needs. Original Review: I've used ARS for two HVAC system replacements, as well as repairs and replacements on those systems. They are consistently excellent. I had Logan out to do the spring tune ups on the systems this week, and he was equally excellent, if not even more impressive, than the other technicians I've had out. He took the time to explain the processes necessary for maintaining the systems and talked me through possible upgrades I could look at doing in the future, but I never felt pushed or pressured into buying anything. They failed to show up or call me to explain or reschedule 2 days in a row so I wasted 10 hours of my time and time that a real plumber could have already come and fixed my simple slow drain! I had a clog in my plumbing. I called ARS and they said they could send somebody out within the next few hours. I specifically told them not to call my phone because I had a call screening service on it. I asked them to please text. Nobody texted me. Hours went by and I still couldn't use my water. I called them back and they said that they had called and since I didn't answer the phone, they canceled the appointment! I reminded them that they weren't supposed to call they were supposed to text. They said they would make a note of that. Finally close to the end of the day, a young man showed up. He did some troubleshooting and told me that there was nothing he could do to help me. He said the clog was not coming from inside the house, but it was coming from the sewer line from the house out to the street. He said that because I didn't have a clean out, there was no way that he could work on the clog. He said someone would come out to give me an estimate on installing a clean out. He said he would put it down as an emergency. I asked him to please remind them not to call me to text instead. The next morning at 8 AM I called and asked if it would be possible for them to remove my toilet and snake my sewer line through there, and I was told that that was something they did regularly. I was told someone would be here between eight and 12. Nobody showed. Nobody told me that there was a delay. I cleared my whole day and sat here waiting. Around 3 PM a salesman showed up. He said they never snake the sewer line through the house, that he was only there to give me an estimate on putting in a clean out! By now it was almost the end of the day on Friday and I still couldn't use my water! He quoted me over $4300 to install a new clean out! When I asked why it was that expensive, they said because they had to use the excavator and they had to get last-minute permits... Meanwhile, because they were taking so long, I was able to reach out to a smaller business who quoted me a lower price, I mean way lower as in a couple thousand dollars lower! I also reached out to the city to find out about the permit, and was told that they don't need a permit when they're not in the right of way. The city said this is something all plumbers know, so the guy from ARS was either bad at his job and ignorant, or he was lying to me to increase the price. It turns out, now that the new plumbers that I hired are here (not ARS!) they said I didn't even need a new clean out! My sewer line is nice and clean, all plastic, and no trees. They took my word because I took the word of ARS when they originally troubleshooted and said the clog was not inside the house. But it turns out the ARS guy was totally wrong and ended up costing me over $1300 that I didn't even need to spend. After the new clean out was installed, when we tested it out, there was still a clog. It turns out it was in the house after all! The plumber I hired said it was a "soft clog" that could've easily been found and fixed and would've cost me about $600. I am so frustrated that I believed the ARS guy and so the plumber who came out didn't do his own troubleshooting. It ended up costing me a lot of money because I believed ARS. Fortunately, even though I didn't even need a new clean out, mine was actually a very easy clean out to install with no digging required. They went in right there through the crawlspace, where the entry to the cleanout will be right next to the opening of the crawlspace so that it will be easy to snake in the future. (But like I said, I probably will never need to do that in the future because it's a totally clean straight shot with no trees and there never was a problem with it in the first place!) So even though I ended up getting a clean out installed that I didn't need, getting the soft clog fixed on the inside of the house, I also had a toilet that was installed incorrectly and they re-fitted the toilet. And it still cost me $2400 LESS than what ARS quoted me for just the clean out in the first place! If you are anywhere near Indianapolis or Bloomington, I highly recommend you call Mike Terry, plumbing and excavating. Do not use ARS! Mike Terry's business is how it should be, working with people to help us get the best work and only the necessary work. I feel like ARS was all about just trying to sell me more and more services. I'll just mimic what Patty said about women. I went to purchase a new stove and microwave from Home Depot and was solicited for a tune-up from an outside company. I felt, sure, I'll do it for $8.88. They came to my home and within minutes stated that I had a cracked heat exchanger that made my furnace inoperable and he had to red tag it and he couldn't turn my heat back on. Mind you, it was 14 degrees outside and my furnace had no issues (visually or physically) before they arrived. My home heated up very well with no evidence of monoxide poisoning from my alarms. I only allowed them to come to my home by solicitation and now they are telling me that I will be in big trouble if I run my furnace because they tagged it for nonuse. They also said that I had bad bearings and hotspots on my control board. My friend called several of his friends who are licensed in HVAC and have been working in the field for years and had them come to my home to inspect my unit. They both had many years in the business. Both said that they didn't notice any cracks in my heat exchanger with one saying that what they called cracks were really just hems (normal structure) in the unit. Both said that my furnace is older and it could go out but they couldn't give a time limit as there was nothing wrong with it other than being an older unit. I contacted the company and they didn't act alarmed at all by my complaint and offered to call me back to have someone come and reevaluate my unit. They never called to do that until I wrote the BBB about their business. That same day, I received calls from about 3 people trying to rectify the situation. But the lady literally tried to make me feel dumb because I stated that I went out to purchase a furnace based upon their evaluation. She said, "then why did you go and buy a furnace if both of them said that there was nothing wrong?" I said, I went to do that before they came because they had me panicking to get my furnace back on since the man said that I would be in big trouble if I used my furnace. I figured that if I had a furnace there when the other people came, they could install it immediately so that I didn't risk my pipes bursting due to it being extremely cold outside. They sent someone out to give me an estimate and the estimate was $10,000 for a furnace and air conditioner in which they never even inspected that. They gave me multiple estimates ranging from $4500 - $10500. The unit that I ordered from Home Depot was $930. So, you mean to tell me that labor is $9,000? They are CROOKS and LIARS!!! DO NOT trust them!! I have reached out to Home Depot also to discuss this matter. They should no longer partner with them!!! read more

I will never work with ars rescue again. Their people are badly trained and care nothing about the environment. The technician realeased all the old refridgerant to the air dather than capturing it. Tgd misswired my furnacs and it took a week and three more visits to get it straight. After 3 attempts i decided to call management no such order had been placed. -everyone I've talked to said its not possible and have no idea why he said that. -unit is quite loud. Not even worth one star.. horrible experience we purchased a new central air and furnace from them and they messed everything up installing it. Broke my condensation pipe and had water in my basement had to bring another company in to bring a dehumidifier because mold was starting. Did not hook up my return pipe in from the top of furnace knocked off ductwork off my vent. 5 times they had to keep coming back to fix everything. Our kitchen sink was clogged up,so we called ARS around 6:00 pm last night. They told us they didn't have any appointments last night but they can make it first thing in the morning. So we said around noon he called at about 10:15 and he was here at 11 o'clock. By 12:00 he was done and we had a free flowing drain. Mike was our plumber he was very nice and professional. I cannot even give this shady company 1 star. They tried to strong arm a family member of mine to get a HVAC system after coming out for a routine maintenance on the system. When asked for a breakdown of cost for a system that was over 14k, the salesperson stated they could only provide a total number for the system, NOT the specifics!!! The salesman even made a supposed call to the "boss" to confirm that a detailed receipt could not be provided, only a final cost for the work. It felt suspiciously like when a car salesman goes to talk with the "manager" to see if they can get a lower price after they give you the overinflated price, and you know they are just talking football. I was disgusted by the fact that this salesman was so disrespectful that he thought two females were not smart enough to realize they were being strong armed. We did realize, and showed him the door. BEWARE-especially if you are a female, they will try to take advantage. DON'T LET THEM! Find someone who will provide you with a fair price and provide a detailed receipt. read more

I have had the worst and nearly unimaginable experiences with them installing and maintaining my furnace unit. Their service workers are totally inept and have left us stranded with no answers and no follow ups (in the dead of winter with no working furnace because of a mistake THEY made). BEWARE. YOU'LL PAY THOUSANDS FOR A JOB AND PAY THOUSANDS MORE FOR LANDSCAPING. Despite their satisfaction "guarantee", they add to contracts that they can destroy your yard, and are not liable for it. In May of 2023 I had to have a sewer clean out installed for easier access to clogged clay pipes. During the process of this installation, the workers did not use proper equipment, recklessly tore up my yard, even managed to take 2 chunks out of a tree ON OPPOSITE SIDES. I still don't even know how that happened. They made no effort to preserve my yard carefully as they should have been trained to do. Ideally they were supposed to lay out plywood overlaying each one on top of each other so that they could place all of the spoils on top of the plywood while digging. After properly compacting in increments they would put the grass back that they cut out or level it off and if it was settled to where it needed more dirt they would bring in more dirt. What they DID do, They dug a huge hole in the wrong direction before finding the pipe and promptly breaking it. Despite having the trench box to get in and out of the hole safely, they did not use it. When their supervisor came, he asked ME if they had. After the pipe was installed they proceeded to fill the hole haphazardly. And left an absolute DISASTER behind, including the flags just laying around. When I brought this up to the supervisor he offered to pick up the flags... when pressed he said they could come seed grass... for an additional cost! All the while he assured me this is how it's supposed to be. But my father worked for this company and knows their policies and procedures, he was absolutely horrified by the unprofessional work. I tried giving the mound of mess more time settle, but the no man's land they left behind was so embarrassing I reached out with photos showing how lumpy and awful it all looked, knowing how expensive it would be to fix, I wanted a refund. Instead upper management offered to come seed the mound. I am not usually one to complain or argue with businesses so I accepted. My Dad was still bewildered with the job and contacted local upper management as a former employee again to discuss the satisfaction policy and the fact that the job was not a 4k quality job. The man he contacted proceeded to argue with him to the point of inviting my Dad to come here from Utah to FIGHT HIM. I was so embarrassed by the conflict I reached out again to apologize and accept the offer for grass seeding and waited to see if it would be okay, and didnt want to press any further. Some time after the grass had started to pop up (they had taken some dirt away, seeded over the lumps of dirt), I saw that the hole was several inches deep into the ground on the sides. I contacted them saying as much, so they did a second grade and seed with soil. (Which I was grateful for at the time.) Here I am in spring, it is unsalvagable and I will have to spend even more for landscaping. It's cracking along the edges of the mound and so lumpy we can even mow. It's frightening to walk on and frankly I'm terrified we'll be several thousand dollars out again if the pipe has settled wrong. I have refrained from poor reviews, I've tried to be kind, and I've tried to have it explained by a professional. I tried to contact them again about a refund to no such luck. They feel they've been accommodating, and I would agree had the jobs been done properly. However it was just messy mistake after messy mistake and I feel taken advantage of for having tried to trust them multiple times. It genuinely has twisted me up to try to stand up for myself or feel I'm hurting anyone's feelings but, there it is. read more

It all started in March. I had a water leak on my hot water line. The first plumber came out and tried to find the leak. He made two holes in my walls and it still couldn't be located, he contacted a leak detection company to determine where the leak was. He pulled a couple of strings with the company to get same day service. After seeing the results, (Which was in the slab) he came out and started to break up the slab to complete the repairs). Unfornately, the leak was also identified on the other wide of the wall as well. He did his due diligence to get hot water back that evening. Unfortunately it wouldn't be done that evening. This is the only plumber that gave good service. The next day another plumber came out and continued the job. After several hours, and putting in a new pex line and fittings, he sealed the holes in my slab. After a week, the leak came back. I contacted ARS again and they sent the second plumber back. He broke the slab back open again and told me that it was a defective fitting. He made the repair again. I asked that the holes not to be sealed again for 24 hrs. to make sure that it was repaired properly. The next day, I didn't here from anyone from ARS to seal the leak, I contacted the dispatch company and they stated no schedule was made. They put me on for Saturday service. On Saturday, I received a call from a plumber that said he was the only one on today and wanted me to agree to be scheduled for Monday. When I refused, he did come out and seal the slab. Two weeks went by and it started to leak again. I contacted ARS. The second plumber came out and told me that he feels something else is going on due to the meter running and wouldn't return until I had the leak detection company back out. The next day after the leak detection company came out and determines that the running water meter was coming from and upstairs toilet and charging me $360, I contacted ARS, at first they were going schedule for the next day, after I telling them that I ha e been without hot water for two days, they agreed to send some one out between 12 and 4. I waited around all day, then at 3:45 I received a call from the dispatcher who stated that they couldn't get ahold of the plumber but we were next. At 4:20 I received a call from the plumber and said they were on there way. At 5:00 they showed up. Looked at the water meter again. When I told them that the leak that needed to be repaired was not related, they went out to there tru k and made a phone call. After coming back, they stated that they did not have the proper equipment to make the repairs. They rescheduled for Monday, which means no hot water for the weekend. I rented a hotel for two nights so my family could have a shower. Come Monday and not hering from any one I contacted ARS again. This time I received a call and was told that they will not come out until the leak detection company determines on which side of the wall the leak was on. I will not use ARS again and will state, buyer beware before selecting ARS to do any work for you. My next step, contacting BBB and reporting the company since there advertisement stated that if not satisfied there would be a full refund, ARS stated that it would not do this under these circumstances. read more

The duct cleaning was almost totally ineffective and the servicemen damaged a bit of our door trip moving their equipment around. I had a Bradford White water heater that was leaking, and still under a six year warranty. When ARS arrived, they told me that they needed to write up some estimates. I was told that I needed a new water softener, and they could replace my existing one for $3K. Next estimate was to replace my water heater, (I remind you, still under warranty) for $3,500 and extend the warranty for another 6 years. The final estimate was to replace the water heater for $1,700 in labor. First, second, and third, this service technician seems to be more of a salesman than anything. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous. Now, they had the replacement on their truck, so I told them to drop it in my garage and I would install it myself. Well, all of a sudden, this warranty water heater was not mind to give to me in this fashion. I called to speak with the supervisor who made the decision not to allow this action or resolve it in any other manner, both were in meetings. No Call Back. Our kitchen sink clogged due to our garbage disposal and using Angi this was the first company available. The service tech was friendly but when he got here he asked, "how much did they tell you?" My husband told him, "$109.00" and he said, "It's normally $249.00 plus the $109.09 service charge, but I am not going to charge you that. How much do you think is fair in these conditions?" It was during the really cold 'blizzard' conditions. My husband told him we would pay $200.00. He did the repair but it was very strange. He started talking about how he was called to the ministry to fight witchcraft! He also said he could be called at anytime to go anywhere to evangelize! His credit card machine didn't work while he was here so we had to write him a check. Not sure if we got fleeced or not. It was all very strange! We had a clog a couple of months ago and had a different company out and unclogged it for $93!! Unfortunately that company wasn't free for 4 days! Never again! Sent out tech who was very good. Needed control board. Check if in stock. Never heard from anyone again. Called 12/27 was told hadn't heard from parts warehouse. I'm a senior citizen, retired on SS income. My kitchen sink stopped up 2 days ago, so I took the pea trap apart and cleaned it out, put back together....still clogged. I don't have a garbage disposal so no problem with that. ARS came out and looked at the under sink PVC ...took it apart and would not snake it! Why? I asked and was told, "Because I am only a sink technicia." "Oh....I thought you were a plumber?" Nope. I'm just a "sink teck" Oh WTF? SO NOW another guy comes out later...he is not a plumber either. He uses a reciprocated saw to cut off the damaged galvanized nipple coming out of the wall and installs a rubber coupling. I ask, "Aren't you going to snake the drain?" "No...I don't have the tools". I was the informed the "other guy" would have to come back out to snake my drain...for $185 on top of $150 initial charge. Fughedaboudit! I said. I bought a snake at HF for $15. this is my second review of these people. Zero, they get zero stars.!! they did not show up from my scheduled appointment and then they started taking $20 a week out of my checking account. this started the 1st of February, so far. I've gotten $40 back but they owed me $60!!! I have tried and tried to get my other $20. I feel like I need to call the police because they stole money on my account without my permission.. I had plumbing issues and called ARS our first. I took off two days of work and waited for 2 different techs to come out. First tech said we had no clean out and would have a guy out to install one the next day, and said they had financing. Never told us a price, never looked at a thing. That was late Friday. Tuesday rolls around to our next appointment. Another gentleman comes out. Also doesn't look at a thing. Throws out an estimate for $2700 for a new cleanout. I had another company come out, actually look, and installed a cleanout for $490. Wasted time on ARS to still have no problem fixed. Called Maxwell & Sons Plumbing and they fixed us right up with no hassle, no crazy costs, and no back hoe to fuck up my yard for maybe 20 inches of digging. read more

Absolutely the worst. Appointment set up for between 8:00 am and Noon. No call no show. I called, they said someone would reach out within 30 minutes. No call no show. I called again, said they were sending some one and the tech would call when he/she was within 30 minutes of arrival. No call no show. I called again, they apologized and said that this is absolutely un-professional and someone would be calling me and insured me someone was on the way. No call no show. 6:00 pm, got a call stating that I would have to reschedule for another day. Have to take another day off work. I'm not confident that anyone will show. read more
